Foreign AffairsBush Regrets War In Iraq Intelligence by auwal87(op): 10:55am On Dec 07, 2008
George Bush, the US president, has said that he came to office "unprepared for war" and that his "biggest regret" is his country's "intelligence failure" on Iraq.

In an interview with ABC television's "World News Tonight", Bush also said he was "sorry" that the global economic meltdown was taking place and predicted that he would leave office on January 20 with his "head held high".

Bush has had record-low approval ratings after the botched government response to Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and in the wake of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as the world financial crisis.

"The biggest regret of all the presidency has to have been the intelligence failure in Iraq," Bush said 50 days before president-elect Barack Obama's inauguration.

"I wish the intelligence had been different."

But Bush refused to say whether he would have ordered the March 2003 invasion if he had known Iraqi's former leader, Saddam Hussein, did not have weapons of mass destruction, calling it "an interesting question".

Indeed, Nairaland has been successful in Nigeria, you have got more than 268,821 members (as at today). But Nairaland is still a forum, I just feel there is need the you re-shuffle your website to a more engaging and social site, if you don't want a total re-makeup, you can at least add some Modules available for this SMF engine.

For example, you can add a Chatroom module which is important for members to have live conversation and engage more with your members as well. Or you can add so many features available to engage members and bring more people to the website.

Yea, it is better you get 100% of the resources and dump d money in Foreign Banks, at least you will not blame other regions for your Poverty, you will blame your leaders. I think its okay from here, the answer is the Niger Delta governors have done nothing for their own communities, but still seeking more money. This proves they are only Trouble Makers not looking for ways to improve the lives of their communities. Welfarism? It is Evil in its entirety. What a worthless region full of worthless people.

Uncountable billions made from Nigerdelta in recent years - iyen to n ko?
This is not answer, we know 85% of Nigeria's money is from the Niger Delta, but the Niger Deltas received this amount in 6years, what have they done with it? They deserve 100% of the money Nigeria gets. But the question is what did the Niger Delta Governors did with that money? if they get the 100% of the money, are they going to do anything better for their region? Thats the question.
Politics$500 Billion Sent To Niger Delta In 6 Years by auwal87(op): 6:30pm On Dec 05, 2008
Revenue Allocation, Foreign Aids, Oil Price Rise Profits, etc etc combine, the Niger Delta received upto $500 Billion in 6 Years, that is 2 Million Naira for each citizen of the Niger Delta region. The aim of this thread is to find out who's fault is it for Niger Delta's suffering, is it their own Rulers, Governors, and Politicians or the fault of the Federal Government, at least with the $500 Billion they received they can get Good Healthcare services, Good Schools, Good Roads, and become the finest region to live in the country.

I'm not backing the Federal Government, I even want each state in Nigeria to control 100% of its resources. That is if the Division of the country isn't possible now, then let all states of the Niger Area control 100% of its resources, at least no one will blame each other for its under-development, poverty, etc.
Christianity EtcRe: Should A Good Christian Drink Alcohol? by auwal87(m): 4:50pm On Dec 05, 2008
KunleOshob:
@auwal87
Why don't you address the issue of Jesus drinking alcohol instead of giving us your opinion.
I have said this earlier, Jesus may have drank wine classified in the current Juices. But no where in the Bible that says Jesus drank Alcoholic drink or get drunk, since the aim of drinking Alcohol is to get drunk. Please if you have a child, or a teenager, and you saw him drinking, will you not stop him or encourage him to continue drinking? Jesus was an example to Follow, but Alcohol consumption was never encouraged by Jesus, by the way, check your dictionary for the definition of "Wine" and "Alcohol" and see what I am trying to explain to you.

That apart there are several food stuffs which we consume regulary that have health implications. For instance consumption of red meat and eggs (cholesterol) can lead to heart attack and the consumption of sugar can lead to diabetes. The key word is moderation.
Are you trying to say all Non-Vegeterians are likely to have heart attack or diabetes?

it is hypocritical to single out alcohol. If you choose not to drink for what ever reason no problem but it as no basis in christianity as the founder of the faith used to drink and share it with his disciples and tax collectors. Please note that you are bearing false witness when you say a good christian should not drink because you are just giving your own opinion by twisting scripture to support your views.
It is not Hypocritical, but what ever I will not let my Chrildren to do, I would not let my self do it either, why let yourself into what is not compulsory.

I am sure in the issue of unmarried sex you will support using condoms instead of abstinence, would you tell me that the bible also allows and recommend adultery and even Jesus practiced it before? NO!!! Pls don't even try to say that. It is your evil desires that make you think the wrong thing to be right and the right thing to be wrong.

