Sports › Has Ghana's New Kit Overtaken Nigeria As This Year's Must-have Shirt? by Atunga(op): 4:23pm On Sep 30, 2020 |
You'll know by now how fond we are of Nigeria's football kits of late. They have very quickly become the market leaders in must-have football gear for fans and neutrals alike. Their iconoclastic designs and a very welcome divergence from the norm makes them stand a mile apart. Of course a lot of credit goes to Nike for realising that people want something different and something unique to the culture of that particular nation. Well now it seems that PUMA have taken the baton and decided to fight fire with fire with a beautifully unique design for Ghana's new change unique. They've done away with boring templates and identikit (excuse the pun) manufacture to produce to something dripping with unique character and style. Of course it is based on the national colours of red, green and yellow, with the latter being the dominant hue. The design incorporates bolds blocks and stripes, with stars (from Ghana's flag) being a reoccurring motif. What do you think? Are we looking at the new epitome of style for this year's football kits, or does Nigeria still reign supreme? https://www.joe.co.uk/sport/ghana-new-kit-251406

Foreign Affairs › The New York Times Publishes Bombshell Report On Donald Trump's Tax Returns by Atunga(op): 8:57am On Sep 28, 2020 |
President Donald J Trump paid precisely zero dollars in federal income taxes in 10 of the last 15 years, according to a bombshell report published in The New York Times on Sunday. And in 2016 and 2017, the president paid a mere $750 in income taxes. Responding to a question during an evening news conference, Trump described the report as "fake news" and then claimed to have paid "a lot" of taxes. “I paid a lot, and I paid a lot of state income taxes to New York State," the president said when pressed on the subject by reporters. According to the New York Times, Trump was able to avoid paying income taxes for 10 years because the losses his property businesses generated offset any income he earned from his stake in the television show "The Apprentice" and other ventures. Equally important in his efforts to zero out his tax bill were numerous write-offs. Among the items Trump labeled as business expenses and deducted from his taxable income were $109,433 worth of linens and silver, $197,829 for landscaping at Mar-a-Lago, and $70,000 worth of haircuts during "The Apprentice" years. Trump has fiercely guarded his tax returns since he first rode down a golden escalator to announce his candidacy for president back in 2015. Since then he's kept up the fight by filing court challenges against those who have sued for access—like the U.S. House of Representatives. Now he says that information about his taxes "will all be revealed," but unfortunately for Trump, it looks like the New York Times beat him to the punch. https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/amp34183748/donald-trump-tax-returns-new-york-times/ |

Politics › Leah Sharibu: Henry Claudius Accuses Reno Omokri Of Taking Grants, Selling Books by Atunga(op): 12:42am On Jun 23, 2019 |
A financial consultant, Henry Claudius, and some other Twitter users have accused a former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, of diverting funds meant for the family of the abducted Dapchi schoolgirl, Leah Sharibu. Using the Twitter hashtag #RenoUndarted, some Nigerians on Twitter accused Omokri of printing T-shirts branded with Sharibu’s name, writing books and selling them and diverting the proceeds for personal gains. They also accused him of collecting funds from some local non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and international charity organisations in Sharibu’s name and keeping the funds for himself. Tweeting, Claudius wrote, "Omokiri's claim that he wrote a best seller is false. The book is worthless on Amazon. However, the book he wrote on Sharibu is selling for $16.This is how the scam works. He will visit churches worldwide, introduced himself as pastor and complain of Christian persecution in Nigeria. "Unsuspecting congregation believed his words that Christians were being persecuted. He will talk about Sharibu that she's currently being held and President Muhammadu Buhari is not doing anything about it. They started buying the books to learn more, people started donating to his charity. "Then he will introduce his other books. The bottom line is that Leah is used as a marketing strategy to deceive unsuspecting Christians worldwide that they are donating money to free persecuted Christians in Nigeria http://saharareporters.com/2019/06/22/leah-sharibu-henry-claudius-accuses-reno-omokri-taking-grants-selling-books-dapchi-girls |

