Rossikk: So we can only have one thread on Ojukwu and no more? Do we have only one thread on GEJ or on Buhari or on any other person or subject? You see, it is people like you that make one question the intelligence of so many Nigerians. Here you are blatantly justifying the unjustifiable, and tomorrow you'll blame govt for doing this and that. It is clear you have no concept of truth and justice, or you would put aside your bias and criticise OAM4J for deleting that thread and banning the the person who opened it. Even guys like Demdem who never agree with me have come out and stated that the mod was wrong by that action. Even a ten year old can see that what the guy did was wrong, how much less a full-grown adult like you. Shame.
Rossike, we can agree to disagree agreeably. Don't attack me but my post. The thing is, we have held on to the civil war stories too long on this section. And ofcourse we know the end. Igbo Vs Yoruba. As I post this, one guy has created an Ojukwu blah blah blah post. Its getting out of hand. That guy OAM4J is one hardworking dudeB Please save the dunce for another mod.

Anyway, I know a forum where u must earn some 'reputation' before u're allowed to post. And, they could strip u off the reputation if you dare talk to the mod anyhow. If u're angry, u'd rather complain on the 'complaints' thread, not creating another thread calling him a dunce.

Now that your ban has been lifted, let's move on. wink

Billyonaire: All MODs should continue banning anyone who promotes tribalism including my humble self. It is the only way to reposition us on the course of politics of policies not politics of tribalism. This is a good start.
Billy the Pooh, I agree with this post of yours. Plus Rossike also has Rossikk. One was banned and he almost immediately switched to second one. Abi now. Two can play the game.

No mod has ever satisfied NLers. U opened the thread calling him a dunce yet, he didn't ban u. If na another mod, he go delete this thread and ban the OP again. There's already one Ojukwu thread, go and ask ur questions on there. Creating a new thread will definitely fan the embers of tribalism that Ivywna has been trying to stop.

Bless the Mod!

Funny how folks are quick to post Western reports and prints when they report about the development going on in the country but get bashed when they report on the massive corruption in this administration. Very comical!

For the records, GEJ will not be forgotten for these two achievements,
1) Electoral reforms
2) Transportation (rail and roads).

But if corruption still lurks in his loins like we have it now, it won't take a year before these good achievements get drained to the dregs.

A simple question deserves also simpler question. When Yar'adua proposed amnesty for Niger Delta militants, was he sponsoring them? Was he their sponsor?

Atleast, if you wanna call APC the sponsors of Boko Haram, you must bring proofs.

State your points with facts and let's see if truly PDP is behind Boko Haram or APC.

All this "we already know its Buhari" syndrome is unacceptable because he has never been indicted or linked to them.

HOW CAN THIS BE PROVEN?

in sincerity if ur answer is PDP then u are actually not just high, but high on DRY FEASES.
Your misleading APC gangstars are fake progressive. use your head. they are BOKO HARAM
Folks are always quick to point fingers at Buhari/Tinubu, without, for the sake of posterity, taking a cursory look at how events have unfolded on the political scene.

Four Reality checks:

1) Late Gen Azazi said at the South-south conference, which had both PDP and APC members in attendance, that PDP is Boko Haram and that Boko Haram is PDP. Where is Gen Azazi today? He died in the helicopter crash that conveyed him from Orubebe, a PDP member, father's burial ceremony. A report later came out that the helicopter crash was caused by human error. Who killed Azazi? Who?

2) Senator Ali Ndume, a PDP member was said to be caught 'hosting' Boko Haram members. Yet, he's still walking around without any restriction like a famous philanthropist.

3) In 2011, Atiku categorically said that he would make Nigerian "un-governable" for the present administration. Yet, the government turned a blind eye on him because of his 'almost-dead' political career, which ofcourse is not a threat to this administration's political ambition in 2015.

4) GEJ said not so long ago, that members of Boko Haram are among top government officials, even among the military. This statement by Mr President sends a clear message that he knows who these guys are. The ones caught like Ndume have not been prosecuted.

Who is deceiving who? After painting Buhari red, they now called on him to 'dialogue' with Boko Haram. Just like they called Ribadu to carry out an investigation on the subsidy scam, only to rubbish the report afterall. Who does that?

