Agriculture / Farmpally.com On Impacts Of Nanotechnology On Crop Production & Yield Increase by ayufun: 7:29am On Jan 14, 2019
The application of nanomaterials in agriculture aims in particular to reduce applications of plant protection products, minimize nutrient losses in fertilization, and increase yields through optimized nutrient management.Despite these potential advantages, the agricultural sector is still comparably marginal and has not yet made it to the market to any larger extent in comparison with other sectors of nanotechnology application.

Nanotechnology Devices
Nanotechnology devices and tools, like nanocapsules, nanoparticles and even viral capsids, are examples of uses for the detection and treatment of diseases, the enhancement of nutrients absorption by plants, the delivery of active ingredients to specific sites and water treatment processes. The use of target-specific nanoparticles can reduce the damage to non-target plant tissues and the amount of chemicals released into the environment. Nanotechnology derived devices are also explored in the field of plant breeding and genetic transformation.

Advantages of Nanotechnology Devices on Farming
The potential of nanotechnology in agriculture is large, but a few issues are still to be addressed, such as increasing the scale of production processes and lowering costs, as well as risk assessment issues.

In this respect, particularly attractive are nanoparticles derived from biopolymers such as proteins and carbohydrates with low impact on human health and the environment.

For instance, the potential of starch-based nanoparticles as nontoxic and sustainable delivery systems for agrochemicals and biostimulants is being extensively investigated.Nanomaterials and nanostructures with unique chemical, physical, and mechanical properties – e.g. electrochemically active carbon nanotubes, nanofibers and fullerenes – have been recently developed and applied for highly sensitive bio-chemical sensors.

These nanosensors have also relevant implications for application in agriculture, in particular for soil analysis, easy bio-chemical sensing and control, water management and delivery, pesticide and nutrient delivery.

In recent years, agricultural waste products have attracted attention as source of renewable raw materials to be processed in substitution of fossil resources for several different applications as well as a raw material for nanomaterial production (see for instance: "New synthesis method for graphene using agricultural waste"wink. Nanocomposites based on biomaterials have beneficial properties compared to traditional micro and macro composite materials and, additionally, their production is more sustainable. Many production processes are being developed nowadays to obtain useful nanocomposites from traditionally harvested materials.Commercial applications of nanotechnology in the agricultural sectorFrom a commercial perspective, existing agro-chemical companies are investigating the potential of nanotechnologies and, in particular, whether intentionally manufactured nano-size active ingredients can give increased efficacy or greater penetration of useful components in plants. However, the nano-size so far did not demonstrate to hold key improvements in products characteristics, especially considering the interest of large scale production and the costs involved in it.Some specific nano-products for the agricultural sector have been put on the market by technology-oriented smaller companies, like soil-enhancer products that promote even water distribution, storage and consequently water saving. However, the commercial market application of these products is so far only achieved at small scale, due to the high costs involved in their development. These costs are normally compensated by higher returns in the medical or pharmaceutical sectors, but so far there are no such returns in the agricultural sector. Research continues in the commercial agro-chemical sector to evaluate potential future advantages.Companies are also facing challenges derived from the definition of nanomaterials that is adopted by the EU. One crucial point related to the EU definition is the possibility that non-active substances already used for many decades in commercial products formulations will fall within the scope of the nano definition, although not intentionally developed as nanoparticles or having specific nano-scale properties. Nanoscale formulants (e.g. clay, silica, polymers, pigments, macromolecules) have been used for many decades and are also ubiquitous in many daily household products. The concern is that the need for labelling of products that are already on the market since decades results in a scenario, in which the technology is stigmatized, preventing further and innovative applications of nanotechnology in agriculture.Nanotechnology risk assessment and regulation in the EU and worldwideDue to the variety of applications of nanotechnology, different pieces of legislation are concerned in the EU, including both horizontal legislation and product-specific legislation. The most comprehensive horizontal piece of legislation relevant to nanomaterials is the EU Regulation on Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), which addresses chemical substances, in whatever size, shape or physical state. Substances at the nanoscale are therefore covered by REACH and its provisions apply. Some researchers, however, argue that REACH needs to be revised in three major areas (read more: "Does the EU's chemical regulation sufficiently address nanotechnology risks?".
Among product-specific legislation, some already explicitly address nanomaterials (cosmetics, food additives, provision of food information to consumers, and biocides) while others do not (toys, electrical equipment and waste & environmental legislation).