Christianity EtcRe: Should A Good Christian Drink Alcohol? by auwal87(m): 3:35pm On Dec 05, 2008
@ KunleOshob

Yes, my point did not say that Christianity forbid you from drinking Alcohol. What I said is that God will not recommend you to take something that will cause you Problem thereafter, I hope you get my point. There after I said Alcohol consumption have some Health Effects like the following;

Cirrhosis of the Liver
Alcoholic cirrhosis usually develops after more than a decade of heavy drinking, but for some it can develop more quickly. Even moderate drinkers can develop liver problems over time.

Hepatitis C
Regardless of how Hepatitis C is contracted, continuing to drink after being diagnosed causes this liver disease to progress rapidly.

Cancer
Scientists and researchers continue to find a link between even moderate alcohol drinking and an increased risk of certain cancers, especially breast cancer and liver cancer. The more you drink, the greater the risk of developing cancer.

Alcohol Dementia
Long-term or excessive drinking can and does cause damange to the brain -- Neurological damage and memory loss. Some damage can repair itself, but some can become permanent.

Hangovers
The best cure for hangovers is to avoid them. If you consistently get hangovers, you may have a drinking problem. Young people who binge drink could be risking serious damage to their brains now and increasing memory loss later in adulthood, according to research.

HIV / AIDS and Substance Abuse
Drug users and alcohol drinkers are not only more susceptible to getting HIV / AIDS, but they are more likely to see the disease progress than those who do not drink or use illicit drugs.

Sex and Alcohol
Alcohol plays a role for many in our culture in their sexual releationships, but drinking can cause a variety of negative sexual effects on both men and women.

If you say you take only little then that little you take will cause you take another little, little after little, and you will end up finishing bottles of Alcohol.

Please you have to elaborate more on Jesus's recommendation of taking Wine, in His time, even drinks like Zobo are called Wine, please elaborate more on the kind of Wine Jesus drink or recommended someone to drink.

you are still saying the same thing, you want them to die for themselves, are you ready to do the dying for yourself side by side with these nigerians?
yes but are the nigerians abroad not part and parcel of the country??
if nigeria becomes a china or uk or USA tmorro, will the nigerian diasporans not dust their nigerian passport and move back home to nigeria?
if they want to have a properly run nigeria like nigerians at home then we should be ready and patriotic enough to do what the chinese diasporans did, move back to nigeria and do our best for a better nigeria simple!!
So, now you are expecting all Nigerians abroad to come to Nigeria before Nigeria will get better, if that is the case, hmm, For ever will it be better. Nigeria becomes China, UK, USA? Please stop ageing your Keyboard, this will never ever happen, please stop!

Besides, it happens all the time in Niger Area, so it is not a new thing.

Yes, I would not like an average Nigerian to put his life for me, but for himself, because for the person that is already, he has already done, it remains for the people that remain in the country to fight for themselves not for those abroad, they should fight for the never winning war for themselves not for anyone. Because Nigeria was not made to survive, it was made only to cause, and it is causing. So, It has Just began.

i agree that we nigerians constitute a large part of the fault for the copuntry's present situation, its easy to blame the north for everything or blame ibo, yoruba and hausa leaders for our woes but what we are not agreed upon are your reasons,my own reason are that
1) we nigerians are not patriotic
2)its really hard to unify us or to have a single purpose, you will always find a judas amongst every dozen nigerians
3)we are quick to blame the leaders for the decay in infrastructures e.t.c yet most nigerians and even their generations have never paid tax before, yet they are quick to blame the govt.
4)we rarely help each other out,i read somewhere that only 2% of children in orphanages are ever adopted, include that with the child witches and all the other ill in the society we have conveninently ignored before a white person had to point them out to us and you ll realise the uncomfortable truth.
5)tribalism,ethnic bigotry is tearing us apart, and also affecting any coherent thinking from most nigerians.
6)some nigerians abroad who know themselves especially here in the politics section are quick to point out the ills in our society, and nigerians inability to face the corrupt politicians, start a revolution e.t.c are in far away USA in cosy apartments waiting for poor nigerians to die for a clean nigerian after which they will come back here yet they are not ready to fly home and stimulate the journey to change
Well, all what you have said above just confirmed my points;

1. Lie
2. Trust
3. Promise

How would a person abroad come back when Nigerians are not yet ready for the change? He will only come back and continue to suffer together with other Nigerians. But if only he knew that Yes! Now Nigerians are ready for the change, of course he will be glad to Join them.