Time will tell.

learner1: I just killed my account cause of my recklessness and some signals posted here today. Account down by 90%. very bad
Good that you know its recklessness. Read this and digest it. Before trading signals at all, start with your socio-emotional being. Substitute 'impatient' and 'impulsive' with 'recklessness' in Naijababe's post. The theme might not be in line with your loss, but just change its theme.

naijababe: There's no right or wrong way to trade. Just know yourself and work on YOU!

I am naturally an impulsive and tempestuous person but I always want freedom and I don't like feeling cheated. If I take a position and make 20 pips out of a 200 pips move I feel grossly cheated, however, my impatience make me close the position within 20 pips because the market is not impulsive like me. So what I desire is in conflict with my nature. My natural disposition should be towards scalping but I also know that the other side of my nature will make me over trade.
My desire points me in the direction of being a swing trader but my nature makes me close positions early because the market is not impulsive like me, it will do what it wants to do!

So the way out for me is to pick my desire over my natural disposition because I think what a man desires will always overcome their nature, therefore, I had to work on getting a convergence of both my desire and nature.

Outside of the market place, I work on my impatient nature, I take things easy! I make a conscious decision to work on my temper, I bite my tongue when I want to rant at people. I shout into my pillow sometimes and I stand in my bathroom and take a dig at whoever or whatever in front of a mirror and most of all I learned to meditate.

Y'all will ask what all of these has to do with trading?!

Well, trading is the only thing that will make you confront who you really are because it will accentuate all your good and bad habits. If you really want to succeed, you will have to confront and overcome yourself. It will be easier for some than others but it's your determination and commitment to your own success that will make you overcome YOURSELF.

We all like to think we are committed to our own success but we really aren't ?! Think about that folks.

For instance, the EU pair is clearly on a downtrend, why advise people who know little or nothing about scalping to go against the trend? Even if there's any major retracement on this pair, a good signal should seek to SELL when such retracements occurred...except for scalping, on no account should we think of buying that pair for now.

look at yesterday candle on EU daily chart; that is clearly a continuation pattern for the downtrend, for safe trading, we should only seek to sell from any pull back.

I have been selling this pair since 1.3555 and now have about 10 open positions and i'm still looking forward to more selling.

Your Eminence:

October 1 2010 Bomb Blast Setup and Government Double Standard

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, and I hope this letter meets you well. The reasons I choose to direct this letter to you are that I am a Catholic and you are an old boy of my alma mater, St. Gregory’s College, Lagos.

I write from Kuje Prison Abuja where two other Catholics and I have been languishing in solitary confinement for 2 years on trumped-up charges relating to the October 1, 2010 bomb attack claimed by the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND).

My name is Charles Tonbra Okah, aka Billy Bones. On October 16, 2010 my residence in Apapa GRA was invaded by operatives of the State Security Services on the warrant that I was the suspected spokesman for MEND using the pseudonym “Jomo Gbomo.” My eldest son, visiting from the United States where he attends the University of Kansas (KU) was also arrested.

At the SSS Headquarters Abuja where we were flown to blindfolded with our legs and hands bound, my ‘cooperation’ was solicited for something completely different to my surprise. My captors threw me a lifeline; offering me our freedom and a lucrative contract in exchange for false testimony against my younger brother Henry, who is resident in South Africa. I was to write a false statement claiming to have been told by Henry about the bomb plot and naming the following persons as his conspirators: Former Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, Mallam Nasir El Rufai, Chief Timipre Sylva, and Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan. I bluntly refused.

To maintain pressure on me, I was told that my son would be implicated in the bomb matter, my containers of legitimate imports then at the Tin Can Port would be impounded and my business destroyed. I still did not budge, tossing their lifeline back with royal disdain.

When they realized I was not going to connive in their scheme, they became formal and reverted to the main reason for my arrest. I was asked for the MEND password which I told them I did not know. They bound me in a chair, took off my trousers and clamped a device to my joystick. My legs were then put inside a basin of water. The device when turned on passed a high voltage of electricity to my body and I lost consciousness. This was on Monday October 18 at about 6pm. When I regained consciousness, I discovered I was at the National Hospital emergency room. I remember the doctors asking why I had trauma marks on my chest where the SSS doctor performed Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). The SSS operatives were evasive in answering questions at the hospital. That night I was released and taken to rest for the night at the State House Clinic. That was the last time a torture was carried out on me.

