Politics / Trump Fires John Bolton As National Security Adviser by atseyi(m): 6:23pm On Sep 10, 2019
President Donald Trump said Tuesday he had fired National Security Adviser John Bolton after a string of disagreements between the two over how the U.S. should handle North Korea, Afghanistan and Iran.

Trump announced on Twitter that he had asked for Bolton's resignation, which he received this morning, after the president had "disagreed with many of his suggestions."

“I informed John Bolton last night that his services are no longer needed at the White House. I disagreed strongly with many of his suggestions, as did others in the Administration, and therefore I asked John for his resignation, which was given to me this morning,” Trump said on Twitter.

Lol :-) I laugh in spanish, EgyptAir - I hope the boy read the terms and conditions of the airline before accepting to fly with them, Most people don't and these businesses aren't dumb. They have all circumstances stated in their terms to favor them and not the passenger , hence it's difficult to sue if you don't read and understand their 100 page of conditions to fly with them. Most people don't !! Wish him best of luck cool grin

The more ,the better! thinking logically, the number of youth's taken these responsibility with their vision is less that 10% in Nigeria. If more youths can implement their creativity like in music today, the number of unemployment will drop drastically. what is wrong with agriculture, manufacturing(engineering student and graduates), what is wrong with information technology, what is wrong with all of these sectors and many more Farming is dirty but put food on every table, manufacturing is tedious as it takes a lot of process, meanwhile technology is too technical that Nigerian youth's cant invent

As for the clasification of nigerian youths and politicians which you have done in a wrong way ,I will forgive you for that
But one thing I will ask you is this

This blog that we all enjoy is being championed by who (seun osewa) is he not a youth , a gradguate and enterpranuere , do you know how many youth that are on his payroll as supper moderators ands moderators that one apart

There are many nigerian youths in divers field helping the economy improve with their skills and talents therby feeding many families by employing them
I will name a few companies that are own by youth ,when I said youth I mean youth 18 to 40yrs

Orientra oil and gas
Gtonia oil and gas
Beneth and philps
Belzechs
Gbuzon int ltd
Merit telecoms
Mudi
Fida consult
Merury communications
Pine field drilling
Meks engerneering

Well said, i think other Nigerian youth should read this, leaders have failed and i think youths.... new graduates should go through this type of orientation in Nigeria. Creativity makes a brighter future for generations and you are not successful unless you have impacted lives.

humilitypays:
Good morning my brother, yes I know that our so-called leaders and politicians have really destroyed Nigeria and made us to lose faith and even direction, but still, the few lucky Nigerians like this op, who were lucky enough to secure an oil company job which if he's really honest, must be earning anything between 500k and above monthly plus some other allowances (hazard allowances), etc.

With such salary, he should be able to save like 250k every month, now multiply 250k by 12, that's 3,000,000 million naira savings every year, now multiply it by 4, that's 12,000,000 million naira in 4 years.

What I did is the least calculation because if truly he works with any of the IOCs, then his take home every month shouldn't be less than 700k after 4yrs....but let's assume he earned less, that means he ought to have at least 12million naira savings by now.

With 12million naira savings, and 4yrs active-relevant industry experience, if this fella still doesn't know how to wisely invest that 12million to start yielding at least 100k profit monthly, then he ought to go back to his village and join his grandparents to do peasant farming.

If all the oil company workers we have in Nigeria have this creative investment mentality, we ought to have uncountable number of flourishing small companies employing other youths...but hell no, these guys squander their fat salary+allowances on runs girls, keeping girlfriends in all Nigerian campuses, marrying more than 2 wives secretly, touring the world unnecessarily not even for investment or business trips but for fun.

This is our problem in Nigeria, we love easy comfort! Reason every Nigerian youths dream is to secure job in an oil company to start receiving fat pay and buy luxury car and start to live flamboyant life instantly with no plan to own their own successful company.

