Agbalowomeri:
I no buy MTN for 200 I go come buy for 700 grin
The numbers aren't absolute.
Buying at N200 might have meant you were paying a premium, whereas N700 for the same stock is a steal.

You should still be aggressive for another 5 years at least.

Maybe it's even cos people think the "Agba" we clip off your moniker means elder, whereas it does indeed have zero correlation.

For those who don't know, "Agba" in this context means collector

But it's only fixed deposit pennies that he's collecting.

Agba is an old man so there are risks he won't love
He's not that old na.

He should still be able to play this market with 40% of his investment portfolio.

Another pull back is here, MTN sold for 700 today.

Nobody is above fear in this game ooo.
Japaul may have good prospects, but the challenge is how to maximize the deployment of one's capital between now and May2026 when it is expected to see another rally.
But if we had a confidence scale, 0 being most fearful, 100 being most confident, someone like Agba is would be on 3 while I'd be on like 97.

I sort of feel that 3 is too generous.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by awesomeJ(m): 3:16pm On Feb 26
mikeapollo:
Japaul is in the kitty already, but I don't mind offloading it to invest in Providus-Unity shares
Better.

I thought you let fear sway you.

If he joined JAPAUL yesterday or today he for dey cruise small 🦐
Would have been N30m in profits and counting.

But fear go greehuh 😁😁😁😁

Now, the same guy will probably start bidding for it tomorrow at max price.

Is this market not just so funny.

I honestly can't stop laughing.

mikeapollo:
That means I must put aside some funds urgently. They may just list in March2026
Does this mean you've deployed the funds you wanted to buy Japaul with?

Stock you were pleading desperately for at 4.7 crashed to 3.3, yet you didn't buy??

Fear is a crazy bastartd 😁😁😁😁

This market is just so funny 🤣🤣🤣🤣

It's easier if people stick to their lane sha.

Long termers trying to speculate will always be extremely funny.

Make e no be pre-election abracadabra. Similar appreciation happened sometime in Feb/March 2024 but did not last.
I hope this one is sustained.
Preventing the speedy appreciation as they're doing is as a result of lessons learnt from 2024.

This time, i'm confident of its sustainability.

I also expect 1200-1250 by Q2.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by awesomeJ(m): 3:35pm On Feb 24
Index obeying our 185k call.

0.91% down for the session. 😎

Abeg is rate going up, down or sideways?

Meanwhile where are all those people that were saying bank money is fake money?

Zenith bank up over 50% from date of that discussion (AND STILL RISING)

Anyway fundamentally sound stocks are rallying. Speculative stocks are getting slaughtered. All is well with the world. Shalom!
slightly downwards.

This is exactly what our market needs. Only banking stocks should still be going up for now.

InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by awesomeJ(m): 1:48pm On Feb 24
Rates decision in less than 30 minutes.

My guess is either an outright cut of 50bps or an adjustment around the corridor that effectively delivers 100-150bps cut.

All these self-regulation when the holding structure goal is profiteering is just cosmetics, SEC should stand up to its mandate of protecting the investors as the sector regulator.
I agree.
But as the owner of the platform, they will still need their own rules which we partipants have to play by.

Valthegreat:
I think you are comparing 🍏 with 🍊. Compare apple with apple so that we will have a justifiable outcome. NCR is an old stock that has circulated properly into different hands both whales and retail investors so controlling the price can only work if all holders are in agreement just like FTGINSURE currently. But in the case of ZICHIS only the directors have the shares because of the listing by introduction. Just ask yourself this question, could the price have jumped this high if they listed by public offer? Very impossible because different holders will be happy to sell at different prices e.g #2.05 for quick ejaculators like Loco (LOL!), #2.30 for JIJOISTs like Ginalex, #3 for BILLIONAIRE preservers (deceivers) like Agba or even at #20 for Aradite holders like YMCY. With the picture painted above you can see that there will be liquidity at every junction and as such price manipulation will be impossible.
You're exactly right.
But let NGX have more robust regulations to avoid unnecessary issues.

From my days of programming backend engineering, we think of as many crazy scenarios as possible and make our logic accommodate them. That's how to build robust stable and sophisticated systems.

But even the most robust systems still have some weird, crazy, edge cases unhandled, what do you do then, simple, just push a new patch and have a new release/version.

If you had an app that's never been updated in the past 6 years, you can imagine how hectic your user experience would be.

So are these old NGX rules becoming, they need a little bit of refinement.

The market has changed significantly from what it was in 2019.

As a matter of fact, since the demutualization that gave birth to a stand alone Regco, the said company, whose core job is regulation has not even come up with a single new rule, not even an amendment to an old rule, yet the market keeps changing.

