This important thread, I'm afraid may not have lots of comments..

Op, if you change the topic to 'IGBO' or 'Biafra' then all the Yoruba Monikers on NL would gather like vultures on corpse to share their views on what's not..

Instead of you guys to cease the opportunity to educate Nigerians in what you think Yorubas would remember OBJ for, you are viewing and running away as if OBJ don't deserve to be remembered by Yorubas. .

Pls quote me.. !

Thank you.
Thanks... Personally, I know he did a lot. But we live in a society where if you don't benefit directly from good, then it amounts to nothing.

PoliticsWhat Will The Yorubas Remember Former President Olusegun Obasanjo For? by Ayomide93(op): 12:35pm On Jun 28, 2016
Bada Yusuf a columnist asked the question of what the Ex President would be remembered for in his open letter to the former military head of state and the first democratic president?
I remember when Olusegun Obasanjo came to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun-State earlier this year. I saw ''BABA IYABO'' as he was fondly call a very strong willed man who wouldn't lower his guards because you felt he was wrong. In his word he said we Nigerians would never appreciate any former head of State for the roles they played positively. He consistently blamed the past administration for the present state of the Nigeria economy. He likened former President Jonathan to the Prodigal son who never thought it well to go beg his father for forgiveness.
President Obasanjo never agreed for once that he was to be blamed for the present day Nigeria. He stated categorically that he tried his best for his country.
In my own humble Opinion, we saw the advent of true democracy in the time of OBJ. Despite him being the one who gave the National Assembly this monopoly of power, I still strongly believed baba was actually one of the heros of our present day democracy.
I never knew the late SAGE Obafemi Jeremiah Awololwo, but the Obasanjo I knew did a lot for this country and I certainly believed he neglected the Yorubas and concentrated more on the northerners, maybe because he believed they are the least developed geopolitical zone in Nigeria.

Attached is the piece from Bada Yusuf in his letter to the former head of state. http://akpraise.com/open-letter-what-will-yorubas-remember-obasanjo-for/

Again I ask, what would former President Olusegun Aremu Okikiola Obasanjo be remembered for by the Yorubas when he eventually go to the great beyond?

Too wise and if the op is comfortable like he claimed. Call the witch doctor, buy him a car simply and give him a good cash. Then the op should tell the wife to stop been paranoid. I believe no one would harm you without you providing a basis for them to. People don't just start hating on each other. If you hate me you will die, I would die. If you don't hate me, you will die and I would die also. Why not use the energy channeled into hating me for something more productive. My take!

My mother is capable of worse, the torture I had to go through and still go through by her hands, would make you weep. A woman that told the world i am a witch, took me from one spiritual home to another to prove my innocence, as exposed as i am,I obliged her. she got same response from them all, she's innocent. She explicitly told me she regrets ever birthing me and wish I would die and of all her children, I am the one she hates (I am the last child). No one else knows about this part of my life and this is my first time of sharing it...just to let you know you're not alone in the 'having a bad mother' category.
The good thing is, I don't let it keep me down, I cry...break down, dust it off, raise my shoulders high and move on.
Dear poster, I am going to tell you the exact thing I tell myself every time she goes out of her way to frustrate me..."This too shall pass".
I would love to know you ooo, just so we could deal with your mother together. Mbanu, why would you stop a child from leading his life the way he or she pleases for selfish reasons having lived yours!

So its probably true you have physical evidence to back your mum's wicked intentions (i.e. withe the call records and hwr actions). However what is not certain is the power/prowess of these diabolic means.

Do not be deterred with your realistic rationalisation... your wife's ill health and the unfortunate loss of your child are all medically though coincidental. Many have health issues and are triumphant and overcome them....you won't be the first or last. Dont be deterred or distracted but focus your energy and resources of overcoming the medical issues and emotional support for your wife.

