PoliticsOndo State Govt Awards N17.38bn Worth Of Projects In South Senatorial District by ayfay047(op): 4:51pm On Nov 01, 2018
The Ondo State Government has awarded no fewer than 390 projects worth N17.38 billion in Ondo South Senatorial district between January and September in the 2018 budgetary provisions.

Mr Emmanuel Igbasan, the state Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, made the disclosure on Thursday in Okitipupa during a town hall meeting with stakeholders in the senatorial district on 2019 Budget.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the senatorial district comprises: Ilaje, Okitipupa, Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo, Irele, Ese-Odo and Odigbo Local Government Areas.

Igbasan said that the projects, which cut across the district, were meant to transform the area as planned by Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

According to him, N6 billion has been paid to the various contractors handling the projects.

The commissioner said that some of the projects include: 191 school projects executed by the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) worth over N2 billion and N5.8 billion worth of integrated rice project comprising a rice farm of 5,000 hectares at Ese-Odo Local Government Area of the district.

The commissioner also mentioned the N4.4 billion worth of fertiliser blending plant contract being executed at Odigbo Local Government area of the district.

He said that over N250 million was recently approved by the state governor as 2015/2016 Bursary/Scholarship benefits for 5,393 undergraduate and post- graduate students from Ilaje and Ese Odo Local Government Areas through Ondo State Oil Producing Development Area Commission (OSOPADEC).

Igbasan said that the state government was determined to have an all-inclusive, robust and people-oriented budget in 2019.

According to him, the forum is designed to seek inputs and candid opinions on the fiscal policy of the state in a bid to ensure a prosperous state.

“We need your feedback on what we have done or doing and what you feel we should do to expand the fiscal space of the state; create wealth for the people; reverse the trend of huge infrastructure deficit and in the long run, ensure better and brighter state.

“The need for robust and sound budget cannot be over-emphasised. Hence, we must realise that we must challenge ourselves and be prepared to think anew; act anew and create anew through contribution of our quota,’’ he said.

Igbasan said that at the end of the process, creative ideas and initiatives that would make 2019 budget respond to the yearnings of the people would be generated.

Mr Bunmi Alade, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, said that if ideas and prioritised needs of the people were entrenched in the budget, it would be called People’s Budget and not Government’s Budget.

Alade noted that the new dimension was the best practice for the state, especially the present economic reality which restricted the state government from meeting virtually all needs.

In his remark, the Jegun of Idepe Okitipupa, Oba Michael Obatuga, lauded Akeredolu led-administration for coming up with the forum for the people at the grassroots to contribute to the fiscal policy of the government.

The traditional ruler appealed to the state government to implement all requests being tabled.

Mr Funminiyi Olowodasa, President of National Association of the Physically Challenged in Irele Local Government Area of the district, commended the governor for his welfare programmes for the disabled and for appointing a member of the association into his cabinet.

Olowodasa appealed to the state government to employ members of the association, especially the educated ones, into the state civil service and get others engaged in various empowerment programmes.

Mr Agbejoye Adetoye, the Chairman, Niger Delta Youth Movement (NDYM), Ondo State Chapter, said that the proposed budget should consider youth engagement in meaningful and substantive means in reducing drastically social vices, especially theft and violence.
PoliticsBREAKING: Tinubu, Amaechi, Receive The Biggest Offers by ayfay047(op): 12:45pm On Nov 01, 2018
The All Progressive Congress, APC, which is the main ruling political party in Nigeria, and most likely to retain power in 2019, has concluded its final list of members of the party’s 2019 Presidential Campaign Council, for its Presidential Candidate, Muhammadu Buhari.

Although, sources could not reveal the full list of members of the Presidential Campaign Council, it however, mention that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu will be playing a very major role in the Presidential Campaign Council, as Chairman.

The former Lagos Governor has been briefed on this proposal, and was one of the issues that was discussed during his meeting with Buhari yesterday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, said the source, is, however, proposed to continue in his position as the director-general of the campaign.

By the time-table of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the ban on electioneering for presidential candidates would be lifted on November 18.

