KDULAR: Thank you OP informative and educating. For the guy that questioned distance let him try this, make a 20cm by 20cm square with a thread, then make different convoluted shapes within the same square with another thread. When he's done , he should remove the 2 threads and measure their distances. He'll discover that the thread that was used to make convolutions within the known border( square) is longer. MeaningNigeria may be about 1200km from Lagos to the end somewhere in Gasua or Portiskum but the road network is Nigeria is well over 140000 yes 140,000Km. The Benin moat may really be that long. Believe in yourself "Blackman know yourself, don't forget your past" Femi Kuti."road network" and "perimeter wall" are 2 different things, get it. Network has several roads in it, hence the term network. Here, we're talking of a single stretch of wall |
2. The Walls of Benin (800-1400AD), in present day Edo State, are the longest ancient earthworks in the world, and probably the largest man-made structure on earth. They enclose 6500 square kilometers of community lands that connected about 500 communities. At over 16000km long, it was thought to be twice the length of the Great Wall of China, until it was announced in 2012 (after five years of meticulous measurement by Chinese surveyors) that the Great Wall is about 21,000km long. Wrong info! A wall that encloses 6500sqkm land cannot be 16000km long. Do ur calculations well. For example, if the area were to be a rectangle, the side could be 65km by 100km (FOR EXAMPLE), which translates to 330km by perimeter. Moreover, distance from Benin to Lagos is about 500km, so how could a wall encircling some communities then be 16000km long... |

As Nigeria claimed their third Africa Cup of Nations title, it seems only fitting that this week's World Player of the Week should be a star of the country's own Premier League: Warri Wolves' Sunday Mba. After scoring the winning goal against pre-tournament favourites Cote d'Ivoire last week, the 24-year-old continued his form as the Super Eagles soared to glory in South Africa. After a superb peformance in the semi-final demolition of Mali, Mba stepped up with the all-important strike in Sunday's showpiece final, lifting the ball over the Burkina Faso defence before volleying superbly into the bottom corner. The goal earned Nigeria an impressive triumph at the 2013 tournament, as well as a place in the Confederations Cup later this year- an achievement made all the more remarkable when you consider that Mba, along with five other players, still ply their trade in the local league. Lolade Adewuyi, chief editor of Goal.com Nigeria , had this to say on a memorable week for the player: "Sunday Mba has become famous for scoring key goals on Sundays. The 24-year-old Warri Wolves star scored the winning goal for Nigeria in their 2013 Africa Cup of Nations final triumph over Burkina Faso on Sunday; earlier, he scored the winning goal in the Super Eagles' 2-1 defeat of pre-tournament favourites Cote D'Ivoire. "Not known much before this tournament, Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi's decision to include six players from the local league in hisAfcon team has thrown up a new class of starplayers, and Mba surely tops their ranks. "The Afcon trophy is just reward for a player who has worked really hard to be where he is at the moment. Mba's career is expected to soar with the confidence earned from this conquest." |
