I strongly belive what you say, but the problem here is nothing but Islam.

Islam is like a political ideology that destroys people's cultural beliefs and make them see their religion as their primary identity...... Although, there is a moderate kind of islam which also values culture.....

However, majority of the Hausas and about half of the middlebelt muslims practice the former kind of islam. So, it would be practically impossible to liberate these kind of people who have been completely brainwashed by religion.

I was an administrator and leader in the largest online middlebelt group, and you need to see how so many middlebelt muslims from Kwara, Niger and even Kogi & Nasarawa reject the middlebelt idea and are full Arewa apologist and pro-caliphate.
These people are the ones who have and who will always sabotage any efforts made by the middlebelt. They prefer to have a common arewa identity on the basis of islam with hausa-fulanis. So, currently, I no longer believe in a united middlebelt struggle with these people. Those of us who are anti-caliphate, we need to find another identity and struggle to pursue.

I was in a Nupe online group one time and you need to see the way these Nupe muslims were arguing with themselves. Some were saying that there is no need for tribal names anymore, that tribal names are of pagan origin and only islamic names are right. ....Some were against it though. ......Although, the situation of Nupe and other middlebelt muslims is not as worse as that of Hausa muslims, cos hardly will you find a hausa muslim who believes in tribal names, but many Nupe muslims still believe in tribal names. ......But for the fact that arguing against tribal names was even a subject of contention, this shows you how far this pro caliphate mentality has eaten into middlebelt muslims. At least half of them are pro-caliphate. The remaining ones who are not necessarily pro-caliphate, however remain quite apologetic to the caliphate just like yoruba muslims and see no need for a unique middlebellt identity. The liberal middlebelt muslims who manage to believe in a middlebelt identity do not believe that our middlebelt identity should be anti-arewa.

So, just forget it. Only through a full scale war can Hausa land ever be redeemed. Cos even the middlebelt has lost Niger state (where most of them are almost no different and are led by Fulani muslims).

If we from Benue, Plateau, Taraba, FCT, Nasarawa and Southern Kaduna and parts of Adamawa come together and completely liberate ourselves from Arewa grip, the only people we can further liberate are parts of Adamawa and Southern Borno and perhaps southern kebbi and Niger state (Kainji axis) who are christian majority, but are still under fulani grip. .... .

Any group of people who are predominantly muslims are a lost case. Unless the resistance will start from within, it would be deemed as a full scale invasion/war.
U are getting it all wrong here, how can d problem b Islam, that that some persons decide to practice a certain religion in a certain way is obviously their choice. As mch as I know my grand parents never ceased to tell me d history of some certain places in Ilorin, d rich culture of Ilorin, d fading ones etc. From all that I've learnt, I dnt see anyway d Ilorin culture is or was related to d core Yoruba culture. The identity of a core Yoruba man is still similar to that of d Hausa/Fulani, d u knw why because majority of d family houses in Ilorin migrated from the Northern side to settle in Ilorin. and as I've heard (not read) as at when Afonja was d Oba of Ilorin, Ilorin was a very small city where travellers come for bussiness purposes(i.e just like a meeting point for different buyers n sellers) , as at that time it only has 7 or 8 households ( can't remember d exact amount) every other persons are travellers either selling or buying. Even d Afonja who was d Oba was imposed by d Alafin of Oyo (as I was told) and he only come to Ilorin to rest after a successful war, collect d taxes n return back to war or to Oyo.

That is the problem. Majority of the Ilorin yorubas have been heavily mixed with people of fulani, nupe & hausa origin, hence they are very sympathetic to Arewa identity and are pro-caliphate. Liberating Ilorin would be almost impossible.
Let us not forget that Moro LGA which is under Ilorin emirate too is predominantly Nupe and Yoruba/Nupe mixed people. Ilorin is just too mixed. Yorubaness has been heavily diluted. And the issue of islamic bond is not helping matters.
U've just said it all

How can pure Yoruba be few in Ilorin when Ilorin was originally a pure Yoruba village?
Majority of Ilorin indigene are pure Yoruba while majority of her elite are hybrid Yoruba-Nupe-fulani-hausa.

In terms or heritage, Tue largest group are Yoruba, followed by Nupe, then borqu people of kebbi, then Fulani, then very small Hausa.

