please if you want to register for CGFNS to send your certificate to BON. Do you think it's better to register in Nigeria here before traveling or register after traveling to the US?
Do it before travelling. That way, you can follow up yourself.

Credential Evaluation Service is a service by CGFNS for the purpose of evaluating your transcripts and license to ensure that it meets the requirements of the board of nursing to which you are applying. If you intend to register with the Colorado Board of Nursing, I suggest you go through their website to know what their requirements are.

I am an Avant RN. I can relate to your concerns and know many people that are facing the same challenges that you are going through now.
This is not specific to Nigerians or Avant. There are still a few persons whose petitions were approved. I guess USCIS do what they like.
Like others have told you, do not give up. Keep your dreams alive. I also want to add that you have to be very patient (I know how hard it is). Trust the process and trust Avant. They have your interest at heart and would not want to lose their investments. From what I have heard, they will resume filing from January.
The process may take a little longer but it will surely come through. It took 9 years from when I passed CGFNS to get here.
My favorite quote to all facing this situation is "in this process, patience is a virtue". Relax, my friend . Your time will come.

It's a good thing that you have left the USCIS stage. DS260 becomes available after your agency pays the fee. DS260 is to be filled by you but they may want to cross check it before it is submitted.
Avant usually sends you a demo that serves as a guide while filling yours.

House good morning. My wife has been issued license by Michigan board of nursing. But the company assisting us said because of our new born. It would take another 3-4 months before we hear anything from NVC. the last time we talked to them they said we were at the DS260 form stage. I would like to ask if the DS260 form is filled by us or if it's by attorney. And also how soon do you think we will be invited for interview please @auscris @iyman please help out

Great Nurses, As earlier suggested by @princelynx. The whatsapp group for Nigerian nurses with the dream of working abroad will be created tomorrow. Please quote this message and reply with your number to be added to the group.
@Barbiee, I don't think creating a whatsapp group is good at this point. There are hundreds of people that visit this thread for information. A whatsapp group will deprive them of that info.
Secondly, I don't think that the original intent of the creator of Nairaland is to have people create micro - groups from existing threads.
If there was a whatsapp group before I joined this thread, I probably would not know useful it is because all the relevant information would be shared only on the whatsapp group.
While a whatsapp group may serve the purpose of it's members like getting instant responses to questions, it will deprive others from getting the information they need.
Believe me, I get many requests daily from persons who are keen followers of this thread.
Let's not abandon where I met barbiee, IYIMAN, P406, AjaoSandra and other wonderful people.
Thanks to everyone for keeping this thread alive and keeping it sane (unlike many threads on this forum).

@Auschris,thank you for your responses so far.am also with avant, passed the Nclex exam in may, they filled the I 140 application same month, since then I have not got any response from them, although I was told they did premium processing,I have also sent mails to avant to know my current status but no reply from them.
Please how long does the I 140 application usually take?
What do you advice I do at this time.
Congratulations. Premium processing usually takes about 15 working days and if you have not heard anything so far it could be that you got an RFE (request for further evidence) letter from USCIS. The immigration attorney will take care of it.
Does the name of your immigration specialist begin with 'M'? She's very slow in responding to mails. It may be due to the workload.

Sir, do they pay for the ielts, visascreen, EB3 visas for the family, nclex exams and all the nclex protocols involved, BON registration.etc? I am asking especially for avant and Shearwater.

How much do i need to process other things like cert verification, licence verification and submission of documents?. I.e., a rough estimate of the cost and time.
Avant pays for the NCLEX-RN registration process, EB-3 visas for you and your family (however, you pay the application fee of $345 per member of your family while they pay attorney fees), visascreen (only if you sign a contract during the promo period).
From the Shearwater contract I saw, they pay for everything (I'm not sure if they pay for family). Shearwater just started making inroads into the Nigerian market. I assume they will come with incentives to attract clients. Time will tell how consistent they will be.
I can't give an estimate on how how much it costs for the verification process because it depends on factors like how many schools you attended, the number of licenses you are validating, the nature of your school (some like money pass others and the speed of response varies).
For example, my wife's verification was done in less than 4 months (from the date I applied to CGFNS to the day the CES report was issued) and it did not cost more than 60k to get the whole process done, excluding the the fee for CES. I also know people that have been on the process for over a year and have sent just 1 transcript more than 5 times (may it not be your portion). You cannot quantify the material and emotional cost involved in the latter example.
I hope with this few points of mine, I have not left you more confused. I wish you success in your pursuits.

In the country section, select Nigeria then hit search. A code should appear. Do not input anything again. Go down to the section that deals with the board of nursing you want to register with. That's all for this page.
Meanwhile, when are hoping to test? I suggest you hold off registering with Pearson Vue if you are not ready to take the exam within the next 3 months. Wait for the BON to give you the go-ahead. Once you are done with the BON and pay to Pearson Vue, you will get the ATT within 2 weeks or less. ATT is usually valid for 90 days.
JustHere2Observ:
Please who has registered with Pearson VUE for nclex and how did you get pat the section that asked for nursing program graduated. Please I need answers asap

I don't think credential evaluation would take this long it is either the required forms and transcripta was not sent on time because I mailed Cgfns and they replied that if the necessary documents are received on time it won't take more than 3 months for the evaluation to be complete.I will equally oblige us to try other credentialing agencies because Cgfns is not the only agency that can offer such services
If your intention is to practice in the US by having an employer or recruitment agency sponsor you, you definitely need CGFNS. CGFNS is the only organization that can issue a visascreen certificate.
However, if you want to get the NCLEX-RN exam done quickly you can go with other evaluation agencies. Keep in mind that you will still come back to CGFNS and you will spend more.