Tinubu, according to the source, is being proposed for that role because of his vast experience in electioneering, a talent he reportedly displayed during the 2015 campaign that brought Buhari to power.

“The president has so much confidence in Tinubu, and feels that he would be best suited to lead the campaign,” the source revealed.

In his first assignment, the Jagaban of Lagos, attacked the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, saying, the former VP is going nowhere in the 2019 elections.

Tinubu was reacting to the meeting of Atiku, in Dubai, over the 2019 elections.

Tinubu, who spoke with State House Correspondents after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari said Atiku can meet anywhere to strategise, but Nigerians will not vote for him.

When asked if he was jittery about Atiku meeting in Dubai to unseat Buhari, he said: “We do not fear, whether it is in the jungle, or is in Dubai, or is in Abu Dhabi, people are free to meet and strategise in any way they form, but we are not going back to the illusion of the PDP.

“It is not possible, Nigerians will not do that. They say slow and steady wins the race; we inherited that from our forefathers and knowledgeable people.

“We cannot go back to the pit that we inherited for 16 years. They can strategise from anywhere, but a leopard cannot change it skin”, he said.
PoliticsAyetoro Community Saved From Extinction - Gov. Akeredolu Works With FG by ayfay047(op): 11:56am On Nov 01, 2018
The efforts of the Ondo State Government to save Ayetoro Community in Ilaje Local government from going to extinction have received a positive turn around as President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Assembly on Wednesday sent delegations to the oil rich community to assess the level of damage caused by the recurring ocean surge and to proffer solutions on how to ease the people’s conditions.

Ayetoro community, founded in 1947 by some group of Christian religious adherents and fishermen mostly of Ilaje extraction, had been battling with Atlantic sea incursion for the past 10 years and this menace had already washed away about five kilometers of the community

The recent crisis, which occurred around July this year, caught the attention of the state government as the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, immediately sent a delegation led by the Deputy Governor, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, to the community to sympathize with the victims and also assured them that federal government attention would be called on this,

While assessing the level of damaged caused by the ocean surge, the federal government officials led by the Minister of Environment, Ibrahim Usman Jubril, Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Environment, Hon. Obinna Chidoka and the Permanent Secretary, Ecological Fund office, Dr. Habiba Mudalawa, said their hearts are heavy seeing an oil producing community been washed away by sea.

Jubril, particularly lauded Akeredolu for being responsive to challenges of his people, assuring that the federal government would never allow Ayetoro to go into extinction.
According to the Minister, “Just last week, the complete report of ecological problems in the country were summited to the Federal Executive Council, and I know there is no state that was left out. It took couple of months for the ecological fund to send people across the county to do direct assessment and I know Ondo State is not left out. We have been in touch with the Government of Ondo State, and it has sent some representatives and we are talking with the Ecological fund office.
“We have to look at it from the perspective of short medium and long term strategy and if we are going to have a long term strategy we will need experts, not only from Nigeria but even outside the shores of Nigeria. They are people in other countries who had lived below sea level and they have been able to reclaim their lands and move forward and nothing stops us from trying to emulate them.

“We should know that there is no way we can accommodate the issue of Ayetoro through the normal annual budgetary provision. So, we need a long term plan and that means both the local government, [Ilaje], the state and the federal governments, we must put our heads together in order to ensure that we address this situation. No life is useless. Every life of a Nigerian matters to the government. We are looking at the perspective of changing the livelihood of people. It is sad for every father to see your children permanently living under water.

“Going forward, we have to continue the engagement with the state government, the federal ministry of environment and the ecological fund office. We must put all our resources together to ensure that we start from somewhere. We need to get all out academicians. There are institutions of higher learning here and I am sure that those who are experts in Marine studies, ecological issues, civil engineering and others must come together.

The House of Representatives Chairman Committee on Environment, Chidoka promised that the Assembly would throw its weight behind any ecological budget provision that will save Ayetoro from going into extinction.
On his part, the Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, who led the officials on the assessment tour, commended Muhammadu Buhari’s administration for its quick response to the yearnings of the people of the state.