For those who may say I would do worst if I am in their shoe, let me give u a big background info of who I am.

I am one of the best graduating students (3rd best with the 3rd highest CGPA) in my school during my set, I got oil jobs (NLNG, both got screened out cos of age), was among the final applicants in NNPC wuru-wuru recruitment which I clearly got on merit but because of the usual Nigerian who-do-know, I got lynched during appointment letter issuance.

I made final stage of: Schlumberger, Oil Test, Mantrac, DHL, Glo, NLN ship manning, NNPC twice, etc, etc.

Now, the very day I got notification that I have passed NLNG final interview, I quickly told my elder brother that we need to register a company...a construction/engineering company so that once I return from NLNG training in Liverpool, we will use my allowances to set the company up running because my brother has awesome experience in engineering/construction, coupled with mine.

My intention was for us to own a successful civil engineering and construction firm in the next 5 - 10yrs that will solve lots of civil engineering problems we have presently in our Nigerian cities

We carried on with that dream even after NLNG dropped me cos of age.

And I am still trying my best in another field.

So in conclusion, most Nigerian youths lack creativity and direction; all they want is a good job in another creative man's company so that they can have easy life without laboring for it, it's shameful! The future of Nigeria is in a big mess...who will employ our unborn children if we all refuse to suffer and create companies today that will provide more good jobs for our unborn kids

Our politicians will stole our national common wealth and go and save it in developed countries, seriously, black man is sick!!! cry

Your career is bound to change at any point and this means either getting more experience and well exposed or been roaming within a circle as you are right now, feeling u've seen it all. Ur grades in school are brilliant and you have a better future than working in an oil company in Nigeria. Don't be like the eagle that died without knowing how to fly... Move ahead bruh!! take risk not only to be successful for urself but to be able to impact other's with your success... better opportunities await you in canada, you get to reach it.

bicmitchum:
This is a point in my life where I really need other opinions about my pending decision.
Here are the points:

-I graduated first class some years ago after completing studies at the University of Lagos
-Secured numerous masters admission with and without scholarship and intended to go for masters immediately, but got an attractive job offer with an oil multinational. Took the job offer.
-I've worked now about 4+ years with this multinational and the going has been incredibly terrific. Even with the incredible layoffs in my company and in the oil industry, it looks very likely I'll continue to keep my job.
-Every year I have continued to apply for masters in universities abroad given my intention to really acquire a masters and possibly a PhD degree. Never once accepted any of the offers I have been getting. Simply ignored them. As the years rolled by, the offers are no longer coming as usual. I'm getting turned down by schools.
-This year I have now obtained an offer to complete my masters at the No.1 ranked university in Canada, my desired destination. The only offer I got among the top schools I applied to. No scholarships.
-I'm yet unentitled to study leave

Here's the question: do I quit my job and go complete this masters in a really reputable school or do I stay back in Nigeria and continue slugging it out in the oil industry? Who knows what will come of the industry as the oil price continues to flutter? Who knows how my future might turn out if I leave to go chase the masters?

Here's my decision: Work is getting boring as time races on. I'm not getting any younger. I'm in my very late twenties. I should quit, go chase my masters and embrace any uncertainty that may come out of that. If I'm unable to secure an attractive job I'll go with academics for life whether in Canada or in Nigeria. I might even secure a Canadian citizenship. Canada is a lovely destination where I don't mind spending a large chunk of my life.

My worry: I have a comfortable life here. Why shake the bottle? Why stir the pot? Racism is still rife in these "white" countries. My life could get unbearable mixing in a culture I'm not familiar with.

Any inputs, please.