At international level, there are several activities in place on risk analysis of nanomaterials in the food and agriculture sectors, in particular by the governments of Australia/New Zealand, Canada, China, the EU, Japan, Switzerland and the US. Overall, definitions of nanomaterials developed in different countries result in different risk management measures. So far, apart from the EU, no country has set a regulatory framework for the mandatory labelling of nanomaterials in food and current regulations do not cover all areas (see for instance: "Gaps in U.S. nanotechnology regulatory oversight"wink.

Socio-economic issues of agricultural
nanotechnology

The emergence of nanotechnology applications in consumer products has also raised a number of ethical and societal concerns in some countries, starting from health and environmental safety, to consumer perception and intellectual property rights. From different studies about consumer acceptance of nanotechnology products, it appears that the public opinion is generally not negative. The public seems to be unconcerned about many applications of nanotechnology with the exception of areas where societal concern already exists such as pesticides. As for many emerging technologies, intellectual property in nanotechnology, and in particular freedom to operate, constitute relevant issues for the development of new products. The number of patent applications in nanotechnology has increased more than tenfold during the last 20 years, demonstrating a great potential for commercial applications. Patenting on nanotechnology in general presents some important concerns (read more: "Legal implications of the nanotechnology patent land rush"wink. Nanotechnology is pervasive in different fields of applications and nano-based inventions could infringe existing granted patents in those fields. This risk of overlapping patents can also have consequences for the agri-food sector. Moreover, patent holders could lock-up huge areas of technology. There are indeed already over 3,000 patents worldwide for potential agrochemical usage of nanotechnology but they are most likely patents with broad claims, filed with the scope of guarantee freedom to operate in the field in case of future commercial developments. In developing countries nanotechnologies can have important applications in several agri-food areas, such as food security, input delivery, rice production systems, agri-biotechnology, healthcare of animals, precision farming, food industry and water use (read more: "Small is beautiful? Nanotechnology solutions for development problems"wink. However, the main factors limiting the development of these applications are low investments in manpower training and in research infrastructure.

Check and Boost your Credit Score
With modern free flow of information, lenders can easily access your credit rating. It is therefore important to check your credit score to ensure there are no errors that could lead to a rejection of your loan application.

For most loans, a bad credit score can cause your application to be rejected. While nowadays it is possible to secure a loan even with bad credit, a good credit score helps you borrow a larger amount. It also helps you negotiate for better interest rates.

Apply for only the Amount you need
Most applicants inflate they apply due to the temptation to have some extra bucks after solving the financial need for which they are borrowing. Bigger amounts, however, significantly increase the chances that your application will be rejected.

For many lenders, it is less risky to lend a small amount compared to a larger amount. Thus, if two applicants with similar credentials apply for different amounts, the lender is more likely to approve the smaller amount first.

It is therefore more sensible for you to apply for the minimum amount you need. Smaller amounts are also easier to repay without hurting your financials.

Be Sure of the Type of Loan You Need
There are many types of personal loans and the requirements may differ. Knowing the specific type of loan you are applying for will help you customize your application to suit the requirements. As a result, your application will be concise and easier for the lenders to go through and approve.

On the other hand, having too much junk information will cast a doubt on your knowledge about finances and thus your loan is less likely to be approved.

Go for Reputable Lenders only
Due to thee reluctance by the traditional financial institutions to give loans to high-risk borrowers, many other lenders mushroomed to fill the gap. While most of these lenders are reputable, some scams have also taken advantage of the situation to swindle innocent people.

Such lenders will take you in rounds before they approve your loan application and may sneak in clauses that will result in you paying too much money in rates and interest.

To avoid this, do a background on your potential lender and avoid those who have been caught up in court cases. At Nation 21, however, we have vetted our lenders to weed out any such scams.

Be Transparent
In order for lender to loan you their money, they must be able to trust that you will honor all the aspects of the agreement. The most basic way to do this is to ensure that you are transparent with all the necessary personal information.

Sometimes the lenders may also reach out for additional information. If they do it is always better to comply. This way, you create the sense that you are not hiding anything from your lenders thus unlikely to default on your loan.

