rubbish,,,,each agency has its specialised field and duties,,,_understanding their roles and job function helps in increased productivity,,,what this country needs is to equip our security agencies wit today's technology and training so that we can match our counterparts 4rm other countries .and not to assign jobs meant for a specialised department to another with the thinking that they'll do better,,,(no matter how you teach a chicken to fly,It will never, coz it was never created for that purpose),,

CrimeRe: Man Says Thief Burnt In Lagos "Deserves To Die" by austinfan4love(m): 3:57pm On Nov 17, 2016
londonrivals:
A social media user has narrated he and his family’s experience with the Alafia Bus stop thieves.

Recall that a photo went viral yesterday of a thief who was mobbed and subsequently burnt by angry Lagosians, the social media user, Harrison who is a presenter narrated the incident which he reported happened not far from his house.

Read his tweets below:

1. Let me share my own side of this lynching story. From where the alleged thief was burnt, to my house is a trekable.

2. It is a notorious bus-stop for phone thieves i.e Alafia, the bus-stop before Orile, if you’re coming from Mile 2.

3. I lost my blood brother to these thieves in January of this year. He was 20, & was coming back from dance rehearsal.

4. He was holding his friend’s Samsung Tab when the thieves approached him & without warning, stabbed him in the neck.

5. His friends didn’t know what happened cus he was at the back. After he was stabbed, he ran towards his friends…

6. And cried for them to help him, that he had been stabbed. Immediately after making that statement, he collapsed.

7. My bro. is huge in size, so it was difficult for his friends to lift him. Even when they did, nobody stopped for …

8. them or offered to take him to a hospital. A good Samaritan bikeman helped and took him to a near by quack hospital.

9. The hospital rejected him. It was a lost cause. So his friends abandoned his lifeless body on the road opposite the

10. hospital. One of them ran 2 my house to call me. I had just come back from d gym, i had only gym pants on, no shirt

11. I did an intense squat programme that day. Mind you, i never do squats in the gym. I flung my phone and ran out as

12. fast as my tired legs could carry me, half naked. I didn’t even know my mum was following me. I got to the hospital

13. and saw my brother’s lifeless body on the floor with dozens of people staring at him like he just landed on earth.

14. I fainted, but some folks revived me and put me on a bike with my bro’s body. They put my mum on another bike.

15. Some of our neigbours who had heard my mum screaming also followed us. It was difficult for the bike to balance cus

16. of my bro’s weight. So our neighbours carried him on their hands to another hospital, which also rejected him on

17. the spot. I heard a medical worker say, eleyi ti ku na, which translates to this one is dead na. I begged for them

18. to check him at least. They refused and told us to go the General hospital. We took off again inside a keke…

19. I was half-naked at the busstop begging bike men, keke & anything on wheels to help lift my brother. None answered

12. Long story cut short, my family is still recovering from the trauma of that night. Sometimes, my mum waits for us

13. to go to bed, before draining herself in her tears. It has been months, but go and see my mum now. She looks frail

14. and has been aging rapidly, thanks to over thinking. When i don’t pick my call, she goes into panic mode. She might

15. never recover. I sent messages to @YomiShogunle and @rrslagos767 and also to @aleeygiwa. @aleeygiwa called back &

16. we spoke for minutes. I complained about that busstop and that we reported to the near by Police station, but they

17. refused to do anything. @aleeygiwa promised to visit and check out the notorious spot himself. I’ve been waiting

18. since January. Now, read carefully. After the murder of my brother, i have heard that close to a dozen people have

19. lost their lives to the same phone thieves at Alafia busstop. I happen to know one. A young and newly married man

12. who had a shop close 2 my street. I have also met people who have escaped these murderers by a whisker. The thieves

21. in Alafia busstop don’t ask for your phone. They stab you and then take it from you. On Saturday, i was preparing

22. to head out for a soccer match when a friend called. He sounded excited, like he just won a lottery. ”Obi, he said

23. i just witnessed the lynching of a thief in the same busstop your brother was murdered.” My mum was close by. so

24. i told her what my pal just told me. This was what she said ” The spirit of Obinna(my brother) will not rest until