Christianity EtcRe: What Do We Do About This Muslem Saga? by auwal87(m): 2:28pm On Dec 04, 2008
A times when Poverty and Illitracy becomes popular, Violence rule all over, what ever religion you belong to, you can never escape the rages of downtowns of violence in your innerself, your family, your community, and your country, in as much as Poverty, Illiteracy, and Injustice becomes popular inplace.

Certainly, Good Christians and Good Muslims alike hates Violence, a visit for a day to a Masjid on Friday will give you a clear light of what Islam really teaches about Peace. Some Christians were left to think by the media that Islam is a long-run enemy and violent religion, while in the real sense it is not.

I have been friends to so many Christian brothers and sisters, but we have never come into any disagreement on our daily lives, whether they become tired of seeing me pray five times every day or I become tired of listening to their religious songs every day. It is in fact a kind of experience to live with a different kind of religious experience. It will surprise you to say that I prefer to live with a peace-loving Christian than to live with a Muslim that is Extreme and Violent.

The Violence is Jos is nothing but the re-action on the Hot-Needle that Nigerians as a whole are, they are in need of an urgent theraphy which is supposed to be urgently done on them, that is Justice and Fairness. Everyone will love to have a Peaceful, Democratic, Co-existence country, but it is merely impossible for Nigeria to have such looking at the fact that Nigeria is already in the brink of collapsing. I am sorry to say that, but it is the reality. Nigeria's problem is far from being religious.

For example, there are Muslims in Ghana, Cameroon, Togo, Benin, Senegal, etc etc, but have you ever heard any religious crisis there before? No!

Please avoid the notion that Muslims in general are Violent people, this is a total Propaganda to turn people like you to turn against us.

Peace!
Christianity EtcRe: Should A Good Christian Drink Alcohol? by auwal87(m): 2:14pm On Dec 04, 2008
The Problem is Alcoholic Drinks tends to alter not only with your Moral behaviour but your overall health condition. Would you remember a level where one is tested for Alcoholic levels in his body? If you have more Alcohol in your body, then perhaps you are not well enough to do some things. In this case, whether or not you are allowed to drink alcohol, you should think by yourself that Alcoholic consumption is not generally good for yourself, and sometimes even fatal, if you look at the number of drink and drive people that died, and the cases of Cancer, and so many other diseases.

I am very sure, God will not recommend you to drink what will hurt your body or soul, if He did not forbid you. But it is upto you, Good health or Little Enjoyment.

For me, My Religion does not permit me to drink, and I have never taste a bit of it, and I am having full enjoyment and good time, I don't need it to survive, the Alcohol level in Fruits is okay for my body and soul.

PoliticsRe: Should Nigeria Be Divided? by auwal87(op): 1:28pm On Dec 01, 2008
Dn't be shocked, , I bet you stayed in the North for long time, but to ask you one question, how many people in the North are having good time in their houses, even if you are rich in the North, you have sleepless nights because anytime your house can be broken by robbers, not to even take away your money but your life, What shocks me is that most of these robbers Wallahi are not Northerners, they are mostly Igbos,

It is hard basically to convince the Northerners 4 division because everyone now is interested in politics because of the oil Money, the revenue, that is why I am backing resource control, it will make us re-think that this oil money is not our own, and it will not last like that, maybe that will make them re-think again,

Idan baka sani ba, ko nima din banga amfanin sarakunan mu na yanzu ba, they're useless at this time, because they are spoilt by politicians, recently Governor shekarau distributed hundreds of new expensive cars to the traditional rulers when they're basically doing nothing, You see we need to learn how to utilize money,

This Problem is not from Leaders of Nigeria, but from the Citizens of Nigeria themselves, Now in Nigeria it is very very very hard to find someone that you can trust.

1 - A Nigerian would hardly keep his promise (must add days, weeks, or even months to his promise)
2 - A Nigerian always tell lies and spread rumours across everywhere
3 - A Nigerian would hardly be trusted (esp with Money)
4 - A Nigerian always try as much as possible to cheat (In exam, in business, in anything)

A country that has more than 90% of people that cannot be trusted, how will you expect anything good from that country? Nowadays I see even bank officials are getting involved in Financial Crimes, what a heck!

Well, I'm not a Nigerian, I'm not a Biafran also, I'm a UAE citizen, not the Arab Emirates, but the Arewa Emirates,  I wanted to share this wit u guys,  It is time you stop cheating yourselves, it is time you understand that Nigeria needs to be divided,

They are all the same in terms of hygiene, infrastructure, and content. Do you have pictures of Mushin market too?
Nothing like Murtala Market in Kano, but Abubakar Rimi Market which is popularly known as Sabon Gari Market, I bet this Aba Market is even better than Sabon Gari Market, even though it is in Kano, it is almost 90% populated by Igbo and Yoruba People.
