Collynzo9: I told those who were mocking him after the Presidential elections that the man did the right thing by joining the winning party in his state. The Presidential and National assembly result in Rivers was a clear sign that PDP is the only party in the state, yet people kept mocking him. Now that the party has won the state's Gubernatorial election with a landslide, doesn't it prove that he made the right decision by leaving the sinking ship of APCat the dying minute?
Now that Amaechi's political irrelevance has been proven beyond doubt by his own people, let us see the position he can get in Abuja (if he can declare his assets) Priceless. |

ogb5: He picked the wrong horse and was left exposed and you are happy about it. You are not politically savvy. So as long corrupt politicians pick the right horse and are covered by their fellow politicians, you are happy.
For your information, Ibori was way ahead of his peers in terms of development of his state. The south south politicians have not been able to control the media that is why the the sw dominated media can label anyone of them a crook and it sticks.
But people on the ground compare politicians while voting and they vote for who ever they think represent their interest more. In this case Ibori's daughter got the votes of her local community, respect their vote. |

barcanista: Wike is 100% riverian whether Ikwerre(or igbo). He has the right to rule like every other person in rivers State. I'm 100% Riverine and a proudly supporter of the people's choice. We(Riverine) are not people with "born to rule" mentality. We supported Odili, an Ndoni man(or Igbo man) for 8years. We voted for Omehia(Ikwerre) in 2007 against Princewill, a Kalabari Prince. We voted Amaechi(Ikwerre) against Abiye Sekibo, an okrikan and riverine in 2011. Now we've voted Wike against Dakuku. The message is simple, there is no division in Rivers State whether upland or Riverine.
This is a victory for all rivers State and we are happy! As much as I hate quoting you, I had to, for this great comment. There was never any division in Rivers State. Amaechi and his crew can now move to Abuja. |

Politics › Re: Confirmed Results: Wike Leads In Rivers - Vanguard by atlwireles: 6:33pm On Apr 12, 2015 |
Reference: But that is why APC lost, Amaechi made himself larger than life, larger than the party and most certainly larger than the candidate Peterside to such a degree I have not seen before. It was a grave error. His advisers missed the point.
I predicted a strong opposition to Jonathan from the South-South similar to what OBJ experienced in the west between 1999 and 2007 as a tool for broadening and deepening democracy so I was happy Ameachi took up the challenge.
But two things went wrong. He couldn't stay on issues bordering good governance and democracy. He often went personal and sentimental.
Secondly he couldn't broaden his appeal (due to his average personality) beyond Rivers State (I hope Wike is listening) to other territories in the South-South BEFORE taking his message and allegiances abroad to the 'perceived oppressors' of his people. He did not consolidate power. No foundation.
Let me be clear on this and anyone reading this has to understand. That this is why power should go to the minorities. The very INEXPERIENCE of Jonathan in politiking is the same thing that has brought down Ameachi. The average politician from that region is years behind his western and northern counterparts. They have and will make strategic mistakes. No fault of theirs. They have no footsteps to follow when it comes to high-wire politics. We should have let them both continue for the good of the Nigerian project.
On balance the South-South has lost two of its pre-eminent politicians within the span of two weeks in mutually assured destruction due to naivety. The South-South on balance has lost. We have lost nothing, Amaechi and Goodluck are two different men. Jonathan lose was sad but the SS,will be better for it. Amaechi's defeat will be a history lesson taught in the SS for years to come. |

Liegeria: Lol. Where did Wike opposition start from, Rivers or Abuja? Stop deceiving yourself, you know how this game is played. After May 29, Wike can't control the police and the army as he pleases. He will be left to his own popularity and performance. If he is not popular and his performance is nothing to write about, he will be sent packing in 2019. Wike/PDP never left rivers state, also APC was never on the ground in the state. Please forget the news media propaganda. Amaechi can make his noise from Abuja, it will fall on deaf ears. Wike will perform because Nigerian politics has been forever changed with this election. |
Politics › Re: Confirmed Results: Wike Leads In Rivers - Vanguard by atlwireles: 5:37pm On Apr 12, 2015 |
edynasty: all those spewing rubbish about Amaechi and co need to understand that the man has never lost and will never loose. Besides PDP can have the state to themselves while Amaechi (APC) will nominate all the ministers from the state and probably Bayelsa added to the APC federal govt. All his defeated soldiers will be duly compensated. Simple! Ask Amaechi, what he needs more, access to trillions from Rivers State or ministerial nominations. |

Politics › Re: Confirmed Results: Wike Leads In Rivers - Vanguard by atlwireles: 5:27pm On Apr 12, 2015 |
Liegeria: One thing is sure. Wike will have a strong opposition in APC for the next four years. He will be under pressure to perform. I hope he is secured enough to hire competent hands to work with him. Which APC? not in Rivers State. Without opposition in the state and the Nigerdelta/SE region, performance will be stellar in the next 4 years. Our politician leaders know what needs. Is now every man for himself, like I have always said, tail or head, my people will always come out on top. |