Ajayi noted that since the recent surge in Ayetoro community, the state government had been on the neck of the federal government on how to save the community from the Atlantic sea threatening its existence, adding that this would be the first time, a President would sent his officials to the community to have a firsthand information.

The Deputy Governor, who insisted that despite the menace had gone beyond the state government, the state had always kept in touch with the people of Ayetoro community by distributing relief materials to the victims of the ocean surge.

PoliticsAkeredolu Rehabilitates The Dilapidated Owo-ikare Road by ayfay047(op): 4:15pm On Oct 29, 2018
For many years, the Federal Government-owned Owo-Ikare Road was a dead trap. Commuters, motorists and other users of the busy road incessantly cried to the supervising Federal Ministry of Works in Abuja for intervention in the dilapidated road.

The wailing and agony were not without the loss of lives, valuable properties and productive man hours lost to the poor condition of the road. Eventually, the road became impassable, thus forcing commuters and other users of the road tried to painfully maneuver their ways through the derelict highway to their destination.

Unfortunately, the road users became worst off when they realized that there was no alternative route for them to link Ikare-Akoko, Oba-Akoko, Iwaro-Akoko and other communities in the Northern Senatorial District of Ondo State.

Even worse was the experience of travelers who fell victim to kidnappers who pounced on motorists who were left stranded at bad portions in the Akoko areas of the road. Motorists who are forced to either slow down or in some cases stop as a result of huge pot holes fell victims to the dare-devil men of the underworld.

But in spite of all these devastating challenges and their attendant fear of being abducted along the road by suspected kidnappers, the Federal Ministry of Works, Abuja, seemed to have looked the other way. The motorists’ long wait for the intervention of the supervising Federal Ministry of Works appeared endless. This was after some young graduates have lost cherished man hours on the road and ultimately lost the opportunity to secure their dream jobs.

A 26-year-old Musbau Jimoh, an applicant, was one of such young individuals who had suffered untoward experience on the road. With full of hope, Ajani boarded an Abuja-bound 18-seater passenger bus early in the morning of Wednesday, August 1, 2018, in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, to catch up with an interview scheduled for 2:pm on that day in a company located at the Central Business District of the Federal Capital Territory.

“With all the preparations I had made, the dream of securing my dream job as the sales executive with a company in Abuja became dashed on that day. When the vehicle I boarded got to a particular section of the decrepit Owo-Ikare road, we met about two lorries and a few cars which had already got stuck on the muddy highway.

“This made our journey, which had not been smooth from Owo, to be permanently stopped for the rest of the day because it took tow vehicle operators more than five hours to pull out all the stuck vehicles from the place.

“What made the matter worse was that the first two tow vehicles initially hired by the affected motorists lacked the capacity to pull out the stuck Kano-bound trucks until a bigger one was brought from Lokoja, Kogi State, to rescue them,” Jimoh said.

A trader who deals in vegetables and fruits, Alhja Modinat Alao, suffered a similar fate a week after Jimoh spent a whole day on the road and eventually lost the opportunity of securing his dream job in Abuja.

“The driver of the lorry conveying my vegetables and oranges to Abuja lost control of the vehicle while trying to dodge a big pot hole on the centre of the road and the vehicle fell, emptying the whole vegetables into the mud,” Alhaja Alao said.

The perceived endless suffering and supplication of the motorists and other traders plying the road recently caught the attention of Ondo State governor, Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), who on Monday, October 22, 2018, gave the approval at the state executive meeting that the deplorable road should be immediately rehabilitated to ease the discomfort of the users.

Less than 24 hours after the governor’s approval, contractors mobilized their equipment to the site, giving respite to the already worried users of the road. The productive man hours initially being lost due to the deplorable condition of the road is now gradually reducing.

The hope of plying a smooth Owo-Ikare road in no distant future excited not a few enthusiastic motorists and commuters who praised Governor Akeredolu for what they considered as a major intervention.

One of the commercial bus drivers plying the road, Mr. Johnson Oladehinde, who could not hide his elation when he saw contractors’ bulldozers and other equipment working on the road, hailed the state governor.

