AgricultureRe: Long Awaited Egusi {Melon} Storage Business Season Is On Now by authority2006(m): 9:01pm On Sep 21, 2014
crispgg: Well, I read all the posts in this thread from the top.

This business is as old as I can remember. Even my parents did the beans thing briefly when I was a kid but stopped cos it wasn't as profitable as they thought.

The truth is that this is a business opportunity just like any other. There are inherent risks associated with any venture. Some will hit it big, some will lose everything. For those who will succeed, it will require tenacity and determination.

Even for those of us with supposedly paid and secure jobs, we face the risk of being told to go at short notice. I know quite well as I was a victim of this in the banking industry.

I commend the OP cos he has presented another business opportunity for the multitude who need what to do. And he is giving this information out for free on this forum. This is what some people who have no real experience of the business sell books and seminars on.

Instead of sitting down in your chair and criticising, let those who want to do this get out there and get started!
Well, it goes beyond sitting down in our chairs and criticising @op. He deliberately left out the risk aspects of the business for the reasons best known to him which was very bad. Agricultural produce storage in Nigeria is highly unpredictable but did he tell them all this? No. The question is why? I'm saying this as an authority in this business. Additional risk to this particular melon things here is storing your goods in crisis prone area.

I have been reading through the comments here to see something like this, thank you. It was TB who deserves donations not the other way round. That showed that he was trying to hide something.

BusinessRe: Non-Ghanaian Retailers Ordered To Leave Ghana Markets In 30 Days by authority2006(m): 2:35pm On Sep 20, 2014
shymexx: I honestly don't think there's anything wrong with this apart from the medieval way in which they went about it. Perhaps, if they had increased levies against foreigners to an amount most of them won't be able to afford - then it would have looked more justified.

I believe it has more to do with foreigners dominating their markets, and any country would've done the same thing - either covertly or overtly. National interest within your country is your responsibility. America is the leader of the globalisation and WTO, but there are things you can't send from Europe to America, because yanks are trying to protect the American farmers. I think there's a ban on British pork and other farm produce in America, and after the Russian ban on agricultural products, some EU countries tried to send them to America, and the yanks rejected everything. Even in the UK, there are a lot of things you can't bring into the country.

Now imagine a region where folks move freely with porous borders - and most foreigners probably flood the Ghanaian market with goods from their respective countries, thus dominating the indigenous folks. Coupled with the fact that the Ghanaian economy is dead and almost buried. So, it seems like something logical to do albeit they might be going about it the wrong way.
Actually, that's what they did. But let's see who will be hit hardest by time Nigeria government retaliate. Ghana Must Go season 2.

OXYGENO1: What's xenophobic about this? Every country has its rules and regulations so why will you people choose to do what u think pleases you in a foreign country? Comply with the rules and regulations and that has become a problem. You think Ghana is as useless as nigeria.Mumu.
You are seriously uninformed. Have you ever read that rules and regulations? I doubt it. It is a discriminatory rules and regulations which only few traders can comply with. Asking retailers to pay $300,000 for registration is not a welcome idea. So, stop exposing your ignorance.
AgricultureRe: Long Awaited Egusi {Melon} Storage Business Season Is On Now by authority2006(m):
Agricultural produce storage business is not always as rosy as this guy is making you guys to believe. By the time you want to sell, there may be a glut in the market despite the fact that it is not harvesting period. Produce storage business is like a stock market, no guarantee of making profit. I was into this business in the past (up to early this year) so I'm speaking from the experience. The day this guy made the first post, I read it and I really liked his spirit. But along the line, his posts moved from advice and information to what I called Persuasion. Now, the guy is talking about his firm/boss, can we ask this guy the real role his firm (I mean the people he works for) are playing in all this? Are they also buying on their own which they store and resell and make their own profit or are they luring you guys into the business and make their profits through you guys? If later is the case, it means you guys will never be told the truth because they will make their own profits whether you guys make profit or not (they make their own profits either way). Again, storing your bought produce in a highly volatile environment is not advisable be it Fulani, Tiv, or Eggon community as all of them have capacity of spring surprise attacks on one another. He even said that because he is an Eggon boy/man, nobody can attack him. While I don't pray for you to be attacked, but lone Eggon man is as vulnerable as as lone Yoruba, Hausa or Ijaw man. Again, what I've also learnt is that we should be wary of business partners who talk arrogantly to us on phone because they always try to portray themselves as well-to-do and create a sense of "always in a hurry" and "ever busy" personalities. This is to prevent you from interacting with them and find out the area that is not clear to you through necessary questions. You guys should be very careful because:
1. Trusting your hard earned money with someone you have never meet in person has its own risk. 2. Not all the time that you store agricultural produce you make profit (and @op has deceived you in this aspect). 3. All those Areas are not safe for keeping your goods including Eggon area. He never mentioned one market that could be attacked before. After confirming the attacked market, he said so so and so markets are safe, really? If Group A attacked market B, what stops Group B from retaliating? All these communities have suffered frequent attacks and are still suffering from it.
Good luck to you all.

