CareerRe: Has Any Federal Civil Servant Received The New Minimum Wage? by ashafson: 8:26am On Aug 01, 2020
Good morning
I think its time to get a second income source if you dont already have one as a govt worker, and use some part of your salary to support it. This dependency on salary is becoming too much to the extend that people have forgotten that God is the provider not your salary, He is even the one that provide you with the salary you so much depend on.
Start something mo matter how small it is, it will help you save and help you not to be living from one paycheck to another.
thanks

From 4k to 25k tax? Please don't confuse your total deductions(tax, pension, NHF and union) with income tax. Before ippis, my tax was #4,533.92 but from February 2020, it increased to #10,678.68.Your own can't be that different. I am on contediss 9:3
my bro, my total deduction was arround 50k - tax 24.6k, NHF - 5k, Pension - 16k, Union - 4k

U are not very right sir, the killer tax implementation started in 2016, then my tax jumped from 7k to 18k. I just feel because they just introduced it to salaries of higher institutions, u might be lucky it won't be considered when computing their arrears.
exactly, we in the tertiary institution dont have any idea on the killer tax untill feb 2020 moreover the tax increase was bill was put into law in feb 2020 and that what made it look like we were not paying tax b4. for example b4 feb 2020, i was paying 4k as tax but now it is 25k

Well, u may be right though that minimum wage has been paid but the minimum wage payment for others was immediately preceded by the arrears so I felt that since we as federal tertiary hav not received the arrears then it's has not been included for us since we they started paying us.
Lets me try to explain like this:
old min wage +salary increase=NMW
Now, for tertiary institutions:
April 2019 to Jan 2020 were given old salary
Feb2020 to date were given NMW - KILLER TAX (Which was put into law in feb 2020)
killer tax almost diminish the salary increase hence no visible change in salaray after NMW implementation.
But btw April 2019 to Jan 2020, killer tax was not a law, therefore salary increase not diminished.
So, the NMWA will be the salary increase btw April 2019 to Jan 2020 which doesnt include killer tax.
so we are expecting something tangible as NMWA.

Good morning colleagues,

I want to on behalf of the CNO enjoin us to be patient as we are doing EVERYTHING within our means to get the salary issues in Federal Polytechnics resolved.

The reports from IPPIS as it affects the malady associated with April salaries are not coherent as it is evident that this is not a case of batchwise release of salaries. There is no identifiable pattern in the omissions with some chapters recording as much as 80% in omitted salaries.

We have reported the issue to the NLC national Secretariat in our latest update to the labor centre and followed up with a press statement on same issue (to be published later in the day).

We are also in constant consultation with ALL the relevant agencies of government within the permissible limits of the period on the issue.

I enjoin us to persevere until the pandemic induced lock down of the sector is over for a more engaging reaction on this issue and other issues.

Even as it is believed that the omitted April salaries will be released soon, the issues around prompt payment of salaries in full must be a focal point for productive engagement on resumption.

Thank you and accept the warm regards of the CNO.

President.

BTW, which arrears are you people expecting sef? Our minimum wage increase has been swallowed by heavy statutory deductions. This implies that whatever we are entitled to in the name of arrears has also been swallowed by the killer deductions. Where have you ever heard it that arrears of deductions are paid? Sorry to disappoint you, the arrears we are expecting are actually in the pocket of FG in form of statutory deductions angry
The heavy deductions started jan 2020 but as for 2019 no heavy deductions hence we still have some reasonable arrears. Some that were under IPPIS b4 we (fed poly) got in were given infact one of the fed poly (auchi) collected arrears, so we r still expecting.

Oga mi, please relax.

I agree it is speculation but I do not say it lightly.

It's a fact that University staff February salary was paid with Peculiarity Allowance, an allowance specifically meant for staff of Federal Polytechnics and Federal Colleges of Education.

In March, that component was not paid hence the reason for the shortfall in March Salary.

So as it stands, it won't be completely wrong for it to be deducted from April salary.

I don't want it to be deducted but if it is and university staff receive lower than what was paid in March, I won't be surprised.
But even polytechnic staff had shortfalls in their march salaries.
I think the shortfall in march salary was allover for federal govt workers.

that 51k plus was added and 49kplus was total deductions might be misleading as someone might think you are left with 1k. The total deductions is not on the 51k added but on consolidated with includes old consolidated +nmw.. The total deductions on the 51k plus is 11,220(51kplus*22%). The 22% is 2.5%+7.5%+2%+10%.
You may view it the way you like but all i am interested in is the amount that i will get finally and thats around 2k to 3k. As far as i am concerned thats the addition i got as new min wage.