Give Accurate Details
In your application form, ensure that the information you give is also credible and accurate. Make sure the credentials are also up to date. Avoidable errors, even if committed innocently, send the wrong impression to the lender and may lead to a decline of your application.

Manage your Personal Finances
While this may sound similar to the point about keeping a good credit score, it is slightly different. By managing your personal finances, you will need to borrow less and, as discussed above, the lenders are more likely to lend you when you borrow a small amount.

The state of your existing loans also has a bearing on whether your application is approved or not. Through proper management of your finances, you will maintain a healthy repayment plan. If the lenders go through such records, they will have more confidence in your financial discipline and ability to repay thus convincing them to loan you money.

An Application at a Time
Sending out loan applications to various companies increases your chance of getting a loan, right? Wrong. Before approving your loan, lenders do a little fishing of information and sometimes they might find the applications you have sent to those other lenders.

This sends the signal that you are either not good at managing your finances or you have hidden motives. Many lenders will deny you a loan on this basis.

Having several rejected loan applications also impacts your credit score negatively.

Have a Stable Job
A stable source of income will boost your chances of getting a loan in with both traditional and informal financial institutions. Many of the lenders at Nation 21 require you to have worked at your current job for a specified period of time. You should therefore avoid job-hopping because it can reduce your chances of having your loan application approved.

You're welcome
Health / Healthpally.com On 10 Tips To Destress Yourself & Improve Your Wellbeing by ayufun: 2:21pm On Jan 10, 2019
Regardless of the causes of stress, everyone can make ten lifestyle changes to reduce its impact. And each will improve your life in other ways as well!

Eat good food (not too much).
Fatty, sugary, processed comfort foods make you lethargic and make the effects of stress worse. Eat some good protein (eggs, fish) and lots of plant-based whole food to keep energy constant, fend off anxiety and boost the immune system.
The Mediterranean diet and DASH Diethave been shown to reduce the kind of stress that leads to cardiovascular disease.

Exercise to enhance your body’s response to stress — moving is what your body wants you to do with all that adrenalin anyway.

Get enough sleep. Brain chemicals released during the dreaming stage can block stress hormones.

Keep a journal to help you figure out what’s stressing you and de-stress. Don’t think or worry about it, just write anything that comes to mind.

Create a plan to change what’s stressing you. It might be as simple as an automatic payroll deduction for saving, or as complex as going to school for new skills. It might be self-care. But taking steps can reduce the stress.

Take breaks from work, organize time and projects, set limits on yourself and others.

Spend time with and talk to people you enjoy or find a support group.
Make sure they are people with a positive outlook.

Cut things out of your schedule.
Figure out what you really love and say no to unnecessary activities.

Develop pleasure and relaxation habits (meditation, yoga, deep breathing, making art or music for example).

Change the way you think about things.
While stress is real and not “all in your head,” you might be thinking about things in a way that’s making it worse. Many of our unhealthy responses are habits that we can change. One good place to start is eliminating negative self-talk — that internal criticism and pessimism that keeps our glass half-empty.

The refined salt producers spend so much on campaign, making people believing that their salt is better but it's actually malnourished since active ingredients in organic salt are already bleached away during processing.
Health / Healthpally.com On Reasons Nigerians Should STOP Taking Sachet & Table Salts by ayufun: 11:00am On Jan 09, 2019
The truth is, every cell in your body needs salt to function as it should. You literally can’t be healthy without enough salt in your diet. Where the confusion exists is with regards to the type of sodium you put in your body.

The refined, table salt varieties are so far removed from the original that they deplete your system of nutrients. They do this while elevating blood pressure and set you up for a lifetime of cardiovascular issues.

Table salt contributes to hypertension

Perhaps the most commonly reported health condition associated with table salt consumption is hypertension. Hypertension refers to chronically elevated blood pressure. It’s a situation that can lead the way to life-threatening conditions like heart disease and stroke. The means by which table salt and other refined salt varieties cause this are varied. But the largest contributor is on account of elevated fluid retention.

The more table salt you eat, the more your body holds onto water. This, in turn, elevates your blood pressure. A 2006 study examined the relationship between sodium intake and hypertension. Researchers found that a 30 percent decrease in average salt intake over the past 30 years resulted in a 10 mmHg fall in the population average of both systolic and diastolic blood pressure.