25. his killers are dead. I didn’t heed 2 calls to go to a shrine. I know my son can fight for himself, dead or alive”

26. See, it is easy to speak up against lynching when you’ve never been a victim of these fuckers. You don’t have

27. nightmares like my entire family does. You can speak up because you have never ever seen your dad cry like a baby

28. over the death of his son, or your mum continuously deteriorating as a result of over thinking. Praying day & night

29. that she doesn’t loose another child 2 these murderers. I was defending d thief, thinking it was truly a 7 year old

30. It just connected, when i saw the tweets from @YomiShogunle confirming it was the same thief that my friend called

31. about. If i was there, i would have personally bought d fuel used in burning him. The thieves had no plans to stop

32. Hopefully, when the community starts to take matters into their hands and show these retards that we mean business,

33. they might stop making families miserable. And oh, these guys once threw a man off that Alafia bridge for refusing

34. to hand over his phone. I am against lynching by the way. But this particular issue is very personal to me. Thanks

omonnakoda:
This has not been thought through fully .How will it be funded. Some states consume more police resources(and prison resources) than others at the expense of the FG ( Lagos particularly). Under the proposed arrangement will there be reallocation of resources from the centre and by what formula. If Lagos has to pay for its own policing I foresee a lot of hostility to non-indigenes and likely all police will be Yoruba, this will replicate across the country
There are other issues that need clarification will police be enforcing Sharia law e.g? Most likely they will. Apart from abuse by incumbent governors there are other potential risks which should not be a problem in a normal country but Nigeria is not a normal country
In summary good idea but implementation will be very tricky
my broda God bless u richly,,,u re indeed a true and sensible nigerian,,,,if we have more of ppl like u infact dis country is bless,,,,wht most ppl dn't knw is that the negative effect of creating state police outweighs the advantages,,,a few is wht u jst highlighted,,,others are still pending,,,a state like Nigeria with different ethnic tribe and religion should not even dear state police because this will become a tool in the hand of top people in the state,,and it will create hostility amongs non indigines and a whole lot more,,,my advice is before we take this step,,,lets think this through,,,

Epilogue

The ending of a matter is better than the beginning of it.

Ifeoma & Ebere

The past few months were trying for us, Ify was put on bed rest. She became totally dependent , she had a house nurse caring for her, her dad was there for her, she also had my support and ofcourse her husband' s love. Liz and Ify hit it off immediately, she was all my daughter talked about. She was her heroin. She wanted to be as brave as she was, why? Ify doesn't moan about the thousands of drugs she had to take and Ify was so beautiful and she was smart too. No wonder she was Liz' s heroine.

Our only fear was she shouldn't have eclampsia (seizures) which was common in the case of preeclampsia. She was confined to bed, she had to be carried to the bathroom, she and her husband had to move into their guest room downstairs because it wasn't easy carrying her up and down the stairs. Ayo introduced us to an Indian AIDS specialist, although his fees were high it was worth it.

Ify' s mother dropped by occasionally but she wasn't exactly too warm but who cares anyway? Its her loss. She had given us the news of Jeff' s death, he didn't make it back home from the hospital. Some days we were so frightened something would go wrong but Ify pulled through till the seventh month, since preeclampsia (hypertension before or during pregnancy) has no proven cure, the baby was delivered on the seventh month through a C_section and he was put in an incubator.

Ayo and i were officially engaged when the baby was born. We had both decided not to tell Liz i was her mother until she was old enough to understand why i had given her away in the first place. Since Mildred wasn't around to influence both Constance and Liz negatively they were both easy to manage and ofcourse no child of mine would be sporting a red or blue hair.

Ify ' s house was lit up, our loved ones and friends were in attendance. Jamie was coming home today. He was such a beautiful boy and he was healthy, he was crying for his bottle every now and then. Doctor Debola and i were his legal guardian and god parents. He was named James after his paternal grandfather and his middle name was Osinachi for his maternal grandfather. What a lucky boy!