The same people criticizing ekiti vote buying are the same people against this move by inec to stop it
Abi how does politicians pay for vote?
Is it not after you have voted and you take the picture of the party you vote for & show them that you get paid?
Even if an electorate decided to vote for a party of his choice he/she will be forced to vote for the party that will pay money
But now it's different you can collect their money & still vote ur conscience
There won't be any evidence you didn’t vote for them
Those of you shouting they don't want you to snap results sheet you can do that but your phone will not follow you to polling booth
Polling booth not polling unit
Be guided The most sensible post on this topic so far. Phones will not be allowed at polling booths not polling units. You can snap any other things but not you thumb-printed ballot papers. I wonder if the people kicking against this are the people planning to sell their votes on election day. You |

So, it was MJ's son that invented blanket!!!
quote author=hahn post=35056686]
Actually, whites name things after themselves as opposed to blacks who name themselves after something or a phrase. For instance, the ball point pen commonly referred to as the "biro" was invented by Laszlo Biro and that's why people refer to it as a "biro" same goes for mecedez(the wife) and benz(the inventor) as well as soichiro honda wis the founder of honda cars etc. Also, some names originate from their ancestors who were once know to be in the business of whatever their name is. Like the German name "Kleinwaechter" which translates to "watch repairer" was the business their ancestors were into.
In their world the man gives meaning to the name and not the other way around[/quote] |
Politics › Police Affairs Minister Confirms Ekiti Rigging Tape by Atunga(op): 6:16pm On Feb 11, 2015 |
Contrary to attempts made by the former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musliu Obanikoro to rubbish the leaked the audio tape on how the Ekiti governrship election was rigged in favour of Governor Ayodele Fayose, one of the participants in the meeting, the Police Affairs Minister, Jelili Adesiyan, has admitted that the meeting actually took place. The audio tape which was leaked last week, also featured other top officials of the government and Aliyu Momoh, a Brigadier General. Adesiyan, however said the conversation in the tape was an argument between Fayose and Gen. Momoh after the former accused the later of being bribed by the then incumbent governor of the state, Kayode Fayemi. “Fayose accused the General who supervised the Ekiti election of taking bribe from Fayemi and APC, that was two days before the election. They called me because they said the General disarmed policemen and I told him to allow the policemen to do their job,” he told the Sunday Punch newspaper. “I was there, Fayose was there, Otunba Omisore was there, Senator Obanikoro was there. I am not denying that there was a conversation but it was not what they are saying. “Nigerians are not dummies. These people are mischievous; somebody recorded the scene but let everybody listen to it. Listen to it yourself and get back to me.” Adesiyan, said the leaking of the tape was another dubious move by the All Progressive Congress, APC, to discredit the victory of Mr Fayose after their previous attempts failed. “In order to set the record straight, we say emphatically that the offensive YouTube (audio) was unfounded and meant to hoodwink the unwary and portray the PDP and its leaders across the South West in a bad light. “How did Omisore and those mentioned in the YouTube (audio) rig election when all the stakeholders in Ekiti voted for Fayose? Initially, the APC claimed it was stomach infrastructure that won the people’s mandate for Fayose. When that would not fly, they say it was photo-chromic rigging. “Now, it is army and police who were coordinated to rig for Fayose; what balderdash!” Read full story here: http://www.today.ng/news/police-affairs-minister-confirms-ekiti-rigging-tape/ |

You can come to Lagos to buy food because the farmlands in Rivers and Bayelsa are destroyed by uncleaned oil spills over the years.

Going to the north? You cant try it because of the Boko-Haram insecurity you could not quell.
That international business u want to do at retirement, you will do so at bitter huge cost cos you will spend over N200 to buy a dollar. You could only make d Naira depreciate rather than appreciate.
As you go home you will have distrust and disrespect for the Nigerian system, because you know how corrupt you left it.