Table salt contributes to heart disease

As discussed above, elevated blood pressure from consumption of refined table salt can significantly increase your risk of heart conditions, heart disease and stroke. When you suffer from high blood pressure, your heart has to work harder to push blood around your body. Your heart is a muscle. And when muscles need to work harder, they become thicker and larger. To cope with the added work, your heart thickens and grows. Over time, this can actually make it more difficult to beat as it should.

This can lead to the development of heart failure. The disease is characterized by an irregular heartbeat. Depending on which side of your heart is affected, the disease can lead to a range of symptoms. These include chronic fatigue, breathlessness and coughing up of frothy phlegm. If the right side of your heart is affected by heart failure, you can experience swollen feet, ankles and legs. Either way, it’s not ideal!

Table salt contributes to stroke

A stroke can occur when high blood pressure narrows the blood vessels in your brain. This can run the risk of those vessels becoming blocked and bursting. At this point, the brain fails to receive vital oxygen that would otherwise have been supplied by those blood vessels, resulting in damage to certain areas. This is classified as a stroke. It can lead to serious disability or even death.

A 2013 study published in the Journal BMJperformed a meta-analysis of 14 cohort studies and five randomized controlled trials relating to cardiovascular disease, stroke and heart disease. In addition, the meta-analysis included 37 randomized controlled trials measuring blood pressure, renal function and a range of other cardiovascular markers. Across the board, the various studies collectively showed that a reduction in sodium intake significantly reduced both systolic blood pressure and resting diastolic blood pressure. On the other hand, increase sodium intake was associated with an increased risk of stroke, stroke mortality and coronary heart disease.

Table salt is bleached

There’s a reason why your table salt is so pristinely white — and it’s not a natural reason! In order to produce standardized, mass-production friendly white granules, table salt manufacturers bleach their salt white. If you’ve ever bought natural, unrefined sea salt or rock salt, you would have noticed that it’s never all the same color. It can be anything from dark grey to bright pink. That bleach which makes your table salt so nice is still in your salt. That means you’re ingesting a little bit of bleach every time you sprinkle it on your food. Delicious.

Table salt is a waste of time and energy

For those not overly interested in their own health, there’s still plenty of other reasons why you should avoid table salt like the plague. In my opinion, table salt tastes so much worse than natural, unrefined sea or rock salt. I find that I need to add a whole lot more table salt to my meals to get the same satiation factor as I would with natural sea salt. That means that with every meal, I’m elevating my blood pressure and dehydrating my cells.

The next thing to consider is that table salt is completely devoid of the multitude of trace minerals that were present in it’s original form. There’s really no connection between natural salt and table salt. The latter has been so refined and processed that the result is simply sodium and chloride… nothing else! On the other hand, natural sea salt contains plenty of potassium, phosphorus, calcium, iron, iodine, manganese and zinc. Your average table salt variety contains nothing of any real value to your body. Some table salts have had iodine added back in after refining. However, this is an artificial form of iodine and difficult for your body to metabolize.

For these reasons, why would you ever bother with table salt? It tastes worse, has no nutritional value, elevates blood pressure and increases your risk of heart disease and stroke. It’s really not worth the efforts.

Health / Healthpally.com On 19 Tips To Help Preventing Prostate Cancer In Nigerian Men by ayufun: 10:18am On Jan 08, 2019
Maximize fruit and vegetable servings
Fruits and vegetables contain high levels of cancer- and inflammation-fighting substances such as antioxidants, polyphenols, vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Strong evidence points to the ability of these foods—which are rich in potent phytonutrients—to reduce the risk of developing several types of cancer, including prostate cancer.

Focus on proper nutrition
Cancer experts estimate that our food choices account for up to 90 percent of cancers of the prostate, breast, pancreas, and colon.  Making changes to your diet can significantly lower your risk of getting prostate disease.

Eat healthy fats
Research shows that people who live in countries where high-fat diets are the norm (like the United States) are more likely to develop prostate cancer than people who live in countries where diets are lower in fat.

Choose plant protein over animal protein
Plant protein gives you all the nutrients and health benefits needed for maximum prostate health.  Diets rich in plant protein have been shown to reduce rates of cancer and prostate disease.  Also, according to the World Health Organization “diets high in red meat, dairy products, and animal fat have frequently been implicated in the development of prostate cancer.”