Pastors ooh, mum ooh, jazz ooh....all naa lie. You could let your mum know you are aware of her antics and advise her al are futile, she can save herself all the wahala and then totally cut her off. There is no point adding bad vibes to the turmoil you guys are going through
You just hit the nail on the head dear. My advice to the Op is, after making her aware of all her antics and she still doesn't want the best for you, cut her off simply. And if you have enough evidence that she is responsible for your situation; physical evidences o, charge her to court and if you are someone like me who believes no mother or father should make decisions for me and stop me from living my life having lived theirs. Warn her seriously, if she doesn't desist, harm or kill her! Shikena! Forget all this spiritual nonsense. Just a coincident, but medically proven facts and issues!

I know is a taboo to many culture and traditions. But looking at it in other way round, it is right to date/marry a cousing?
I sure can marry my cousin if we are both in love. Since its not the same father or mother that gave birth to us. I once had a crush on one of my cousins before she travelled outside Nigeria. But this is Nigeria and I am Yoruba, if am thinking it she wouldn't even allow. They would term you as mentally retarded. But personally, I see nothing bad in marrying my cousin. No names calling please. My own humble opinion!

Nice experience! Though I must say u tried your best.
Yup I did, but we would have broken up sha cos the truth is I have seen a lot and truth be told, she is a good girl, nice, accommodating but she has attitude I resent, attitudes that are important to me. I looked passed all this things then when I loved her crazily but over time I discovered if we didn't talk about them, they are things that would break us. Like she doesn't believe in sex before marriage and that's not me.
I don't care who you are, if you say sex isn't a big determining factor in your relationship, you're a liar. Even for virgins.
So if waiting till when I get my acts together is all I need good. I want to be near perfect for whoever I am going to end up with. Cos marriage is one the the things I fear most.
It's one thing finding someone that can explore you but it's another thing finding someone who allows you to explore you."

Much respect to the guys who accept rejection from females & move on without spoiling her name.Y'all are the real MVPs"

Guys need to be spoiled too. I don't want your money. I want your time & affection. anything that you could buy me I can buy for myself.

Girls don't want the nice guy until the nice guy finds a girl who isn't stupid or the nice guy becomes an asshole."

There's too many opportunities, too many places, too many people in this world to be tripping on ONE situation, one person, just #MoveOn.

I don't get this generation, we take pride in the fact that ''I can cut anybody off'' what's there to be proud of in that you can't feel or show emotions?

The thing here is, does she really like u?

If you are sure of this, keep trying. But do not become overbearing or irritating. Call once a while to see how she's doing. Don't send her gifts just yet, she might think you are trying to buy her. Visit whenever you can but responsibly and don't forget those text messages. They actually work. What I am just saying is, be a friend.

Finally, impress her friends. No better way to get to a girls heart than that.
Lol. Good point. Let me tell a story of something that happened to me. I was a medical student for two years before I left to study economics(don't ask me why I left, but it wasn't because I failed though, lol). There is this pretty colleague of mine, we got along so well, she was sweet. We got pretty close when we stopped being colleagues sha. We visit and hang out so well. I loved her so much and when I say love, she was the only girl I ever truly loved. I told her my mind and she refused bluntly that she only loves me as a friend and I kept trying. Along the line we still got close, I could remember her birthday in 2014 I made a painting of her and gave her, she took me out two weeks later too to celebrate my own birthday.
Her 2015 birthday also, I was broke kinda but I still managed to make her a cake and bought her a wine and fortunately enough I got some money after that and gave her 15k to add to what I did before. On my birthday she came to my house cooked for me brought stuffs and I felt loved. Still I kept trying to make us a couple. She was so free that I could still some kisses sef, even touch her bum jokingly. We flirted but nothing happened. I knew 3 of her close friends and we got talking, I told them my mind and they said they would talk to her. Mid 2015 she started withdrawing, she doesn't even pick up calls again and reply text too. We were like this for 11months. We later got talking last april again and she was still her old sef. She said her friend actually spoke to her but they acted somehow in the course, those friends stopped picking my calls also.
It was hard getting over her cos I loved her truly. But had to at a time. I asked her just last week if she has someone now and she said yes. I had a feeling of lust, love and hatred all combined but I later sat down and thought about all of it. She doesn't deserve me really. You would ask why, she didn't see the best in me, she didn't believe in me, she claimed to love me but couldn't even date me cause of whatever her friends told her.
In the long run, I concluded, no matter how hard you try what is not yours would never be. Gladly I told my mom about this and her answer surprises me. She said she has study me so well and she saw that I am going to be a selfish lover and commitment for me is hard. She told me that even though I look after people I still resent them in a way and that maybe her friends saw that which she didn't and they warned her to leave. She later said irrespective of that, if she is truly yours, she would seek you herself eventually in a way that would marvel you. Since then, I have decided to be the best, make money and make myself worthy of any woman no matter her status.