Nigeria with so much resources, yet leaders have no idea what to do or where to start. Instead, they put people through suffering as an excuse to move the country forward, what a country where politics and policies fall behind intelligence to tackle the economy situation without putting people through pains. In the cause of making the economy work ''The Government'' , they do not put the people into consideration ''for all they care, they can kill themselves'' they act! Are they trying to wipe out another generation to make the country a more worse place again for the next generation since 1960 ? Yet, same people keep exchanging positions in government and recruiting people that sum 16+6=24 undecided with solutions that only works for them and their generations.
The youths are hungry and angry, they go to school with no hope for the future, they have skill's they can not utilize, they are rendered useless, hopeless with so much intelligence. Yet, there are sectors of the economy that can put people to work everyday (Manufacturing, Agriculture, Informations Technology,Solid Materials,Tourism, Mining, Retail,Healthcare, construction; just to mention a few, but the economy depend on petroleum resources lipsrsealed undecided Where is Nigeria going??

Nicur:
The Presidency has dismissed the allegations by former Governor Ibrahim Shekarau of Kano State that the Buhari administration is insensitive to the plight of Nigerians.

Reacting to the allegation in Abuja, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, Garba Shehu, enjoined Mr. Shekarau to stop insulting the intelligence of Nigerians with his false and misleading allegations.
He noted that the “audacity of Shekarau to preach about sensitivity is incredibly amazing, considering the large-scale stealing of public funds by the unseated PDP government at the expense of the welfare of the people.

“The greatest insensitivity to the welfare of the people is epic corruption for which the PDP had a notorious and unrivalled record in our recent democratic history of bad governance.”

The Presidential aide explained that “the greed of PDP leaders respects no boundaries of decency and rationality, so much that they could illegally steal any funds within their grip or reach, including monies meant for the security of Nigerians and the welfare of soldiers fighting terrorism in the Northeast.”
According to Mr. Shehu, Mr. Shekarau’s colleagues in the PDP government that he served have been coughing out monies that they illegally stole while in office.

“Bringing misery to your fellow countrymen and women on account of your greed and thievery is the worst example of insensitivity,” he said.

He said that the wellbeing of the citizens was at the heart of the President and for this reason, “the administration is seeking permanent solutions, not temporary ones to the county’s economic woes by first securing it, developing infrastructure and diversifying its economy.’’

Mr. Shehu reassured that the several measures put in place by the Buhari administration would bear fruition in a matter of time.

On the current fuel scarcity, Mr. Shehu said the Buhari administration had saved one trillion naira on account of removing subsidy which was fraudulently making some cabals richer at the expense of the welfare of the people who were being short-changed.
He explained that the Buhari administration had significantly reduced the rate of corruption and frustrated people with corrupt and fraudulent tendencies.

According to him, those that benefitted from subsidy fraud are using their illegal gains to finance smear campaigns against the Buhari administration on the social media and other forums.

Addressing the issue of insecurity, Mr. Shehu said the Boko Haram terrorist group had been so “thoroughly militarily weakened that they no longer have the capabilities and staying power to confront our troops, or occupy any part of Nigerian territory without being decisively expelled.”

He recalled that markets and bus stations that were closed three years ago in the Northeast “are now being reopened, thanks to the decisive restoration of relative peace in the area by our now motivated and reinvigorated troops.

“The Buhari administration is also proud to say that poor Nigerians that were once displaced by terrorist attacks are now returning to their liberated towns and villages, and this government won’t relent until it rids the country of the vestiges of terrorism.”

According to the presidential aide, the commitment of the Buhari administration to fighting corruption is firm and irrevocable, and that “every stolen kobo would be recovered and channelled into improving the welfare of Nigerians.”

xfire:
I'm back. I will continue..............