Eat whole and natural foods
Consuming foods high in fiber has been linked to lower levels of testosterone (Wang 2005) and lower PSA scores (Tariq 2000), both good indicators for prostate health.

Consume green tea
Green tea contains substances called catechins that travel throughout the body and take up residence in the prostate, where they can slow the growth of cancer cells, encourage cancer cell “suicide” (apoptosis), and interfere with the actions of enzymes that encourage the growth and spread of cancer. Studies show that men who drink green tea can reduce the risk of developing prostate cancer by as much as 70 percent when compared with men who don’t drink green tea. (Jian 2004)

Eat omega-3 rich foods
Found in certain fish, Omega 3 fats fight inflammation, a process that eats up the body’s natural antioxidants and weakens the immune system, making the body more vulnerable to disease.  Omega 3 has also been shown to significantly decrease prostate cancer risk.

Avoid foods and additives that are harmful to prostate health
Some foods, supplements, additives and nutrients are especially harmful to the prostate, including but not limited to red meat, calcium, chondroitin, and foods high in sugar.

Take supplements selectively
Many supplements can be beneficial to the prostate but some have the potential to be harmful (such as calcium).  You need to be aware of all the facts (good and bad) so you can make an informed choice about what supplements you take.

Consume cancer-killing foods
Numerous foods and their components in The Prostate Health Diet have been shown to be cancer killers. Elevated levels of folate (folic acid) and vitamin D are associated with a reduced risk of developing prostate cancer. Other foods such as turmeric/curcumin and cayenne have been shown to have cancer killing properties as has lycopene, found mainly in tomato-based products.

Hydrate often
Drinking pure water is essential for prostate health.

Achieve and maintain a healthy weight Numerous studies have shown a link between being overweight and having a high risk of prostate cancer as well as lower long-term survival rates and more aggressive forms of the disease.

Exercise regularly
Studies with animals and large human populations suggest that exercise can help slow the spread of prostate cancer (Esser 2009).  Exercise also has a preventative effect on prostatitis and BPH as well as inflammation.

Manage stress
Many health experts believe that stress plays a role in cancer: it may not directly cause it, but long-term stress can be very detrimental to the body, weakening the immune system, altering your hormonal balance, and overall making you more susceptible to disease.

Experiment with natural therapies
Natural prevention and treatment approaches for prostate health include acupuncture, biofeedback, homeopathy, hormone restoration, massage, reflexology and stress management techniques.

Lead a prostate friendly lifestyle
Smoking, sleep patterns, some medications and alcohol all affect your prostate.

Maintain hormone balance
Hormone management and hormone balancing play a major role in prostate health.  According to the World Health Organization “diet might influence prostate cancer risk by affecting hormone levels.”

Maintain a healthy sex life
Sex seems to be healthy for your prostate but can you have too much of a good thing?

Avoid exposure to toxins
Stay away from chemicals and other substances that can increase the risk of developing cancer. It’s been estimated that 90 percent of people in the United States have detectable levels of BPA toxin in their bodies. BPA has been associated with various health problems, including an increased risk of cancer, including prostate cancer.

Business / Techpally.com On 7 Tips To Make Huge Dollars From Google Opinion App At Home by ayufun: 8:34am On Jan 08, 2019
1. Open the app every single day

It seems that people who open the app every single day are receiving more number of surveythan people who opens once in a week. So, 1. Just open the app every single day and increase the chances of getting more surveys.

2. Keep your GPS on while visiting any place

When Google finds that you are in a shopping mall, it may send you a survey asking for feedback about the mall. Like for example, some users point that when they were in Target Store they received survey question like “Did you just go to Target?”.

Next time you visit Spencer, Forum, BigBazaar, Phoenix, Elante or any other top malls or stores, just keep your location On.

3. Share Location History

Sharing Location history increases the chance of getting more surveys. Google opinion rewards uses your location to ask you about places you have visited. Thereby helping you earn more rewards. To enable Google location history sharing follow the steps below,

Just swipe from left to right to bring out the menu.

Tap on settings.

Tap on Google Location History.

Enable the toggle switch on top and near the device.

4. Travel a lot

If you travel a lot, you are likely to receive more surveys. Surveys may be focused on getting feedback on your travel, like where you went, how was the experience and so on.