I put the larger blame on the NGX in this situation.

Thanks for the info.

@the bolded, the reverse is the case here rather. The directors of ZICHIS are guilty until proven otherwise. If retail investors doesn't have the shares yet after almost one month then who has been pushing the prices of not the holders who doubles as th directors?
I get your perspective.

I'm just saying the NGX could have put measures in place to prevent that.

There's no rule against hoarding. I mean just days back, people still hoarded Japaul thinking it was headed to 1k.

So you can't blame them for hoarding.

But if there's collusion on their part as regards creating fake bids and sorts, then they're culpable.

If not, let NGX say the share price will remain stuck at listing price (1.81) until 20% of OS are floating freely. This would have mitigated the situation.

Can someone help me explain how this works? Even though Ellah no bids visible, there are trades going on.
Haaaa..
This is trading 101 na.

When a stock is on full offer, any small bid that shows up will automatically and instantly get filled before it gets any chance of showing up on the order book.

Like, that's exactly how it should behuh

ANYWAY!!!! Zenith rising; Ellah and Japaul falling, all is right with the world.
Yes sir.

mikeapollo:
So the NGX management too should be blamed and were wrong in suspending them? Zichis has played by the rules and done nothing wrong?
The NGX isn't wrong in suspending them. But they're to be blamed for not reviewing their rules to accommodate present day realities.

If they simply added a clause that no price movement would happen until free float requirements are met, it's a simple rule , easy to enforce and it would have prevented or at least limited this sort of situation.

The more painful one is the AIRTEL situation.

That stock alone would have added another N10trn to our market cap if not their archaic rule that's preventing trades on it.

Transpower offers looks ridiculously fishy. Everyone listing the same number of shares for sale at the same price?
Nothing fishy. If you have 720k units to offload and you don't want to crash the price, that's how you would place them on sale

Rates going back up , might be temporary , BM is back over 1400 transfer , official also higher

https://thenationonlineng.net/cbn-mops-up-dollars-to-slowdown-naira-appreciation/
The CBN is concerned about too fast a pace for the appreciation. I learnt they were net takers from the market last week. Almost $200m they bought off sellers, they themselves not having to sell any dollars to the market. They bought off people to avoid too rapid movement.

If you were an FPI that brought in $1bn at N1500, should the currency move too rapidly to N1250, you have a 20% incentive to sell off your debt and have your original N1.5 trn capital now buy as much as $1.2bn worth of cheap dollars.

If all FPIs ran that maths, the demand would be too crazy for the CBN to match, so steady gains are preferred.

I still expect 1200 to 1260 by Q2.
I actually want that. I guess most of us naira earners do.

I should blame myself and not the company if I should fall prey to those kind of manipulation on NGX cool
Exactly.
The company isn't responsible for your greed.

You willingly placed a bid to buy a company with zero equity, sometimes negative equity, sometime crazy earnings multiples like 100x

You sent in the order on your own accord, if it backfires, 10000000% of the blame is on you.

Life isn't supposed to be hard.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by awesomeJ(m): 11:35am On Feb 24
mikeapollo:
Then you should appreciate what folks are saying here because you and I could fall prey to such schemes.
There is no double standards here.
Any stock can reach a height if there is enough liquidity in the market to support it. In Zichis case, there was no liquidity (retail investors did not have it) but their management and brokers/registrars decided to deal a few 100,00s per day to gain 10% and push the price up to 900%. If there was genuine liquidity, some investors would be selling or buying so the price may go up, down or stabilize on some days, but not straight 10% daily for a whole month! Even MTN, Dangote Cement, Airtel etc. did not achieve that.

Everyone benefits when things are done right in the market.
It sounds like double standard, cos when NCR rose with absolutely zero fundamentals, rose maybe 300% in one month, Mankind2024 praised it, and all, no body complained. Yet it traded thinly then as well.

@Mpeace, JAPAULGOLD is now on full offer.

Sometimes take a trader's insight seriously if you're only speculating.

Take Pa Emma's if you're doing long term.

Take Agba's if all you care about is capital preservation.

I am not in support of what Zich did.
What i am against is the double standards that some people are exhibiting.
There have been some clear cases of manipulation before them which the same people supported just because they hold the stock.
I tried to buy the stock the first 2 days after they were listed purely for speculation with no success so I don't have any single unit of Zich.
My own position as well.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by awesomeJ(m): 11:26am On Feb 24

There could have been manipulation and that is not my point.
A number of other companies could as well be guilty of manipulation.
If you care to know the free float of zich, can you tell me the free float of BUA food and BUA cement too?
The free float regulation is an either/or:

20% or N20bn worth

The BUAs qualify based on the N20bn
