DaddyNimo:I am giving the best advice for free, what's your advice on the issue? Abi na to curse people you don't even know online be your own. Na wah for you o. |
immhotep:Why? |
For the purpose of argument and public engagement, Airline business is one of the few business that is absolutely difficult to operate without the cooperation of the USA and the US financial sector, mr onyema will doom his company if he fails to seperate himself immediately from the company to free it from his individual criminal charges. I have read several reactions that the US or people's are using the US legal system to unfairly target mr onyema. My opinion is that that is highly unlikely, 1). US only comes after you if you are acting against the USA interest. Mr Onyema is not competing against any US interest, his Airline is not competing in any route that any US airline is currently plying and non of his proposed international routes is in competition with any American airline. He wanted to fly Houston - Lagos, India- Lagos, China- Lagos, London- lagos and south America, none of this routes will compete with American interest hence the reason for my opinion. 2) Mr onyema has one thing going for him his airline uses 100% American made aircraft, he has Boeing and Embraer aircraft for those who don't know Embraer though a Brazilian company but, Boeing owns a substantial part of Embraer and collaborate with Embraer for designing a d development. This is a major plus for mr onyema because being a customer of an American aircraft manufacturer he will have a lot of support in the US business community. The reverse would have been the case if his airline was using Airbus aircraft. For those who don't know Boeing is American number one export. The US government listen when Boeing speaks. Boeing's interest is American government interest. 3). Mr onyema is charged in the federal court in the state of Georgia, a plus for him is that the state of Georgia especially Atlanta has the most progressive and wealthiest blacks population in the US, hence a large population of black professionals in Georgia, hence mr onyema will have the cream of the crop lawyers to choose from. As opposed to being charged in a court in a state with few black people. 4). Mr onyema stand a good chance of winning this case, if they investigate the case since 2010, and only brought charges after 9yrs of investigations it means that the evidence against him is weak if not they would have move against him earlier. 5). America is a very litigious society, and that means this kind of allegations are common place in America, hence there is expertise on how to handle such cases successful, mr onyema should look for the best American lawyers for his case. And invest his time away from his chairmanship position from his airline if he chooses to resign. to face this criminal case squarely. 6) mr onyema is a very wealthy man, that helps a lot in legal crisis as you can afford the best legal representation. 7). Even if mr onyema loses his case which is highly unlikely if he handles it properly. He will not likely go to jail, he will only be required to pay a fine which will be settled out of court. . In my opinion Mr onyema has a favorable prognosis. |

nameo:He is charged for funneling money that was supposed to he used for purchase of aircrafts into accounts of companies that the US suspects might be a shell company. And forgery of letter of credit. Those are the allegations so for nothing has been proven in the court of law . The case will go to trial, all mr onyema need to do is hire the best American lawyers and prove that those companies are not shell companies and that the Letters of credit was authentic. Its not as big a case as it sounds, it's just because of who is involved. And so far I am not pleased the way he is handling the case. He is charged in Georgia USA and his lawyers are speaking from Nigeria! Really by now a law firm in the state of Georgia should be speaking on his behalf not some Nigerian lawyer with some weak language. First step in saving the jobs AirPeace provides and the airline, is for him and his CFO to resign and seperate themselves from the company so the company can operate efficiently without the criminal case hanging over them. Mr onyema and Egahaga should become former chairman and CFO of AirPeace immediately. |
netpro:Where was that established? You are just spinning rumor. I bet you have not read the charges against mr onyema or you are just being obtuse. He is charged for funneling money that was supposed to he used for purchase of aircrafts into accounts of companies that the US suspects might be a shell company. And forgery of letter of credit. Those are the allegations so for nothing has been proven in the court of law . The case will go to trial, all mr onyema need to do is hire the best American lawyers and prove that those companies are not shell companies and that the Letters of credit was authentic. naijaguy123456:In which court of law was that established? Remember an allegation is not a crime. It's just an allegation until proven in court. I can wake up tomorrow an allege that you are the antichrist, that doesn't make it so until I go to court and prove my allegation, and a court of law agree with me. |
netpro:This does not call for any nationalization of airline. Have you read the charges against onyema? This is not as deep as you think. All he need to do is to resign with his CFO, and face the criminal charges against them. Hire the best lawyers in the US and clear the case . Arik and Aero that was nationalized via AMCON, how are they now? |