Oladeinde expressed the hope that the incessant fear of being kidnapped and forcefully robbed by criminals on the road would become a thing of the past.

“Beside the smooth ride that motorists are bound to enjoy on the road, I am sure kidnappers and other criminal element will have no business on the road,” he said.

Kehinde Ajibade, a final year student of University of Abuja, shared Oladehinde’s optimism, but urged the relevant agency of the state government to thoroughly supervise the contractors.

“With the intervention of the state governor, there is no doubt that many lives and businesses will be saved, But one thing that the state government should do is to thoroughly supervise the contractors,” Kehinde, who had, on no fewer than two occasions fallen victim of armed robbery attack on the road, said.

From all indications, it appears that the state government will not relent in its efforts aimed at fixing the deplorable road for the people’s comfort.

The Ondo State Commissioner for Infrastructure and Works, Mr. Taofeek Abdulsalam, said that because of the importance of the road, Governor Akeredolu’s administration would have embarked on its rehabilitation before now but had to wait for the Federal Government’s approval.

He said: “Just as the Oke Oka menace has now become a thing of the past, we want to assure our people that the Owo-Ikare road will be fixed for the comfort of motorists and other users in no distant future because ours is a responsible government.”

PoliticsOndo APC Pledges Allegiance To Governor Rotimi Akeredolu by ayfay047(op): 10:52am On Oct 26, 2018
A group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo state, Alliance Progressives Movement (APM) has declared that the party in the state is solidly behind Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN.

The group restated that APC is one in the state, adding that Engr. Ade Adetimehin led executive is the only legally recognized Exco in the state.

In a statement issued and signed by the group coordinator, Temitope Olanipekun said Governor Akeredolu's stand on the recent development in the party at the national level was duly supported by the party.

The group was reacting to a statement credited to one Idowu Otetubi who was referred to as the factional chairman of the party.

But, the APM disclosed that Otetubi is not a member of the APC and can not speak for the party. The group said its criminal for anyone to refer to him as a "factional" chairman of the APC in Ondo State.

"It's criminal to refer to a man who has never attended any NEC meeting, who does not occupy the party state's Secretariat and who was not sworn - in by the national Secretariat of the party as a chairman. To crown it all, this is a man who was known to be a strong member of the PDP and has not in any occasion decamped to the APC

"It's fast becoming a cliché by telling the world that there is no faction in Ondo APC. Our people are unanimous in their support for the Ade Adetimehin led executive. Our stand is one on the authenticity of Adetimehin

"This is very logical! There is one APC secretariat in Ondo state. Who occupies it? Adetimehin. Who attends NEC meeting? Adetimehin. Whose name is recognized at the national Secretariat of the party? Adetimehin.Who was sworn in as the Chairman of Ondo APC at the National Secretariat in Abuja? Adetimehin.

"Those who reasoned against these facts anchored on principles of validity are mere jesters. "The group said.

On the claim by Otetubi that Governor Akeredolu was fighting the national Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomole because of the mode of primary the state was directed to use, APM said Otetubi and his Co - travellers are political bootlickers who do not reason like intellectuals.

The group recalled that Governor Akeredolu openly declared the acceptance of the direct mode of primary in his October 1st,independence day speech.

"The governor has nothing to be scared of. He already, accepted that direct primary should be used in the state. He only expressed worry over the validity of the membership register that would be used for the election. That worry was justified

"The rabble rousers and their sponsors must understand that the decision to use indirect method of primaries was not Lord over the state by Governor Akeredolu but was agreed upon at a State Executive Committee (SEC) meeting which is the highest decision making organ of the party at the state level

"These agents of distabilization, must ask themselves why the national Secretariat had to change the lawful decision of the SEC and single - handedly imposed the indirect mode of primary on the party in the state?