My son was eventually released after Mr. Femi Falana visited in the company of my wife after a month of being denied access to a lawyer. However, my containers have been impounded up to date and my bank account frozen.

The SSS stopped asking about the MEND password after Jomo Gbomo made another statement while I was in their custody but refused to still let me go because I did not cooperate earlier with them. Meanwhile in the ongoing trial in South Africa, Henry is accused of being the same Jomo Gbomo by the same people who say I am JG.

Double Standard in Kuje Prison:

On December 24, 2010 we were remanded in Kuje prison as a result of our application to be removed from the SSS detention cell. Unknown to us, the SSS passed instructions from “above” to the prison authorities to carry out “special treatment” in order to stampede us into a trial towards conviction. For 2 years we have been locked up in solitary confinement, are not allowed to exercise or get sunlight outside and are forced to sleep on the floor when bunk beds are available. Even a court order by Justice Gabriel Kolawole to the prison for a change in our confinement style was ignored after it was superseded by an ‘order from above.”

In late 2011, while locked up inside our cell block, prison officials clothed in protective apparel, face masks and gloves carried out fumigation without opening us to wait outside. Our protests fell on deaf ears and by the time they were finished we were in distress. The Youth Corper doctor on call tried her best within her limits to the emergency she was confronted with. The poisonous gas and barbaric action reminiscent of the Nazi concentration camp infamous gas chambers, eventually led to the death of one Francis Osuwo, aka Gboko, also roped into this case by the SSS and a man I have never met before. Interestingly, the four persons in detention were strangers to each other except for one Obi Nwabueze who is a family friend and close associate of Henry.

The fumigant whose chemical constituent were never relayed to us have affected my neurological system and I have been on a daily prescription of strong neurological medication prescribed by a neurologist of the National Hospital, Professor Bwala.

While the Boko Haram suspects at Kuje prison are allowed to worship in the prison mosque, we have never set foot in the prison chapel. They are also enjoying privileges such as cable television, radio, liberty to move within the prison walls, bunk beds to sleep on and phone calls to their families. We are denied all of the above.
When I asked the current Controller of FCT Command the reason for the disparity, he said “the fear of Boko Haram is the beginning of wisdom.” He further said the Moslem community was concerned about their welfare in custody.

Double Standard in the Court:

Even in the Courts where justice is supposed to be blind, the double standard is glaring. While Senator Ndume, accused of being a financier to Boko Haram was given bail by the same Judge presiding over our case, we have been denied bail.

I understand that this Senator was permitted by the same court to travel on his religious obligation to Mecca for the lesser Hajj while we are refused from attending mass in a chapel less than 50 meters from our cell block.

The court is willing to permit the Senator approval to travel abroad for his medical check if he can provide proof that such check up is not done locally. Meanwhile, I have been denied my application to go on a compulsory checkup which in my case is mandatory for a kidney donor, having donated my left kidney to my mother 30 years ago.

Our cases have been adjourned repeatedly for cruelly long durations. The last time I appeared in court was March 2012 and the next adjourned date is January 31. 2013, that is if that date will not be shifted again under a flimsy excuse.

All we ask is for a free and fair justice from an independent Judiciary that should release us instead of holding us as scapegoats over an obvious power show. While this government continues holding us hostage, our families are becoming destitute.

Our rights to freely worship as Catholics is being infringed by the state who have more respect for Islam when all religions should be treated equally.

Double Standards in the Polity:

The National Security Adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki (rtd.) was quoted as saying that the government of President Goodluck Jonathan has the phone numbers of suspected Boko Haram sponsors. Later the Inspector General of Police said certain individuals had been put on a “watch list” as suspected Boko Haram sponsors.

Now the big question is why did the government not simply have our phone numbers and put us also on its ‘watch list” while we move about freely? They did not hesitate to arrest us, clamp us on trumped-up charges and detain us on flimsy excuses. They did not merely talk, they took action even in South Africa where my brother was arrested since 2010. Is there a better word to describe this other than hypocrisy?

The same government eager to negotiate with Boko Haram who claimed responsibility for over 100 attacks where Catholics have suffered the brunt, have refused to negotiate with MEND and continue to delude themselves that all is well.

Why would this government expect Boko Haram to unmask it leaders and negotiate when they can see that perceived leaders and supporters of MEND are being persecuted and jailed?

I welcome a fact-finding visit from the Church in the company of credible Human Rights groups to verify our allegations.