Constance and Liz were running about chasing one of the balloons that had loosened from the bunch used in decorating the living room. Those two are so full of energy. Ify' s mom had done a good job of decorating the living room. My eyes dropped to the diamond stone on my left finger. My tall, dark and handsome had dropped us off earlier that morning at Ify' s house before heading to his office. The door opened and in came our much awaited prince. A round of applause resounded in the room as the doting parents, godfather and grandfather came in. Ify was all smiles. She caught my eyes and mouted." We shamed the devil".

I couldn't help laughing. I gently collected Jamie from her, my God, you won't believe he was a premie ( premature baby).

" Wow he's so cute ". I always thought he was whenever i saw him.

Emeka grinned at me." He should be, his dad is cute"

" And his mom too" Ify quipped which drew laughter from those in attendance.

The pastor which doctor invited took Jamie from me. Ify drew me aside.

" Ebere i want to thank you for being my friend and never giving up on me."

I drew her into my arms." You know mama loves you, what are we sisters for?"

" Thank you Mama. Emeka and i want you to have this." She pulled out an envelope from her purse.

I eyed the envelope suspiciously. " What's this for?"

" Open it first nau"

I opened it and gasped. A to and fro ticket to Bahamas for two.

" Your wedding gift. We will gladly look after the girls until you get back from your honey moon"

'' Oh Ify! you shouldn't have!"

" It's the least we could do to appreciate you."

The pastor asked for the baby' s mother to come and we went back into the living room. My eyes caught the photo of a woman on the front page of Vangauard newspaper which was placed on the sofa. I picked it up, my heart jumping with joy. I still couldn't believe it even though i was in the court room when she was sentenced to fifteen years of hard labour for human trafficking and other crimes she had perpetrated. It wasn't an easy time for me, i was put on the stand to recount my horrible ordeals and some of the young girls she had tried smuggling out of the country were also called to the witness box.

The door opened and my sunshine came in. His eyes glowed when it settled on mine, he flashed me a smile and i found myself enveloped into his arms.

" Am i too late love?"

" No baby. You are just in time."

The pastor was praying for little Jamie. We all bowed our heads. Ayo ' s fingers slowly seeked mine. I could see the love and happiness on Ify and Emeka' s face. Whenever i drive through Allen Avenue i will always remember the lonely and cold nights. A smile sometimes could brighten a person' s day and a kind word now and then would mean a lot. If you ever find yourself at Allen Avenue at night please don't judge the girls in your heart or accuse them with your eyes. They all have a story to tell.

The END God bless you bibijay,,,you rily killed dis 1,,,truly evrybody has a story to tell,,,will be waiting to see this piece in print,,,once again thumbs up for our next chimamanda,,,only dis time she is called bibijay,,

* Continues*

A year later

A round of applause resonated in the beautifully decorated and lit hall as i was called by the MC to the poidum. My eyes scanned round the hall and settled on the front row.The front row was occupied by those dear to my heart, the first lady, Pam, now six months pregnant was glowing beautifully and full of smiles, seated beside her was his excellency the president of our great nation. Next was Chantelle, my beautiful daughter who had flown in from France where she had gone to continue her studies. Next was Ama, the vice president of my life changing foundation and Bibi the founder of ' How it all began'.

The only people absent were Mami and Npa(father) who insisted they were too old to be moved about. I have come a long way, from a hungry and desperate boy to an inmate and now an author of the best selling book ' The Devil has the money', also the founder of life Changing foundation and a motivational speaker.

The crowd continued clapping, so many of them held my book in their hands. The book with the help of the intelligent founder of ' how it all began' was a huge success. It became one of the best selling author biography to sell millions of copies in a week! Our gathering today is to premier another life changing book written by me.

My heart swelled with happiness, there is truly fullness of joy in the presence of the lord. When you are for God, nothing and no one can battle with you and win. If not for God' s mercy where would i have been? i remembered the herbalist i had gone to see when i was only fifteen. His words to me " You have been called unto a greater path, your purpose in life is not this way". It might take long but it will be worth it in the end. There is truly no gain or fulfilment in quick riches. How i wish my beautiful Nma and Efo Albert were here to witness this day. I know they were both happy for me and it was truly time to let go of the past.

" Good evening ladies and gentleman, please stand up for the national anthem" i said into the mike.

THE END
