BREAKING NEWS: MEND blows up pipeline in Niger Delta
By Our Correspondent, Published: Saturday, 19 Dec 2009

Militants

The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta claims that it has blown up a pipeline belonging to Shell/Chevron at Abonnema in Rivers State.

” This attack is due to the prolonged silence by the Federal Government due to the President‘s absence, ” MEND wrote.

But the Joint Task Force Commander, Gen. Sarkin Yaki Belo, said the task force was yet to confirm the attack.

He however, said the body would go after those responsible for the attack if confirmed to be true.

” There is no verification yet by the JTF that a pipeline has been sabotaged around Abonnema. If this act of unpatroitism is confirmed to be true, at a time the Federal Government is doing its utmost to consolidate on the gains of the amnesty programme, then the criminals behind the act are enemies of the Niger Delta and indeed Nigeria and they don‘t deserve any sympathy, ” Col. Timothy Antigha, JTF Spokesman, said

@poster

Yorubas born and brought up outside the south west do not behave like that.
I wonder whether Nigerians of the eastern extraction could be open to the idea of a "Sovereign National Conference" where serious issues could be ironed out, but a conference which excludes any discussion of breaking up the country?  I believe progressives in the North are quite open to the idea of federalism and we could discuss how to accomplish "true" federalism in such a conference. Millions of lives were lost during the civil war to keep nigeria one,  and anyone that believes that Nigeria will breakup peacefully this time, should think again.

make i go come.
Continue to dey yarn cigar.So it is people of eastern extraction are the impediment to the holding of SNC?

Nigerians do not care about nigeria but what they can get from nigeria.As far as i am concerned nigeria as a country is finished.We as individuals should simply see what we salvage for our individual selfs in nigeria.

Yoruba may not be united, but they still find a way to work hand in hand with the Hausa people. Igbo people tend to live in the box.
If Igbo people's goal is to become the president in 2015, they must quickly come together to realize that it isn't all about just the Igbos. Nigeria is a very big country and looking at things broadly is required to lead a nation like Nigeria.
You must learn how to accept one another and be willing to embrace other Nigerian citizens from the other side; or else it will just be Yoruba president and Hausa president till the end of time.
And we have seen how great nigeria is by the two groups ruling nigeria.A country of jokes.

@sjeezy8

For your info. Ameachi's mother is yoruba.I was talking about western demographics as you stated and not whether he has hausa/fulani connection.

And you wonder why the country is messed up where a supposed sophisticated ethnic group is considering mundane things such as regional demographics intead of intellect to vote who will become their president.
Politics › Re: Support Igbo Presidency 2015 by asha80(m): 9:54pm On Dec 07, 2009
Ok what makes you think Atiku is detribalized and can relate on the western demographics and Ameachi not detribalized and cannot relate on the western demographics like Atiku?

What im saying is that yorubas are fairly moderate and keep all religions in mind, holding them equally. With that being said about 40-50%yorubas are muslims. So voting for any southerner cause hes a christian, is not on the mind of many yoruba christians (which im one), most yoruba christians are looking to vote for whatever moderate candidate there is that relates to them, religion aside.

Im not going to vote for a candidate because hes a christian southerner. If you give me amaechi and Atiku, Im going to vote for atiku he is detribalized and can relate to Western demography on many levels.

its no stalemate cause most of the time the outcome will be a detribalized northerner such as atiku or a southerner (most likely from the west because they are most moderate in Nigeria) Obj or Abiola. or EDO and even middle belt

and yes Nigeria will break if people dont like the results of a free and fair election.
What makes you think Amaechi is not detribalized?

They fit the dynamics of Nigeria plain and simple. Either people respect Nigerias dynamics or it breaks up.
and it can break up

who is closeted ? Ive said it time and time again PEOPLE OUTSIDE SS/SE WILL NOT VOTE FOR AN IGBOMAN IN A FREE AND FAIR ELECTION PERIOD, THEY ARE NOT READY TO VOTE FOR ONE.plain and simple and this is not based on any malice, im just stating what the country really is.
Let us leave the north out now.Are trying to confirm that yoruba christains are 100% biased at the thought of an igbo president?

Calm down,

Garri drinking is associated with hungry student in as much as it is choice to drink.

It is associated with poverty. If you ever went to boarding school and your parents are not the wealthy type, garri aka otto, garrium sulphate, garriopea, etc will be your best friend.

Nobody is condemning him my dear jamace.

I still drink garri because i like it and it is choice.

GARRI DRINKING has a tag in naija.

It is no value!