kettykin:Yeah, AirPeace chairman should act wisely by resigning his post. To create a seperation for his company to operate devoid of fraud allegations. It will be very difficult to run an aviation company without a dollar account or US banking services as aviation is very dollar dependent. As long as the US is involved any account that has this 2 indicted individuals as signatories will be frozen and not allowed in the US financial sector until they are cleared from any wrongdoing. For Air peace to function efficiently, the Airline board needs to be restructured immediately. |
ednut1:Mear allegation. go to court and prove your claim. |
jayson87:Air peace is the largest west African airline. It has more aircraft than any other west African airline and covers more routes/destination. This claim is not in dispute it's a fact. |
What do you guys think? Should the indicted individual resign? |
In order to save the airlines image and allow it to run freely during the period that the fraud trial of the two individual will last in the US courts, The best thing would be for the its chairman and CFO Allen onyema and Egahaga to step down from their roles in the company pending their clearance from court of all corrupt charges. Mr onyema who is a patriotic Nigerian that has created many jobs for Nigerians and West African and loves his people should allow that love for country to drive him to resign and save the company reputation from fraud until he is cleared from the allegations which I hope he will be cleared. In the meantime his wife is the Vice chairman of air peace, she can take over as chairman and another person can take over as CFO of the airline pending their clearance. This is the standard practice worldwide. If this is done it will in the meantime save the airlines a lot of trouble as they can open fresh business account in the USA devoid of signatories of people facing financial fraud charges in the US courts. This will enhance the operational efficiency of the airline. Mr Onyema and Egahaga would now use the time away from the daily demands from the airline operations to focus squarely on the case against them. By setting up a top US criminal defense team made of US lawyers, not the ones that am seeing making weak statements on Nigerian media. This case might likely take a while for the trial to be concluded, so to save his company during this trial period, he should do the honorable thing by resigning as that will not be an admission of guilt but a strategic move to save Airpeace. Once that is done the fraud case will now involve former Air Peace chairman and former CFO thereby creating the needed seperation for the Airline.

Canada follow follow, canadian legal system is a toy for the United states government legal system. Whenever the us government barks the Canadian govt. Must jump. Huawei China executive case is a reference point. |
Smithkafors:It's not about the amount of money seized, when the US Governments freeze your account, it means the treasury department will locate and freeze every account related to your business until the govt. Clears you of the crime for which your account was frozen. So until Mr onyema is cleared of all criminal charges, it will be very difficult for his company to transact any business in the USA. And as you know, Aviation is a dollar dependent business. So except you are willing to live in denial of the effect of the frozen US account on the operation of the airline, The reality is that this case will affect Air peace Operations. |
Peacemaker5129:Goodluck. |
Anambralstson:I feel for the employees, you don't control my feelings. The people working for air peace are my people. |
idid:Signing a deal is different from paying for the aircraft. When you sign for an aircraft its like signing an MOU. money may not be involved initially, it just mean you have placed an order for the aircraft. You can also cancel that order or transfer it or modify it. |
SalamRushdie: |
SalamRushdie:I doubt this Buhari govt. Will help. Look what they are doing with Arik and Aero which the Amcon took over, under Amcon Arik went from being a major international airline with US, UK etc routes to becoming a domestic airline. |
idid:What's a rumor? Do you even know the meaning of the word? If airpeace account is frozen how will they operate a dollar dependent business? |
With the seizure of about $14million dollars belonging to the company, ordering of parts for the airline maintenance, payment for insurance, payment of foreign personnel and other sundry charges will be hampered. Aviation is heavily dollar dependent, if you lose access to your dollar account it becomes very difficult to operate. Even if mr Onyema is eventually cleared of the charges after the case undergoes trial, which in American courts can take months if not years, but in the short term, the company will find it very difficult to operate with the seizure and freezing of his company US account. This will hurt Air peace operations, the largest airline operator in Nigeria, and west Africa. The repercussions will be enormous, over 3000 direct employees, several pilots, engineers and other professionals about to become unemployed because of avoidable mistakes. |
UnimkeAk:Address the 419 budget proposal by your 419 gov.prof and stop calling akwa ibom. I only responded because you mentioned/insulted my state.