Didn't mean slavery per se. I meant the idea of some men making it a point of duty for their wives to do their laundry and the idea of some women doing laundry just to win a man's heart. If you like do all of those, if he man doesn't want you he would use you and still dump you.

I decided to contribute to this post having seen so many comments.
1. The idea of guys been polygamous is a very wrong notion. Personally I am not polygamous. I am a one man one woman person.
2. The act of guys cheating even when they have all they want in their partner is inevitable. Let me give an example. As christians we all love God but often time we sin, that's us cheating on him. When guys cheat simply it is physical, it might probably be to boost their ego, boost their control over the women folks or probably to boast among their friends so they won't be ridiculed.
3. The issue of money and some guys been scared of their women more comfortable than them. Personally I don't know why some guys think a confident, self assured woman is a turn off. I would always want my woman to elevate me in the positive ways.
4. I decided personally that no matter how rich my partner is when I get committed, I would always pay you a salary for your upkeep, though it might be small but yes I would pay my part. I took you from your parents because I felt I can take care of you, when then should I not play that role. So earn *2 of what I earn, I would still pay you salary.
5. The issue of sex again. Personally I believe in intimacy sex. If you can give me a good Mouth Gig then I should be able to eat you out there so well. I believe a normal penetrative sex shouldn't be more than 5-7minutes. The fore play and the intimacy is the sexual stimulation. That is even enough sexual satisfaction to me.
6. As for guys being nice or doing a lot of calling when asking a lady out. I do that often personally because I believe communication is key but I learnt my lesson the hard way because I pushed my one true love away due to that. It became stalking at a time. Sometimes in relationship I believe we need space, space to do our own thinking without our partner interfering.
7. Personally I don't like excessive. I don't love the busty and big yanshed woman. Just me moderate and above all be very intelligent. Your intelligence is what I need, not you cooking my food or doing styles in bed. And the idea of you washing my cloth is a no no for me. You are not my slave.
For any relationship to work, communication and time is key and money is very very important. I say again important, if not now later, responsibilities needs money and as a man it is my duty to provide for my partner and my family, that's what makes me a man. Thank you.

However, for the sections I highlighted, I think with time, you will change your thoughts and perceptions.
Well, I have seen a lot bro and I use my brother's marriage and parents marriage to judge. I have friends who are hopelessly in love also and they hardly don't show it. I can tell you that this things won't change. I have made up my mind, I only pray that God should give me the strength to be a good husband, father and stay committed to my family and that God should increase me in every way and bless me with money to take care of all of my family needs without me complaining.

There was this issue of commitment. I don't know if it was here I saw it or the other thread. I am not scared of commitments personally. The only thing have ever been scared of is marriage. And even up till now I am still so scared. But as men, I don't believe we should be scared of commitment, we are scared mainly cos commitment involves you not cheating again, you looking out for your partner and you sharing you and all of you with your partner. I think commitment is deep and it scares the shit out of us.