PRE-NYSC AND NYSC DAYS

After my graduation I was sad and depressed because I didn't graduate with a first class. I never imagined my life without a first class. It haunted me for long, and to be sincere, it took me more than a year to fully recover from it. I feared for the job market because I felt I was disadvantaged age-wise, especially with my 'pure-water' 2-1 degree. I stayed at home for 6 months after graduation before I was mobilized for service. During that period, I whiled away time by teaching in a secondary school. I also began subscribing for job email alerts, and started reading online job websites and the famous Guardian newspaper. Eventhough I wasn't eligible to apply, I started studying the pattern of job vacancies. I was always interested in the companies that were recruiting and their requirements. I wrote my first amateur CV upon graduation. I have since refined my CV writing skills. Thank God I don't have to write personal CVs again, at least not anytime soon. I will only review people's CV's from time to time. I will talk a bit about good CV writing later in the thread.
I taught in a public secondary school during my NYSC days. This gave me ample time to socialize and also prepare for the labour market. Many of my colleagues 'worked' their service to Lagos where they served in big organizations I could only dream of. But I made use of the only resource I had - TIME. I started reading about how to how to write good CVs and prepare for interviews. I also started putting in my applications 6 months to the end of my service year. I applied for the PTDF overseas scholarship. I learnt about various job sites during this period. One surprising fact is that I observed that many of my fellow 'corpers' had little or no information about job hunting, CV writing, interview skills and presentation. A lot of corp members could not write a simple CV. Many had little or no computer knowledge. Many had very poor writing skills. With my basic CV writing art, I had to help many of the corps members to write their CV's especially those about to pass out. In many cases, I followed them to the cyber cafe to create emails for them and make online applications for them (then the internet was accessible as it is today). I still know many graduates today that cannot write and speak properly. Many of them are still without job or are currently underemployed. And I doubt if they can improve their employment status if they don't make themselves employable. This leads me to lesson #5.

LESSON 5: Basic writing skills, good communication skills and computer literacy are 3 fundamental elements of employability.
When it is said that many Nigerian graduates are unemployable, they simply mean they lack simple communication skills most of the time. They simply cannot speak, write or express themselves comprehensibly enough. It's unfortunate but this is true in some cases. In addition, it is simply unacceptable to be a computer illiterate in this information age. Many job vacancies are posted online and most information are electronic in nature. I have a friend (from the same village) who studied accounting. He is young and sharp but he could hardly speak or write English without grammatical errors due to poor primary and secondary education. He went for various interviews during his NYSC days but was not successful in any. I had to encourage him to start reading books and writing. I also advised him to get a good part-time English teacher, if possible. Guess what? He got one. Today, he is gainfully employed in a bank. If you are poor in communication, start working on it now! The secret is practice. Practice, practice, practice! There is no alternative. Communication skill is quite important in oral interview stage, and I will elaborate on that when I get there. You don't have to be an orator like Barack Obama, or Martin Luther King Jr. But you need to be able to comprehend others, and be able to express yourself in a formal setting. My communication skills was not as good as it is now. I developed it with constant practice and discipline. As a matter of fact, I am not a gifted orator. I am still improving on my presentation skills. Till date, I still practice ahead of time before I make formal presentations in meetings, except if it is impromptu. Presentation skill is also important for career progression. Good presentation skills gives a positive impression about your intellectual and leadership ability (even if it is just an impression!).
That is why I feel pity for many job seekers who can hardly write properly but will keep using shorthand. Posting and commenting clearly on forums like Nairaland is one of the ways of improving your writing skills.

Anyway, i flew Emirates and it cost abt 230k for an adult to Califonia but the price WILL vary depending on the airline and destination. i got to the airport abt 9am for a flight of 2:45pm and i was glad i did, i was the 1st on the line for check in, am not too sure but i think checking in started abt 9:30am or 10am. my check in was smooth but una know na, 9ja with begging and i have to wet ground but dint spend much sha just abt 2k.
After the check in i then took my time to look for were i will eat mama put for the last time because i may not get that taste for a long time to come. they called for boarding and those with infant, childern, senior boys and girls and business or first class were allowed to board 1st. we got to dubai, spent about 7hrs and boarded for Califonia and on landing i went straight to the immigrant line or section and againm i was the first on the line, we got processed and within about 40min they were done.
my passport was stamped and America here i am.