"Governor Akeredolu provided the leadership for party memebrs in the state and prevailed over majority of our members who were bent on protesting the imposition of direct mode of primary

"If there is anything, Governor Akeredolu should be praised for accepting such unpopular move all for party loyalty and respect

"Those who also accused the governor of sponsoring attacks on the primary election day must cover their eyes in shame. It has been established long ago that some disgruntled elements are responsible for the spurious allegation of sponsored attacks

"This is to categorically state that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, is the leader of the APC in Ondo state and therefore, his decisions and opinions represent that of the party in the state." The group submitted.

The APM, however, urged memebrs of the public to disregard the statement credited to " one Idowu Otetubi ", describing him as a jester.
PoliticsRe: Buhari Support Group Accuses Three Governors Of Sabotage by ayfay047(op): 11:08am On Oct 25, 2018
A news report on the purported protest to the APC Secretariat, Abuja, organized by an opportunistic group in support of the Chairman of the APC, Mr Adams Oshiomole, contained in Guardian of the 23rd October, 2018, just caught the attention of the Ondo State Government.

The name of the Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi O. Akeredolu, SAN, was mentioned as the “leader” of the “Conservatives” bent on working against the reelection bid of President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, and the removal of Mr Oshiomole as the Chairman of the Party.

We would not have considered responding to this obvious mediocre contrivance by the embattled, consequent upon fraudulent acts, both perceived and real, predicated on misplaced obduracy. We believe that the good people of Ondo State, the primary constituency of the Governor, and the Presidency can see beyond the mendacious spin peddled through the hired louts.
In the said report, the Governor is accused of leading Governors of Ogun, Kaduna Adamawa and even Ekiti, whose helmsman just assumed the mantle of leadership just two weeks ago, against Mr Adams Oshiomole’s leadership. He is also accused of “demarketing” the President to the extent that he can barely get 10% of the votes in a general election in Ondo State. The Governor is equally upbraided for “moving around North and South to collect signatures” to force the Chairman to resign or be removed.
While we find this report laughable and somewhat distracting, it becomes pertinent that certain issues are clarified for the benefit of the good people of this country, particularly members of the All Progressives Congress. The Governor of Ondo State is a fiercely independent personality. He is not about to change his attitude to please any person or a group of persons. There is no truth in the whole contrivance. The Governor has been pre-occupied with matters of governance in Ondo State for which he was elected.

Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, is not a person who enjoys hiding behind a finger when an occasion demands that men and women of principle should stand against injustice. Mr Adams Oshiomole should recall the Governor’s insistence on the sanctity of his mandate stolen by the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, at a time when no hired rabble took interest in defending him. This happened when the Governor was the President of the Nigerian Bar Association. If Mr Oshiomole did not offer him any inducement for his principled stance, it is uncharitable for anyone to suggest that he can act, discreetly, in order to effect a desirable change.

Let no one also forget in a hurry the noble interventions of Aketi at critical moments in the cause of the progressives in the country. Unlike some exigent activists whose sordid deeds in their inglorious past seem obliterated by time, especially during the criminal annulment of the June 12 Presidential election won by Chief M.K.O Abiola, GCFR, this quintessential Bar activist has remained consistent till date. Beneficiaries of his altruistic interventions can attest to his character. Aketi is not in the same category as the current noisemakers whose whole existence exacts tremendous pressure on the people.

The Governor had expressed preference for someone else during the contest for the office of the Chairman of the Party. He did not hide his opposition to Mr Oshiomole’s aspiration for the simple reason that the leadership of a party, especially the one just emerging from a merger, should distance itself from egregious and inherently destructive narcissism. Recent events seem to justify this position as prescient. Only sycophants will fail to see the obvious. Mr President would not have expressed worries over the crises in the Party if everything had gone on smoothly.
The handlers of the mob strive in vain to set the President against certain government functionaries considered antagonistic to their pernicious scheme for dominance. Their devious plot to outsmart those perceived as opposing their expansionist tendency compelled them to take desperate measures.

Anyone endowed with an attitude of sobriety should have seen the need for calm. Rather than retrace their steps and display genuine contrition, their desperation pushes them to embrace measures capable of not only hurting the Party, but, regrettably, the President, whom they pretend to love so much.
It is ludicrous that anyone will consider a former President of the NBA, whose tenure was remarkable at a crucial period in the political history of the country, a conservative. Those who collected varying and humongous amounts as fees from aspirants during the last grandiose charade called primaries and submitted names dictated to them by a cabal, notorious for capturing political power for unbridled pillage, should be bold to explain their real motives to the people. they should be honest enough to deal with the issues.