On the two occasions Kuje Prison was visited by the Bishop of Abuja during the Christmas of 2010 and 2011, he was surreptitiously steered away from where were we are held hostage and I believe he has no idea of what is going in inside Kuje prison.

Our prayers is that leaders of our Churches will be more sensitive and proactive in politics of the land that touches the lifes of their followers and not leave delicate issues solely in the hands of corrupt and selfish politicians, and majority of the population rid of a “Potiphar” mentality who believe lies when told by SSS.

May God save our beloved country.

Yours Sincerely,

The money is there, just waiting for clever new moves, said 17-year-old Nick D’Aloisio, who can point to a roster of early backers for his Summly app that includes Yoko Ono and Rupert Murdoch.

“If you have a good idea, or you think there’s a gap in the market, just go out and launch it, because there are investors across the world right now looking for companies to invest in,” he said in a telephone interview late Monday.

The terms of the sale, four months after Summly was launched for the iPhone, have not been disclosed, and D’Aloisio, who is studying for school exams while joining Yahoo as its youngest employee, was not saying. But technology blog AllThingsD said Yahoo paid roughly $30 million.

D’Aloisio said he was the majority owner of Summly and would now invest the money from the sale, though his age imposes legal limits for now on his access to it.

“I’m happy with that and working with my parents to go through that whole process,” he said.

D’Aloisio, who lives in the prosperous London suburb of Wimbledon, highlights the support of his family and school, which gave him time off, but also, critically, the ideas that came with enthusiastic financial backers.

He had first dreamed up the mobile software while studying for a history exam two years ago, going on to create a prototype of the app that distills news stories into chunks of text readable on small smartphone screens.

He was inspired, he said, by the frustrating experience of trawling through Google searches and separate Web sites to find information when studying for the test.

Trimit was an early version of the app, which is powered by an algorithm that automatically boils down articles to about 400 characters. It caught the eye of Horizons Ventures, a venture capital firm owned by Hong Kong billionaire Li Ka-shing, which put in $250,000.

That investment attracted other celebrity backers, among them actor Ashton Kutcher; British broadcaster Stephen Fry; Ono, the widow of Beatle John Lennon; and News Corp. media mogul Murdoch.

Although he has created an app worth millions, D’Aloisio said he is not a stereotyped computer geek.

“I like playing sport,” he said. “I’m a bit of a design enthusiast, and like spending time with my girlfriend and mates.”

Funny how anybody who criticises this government becomes an object of name-calling and unwarranted hate.

Keep it up.

Great words!

The country needs a holistic re-structuring. From the president that spends N3bn on food yearly to Honourables/Senators that receive £2000 per local trip.

Great words from him.

Its pathetic when folks consider anyone who challenges the status quo to be an opposition or a paid critic.

Read my post about what I wrote on Fashola. I'll forever discuss issues, not people, until people really act like they are being voted into power.

GEJ will not be the president forever, he will come and go but his deeds and legacy will remain. Its up to him to write his own history. Plus, not everybody is a "caption or frontpage" nigerian, who only relies solely on newspaper captions and reports. Some people subscribe to journals and terminals that give in-depth analysis on a particular subject in accordance to what happens on the street.

So please let's learn to live with criticism whether they be hot or cold.

bright007: Just one good kwession:How does this stable economy of Nigeria affect the price of garri in the market?
It does affect the price of garri because when there are more investors in a country, more people have jobs and get paid which causes inflation. More people demand for garri and are able to pay for it. The higher the demand; the higher the price.

FSU: Ngozi is not the President. She was hired to deliver for the President and she is doing so. Ignorance, myopia and half-bakedness will kill you Yaribas.
Wole Soyinka said this generation is already dead on arrival. Now, I'm beginning to relate to what he said. This post just asserted his words.

The last thing I'd do on this enlightening thread is invest my ego into tribal origin and name-calling.

solomon111: was it Buhari that appointed iweala?
If NOI were involved in money laundering today, would GEJ not be held responsible?
You want to seperate GEJ from his team?
You are very dishonest,no wonder you can't see the reforms.
That's the problem with you irrevocably tribalistic folks. Just give me an answer. You'd rather stick to name-calling and all.

"Buhari-Tinubu loses bid...". Not even about APC anymore, its about Buhari-Tinubu.
Somany PDP-paid journalist these days. Not a single day goes without a news to kill the newly-formed party.

