Anambra was and is still solvent before the refund because the said fund is ours ab initio but used in fixing federal infrastructures in the state.

We were doing infrastructures and paying salaries up to date before the refund came recently. It's still our money that they gave us back though without interest. cool

seunmsg:
"Obiano commended the Federal Government for refunding about N43.8 billion expended by the state government to reconstruct and rehabilitate some federal roads"

Kudos to president Buhari for this kind gesture. This huge refund to Anambra state is definitely one of the reasons why the state is still solvent. Even though wailers and Ipobs are trying desperately to paint a picture of a president that hates the south east, facts on ground says otherwise.
PoliticsRe: FG Committed To Completion Of 2nd Niger Bridge– Fashola by asha90:
N43b refund! Now we have enough funds for further infrastructural advancement of Anambra. While other states are borrowing, Anambra is being refunded.

Like I said somewhere, Anambra is a very important state, we need the 2nd Niger to continue as started by GEJ, also all other federal infrastructures to be fix because our state roads are already topnotch. Zik's Mausoleum and library is already in the 2016 budget.

GOD continue to BLESS the light of the entire black race.

The point is that it is only Abuja, Lagos and PH can pass for cities with expensive rent. Other southern Nigerian cities has a lot in common when it concerns rent. The same thing happens in the north with it's own rent regime different from the south.

InyinyaAgbaOku:
What is low rent in a city may be high in another.
That's what the op was saying. Low rent areas in PH may pay for a 2 bedroom flat in a high rent area of Gombe

At times I shudder at NL mods. How can somebody wake up and coin something in his mind and post on the NL and suddenly it will appear on the FP? This is supposed to be a news site where veritable and genuine information is shared. Apart from Abuja, Lagos and PH which most of its areas are expensive comparatively to other states. Whereas other parts of Nigeria have low scale, medium scale and upscale hoods. And the rents are classified in that order.

There are upscale and expensive parts of Onitsha, Enugu, Warri etc, same way there are low rent areas and this is in equilibrium in the aforementioned cities. But it is not the same in Abuja, Lagos and PH that has almost most of it's hoods damn expensive.

If we are to talk about all round most expensive cities, it is:

1. Abuja

2. Lagos

3. Port Harcourt

The capital dredging of 527km of the Lower River Niger from Warri in Delta State to Baro in Niger State being carried by the Nigerian Federal Government has completed.

This was revealed by President Goodluck Jonathan during a stakeholder’s forum held in Lagos on Tuesday this week. The meeting was organized by the National Inland waterways Authority (NIWA). The President also said dredging will help all-year navigation along the axis.

The president also listed towns through which the channel runs through, and these are Warri in Delta state, Onitsha in Anambra state, Idah, Jamata in Kogi state, Baro in Niger state and Agenebode in Edo state.

He also recognized the completion of rehabilitation of Onitsha River Port commissioned in August, 2012
. The rehabilitation was done by the Inland Waterways sub-sector. A transaction Adviser has already been appointed to facilitate the concessioning of the port within months.

Nigeria is also constructing major River Ports along Baro River in Niger State, Oguta in Imo State and Lokoja in Kogi. In addition, the country is establishing several jetties in various communities around the country. Once completed, these ports will be concessioned to private sector operators.

At the present, more than 20 states in Nigeria are interconnected by traversable waterways and they encompass 12 major rivers, creek, lagoon, lakes and intra-coastal waters aggregate to a total passable distance of over 10,000km. These resources offer an important connection for inland water transportation.

Ijaws oppose River Niger dredging
From Kelvin Ebiri, Port Harcourt

CITING alleged adverse impact the project might have on the ecology of the Niger Delta, the Ijaw National Congress (INC) has kicked against plans by the Federal Government to dredge River Niger for the proposed Onitsha Inland Seaport.

The INC stressed that the government should publicise the project's environmental impact assessment report before going ahead with it.

Spokesman, INC, Victor Burubo, told The Guardian that the proposed dredging of the River Niger would have a negative impact on the lives of Rivers and Bayelsa states people who are predominantly into fishing and farming.

His words: "We think that dredging the River Niger is not economically good for the Niger Delta whose people live by fishing and farming. There are enough seaports in the South and the location of the seaports here have not stopped goods moving to Onitsha and Aba. The Onitsha Inland Seaport for which they are trying to dredge the River Niger will create a big problem for us."

He added: "The environmental impact assessment report should be made available to everybody. People do these things because there are contracts and huge profits to be made. What is the guarantee that the river will not in the next 15 years become shallow again because of our poor maintenance culture?"

The INC urged the Federal Government to improve facilities at the Port Harcourt, Onne, Calabar and Warri ports as well as remove the restrictions placed on certain goods from landing at these ports.

It also asked the government to offer incentives to importers and exporters using these ports to encourage better patronage.

Burubo added: "The Federal Government should stop the Onitsha port project and enhance the operational ability of existing southern ports. The Onitsha seaport is unnecessary because it will change the whole ecology of the Niger Delta."

Hopeless ugly midget..ijaw only blocked oguta boat stand and not the Onitsha port which is presently under going concession. I have always warned you to focus on your useless imo state and leave out everything concerning us as you are not worthy to say things about us because you are a condemned liar!

Abagworo:
IPOB does not represent real Igbos. They consist of people who do not deem themselves fit enough to compete in Nigeria but are looking for a paradigm shift to Eldorado country where they can live in luxury without working. They believe its possible if they alone enjoy the oil money with Niger Delta. Therefore learn to separate these lazy societal misfits from us the hard working Ndigbo.

Igbos generally would like a country of theirs consisting only of real Igbos located strictly in Southeast Nigeria. We are very much aware that Ijaws blocked the dredging of [s]River Niger and actualization of Onitsha and Oguta ports[/s] citing environmental reasons. We also know that we do not need oil to develop. We are better off as a united Nigeria than being in a country including people who believe oil is everything. Such people end up lazy cultists without any ambition than dependence on extortion from oil companies.

My view represents the view of educated and historically well tutored Igbos who would rather face reality than beclouded by sentiments and greed. Ndewo

Everyday they indict the useless Jonathan Government but yet Igbos dey mumu. That's Owerri-Okigwe Road and the picture was taken in 2014.