Looking at the location of Ilorin you will know that it will be easier for immigration from Yoruba heartland than immigration from far away kano, sokoto etc. The Oyo's are a majority in Ilorin
Are you from Ilorin or d u have a very close person from Ilorin

U got it.... Seriously d people clamouring for this oba and believe the story he just told are very few , majority of Ilorin peeps are OK with the rich Fulani culture Ilorin is famous. I dnt think there is a lineage in Ilorin that doesn't have any connection with a particular North East village or town and that's is why we still have some persons refers to as Alhaji Sokoto, Iya Kano etc in every household and most households still have family members in those aforementioned areas

You're daft. Religious correctness is a mere charade, a tool to corrupt the tribal identity of the people just as the case of Hausa/Fulani bullshit. A Yoruba is a Yoruba while a Fulani is a Fulani no matter the religion.

So u think, ask any person who is from Ilorin, I dnt mean people staying in Ilorin, I mean d real indigene of Ilorin what their origin was, then u will understand that speaking Yoruba as a language doesn't mke us Yorubas

Those ones are fulanis or partly fulanis or hausas or nupe by ancestry. Don't be deceived by the fact that they speak yoruba or have yoruba names. They are bot of yoruba origin.
The pure yorubas of Afonja lineage will never claim to be fulani or accept the tag
Exactly, But those pure Yorubas are minority in Ilorin, majority of people in Ilorin have either Fulani, Hausa or Nupe lineage.

Saraki is the major stumbling block, if he dies, the alliance of Fulani to Ilorin dies.

see this mumu..... An average Ilorin man will prefer to b addressed as a Fulani man than being addressed as a Yoruba man.... So dnt just come n open ur mouth on NL

Islam for Muslims / Re: OAU Professor Durosinmi Writes On Muslim Students In Hijab by ayoxelee(m): 3:24pm On Dec 29, 2017
Rashield8:
I've noticed, and I'm seriously concerned that there's a rise in the number of Muslims in the South West with extremist views and tendencies. My observation is not only in reference to this hijab issue, but also as a result of what I've observed in recent times.

In our Yorubaland, there's an unwritten rule that we are brothers and sisters-regardless of religion. For instance, there's an equal proportion of Muslims, Christians and pagans in my family and town. Yet, we all live together in extreme harmony.

But it appears that there's a growing number of people who are trying to replicate the Northern ethnically jaundiced 'brand' of Islam in Yorubaland. I will try and open a thread about this before the end of the year.

....
Regarding the Law school hijab issue, my position is that Firdaus erred. Call me whatever, I don't care! Doesn't Islam say we should obey the laws of the land? I know that you may want to argue that one is allowed to disobey if it violates God's law. But the question is: is it haram not to wear hijab? The basic answer is that nobody can say with certainty that not wearing hijab is a sin. I repeat-Nobody! In fact, hijab has so much to do with culture & the Arab tradition than the religion itself!

The sister just wants to be an overnight activist. The law school is governed by laws and rules which everyone-regardless of religion must follow. If she had been allowed, Sango worshippers must also be allowed to plait their hairs while Catholic nuns and priests can't be stopped from wearing their garments to the Call to Bar ceremony. What is good for the goose is good for the gander!

Let's stop all these extremist views joor! The sister can freely wear her hijab in Sharia courts. Nobody will disturb her there.

Seriously, Niggar u have no knowledge about ur religion, I'm a Muslim and a Yoruba but the term #hausamuslim is a non existence to me. Allah never commanded us to follow sect, have u ever asked ur self why u are a Muslim why some certain act of religion are practiced, why some are neglected. like I've said go get knowledge about ur religion, dnt b a Muslim because u are born to b, b a Muslim because u choosed to b. FYI, hijab isn't an Arab culture and it's a very sinful act for any lady to step out wtout it.

All Nigerians should ignore this rubbish message meant to rile some people up.

The guy spoilt his message by saying they are Muslims but not terrorists. Who said they are terrorists? Is he having guilty conscience?

However, I doubt that this really happened because nobody can bar a Muslim from call to bar in Buhari’s Nigeria. The Muslims are having it good under Buhari so who would dare deny that hijabi from being called to bar?
