FamilyRe: I Think Marriage In Africa Is Against Women. by astuto: 8:50pm On Feb 17, 2010
Let's face the truth. Women and young girls in this country don,t believe in their self-sufficiency and some pple (men and women) actually wish to propagate the same mentality among their daughters and friends.
Can u imagine two women asking me to pay for them on a bus? I asked them why. because i am a man, they replied. and these women are traders, at least 40yrs old. It's the seriousness of the problem.

Once women start seeing themselves as being able to contribute significantly at EVERY level of organization of society and stop moping at the men once a situation arises, that is when the respect for them shall greatly increase. Till then, I am simply sorry.

PoliticsRe: Court Stops Probe Of Fashola by astuto: 10:41pm On Feb 11, 2010
Fashola overstepped his boundary by achieving the impossible in Nigeria.

He showed yes, it can be done, and that Nigerian politics doesnt always have to be all talk and no action.

That kind of thing is a taboo back home. Of course the one million and one chop-and-wipe-mouth politrickians will get him for this. Aided and abetted by their baboon stooges of course.

Unfortunately, he was born in the wrong country- people like him tend to be white and from the west, not Africa undecided

not saying there are no crookish whites, but elected officials who actually want to do their job, in the west, dont get shouted down by the unsavoury characters.
This is a precise summary of the situation at hand. I hope the Governor didn't engage in any corruption, but make no mistake about it, this probe is meant to detract from his actions and policies, and to discourage him. there is likely no honest motive behind this.

Nice entry. Don't be prejudiced in choice of a life partner. Looks can be deceptive.

See eh, it's part of d plan to make politics utterly distasteful so that only those with honest hearts shall be inclined to go into it, not those who have a mind to stealing public funds.

Do u get it? Let's make public office very unattractive. And this is one way.

How dem go dey steal our money go dey buy villas for UK? Dem dey mad? angry

Let us unite and enjoy tasty attacking football from the world player of the year and his co-stars and eventually lift d trophy for a record back-to-back feat.

MAN UTD FOR LIFE!
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: UCL Final: Man United(0) Vs Barcelona(2) On Wednesday 27th May by astuto: 7:52pm On May 26, 2009
How's this:

                                MAN UTD 4-0 BARCELONA

Ronaldo 22',67'
Valdes (O.G) 76'grin
Rooney 85'
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: UCL Final: Man United(0) Vs Barcelona(2) On Wednesday 27th May by astuto: 5:55pm On May 26, 2009
Man United all the way!!!

Our UCL trophy is coming back to us!!!

You see, EPL fans who are supporting Barca have only one reason to do so: they dont want Man Utd to have bragging rights for having set a world record of back-to-back titles. Not to mention our unbeaten run of games which no team shall ever equal, except us wink

So u see, join the winning team, Man Utd will subdue Barca tomorrow.
MU4L!
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: UCL Final: Man United(0) Vs Barcelona(2) On Wednesday 27th May by astuto: 3:50pm On May 26, 2009
Una never hear? MAN UTD has won the Uefa Champs League back to back! Who no know?

I am surprised at the votes. I think BEEF and BAD-BELLE influenced most of the votes, sha. U know why? i can't imagine dat Chelsea fans i've discussed with are all rooting for Barca.

No amount of envy, jealousy or dislike can put Man Utd down. We are coming again for our trophy and we shall get it come May 27th.

Man Utd for Life, Man Utd forever!

PoliticsRe: Niger Delta: Is Their Solution In Sight? by astuto: 11:44am On May 26, 2009
The solution will be in sight as soon as an independent body is set up to control d activities of the NDDC. This body may be sourced from within the country or without. Yes.

In addition, the militants shd be granted amnesty shd they turn around. This is in place already by Mr. President. Good.
The militants themselves should state what they want exactly: is it infrastructure and jobs, or is it raw cash to buy jeeps to be speeding on the few scanty roads and bridges?

When these problems are faced head-on, their end will be quite near indeed.

I am not in support of genocide, but we in Nigeria are so backward in economic development that the last thing we need is criminals, disguised as freedom fighters, to compound the problem of inherently evil and corrupt poiticians. JTF shd flush such out.

@michelin89,
Your points are well stated and i quite agree with you on all of them. Except the part where u call us miserable.

I so agree with u. I think d guy has more problems than d girl, bordering on insecurity. Glad to see someone thinking clearly and rising above sentiment. ughhh.

Pls dear nairalanders, do you gain anything from calling names?  Let me know. I am listening.

RomanceRe: What Do I Do To Win Back His Trust! by astuto: 10:02pm On May 25, 2009
I assume the poster is telling the truth. This is what I think:

1. Her boyfriend shd not have asked to speak with d guy. Is he hounding her or what? and they are not even married yet. I dont see why he shd monitor everyone d girl moves with. I dont want to think he's insecure.
2. Please, let us give our girls a break, and for once treat them like people who have a mind of their own. That is the young girl of today, sensible and independent. Let us stop seeing them as weak-minded lazy individuals who sway in whatever direction comfort and material wealth dictates. angry
3.As for the poster, i think dat she MUST talk things over with him so that they reach an amicable compromise. If they cannot trust each other, let them please seperate as quickly as possible. Marriage is not child's play.
PoliticsRe: Who Are The Most Powerful People In Nigeria? by astuto: 9:22pm On May 24, 2009
Did I hear you guys say Religious Leaders?  So not true.

Tell me, is it the religious leaders that determine who wins elections or re-runs?
Is it religious leaders that interact with other leaders from other countries to strike selfish, meaningless deals that affect only a few?
Is it our religious leaders that put the Niger Delta poor where they are, forcing them to turn violent?
Are they the ones that make policies in this country?

Make no mistake, anybody who is blaming our religious leaders for not having helped Nigeria is not being fair at all. They would help, but all that they can do is talk. Do u want them to take up arms or go on hunger strike, what else do u want them to do that they aren't doing already?

POLITICIANS are by far, the most powerful people in this country.
PoliticsRe: Would You Ever Vote For Any Ex-politician's Offspring? by astuto: 8:29pm On May 24, 2009
I might. It depends on whether he/she shows the will to be different and to shun, indeed condemn corruption and nepotism, etc.  If however, the person has good promises and words, while still associating his/her campaign with any of the present day politicians, then sorry! I shall NOT vote the person.

Let's reduce and discourage corruption in dis country. It is not only possible, but very likely when we start to ACT, not sit on our words.