Events, which took place across the country during the political charade, have exposed not only sheer incompetence on the part of the national leadership of the Party, but painfully, it has revealed a shocking proclivity towards banditry and impunity. It is becoming clear, increasingly, that party leadership at that level is seriously challenged in terms of capacity for serious engagements. Aketi does not need to move from “North to “South” to collect signatures from victims of electoral heist. Those who feel aggrieved reserve the right to demand that justice be done. If this includes the removal of Mr Oshiomole, so be it.

May we seize this opportunity to reiterate the fact that the people of Ondo State are favourably disposed to the second term bid of Mr President. Our people are unique; they are unwavering in their support for justice. They alone determine what is in their best interest at all times. The President is loved by the people of Ondo State.
All of us shall work, assiduously, for the President’s victory at the polls next year. We do not need any band of mendicants ready for hire to remind us of this sacred patriotic duty.

PoliticsOshiomhole Should Be Removed As APC Chairman - Akeredolu by ayfay047(op): 10:58am On Oct 25, 2018
Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu yesterday attacked All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman Adams Oshiomhole over the conduct of the party’s primaries.

There has been no love lost between the governor and the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) led by Oshiomhole since after the primaries.

Akeredolu wanted his prefered man to take over Ondo North Senatorial seat from Senator Robert Boroffice. But the NWC supported the continuation of the senator in office.

On Tuesday, one of the Buhari Support groups, accused Akeredolu of leading the conservative group plotting a vote of no confidence in Oshiomhole in addition to sabotaging the party.

But yesterday, Akeredolu, according to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties and Strategy Dr Doyin Odebowale, described the primaries as “political charade”, saying they not only exposed the “sheer incompetence” of APC’s national leadership, but revealed “a shocking proclivity towards banditry and impunity”.

Akeredolu said recent events justified his opposition to Oshiomhole’s choice as party chairman.

According to him, those who feel aggrieved reserve the right to demand justice, including calling for Oshiomhole’s removal.

The governor, however, restated his commitment to work “assiduously” for President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election, who he said is loved by the people of Ondo who see his re-election as a “patriotic duty”.

Akeredolu, who described organisers of the pro-Oshiomhole protest as “opportunists”, denied the allegation that he led governors of Ogun, Kaduna Adamawa and Ekiti states against Oshiomhole’s leadership.

”There is no truth in the whole contrivance. The governor has been pre-occupied with matters of governance in Ondo State for which he was elected,” the statement said.

Akeredolu recalled his “noble interventions” as Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) President at critical moments in the cause of the progressives, including in restoring Oshiomole’s stolen mandate.

He also denied moving from “north to south” collecting signatures against the national chairman.

Akeredolu added that if need be, he would work to getting Oshiomhole removed as chairman.

He added: ”Those who collected varying and humongous amounts as fees from aspirants during the last grandiose charade called primaries and submitted names dictated to them by a cabal, notorious for capturing political power for unbridled pillage, should be bold to explain their real motives to the people. They should be honest enough to deal with the issues.”

"Governor Akeredolu is yet to default in the payment of salary since the inception of his Administration. We have been paying as and when due.

"Out of the seven months inherited, we have been able to pay four months. I can tell you so far, since the inception of this Administration the State has expended N146 billion in the payment of salary.

" This tells you the percentage of total earnings that has gone into servicing this segment of the society. Therefore, we're surprised to hear that members of labour are agitating.

" I want to put it on record that the State has not received the Paris Club fund. We have heard series of rumours. I can say categorically that this fund has not been received. When received; it will be judiciously expended."

Ondo State is yet to receive its own share of the Paris Club refund disbursed by the Federal Government the State Commissioner for Finance, Mr Wale Akinterinwa has disclosed.