I think President Trump has stopped premium processing for now, so I doubt the $400 stuff will still be available... Seems everyone queue now, but it's better for Nigerians, our wait time isn't much.
Premium processing still exists for EB-3 visas and the cost for premium processing is 1225 USD.

AjaoSandra:
Lol even o Grady Peyton requests for 100 beds, all of them sha like 100 bed, like that shows how proficient you are as a nurse, I worked as a student nurse in a teaching hospital for 4 years, n whilst I was at that I vowed never to work as a Nurse when I graduate, my whole mindset about the profession changed when I got employed in a private setting, atleast things were done to some extent the ideal way, no sentiments o, but the truth is that you can ignore your duties as a Nurse in a government hospital, since "Na government work" supervision isn't tat intense, but in a private hospital, you'd work your ass out, that petty cash they pay you, the management would ensure you work for every dime, it's crazy though, but just that 2years experience has given me skills and knowledge my fellow colleagues working in a government setting don't have, plus again it depends on the kind of private hospital, .... It's DIY for me though, I can foot the bill, na the whole 100 beds thing make me no start the whole process since, wey I dey waste time..... But thanks for this forum and thanks for the right information. God help us all.

Send me an email. Make we talk.

I don talk am before. There are other agencies apart from Avant.
TheArchangel:
Thanks sir. I appreciate this your lenghty response. Seems meeting avant's 100 abi 200 bedded hospital criterion is a herculean task as most of our major private hospital employers don't even reach that number.
Travel / Re: Nigerian Nurses And Midwives With The Dream Of Working Abroad Let's Meet Here. by auschris: 12:01pm On May 29, 2017
Not at agency. Agency is an option if you do not have to financial muscle to carry you through. IYIMAN gave a conservative estimate of how much he spent. In reality, it costs more than that. You need to take into consideration the cost of procuring the visa, airfare, hotel accommodation in addition to the estimate he already gave. If you are taking the exam outside the US, you will pay an international scheduling fee of $150.
An agency, like Avant (I don't know how the others operate), takes care of the all the costs apart from the cost of sending documents from naija and visa processing fee for the exam. That's a huge relief for most nurses in naija.
The advantages of DIY are that you will study for nclex at your pace but you must have self motivation to go through that. Agency na fire for fire, which is good for 'lazy' people like me. It also gets you a shorter contract term. For example, with Avant you get a contract for 6240 hours without nclex and 4160 hours with nclex. Avant also pays you a sign on bonus of $2500 if you have nclex. You can get off your 6240 hours contract if you convert to a full time staff of the hospital where you are assigned when you attain 4160 hours.
NB: I don't the know the terms of other agencies.
In conclusion, going with an agency is not slavery in anyway. What is slavery is that you go through the rigours of nursing education in your country and after working for 5 years in Federal establishment (the biggest employer of labor)and your monthly pay is not more than ₦150,000 and sometimes you only get what is rightfully yours by embarking on strike or with 'abeg'. If you are not fortunate, you end up in a private hospital with less than 50k a month plus insults.
I don talk finish
TheArchangel:
well, seems agency may look like some modern day slavery to some people especially peeps who can afford to DIY. Considering the contract signing and all....

I had posted a link earlier on this forum about 2 pages back. It's on all US BON and their individual requirements most states don't accept any other evaluating body other than. Cgfns and besides they have a more acceptable reputation even though presently they havent been acting up-to expectation. If Nevada accepts
Ierf ,good if not...... I would say stick with CGFNS, the devil you know.
It would be better for you because it would be easier to proceed with visa screen since they have most of ur documents (licence and transcripts) instead of having to resend them again after having done CES with another body.

You too much. You don talk am finish. Thanks for your time

I second this. I couldn't have explained it better.
P406:
Well, I don't know what you mean by NLC.
I just printed the forms off the internet, filled them as required. But I ticked the area that said "for candidates who reside outside Texas " as an international candidate.What I know is that;
You do not qualify to apply online which maybe what you are trying to do as you are an IEN(internationally educated nurse). You only qualify to send in a paper application. So print out the application forms on TBON and get to it.
*Endorsement means moving/transferring your licence to another state after you have been licenced by a state. This means you don't need to take nclex anymore just fulfil the requirements of the intending state and qualify for a license.
Payment.... Yes, it requires money order or check drawn on a US bank. I was in the US when I processed mine so it wasn't much of a problem.just bought the money order from Walmart. You can forward your application to someone in the US, have them buy a money order of the stated amount and send along with the package (application) in the same envelope.
You can pm me so I frwd TBON application instructions to you.
