I don't think credential evaluation would take this long it is either the required forms and transcripta was not sent on time because I mailed Cgfns and they replied that if the necessary documents are received on time it won't take more than 3 months for the evaluation to be complete.I will equally oblige us to try other credentialing agencies because Cgfns is not the only agency that can offer such services
If your intention is to practice in the US by having an employer or recruitment agency sponsor you, you definitely need CGFNS. CGFNS is the only organization that can issue a visascreen certificate.
However, if you want to get the NCLEX-RN exam done quickly you can go with other evaluation agencies. Keep in mind that you will still come back to CGFNS and you will spend more.

Yes. It took about 2 weeks

Good Evening everyone, please am new to this forum, and would like to know if any body has used EMS (Nipost) courier service to send any transcript to CGFNS and if yes how long does it take to get to CGFNS.

I think President Trump has stopped premium processing for now, so I doubt the $400 stuff will still be available... Seems everyone queue now, but it's better for Nigerians, our wait time isn't much.
Premium processing still exists for EB-3 visas and the cost for premium processing is 1225 USD.

Lol even o Grady Peyton requests for 100 beds, all of them sha like 100 bed, like that shows how proficient you are as a nurse, I worked as a student nurse in a teaching hospital for 4 years, n whilst I was at that I vowed never to work as a Nurse when I graduate, my whole mindset about the profession changed when I got employed in a private setting, atleast things were done to some extent the ideal way, no sentiments o, but the truth is that you can ignore your duties as a Nurse in a government hospital, since "Na government work" supervision isn't tat intense, but in a private hospital, you'd work your ass out, that petty cash they pay you, the management would ensure you work for every dime, it's crazy though, but just that 2years experience has given me skills and knowledge my fellow colleagues working in a government setting don't have, plus again it depends on the kind of private hospital, .... It's DIY for me though, I can foot the bill, na the whole 100 beds thing make me no start the whole process since, wey I dey waste time..... But thanks for this forum and thanks for the right information. God help us all.
Send me an email. Make we talk.
TravelRe: Nigerian Nurses And Midwives With The Dream Of Working Abroad Let's Meet Here. by auschris: 12:39pm On May 29, 2017
I don talk am before. There are other agencies apart from Avant.
TheArchangel:
Thanks sir. I appreciate this your lenghty response. Seems meeting avant's 100 abi 200 bedded hospital criterion is a herculean task as most of our major private hospital employers don't even reach that number.
TravelRe: Nigerian Nurses And Midwives With The Dream Of Working Abroad Let's Meet Here. by auschris: 12:01pm On May 29, 2017
Not at agency. Agency is an option if you do not have to financial muscle to carry you through. IYIMAN gave a conservative estimate of how much he spent. In reality, it costs more than that. You need to take into consideration the cost of procuring the visa, airfare, hotel accommodation in addition to the estimate he already gave. If you are taking the exam outside the US, you will pay an international scheduling fee of $150.
An agency, like Avant (I don't know how the others operate), takes care of the all the costs apart from the cost of sending documents from naija and visa processing fee for the exam. That's a huge relief for most nurses in naija.
The advantages of DIY are that you will study for nclex at your pace but you must have self motivation to go through that. Agency na fire for fire, which is good for 'lazy' people like me. It also gets you a shorter contract term. For example, with Avant you get a contract for 6240 hours without nclex and 4160 hours with nclex. Avant also pays you a sign on bonus of $2500 if you have nclex. You can get off your 6240 hours contract if you convert to a full time staff of the hospital where you are assigned when you attain 4160 hours.
NB: I don't the know the terms of other agencies.
In conclusion, going with an agency is not slavery in anyway. What is slavery is that you go through the rigours of nursing education in your country and after working for 5 years in Federal establishment (the biggest employer of labor)and your monthly pay is not more than ₦150,000 and sometimes you only get what is rightfully yours by embarking on strike or with 'abeg'. If you are not fortunate, you end up in a private hospital with less than 50k a month plus insults.
I don talk finish
TheArchangel:
well, seems agency may look like some modern day slavery to some people especially peeps who can afford to DIY. Considering the contract signing and all....

I had posted a link earlier on this forum about 2 pages back. It's on all US BON and their individual requirements most states don't accept any other evaluating body other than. Cgfns and besides they have a more acceptable reputation even though presently they havent been acting up-to expectation. If Nevada accepts
Ierf ,good if not...... I would say stick with CGFNS, the devil you know.
It would be better for you because it would be easier to proceed with visa screen since they have most of ur documents (licence and transcripts) instead of having to resend them again after having done CES with another body.
You too much. You don talk am finish. Thanks for your time

The latest edition of Saunders with uworld will make a great sense too.
Add Lacharity to it. Read Saunders and Lacharity before using uworld. if you are doing a self study, I suggest you do uworld for at least 2 months.