Wale Akinterinwa made the disclosure during the weekly press briefing coordinated by the Commissioner for Information, Yemi Olowolabi at the Cocoa Conference Hall of the Governor’s Office, Alagbaka, Akure on Monday, 22nd October, 2018. Mr Akinterinwa revealed that the State Government has expended more than N146 billion for payment of workers’ salaries since the inception of the Akeredolu-led Administration.

He expressed dismay over the agitation of workers, saying that the Administration of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has not defaulted in the payment of salary.

“Governor Akeredolu is yet to default in the payment of salary since the inception of his Administration. We have been paying as and when due.

“Out of the seven months inherited, we have been able to pay four months. I can tell you so far, since the inception of this Administration the State has expended N146 billion in the payment of salary.

” This tells you the percentage of total earnings that has gone into servicing this segment of the society. Therefore, we’re surprised to hear that members of labour are agitating.

” I want to put it on record that the State has not received the Paris Club fund. We have heard series of rumours. I can say categorically that this fund has not been received. When received; it will be judiciously expended
PoliticsCitadel Towers Debunks News Of Atiku Owning Solar Street Lights In Ondo State by ayfay047(op): 4:23pm On Oct 22, 2018
One of the top media centre in Ondo state, Citadel Towers, in a PRESS STATEMENT gave a detailed explanation to debunk the rumor going around.

Our attention has been drawn to a laughable insinuation making the round like a wild fire that the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar was responsible for some solar street lights in Okitipupa local government area, in the Southern Senatorial district of Ondo state.

This is to state, emphatically , that the former Vice President has no hand in the said solar street lights. It's on record that Atiku has left government when the solar street lights were put in place.

This clarification became necessary so as not to give a false impression that Atiku can lay claim to a project he knows nothing about in Ondo state.

The people of Ondo state are unique personalities. They do not enjoy pampering external actors who was part of the problem that has crippled the commercial activities of the southern senatorial district.

Throughout the tenure of the former President Goodluck Jonathan, a PDP man, the Southern Senatorial district of Ondo state was thrown into total darkness. For over 10 years now, the people had lived in darkness.

The Muhammadu Buhari administration through the intervention of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, an APC governor, has just mobilized the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) to the area to install damaged power installations and restore power to the southern Senatorial District of the state.

It's on record that the APC led Akeredolu government has also provided solar power to some homes in Igbobini and Igbotu to cushion the effect of total blackout in the area.

It is, however, worrisome that a Party / government (PDP) who looked away from the plight of the people is now busy spreading outright falsehood that its Presidential candidate facilitated or installed solar street lights in Okitipupa local government. We are just setting the record straight.

Signed

PoliticsRestructuring Of The Nigerian State: Implications For Development by ayfay047(op): 11:55am On Oct 18, 2018
The word “Structure” connotes the existence of some of edifice; a building, a design, a combination of pillars and columns erected to sustain an architectural masterpiece, beyond mere aesthetic artifices, an enduring legacy yielding allowance for emendation and/or adjustment of an existing order, a reasoned template for prognostication, among others.

The structure is a given; it deals with essence. The motion, cyclic or linear, within this form, is conditioned by contending forces, some organic, others necessary for the maintenance and sustenance of the Essence itself. Adjustment and adaptation to conditions, external and designed to achieve a pre-determined purpose, shape, to a large extent, its nature and character.

It is necessary in all facets of societal existence for optimum service delivery. It is important in the economy, politics and education of state. It is required in our social life. It must, however, not be understood as relevant only in politics. Restructuring must be periodic. It is a fact of life.

Apart from the demand for monetary compensation, the plaintiffs are asking the court for an order directing President Buhari to provide adequate and effective security and protection to all surviving victims and members of the affected communities in their ancestral homes and everywhere in Benue State.

The suit chronicled attacks by “armed herdsmen” in the state leading to the wanton destruction of lives and property including schools, hospitals, worship centres, markets and farmlands belonging to the various communities where the attacks took place.

The trial judge, Justice I. Ekwo ordered the substituted service of the court processes on the respondents through newspaper publication and fixed hearing October 24, 2018.