We are just some 2years to the election. Too early for these PDP-paid reporters to play mind games with nigerians who desire change.

Sunny_bobo: With all due respect, your comment above shows that you are not conversant with a whole lot of reforms going on in Nigeria now. Though the reforms are being spearheaded by Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, GEJ as the president will take the glory as the buck stops at his table.

I've always told my friends that I'll vote for any candidate that will maintain Ngozi Iweala in her current position.
I thought u said GEJ. Now its Iweala.

Anyway, I wouldn't mind if u'd open my eyes to those reforms. I wanna really wanna know.

With all due respect too. wink

Sunny_bobo: GEJ is working silently and haters are talking.

Waiting for the APC BB crew.
Before GEJ even came to power, as at 2008, economist already have forecast that our economy would boom because Europe aint an attractive destination anymore.

GEJ is just one lucky president who, if really passionate about nigeria, should use this boom as an opportunity to regulate the labour industry and ensure nigerians enjoy this moment. A country with $400billion GDP. SMH.

Sky-walker:
really? Is Nigeria's Economy that stable?
Relatively stable. Plus our GDP has been moving up the curve since the global financial crises. Same with Zambia and Botswana. Investors top-choice cities are Lagos and Nairobi.

The crux of the matter is that poor regulation and corruption has prevented these economic boom from changing peoples life.

An investor could make a direct investment like a factory, would pay nigerians peanut while his 'brothers' earn six times what nigerians earn because they are 'supervisors' in that department.

The saddest thing is that chinese are competing with locals on the same product. A nigerian sells a locally-made candle for 20naira while a chinese would import candles from China and sell the same for 15naira in Balogun market! Just imagine the free-hand foreigners have in this country, which is not permitted in theirs. In Dubai for instance, if u're a foreign investor, a local must be a member of the board of directors and he's entitled to 15% of your total profit.

We need to re-structure the labour laws for nigerians to really enjoy these economic boom.

***No quote me wrong o, I no talk say your investment for Cyprus dey risky or not o.
Lol. Regulation in Cyprus is not strict plus the russian 'dirty' money. Same with Mauritius.

Had to empty all my equity cos once bitten, twice shy. I think these brokers in Europe could eff-up anytime, except UK I guess.

Will be back trading by April.

Bonjour,

If your broker operates in Cyprus, send a withdrawal mail to your account manager to test the waters if they'd process your withdrawal, because 40% tax on savings above €100,000 would definitely affect those brokers.

I processed a withdrawal last Monday and I just got credited this morning. On a normal day, it takes three days. 'Massively-massive' capital flight from Cyprus today.

Have a great day.

PoliticsRe: Why Is There So Much Ethnic Rivalry On Nairaland? by ayox2003:
HNosegbe: @ OP,

Nairaland is a microcosm of Nigeria. Whatever ethnic rivalries you see here are reflective of the state of affairs in the larger country.

Nigeria is a country full of faultlines. Ethnic nationalities who have been apart for thousands of years (and are as different as night and day) have been merged together for the past 99 years.

99 years is a short time, historically speaking.

It will take several more decades to deal with our ethnic and foundational differences and learn to live together as one nation. Until that happens, don't expect Yorubas, Hausas and Igbos to get all cuddly beccause they have been lumped together in a British experiment.

That's the unfortunate truth.
No. The ethnic rivalries are not really reflective of what goes down in Nigeria. Yes some Igbos/Yorubas on the street act quite silly once in a while but not as frequent as those folks who trade words on here.

Igbos and Yorubas live peacefully, do business and are involved in inter-tribal marriages almost every weekend. The few folks that attack themselves on here are probably 'catching trips' or frustrated mouks that are embittered by stories of the civil war or for reasons known to them. undecided

If Nairaland were a reflection of Nigeria, Aleshinloye in Ibadan or Ladipo in Lagos would have ceased to exist by now. Yet those markets are booming by the minute because of the strong cooperation of Igbos and Yorubas.

Like a view at the Religion section would make you think Nigeria has a good number of Atheist. Iro nla (big lie). Before you'd meet an Atheist in the real sense of it, even in a populated city like Lagos, you'd spend days.

I'm not at all moved by those tribal 'warriors', most of them are nigerians in diaspora anyway.