5. Be honest

While taking surveys, just be honest. If your answers are inconsistent, the chances of getting new surveys will be reduced and you won’t be able to fully complete any survey. Some people fake their income and age. Don’t do that. Even a simple algorithm can spot lies and blacklist.

Sometimes people have received a survey asking whether they were in a particular location that do not actually exist. Out of greed, when tapped on Yes, the algorithm found them to lying and sent a gentle reminder to be honest.

6. Pay attention while taking survey

While answering the survey, you may receive a dummy question in the middle of the questions, to check whether you are still paying attention. The question will be like, please select 5 stars below. And if you you answer it wrong, that will signal that you are not taking surveys seriously.

Some users have reported that they are not receiving any surveys after they made a wrong answer for attention testing question. They even went back and corrected the answer, but still that did not help them. So, just pay full attention while answering.

7. Female respondents receive more survey

Sorry, guys. It seems Google Surveys team needs more input from Female respondents. After I went through a treasure of comments over the web, It seems that female respondents are earning more. It doesn’t have anything to do with gender based preferential treatment or anything. It is just that they need more input from a particular gender.
So, if you are a female, you are in luck. If you are a male, then just skip this tip. Patience is a virtue I guess.

How much can I earn

How much you earn depends on your demographics, honesty, how often you travel and some more factors. Here’s a screenshot of a user’s’ earnings. This should give you an idea.

Where can I use these Credits

The rewards are basically Play Store credits. You can use them for in-app purchases for your favorite games or apps, purchase your favorite app, purchase a movie or a music album and so on. Especially useful when you want remove those huge ads on your favorite app and become a pro or premium user.

Some Apps that are worth buying

As, far as I found, following are some of apps that are worth paying for. MX Player, Runtastic, Stellarium, ES File explorer, Star Walk 2, Poweramp, and Brain Focus.

Now is the best time to sign up for Google opinion rewards, as there are frequent discounts on top apps and games on Play Store. And you could use those Play Store credits wisely at at the right time on right app.

Agriculture / Farmpally.com On Pig's Housing Requirements For Maximum Yield by ayufun: 6:14am On Jan 08, 2019
The basic infrastructure depends on how many pigs you want to keep. The design should ideally allow for adding further pens as your operation grows.

Previously, I suggested starting off by buying weaners (young pigs already on solid food, usually older than 28 days) and growing them out.

In this way, you’ll soon learn about pig behaviour, management techniques and daily feed requirements.

Your cash turnover cycle will also be quicker, as you will not need to feed a sow for four months while it is pregnant, manage the birth process, and then feed the piglets until selling them.

It is crucial to consider the economics. Is it worth your while to feed the sow for so many months, or should you let another farmer do this for you, leaving you only the task of growing the weaners out to ‘porker’ or ‘baconer’ size?

If you start with six weaners (a practical number), one holding enclosure is fine but two are better in case you need to separate weaker feeders from greedy or aggressive ones, a common problem in pig farming.

Pig shelters can be built in several ways, with some designs being more solid than others. You can also use the structure of an existing outbuilding, adding internal compartments as needed.

Brick and mortar construction is strong but expensive, and the layout cannot easily be changed at a later stage.

I suggest using medium-heavy steel gates to form enclosures around the sleeping areas as this is cheaper than building walls. You can have some made-to-purpose, or use sheep gates bought at a co-op. Using wire or heavy duty cable ties, link the gates to one another to create a firm structure. You can at any time change the arrangement/size of the enclosures.

Avoid using net or other types of fencing. A pig is a strong animal and may start biting or forcing its nose through such a fence, eventually creating an escape route.

You may have to cover a gate with some form of netting when housing young weaners, which can escape through the bars.

Guidelines for enclosed sleeping structures

Each pig requires about 4m² of pen space (including the sleeping area, about one-third of the pen).

The total pen area for six pigs should be about 24m² (4m x 6m).

Remember this when making or buying steel gates. Ideally, these should be 2m long, with no gaps wider than 15cm between the bars.

Concrete or paved surfaces are easier to clean. Otherwise site the pens on slightly sloping ground for water run-off when it rains. A permanently muddy surface with puddles of water promotes disease.

The enclosure needs a feeding trough long enough to provide each feeding pig standing space. The trough can be built from brick and mortar (about 60cm wide and 30cm above ground level) along one of the boundaries.