I second this. I couldn't have explained it better.
P406:
Well, I don't know what you mean by NLC.
I just printed the forms off the internet, filled them as required. But I ticked the area that said "for candidates who reside outside Texas " as an international candidate.What I know is that;
You do not qualify to apply online which maybe what you are trying to do as you are an IEN(internationally educated nurse). You only qualify to send in a paper application. So print out the application forms on TBON and get to it.
*Endorsement means moving/transferring your licence to another state after you have been licenced by a state. This means you don't need to take nclex anymore just fulfil the requirements of the intending state and qualify for a license.
Payment.... Yes, it requires money order or check drawn on a US bank. I was in the US when I processed mine so it wasn't much of a problem.just bought the money order from Walmart. You can forward your application to someone in the US, have them buy a money order of the stated amount and send along with the package (application) in the same envelope.
You can pm me so I frwd TBON application instructions to you.

Hi all. My wife just had her nclex exam in India. The computer closed at 86 questions after 2+ hours. She said it was a bit tough. Please wish us best.
It is well with her. NCLEX-RN is tough but people pass it. There were about 16 avant candidates that took the exam today in New Delhi. I have already done the Pearson Vue trick for one of them and she was successful.
TravelRe: Nigerian Nurses And Midwives With The Dream Of Working Abroad Let's Meet Here. by auschris: 4:30pm On May 21, 2017
If the US is your most preferred destination, by all means, go for it. A lot can change with you having NCLEX-RN.
You might be attractive to other recruiters. No be only avant dey market.
AjaoSandra:
I actually want to apply for the CES, prep for the exam, write the NCLEX n all solely, but I am faced constantly with the fear of not having that 2yrs experience in a 100 bedded tertiary level hospital, might turn out to be a problem on the long run, Need your advice on this really considering the level of your accomplishment so far.
TravelRe: Nigerian Nurses And Midwives With The Dream Of Working Abroad Let's Meet Here. by auschris: 10:53am On May 21, 2017
On this journey, patience is a virtue. if you are impatient, the waka go tey because you will be taking some wrong steps.
To be clear, it took 8 months from the time I applied to Avant to when I got my visa. I passed CGFNS in 2007 and got my initial visascreen certificate in 2008. Then came visa retrogression. I renewed my visascreen certificate in 2015 after it expired in 2013.
If you add these up, you will find that it is definitely more than 8 months. The good news is that it's much shorter now. I estimate 18 months to 2 years.
You can complete CGFNS evaluation in less than 4 months, depending on how you coordinate with the relevant bodies in Nigeria like your school of nursing and nursing council.
AjaoSandra:
....The USA is cool likewise, but I do not have my 2+ years experience in a 100+ bedded hospital so I felt may be if I apply for my CES, write my Nclex and pass solely just may be Avant would consider me ,and help with getting an employment offer, but then again auschris said it took him like 8months to have that done, n errr... Cgfns evaluation taking about 1yrhuh I really don't plan spending that long in Naija, I don tire for here Walai grin....

Or do you mean I can register with TBON and take the exam anywhere in the US?

She will take Nclex in a few days in India. But she has CGFNS and Visa screen. So please can you advise the timeline between the ETA form 9098 that she signed being approved and I-140 petition
I wish her success in her exam. What agency is she with?
I don't know the exact timeline. I believe it is at the discretion of the sponsor. With Avant, it should not be more than 2 weeks. In my case, my ETA form got back to them on 10/8/15 and the filed the I-140 2 days later. I don't know what the current practice is

The next step is for them to file her I-140 petition with USCIS. Filing the petition signifies the official commencement of the immigration process. By the way, has your wife passed NCLEX-RN or CGFNS?

I will be doing to new York soon. So am thinking of getting a place close by to write it rather than traveling that far to Texas.
You can take the exam anywhere in the US and about 8 other locations outside the US. My initial registration is with the state of Connecticut but I sat for the exam in Florida. I've never been to Connecticut. I currently practice in Maine

Apple19:
Pls help a sister. Did you write NCLEX there, and did you applied from here or you did when you get to America?? And what are the major requirements for registration?

I have a valid B1B2 Visa which will enable me travel to write the exam. and am considering changing from BON Texas to Massachusetts... Pls what will your advice be? Am in urgent need of help cos CGFNs asked me to resend my form so I want to change the address where they'll send the findings to. Kindly help me out Biko.