If you are happy to be deceived by the FG's lies and cover up of the real situation, that's your cup of tea. This same Nigerian Army destroyed BRT buses in broad day light in Lagos state, yet they lied to the world that it was hooligans in soldiers uniforms. This same Nigeria Army said Bama was not under the control of Boko Haram, then all of a sudden, bombs were just being dropped by them in the same Bama that was in their control. See your life. Everyone would love to see the issue of Boko Haram resolved once and for all but definitely, it won't be by living in denial.

OP, you need to wake up and stop deceiving yourself. The issue of Boko Haram in this country has gone beyond living denial. Living in denial won't help us, in fact, it was living in denial that had made the issue of Boko Haram to get out of hands. You are accusing the media for using the words "take over" recently? Were they not the ones using the word "attacks" in the past? Attacks is attacks, take over is take over. Just tell your government to wake up to her responsibility of securing lives and properties of the Nigeria citizens. Propaganda and name callings can't solve the problem.

PoliticsRe: After Intensive Aerial Bombardment, Boko Haram Retreats From Bama by authority2006(m): 8:06am On Sep 07, 2014
If you ask me, I will tell you it is propaganda. There was no time this same army confirmed media reports on capturing of Bama town, and all of a sudden, (Alpha Jets, we have F7, Beechcraft, Mi35, which is the gunships, and then all our transport planes: C-130, the G TripleT.) are in action try to push Boko Haram out of Bama, they are not even trying to make sure none of them escape but to push them out so that they can regroup and come back later to cause more destruction and pain. Where was this same military when Bama was being overrun, I guess they were waiting for their CinC to give order. The same Boko Haram that were supposed to have been bombed to hell in Sambisa forest even before they could have opportunity to kidnap Chibok girls. But you still remember what the president Jona told us on TV during his last media chat when he was asked why military didn't attack Boko Haram in Sambisa forestI (before kidnap)? He said military didn't attack them so that they wouldn't leave forest to come to towns and villages. What a shallow thinking and response! Now, military didn't attack Sambisa but the same Boko Haram are are leaving forest for towns and villages, not only to raid but also to live and be in control. What a shame of the nation!

Did you read this part?
One officer said, “The problem we are also having now is that the military retired the very ambitious and brave people from the service for the fear of coup without knowing that this kind of thing will arise. Some of these military officers, very courageous ones, should have still been in the system and by now they could have given the guidelines on how we can go about this.“They could have acquired enoughskills on how to manoeuvre to dealwith these guys. If we succeeded outside the shores of this country,in Liberia, Sierra Leone and other places, how much more back home here. The fact is that this is not like a conventional war.”
That's the price of forcing experienced officers to retire in droves. Always fearing coup but forgetting unexpected wars and serious internal crisis like this.

mikeansy: Sherriff as Governor of Bornu had a Boko Haram chief in his Government and there are claims he even paid monthly allocations to them until their relationship went sour. The Boko chief in his government died is suspicious circumstances and this perhap explains why Boko haram is on record to have demanded sherriffs head as a peace deal prerequisite.

Sherriff is Boko haram enemy at this moment but he was in the loop and knows one or two things about the organisstion.

It is correct to invite him for questioning to see if there is anything to learn from him.

I am also sure intelligence organisations are always in touch with Ihejirika for brainstorming and if they don't feel they don't need to invite him publicly for questioning there is nothing wrong with that! I am sure someone would have spoken to Ihejirika on the phone!

Nigeria is fighting Muslim extremism and jihad! I think the SSS or any security agency for that matter will be turned into a big joke if they believe a former christain COAS from the South East is sponsoring Jihad!

If there is undenyable evidence Ihejirika will be arrested! But you can't arrest the former head of the army because terrorist said so! We are trying to be a serious country here not some joke of an animal farm!
And you have to understand that these extremists are destroying the north not south south. If allegation against Ihijerika is real, his motivation for doing it could have been anything, doesn't matter if he is a Christian or southerner.
