Just wondering.
If returns for 4/29 is 5.11% and previous YTD is 87.61%, why is the current YTD 97.19%?

if you don't mind sharing, I have a few questions about.
1. how long have you been on equity funds?
2. what funds are you invested in?
3. what is the size of your portfolio (amount invested)?

It has reflected. i have way of tracking actual returns of each top up

Yes by tonight, the amount showing under mutual fund will change to reflect the gain or loss today and added to your total balance .

Determining actual gain on top up day can be confusing except you note old balance, new top up balance which is in transit now and new total balance which will be added tonight.

Essentially, you want to biforcate gain on old balance + gain on new top up.

You should see if your top up has reflected

GT has not done well lately. I don't see daily logs but i'm able to view statements for each day or period I want. I have an excel tracker for daily balances.

I tried to top op on CS but the money is sitting in the cash balance instead of the equity fund. Is there anything I need to do?

CS must do 2-3% tonight. If I see red, I will reach out to them personally.

With ASI of 2.3% yesterday, GT equity still found a way to lose by 1.01%.

i don't know about the ethical fund. they have updated for the aggresive growth and halal balanced funds. Aggresive growth did 1.97% and halal did 2.21%

They have a whole 7-8 hours before midnight for the update to reflect.

Another concern is this idea of next business day top up reflection- it can be really confusing

Ideally, date of subscription should be what you get value for, but atimes value looks like it starts the day it reflects on your account

They are not really all the same. Some have higher returns than others(you can't compare 80% ytd with 50% ytd) while some have a very streamlined process for redemption.

I think they are all the same. The ones doing well now will soon show their colour.

GT equity lost 2.99% and balanced fund lost 0.66%.
I'm glad I have started reducing my position last week. I'll cut some after today's gain reflect.

It is going to be a mixed market today depending on the equity funds you are investing in. ASI is up 1.51% but the banking stocks are "yakubuing". Consumer and industrial goods are doing well. Aradel is doing the Lord's work

Days like yesterday make one value the ethical and sharia-friendly funds. ARM Halal Balanced fund returned +0.51% yesterday

I did a direct calculation with the closing balances on my portfolio for Apr 28 and Apr 24 and i came up with a loss of 0.053%

I get what you are saying but this will hold true if all investments reset at the end of each year. I believe the reported YTDs are for reference purposes and can help the prospective investor in choosing a direction. For the investors, what matters is "how much has my money grown by?"

I don't recommend waiting, I bought equity few days ago. I am only responding to his comment "Best time to buy", which still remains January. Most of the equity fund have already done 50%, bear can come at anytime & these guys will struggle to maintain that range. Investing in January makes the best out of your funds when it comes to equity.

The year is barely 1/3 gone. Waiting until January is like betting that the rest of the year is going to be bearish.
With individual stocks, one may opt to time their entry based on careful research but with funds, they can take position at anytime in order to take advantage of overall positive performance of the current market.
