Yet another scheme has gone down. When will Nigerians learn. A company suddenly wakes up, has over 19 subsidiaries and starts crowd funding!

My friends 7m gone down, yet to receive payment after 90 days. Post dated cheque invalid. They keep saying SEC issue, and she should roll over . Investment that matured since April.

I am ICAN and recently got my CPA Canada.

Had to start from core 1. Took me 18 months. I will say just start.

You can send me an email and I am happy to connect with you.

Anyone here going through the foreign trained accountant route to CPA? I’ve read the website back to back and know the requirements and all that but would love to relate with someone already going through the program or intends to. I have a B.Sc in Accounting and ICAN but I’d not yet completed ACCA when the MOU expired. The thought of going through exams again and the cost is just making me weak but sadly, it is what it is.

Back to my initial question, anyone here? Let’s reason together Biko. I’m in Ontario

If you want to do it the official way I will suggest Canada. We are a family of 5 and relocated to canada as permanent residents. You can check the Canadian express entry thread for more infor on the process.

Actual application cost us about 1.8m
Flight ticket 1.2m

Note that you need to show proof of fund of almost 8m.

Also there is no short cut if you want to do it the legal way which I will always advice.

Landing Gist.
Family of 5.
Happy new year all. I didn’t want my landing gist to have part 1 & 2; hence I waited for it to be almost complete.

Our PPR took over 10months and we had less than 5 weeks to travel from when COPR was issued. Everything was a mad rush! Bought winter jackets and sweaters from Yaba market.

Flight was scheduled with Ethiopian airline on the 19th December. We were entitled to 10bags and 5 hand luggage but we had only 5bags and 1 hand luggage.

Check in and customs was a breeze as we had only one bag of food. Our bags were not weighed since we were way below our baggage allowance.

Flight from Lagos to Addis Ababa was ok,the kids behaved surprisingly nice, they watched cartoons and didn’t sleep at all. Take off was a bit scary for our youngest child as he hadn’t flown ever. Food was crappy and the kids passed on it but hubby and I ate.

About 2 hours waiting time at Addis Ababa which went by very quickly. We ate part of the snacks I had prepacked. ( Chinchin, biscuit, plantain chips). We were given priority boarding as we had kids.

Airplane used Fromm Addis Ababa to Toronto was same size howbeith newer. I was disappointed as I wanted more leg space. Food was served and the kids managed to eat a bit of the pasta. Everyone slept the whole 8 hours to Dublin.

Less than an hour at Dublin for refuelling, no one was allowed to disembark or use the toilet. We took off again, then the drama began! The kids became restless, my son cried non stop and nothin could pacify him. He was starving and I regretted not packing cereal and sandwich for him. My legs ached, and I was tired of running after the kids inthe plane. At a point I let them be and they disturbed almost everyone. Many were friendly towards them and tried to engage them. Finally the flight attendant brought them gift bags filled with toys, bricks , stickers, colour pencils and colour papers. That kept them busy for the rest of the journey.

Food was served 5 times all through but after the 3rd round, I stopped collecting as the food was bland and I was just so tired.

We landed Toronto Pearson at about 8am, I filled the landing card, proceeded to custom who asked me if I had milk or chicken. We were then directed to immigration. Lao,the queue was so lonnnng. We were separated into PR and student visa. Finally it got to our turn, not much question, asked us if we have ever been convicted and how much we have. Welcomed us to canada and directed us to were we will get our SIN.

We were done at about 12noon, claimed our baggage, dropped our declaration card and exited the building. Jumped into the TAXI straight A’s the cold hit our faces. Got to our Airbnb in less than 20mins and really loved the place.

Everyone was starving and thank God I brought complete ingredients for spaghetti. Made a quick fix using sardine and sat her tomato. Quick shower for everyone and we all slept.

The next 2 days, our body system was stilll messed up. We couldn’t do much and just kept sleeping, waking, eating and sleeping again.

By the 3rd day we were well rested and started exploring our environment, went to open our bank account and got our mobile. Did some shopping also.

We stayed in Toronto till 26th of December before we proceeded to Ottawa our final destination. We got a car and the journey was about 5 hours. We stopped over half way at the at the gas station, grabbed some panini and hot chocolate. We got to our Airbnb which was actually just bordering Gatineau. Really nice apartment. Made Eba and warmed our Egwusi.Everyone ate and slept off.

Apartment hunting started and we were getting frustrated, we had no reference, no jobs, no guarantors. Most agents were on holiday and cancelled many of the viewing bookings. Taxi was really expensive. Many of the apartments had been leased out and only February was vacant. I was almost getting depressed as the weather was way colder than in Toronto and moving around was a challenge. God showed up for us on the 31st and we got a nice 2 bedroom. No application was made, no reference was required, no pay stud. The woman just liked me and decided to favour us. Paid 1st and last month, signed the lease agreement.

School hunt starts on Thursday for myself and the kids as I do not plan working immediately.

God bless us all and may we all have a great year.

Thank you for your concern.

I thought through it and will go through repacking if anyone indicates interest.

Also it can't just be anybody. There will be strict selection process.

