Politics › Re: Worsening Economy: If You Have Shame, You Will Shut Up, FG Replies Ekweremadu by awa(m): 7:50pm On Dec 13, 2015
APC should focus on turning the economy around. Nigerians didn't vote them into power to remind us how PDP destroyed the economy at every slightest opportunity. Enough of this blame games and get to work. APC might loose credibility if they continue like this. ....

That is not in any way close to solution of restiveness in the society. Push that amount to generate employment. We have a lot of construction works to do in this nation. The money can be used in that direction. Dont make people lazy but engage them productively Mr. President.

Thanks

What is peacefull about harming Youth Corpers, burning Dangote's trucks and the Hausa Central Mosque at Onitsha ?
Your repeated comments on this discussion is not just hateful but also polarised. I doubt if you were ever near the protest scene to see things for yourself before coming here to comment as it pleases you.

Mind you I totally condemn any act of violence in whatever form it might be against anybody. However your emphasis on attacks on NYSC Members is certainly doubtful. Protest reported to have taken place at the Onitsha Bridge Head wouldn't have targeted nor single out NYSC Members as Culprits.
Find something more logical to say as you respond to my comment.

Mr. Buhari you are not handling this IPOB issue very well. I had great respect for you but I think you are not fair enough in this case. You made avoidable mistake in arresting Kanu and his continuous incarceration is abuse of his human right.
Stop leading this nation to more state of anarchy. Find solutions instead of compounding the issues.

Politics › Re: Biafra Agitators Burn Two Trailers At Onitsha Head Bridge (Pics) by awa(m): 2:40pm On Dec 02, 2015
Our individual comments here goes along way to show how divided we are as a nation. Some segment of the nation feels they have total peace if war breaks out in another segment. That's blatant lies. War does no one any good whether Igbos, Yoruba nor Hausa Fulani.

Agitation for war to me is uncalled for despite there are genuine reasons for the Igbos to feel like breaking away from entity called Nigeria. I think there is total misplacement of priorities by the ruling Class which has led to further frustration among the unemployed Igbo youths that form majority of the foot protesters.

Time and space might fail me to do a little exposition on this agitation however, the failure of immediate administration to address some of the key issues affecting the igbo nation might have aggravated this one time silent agitation. Igbos saw immediate past administration as a possible Messiah to address some fundamental issue responsible for this agitation but that never came through.

The present administration's naivety in looking for a more appropriate ways of handling the igbo silent agitation has led us to where we are. The prominent body language of His Excellency has triggered this issue further. Elections have come and gone, those that won should tow on the redemption line of inclusive government but that's not the case. I am certainly not surprised because they ordinarily don't even know what inclusive government is all about.

I challenge the present administration to look for amicable way of sustaining this nation as one because going all out for war won't do any tribe good.
At the same time I call on all IPOB and other Pro Biafran groups to shelve their sleeves and work with present administration to better the lots of all.
IPOB has made their voice heard but taking it further might strain the loudable and clarion call which is aimed at betterment and oneness of all gbos.

And to you who comes here to incite violence be warned. War is not to any tribe benefits. Let's look for ways to sort our tribal differences without restoring to war and hatred.

I AM AN IGBO BY TRIBE BUT A NIGERIAN BY NATIONALITY.
I DON'T SUPPORT VIOLENCE BUT I SUPPORT GOOD OF ALL TRIBES.
NO TRIBE SHOULD BE RELEGATED TO THE BACKGROUND DUE TO WHO THEY VOTED FOR IN 2015.

God bless Nigeria
God bless You

Yes ooo my broda. But if you have been following Boko Haram since 2009 you wont be surprised. So many Igbo boys were paraded then selling toolz for the sect.
Stop writing rubbish here. You can be Muslim without being a Terrorist fine but correlating the self-inflicted crisis in the northeast with Igbo tribe is outrightly offensive. Issues in the northeast were fanned by your people not igbos. Ten years from now you will still be training Almagiris in your Religious communities instead of encouraging and engaging them meaningfully.

PMB has chosen his Ministers and assigned portfolio to some while others are yet or could not secure any portfolio for now.

Enough of this media hypes. Let's just wait and see the change promised being delivered.

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Shell Discrimination Of HND Holders, Equating Them With Bsc Third Class. by awa(m): 2:46pm On Nov 10, 2015
fratermathy:
This is getting too old and stale.

While I do not support totally embarrassing HND graduates and denying them of promotions, appointments and a chance to make a successful career, it should be noted that HND and B.Sc/B.A/B.Agric/B.Tech/LL.B/B.Fisheries are different and the dichotomy must be emphasised.
HND is a technical diploma. It is technically not even a Degree but a National Diploma. B.Sc and its other appellations are the recognised standard for academic, theoretical and career based jobs and appointments. That is not to say HND cannot be used. It is just that HND is better off for handy middle-levelled and technical jobs/careers. The whole essence of HND is to make sure that there are middle-levelled skilled people in the society that can be called upon and relied on for their technical expertise. University graduates are seen as having done a theoretical study with much intellectual rigour and are, thus, deemed to have a high intellectual acuity for certain professions and careers. This must be known and not relegated. No matter how much sentiments come in and no matter how much we try to equate these certifications, the sacrosanct fact is that they are not the same. As long as one is a "Diploma" and another is a "Degree", they can NEVER be treated equal and same.

On the issue of Shell equating HND with Third Class, I have iterated in the previous paragraph that HND is not seen as an intellectually inclined degree but rather as a technically inclined diploma. Having a Distinction in HND only proves that you have an excellent technical expertise, perhaps even beyond that of University Degree holders. However, this does not translate into the fact that you are intellectually buoyant enough to stand a University First Class product. It doesn't add up. For one, our Nigerian Polytechnics operate a 4 points GPA system as opposed to the 5 Points used in our Nigerian varsities. Secondly, the units of courses taken in HND programmes are far lower, both individually and cumulatively, when compared with a University. Thirdly, the course contents in Polytechnics are peripheral and elementary as opposed to that of a University! Fourthly, the calibre of academic staff and their standing is much lower than that of a University. For one, a Polytechnic cannot have a Professorial Cadre! Polytechnics usually have substandard facilities and make-shift labs and instruments. All these come together to haunt the graduates of Nigerian Polytechnics!

The solution to all these bifurcations is easy. Polytechnics should be made to award a B.Tech rather than an "Ordinary" or "Higher" diploma. Polytechnic facilities should be overhauled and made to standards. The Professorial Cadre, alongside its competitive and cumbersome "floating" process, should be introduced to the Polytechnics. Polytechnics should employ the 5 or more Points GPA system and courses should be well developed, standard and carry higher units! In fact, the term Polytechnic should be hijacked from parlance and replaced with University of Technology or any other soothing appellation. We should always strive to follow the UK pattern in our technological pedagogical system.

Finally, on the issue of ostracization and stigmatization, I believe it is only Nigerian Legislative Bodies that can end this once and for all. As long as they are comfortable with it, nothing will change! Let's just stop flogging this issue and look forward to better things! This issue has been discussed, ignited and quenched severally since Nigerian employers' decisions to employ preferential treatments! It is time we either take drastic measures or simply let it go as we have always done.

#MyTake
Mr. Baminasri, I am sorry about your plight! Your best is yet to come. I'd advise you to get a PGD and possibly a Masters though.
