I find it amazing that it took Nairaland (not other experienced military institutions such as Janes) just 2 days to expose to the WORLD that Gripen CANNOT do basic combat maneuvers. It cannot do what it was designed to do. By detailed analysis of videos and crashes, members of this forum have exposed the lies of SAAB. I am truelly, honestly impressed.
It was exposed in 1989 crash and confirmed again in 2008 crash......and I have been shouting screaming about it on Nairaland since two years ago ! I always said repeatedly that Gripen maneuverability is same as F-7 jet.

Countries buy Gripen are paying $68 million for political, commercial, or criminal reasons.....

1. Sweden bought 75% of all Gripens because they manufacture it. Political.

2. South Africa bought highest number of Gripen exports yet, because manufacturer bribed them. Criminal.

3. Brazil is buying Gripen jet in exchange for Sweden buying about 100 Brazilian made Super Tucanos. Commercial.

4. Czech bought Gripen on lease agreement. Commercial

5. Hungary bought Gripen on lease agreement. Commercial

The nations refusing to buy Gripen have seen things, India, Denmark, Norway....long list of those who evaluated Gripen and ran away.

Why pay $68 million for a jet that has same maneuverability with F-7 jet ? Who want's to be a fool ?

I hope you South Africans have learnt your bitter lessons by fire by force !

You started by insulting the JF-17 Thunder, calling it junk, making ridicule of Pakistan a 3rd world country that has built a jet fighter that you South Africans CANNOT build in your country's entire national history.

You joined the American/European news reporters and analysts who are always trying to spoil the JF-17 Thunder's image and run down it's technical capabilities out of envy because reasonably priced JF-17 will spoil market for the over-priced European/American jets. Envy against a better deal achieved by a 3rd world country like Pakistan to knock off the white-men who self over-priced aircraft to the world and still control the sales/transfer terms/after sales parts supply plus unfair arms embargoes and sanctions against their own customers.

Pakistani JF-17 Thunder has broken the backbone of white people's domination of the world jet fighter market for ever !

Now you Southies insulting the JF-17 calling it junk, have seen the retaliation from we Nigerians, we have exposed many of the lies and false information/performance specifications marketed worldwide to promote the over-priced over-rated JAS Junk Aircraft Systems Gripen jet that CANNOT do basic combat maneuver without crashing or land safely without crumbling when least expected.

The tide turned against the Gripen yesterday with it's dark secret weaknesses exposed.

Next time, think twice before you insult the JF-17.....because the Gripen is actually a less capably combat aircraft if we start digging out things!

Now apologize to $25 million JF-17 Thunder so your sins can be forgiven you to save the $68 million Gripen from further embarrassments !

In conclusion all countries that fly Gripen jets should sell them as scrap, and rather buy JF-17's. All operators of F-16's should also sell them and rather buy JF-17's. Infact all airforces around the world looking at purchasing "non stealth" aircraft should all purchase JF-17's. With Nigeria's current 2 squadrons of this amazing aircraft, they have shown the world how efficient this platform it is.

PEOPLE, NIGERIA HAS ZERO JUNK FIGHTER AND SOUTH AFRICA HAS 26 GRIPEN JETS. WHY DO WE CONTINUE TO DISCUSS FORTH GENERATION FIGHTERS WITH THIS MAN CALLED @AGAUGUST, WHO IS FROM A COUNTRY THAT HAS NONE OF SUCH THINGS?

LET US STOP TO ELONGATE THIS DISCUSSION AND END IT RIGHT AWAY. LET US KEEP OUR 26 GRIPENS AND @AGAUGUST KEEP HIS ZERO JUNK FIGHTERS.
LOL...Clown !

NAF has completed tests, analysis, inspection, and evaluation of JF-17 Thunder and after personally evaluation the jet as a currently flying combat pilot, the Chief Of Air staff has selected the aircraft and just some months ago submitted a purchase recommendation for 25 to 40 units of JF-17 Thunder, then is close to signing the contract of sale according to Janes Defence report and Pakistani government confirmation.

Your South African friends here are panicking and decided to pitch the JF-17 against your own Gripen so that they can assess the new air superiority Nigeria will have over them.....preparing for the imminent new enemy......

American F-16 jet pilots die in their crashes.

We are comparing aircraft not pilots....did the jets die....yes the junk Gripens crashed, died and will NEVER fly again grin

Gripen pilots are always ready to push the emergency eject button since they learnt their lesson in 1989 crash.

Every Gripen pilot flies with his finger very near to the eject button.....because they know crash is always very likely grin

So we keep 14 planes in the air with 9 pilots?

Yet, those 9 pilots dont have enough flying time to be "combat qualified"

hahahahahahahahaahahahahah - you killed yourself.

And augbugug, you can keep talking about Grip crashes, I know you think this is some big amazing thing you have uncovered, but its not, only 3% of Gripen in the world have been lost to crashes in over 20 years of operation without a single pilot fatality. That is a fantastic safety record.

The fact that you have abandoned any factual argument, and are now wildly posting about a handfull of accidents it a fairly clear indication that you have been conclusivly defeated in this debate. Post away, my dear slowpoke, post away.

and, FYI, you said we have 14 pilots:
Yes you quoted me right, I said this :

"South Africa has 14 in service but NEVER do combat maneuver, pilots NOT combat qualified, only take off and land for Mandela's funeral"

I said pilots NOT combat qualified.....that wrecks the entire SAAF....you should be ashamed grin

The 14 Gripens crawl on the ground or fly at funerals NO combat maneuver !

Lion Effort 2015 is on-going now, NO SINGLE SAAF pilots allowed to participate.....NONE qualified to do combat !

That's why SAAF is missing at 2015 current Lion Effort exercise o ! grin grin

South Korea commemorates South African airmen - calls them "our hero's"

The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to South Africa, His Excellency Choi Yeon-ho, said that he would like to “express our deepest gratitude to our heroes, the Korean War veterans, for their sacrifice and contribution.”

When war broke out in Korea, the Union Government announced on 4 August 1950 its intention to place an all-volunteer South African Air Force (SAAF) squadron at the disposal of the United Nations.

2 Squadron, whilst equipped with Mustangs, flew 10,373 sorties and out of a total of 95 Mustangs acquired, no fewer than 74 were lost due to enemy action and accidents. Twelve Mustang pilots were killed in action, 30 missing and four wounded. A further 2,032 sorties were flown in Sabres jets, with four Sabres lost out of 22 supplied.

1. Of the 260 Gripens, Sweden that made it for themselves ordered 204 Gripens, it's home to home sales by Government decree.

3. If no bribes were paid to beg South Africa to buy and open up export market, ONLY Sweden would have been flying Gripen in this world.

Pilots or test pilots or air force pilots is NOT the topic, pilots are human beings whose action is not easy to measure by us as we don't fly with them or control their thinking.