SixSigma1:

I know that you just trying to help in your own way but I do not think this is good idea. The reason for this is that for the airline to accept the luggage it will be checked in under your name and you will be responsible for the contents of the luggage. I am not sure you want to be responsible for luggage that you did not pack by yourself or not packed by someone you know and trust.

If however, the airline will agree to check in the luggage under the name of the person you are trying to help (I doubt this but nothing is impossible in Nigeria), you may go ahead. Otherwise, please do not do it.

This is just my one kobo advice for what it is worth. The decision is ultimately yours to take.

@sting007 big congratulations.

I understand the mixed feelings. I waited over 10 months and got my PPR Nov 8th. Medical expires January 6. This gave us roughly 8 weeks to prepare. However, January ticket prices were high and we a family of 5. December was cheaper, so we booked December 24th.

It's a mad rush. So many things to be done in a short time.

Please resign immediately so you don't have to pay any lieu of salary.

I made a list of all we need to do and I tick off as I conclude.

We can't even sell most of our things as there is no time to bargain.

Airbnb is a big challenge cos there is scarcity due to the festive period hence high price.

In all I think God.

God bless and guide you.

Sting007:

EXTREMELY LONG POST AND PROBABLY BORING ALERT!!

This is coming with mixed feelings... Cos, I'm feeling quite overwhelmed at the mad rush to conclude modalities to travel (approximately 1 month).

Going back to hibernation, but actively and aggressively trying to get things set while waiting for the passports to set other things in motion. Hoping not to get too overwhelmed as I really am...

Thank you darling.
So we do not need to submit our current Nigerian payslips or employment letter?
I have resigned but hunny hasn't resigned yet.

A detailed but clear letter of invitation stating that you’ll want her to .Paper application seems a bit faster than online, but I’ve also seen people that applied online (no travel history) in October and have gotten their visas.

Praise to the Lord the Almighty the king of creation!
Gather round people, it's PPR!

Below is my timeline
Decision to travel August 2017.
Family of 5
Visa office: initially London, moved to kyiv in August.
IELTS: September 2017.
My IELTS was written once and was perfect 9,8,8,8.
Spouse IELTS 7.5,7.5,7,7
ECA: Masters Nov 2017
Entered the pool Dec.
ITA January
AOR January 17th 2018
Medical Passed Feb 11th 2018
IP1 Feb 12th 2018
IP2 Feb 27th 2018
Then silence. Not even a single ADR.
Ordered 1st GCMS notes April 2018 everything looked perfect.
Then complete silence.
Ordered 2nd GCMS notes July 2018, this never arrived
Wrote Raplh who confirmed Eligibility and Security not yet started.
More silence, not even a ghost update
October 3rd 2018 ordered 3rd set of GCMS notes. Arrived Nov. 1st. Still same as April notes. My file had not been touched since March 2018. Eligibility and Security not yet started.
Wrote a 3rd mail to Ralph on Nov 4th who was gracious enough to respond (Ralph responds only once). He confirmed that my eligibility and security was not yet started and my application cannot be expedited.
Nov 8th, like a dream ! my PPR!

Checked email and profile this morning and saw nothing.

By 2pm during my lunch break, I saw a mail notification, I wanted to ignore but decided to check.

I saw a mail from donotreply@cic.gc.ca that I have an update on my profile. I was excited, that finally I am getting a ghost update / adr.

I logged into my cic acct and saw my profile was updated. I was so excited, thinking it was just a ghost update and that finally my file was receiving attention. I wanted to log out but I felt the nudge to proceed and click on view complete application which I did.

Nothing seemed to have changed, my background check was still in process, I was about to log out again, when I felt that urge to scroll further down to the mail section.

I saw I had a new mail, titled request letter. I already concluded that it was an ADR for fresh bank statement. Love and behold, it was the almighty PPR.

I wasn't expecting it to come without an ADR for updated POF since my application had been pending for almost 10months. I lost appetite immediately, and was was just screaming. I couldn't share the news with my colleagues, so I just lied to them that my husband got a new job!.

I am immensely grateful to God Almighty who did not put me to shame. Delay is not denial. Though it tarries, it must surely come.

Thank you all for all the love and support.

Off to take my pictures and submit tomorrow.

This year has been so challenging. hubby and I lost our jobs, all our money tied at POF, we were feeding from Hand to mouth and struggled to pay school fees. Infact this September, we had to change their schools to a very cheap school.

God bless you all.

Mine took exactly 11months. I suggest you send them a mail to politely complain. I did so and 3days later I got my PR. My visa officer mailed to ask if I can make it before medicals expires since it was going to expire shortly. I told him I would make it and the very next day my PR was issued.

Seems IRCC has forgotten me. 10 months post AOR. My 3rd set of GCMS notes arrived. Eligibility and Security not yet started.

Notes almost exactly same as 1st note ordered in April. Only difference was movement from London to Kyiv.

Lol, 7m is small money if you are in Lagos with kids.

You will be living an average life and won't be able to go on vacation, ride brand new car, stay in nice beautiful serviced estates. Your kids will attend average school.

Someone earning minimum wage in Canada can afford all the listed above.

My brother aabeg move to Canada for your kids.
