HTC UK has announced the official rollout of Android 5 Lollipop firmware update for two Desire smartphones. namely ; the htc desire eye and htc desire 816. The update includes all new Lollipop features and performance improvements, but lacks the latest Sense 7 UI. It bumps the Sense version to Sense 6.5, but the 7.0 launcher will roll out on a later date, probably with Android 5.1. HTC has been steadily bringing Lollipop to its popular smartphones. You can already find it on HTC One and HTC One M8, it even kicked off on HTC Desire E8 and Butterfly S a few days ago. if you have any of these devices , go to settings > about phone > software update and see if you have an update available.

Samsung is best known for its phones these days, but behind the successful Galaxy line are huge component factories and R & D laboratories. The latest in their creations include a new 8MP ISOCELL selfie camera and a new NFC chip. Both components tie into two of the biggest fashions in the mobile market , selfies and mobile payments. The front-facing camera focuses on low-light performance and color fidelity. It’s build on the ISOCELL technology, which Samsung claims improves light sensitivity by 30% while also decreasing crosstalk between pixels by 30% (this reduces noise). Interestingly, the camera sensor has a RWB pattern, Red/White/Blue. Swapping out Green pixels with White ones lead to an improvement of light sensitivity and color fidelity. The company claims that RWB is similar enough to RGB that the camera can work without a converting filter, which would increase color deviation. The new NFC chip comes with improved RF performance, which means the chip can use a tiny antenna and doesn’t need an extra signal booster chip. This will allow manufacturers to make thinner and lighter phones. The sensor is Just 1/4″ big with 1.12µm pixels. It can output video at 30fps. The camera will enter mass production in the second quarter of this year. Memory cards come in powers of 2GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB and so on. SanDisk just broke the record with a new 200GB microSD card. It’s a follow-up to the to the first ever 128GB but offers 56% more storage that’s enough to record 20 hours of 1080p video. The card is water proof, temperature proof (-25°C to 85°C / -13°F to 185°F), shock proof, magnet proof and even X-ray proof. The 200GB microSD card will become available worldwide in Q2 at $400. which is probably way over the price most stores will ask not long after launch – the 128GB card is currently $100, having started at $130.