A long concrete sheep drinking trough is also a good pig feeding trough. It is portable and easy to clean.

Health / Healthpally.com On P.O.L.I.C.E Principles In Acute Injury Therapy by ayufun: 1:37am On Jan 08, 2019
What Does P.O.L.I.C.E. Stand For?

So is there another action to take after a sudden injury like a ligament sprain or muscle strain? Some physical therapists are recommending the P.O.L.I.C.E. principle. The P.O.L.I.C.E. acronym is as follows:

Protection: During the first few days after an injury, you should certainly rest the injured joint, ligament, or muscle. After a few days, gentle motion can be started while you still maintain a level of protection for the injured area. During this time you may require some sort of assistive device, like crutches, to walk.

Optimum Loading: While you are protecting your injured body part, gentle motion can, and should, be started.

For example, after a shoulder injury or shoulder surgery, you should be able to progress from a few days of rest to passive ROM, active ROM, and finally, rotator cuff strengthening exercises.

This progressive loading of your injury can help promote optimal healing of the injury, and it can prevent delays in returning to normal due to joint and muscle tightness or muscle atrophy.

Ice: Applying ice may help to manage the swelling around your injured muscle or joint, and ice can help decrease some of the acute pain that you may be experiencing. Your PT can help you determine the best method of applying an ice to your injury. He or she can also teach you how to make your own ice pack.

Compression: While applying ice, compression can be added using an ACE bandage. You can also use a product like Ice Tape to cool and compress the injury at the same time.

Elevation: Elevation is simple for some body parts. An injured ankle or knee can be placed on a stack of pillows while you are lying down. An injury to your elbow or wrist requires that you elevate your entire arm on something. Your PT can help advise you on the best way to elevate your injury.

As you can see, the P.O.L.I.C.E. principle deviates slightly from the R.I.C.E. method. Sure, ice is still used, but there no rest component. Rather, optimal loading and movement are used. This creates early motion, decreases stiffness, and may help you quickly get moving again

How Physical Therapy Can Help

The P.O.L.I.C.E. principle is a simple method to try after acute injury, but a visit to your physical therapist may be necessary. He or she can first help you figure out the best protection for your injury.

For example, a shoulder injury may require the use of a sling initially, and a knee ligament injury may require a brace during the initial healing phases.

Your physical therapist can advise you on exactly how much protection your injured body needs, and he or she can tell you when it is time to stop protecting the injury and start using the injured body part.

Your physical therapist can also guide you in the "optimal loading" part of the P.O.L.I.C.E. principle. After an injury, you may be required to perform simple exercises and motions to allow your injured muscle or ligament to heal properly.

As your injury heals, your physical therapist can change your exercises to ensure that optimal loading and proper healing occurs.

When things are fully healed, you will be able to move freely and get back to normal activity without having to worry about stiffness or loss of strength that may come with a lengthy period of rest.

Business / Techpally.com On Top 5 Entrepreneurial Skill For Successful Business In Nigeria by ayufun: 1:19am On Jan 08, 2019
Below are the 5 top skills for running a successful business:

1. Confidence

Confidence can not only improve leadership style but can contribute to overall happiness. When acting as a leader it is important to have the confidence to give constructive feedback where necessary.

In situations where there is a lack of confidence, a situation may be handled in an incorrect way because the leader was not confident enough to give team members the constructive feedback they needed.

Additionally, shying away from tackling difficult issues can also mean that the task at hand is put at risk; it is important to have the confidence to be able to tackle difficult issues when they arise. This includes managing difficult conversations with team mates and improving overall social interaction.

2. Self-awareness

Understanding your personal leadership style and its impact on others can work towards demonstrating positive and inclusive leadership.

Useful links to start your business

Your business needs a website to connect you to your customers. Create a professional website for free today with GoDaddy.

iZettle allows you to take card payments with no monthly fees. Get 67% off your iZettle Card Reader.

Having an insight into your leadership style means that it is possible to tailor work to specific needs and become equipped with the skills and motivation necessary to succeed in life. This self-awareness provides a springboard to efficient communication and social skills.

3. Inspiring and motivating others

Inspiring and motivating others is an important skill that can benefit a team and lead to a highly positive working environment.

A leader that encourages and recognises great work will attract a happier team who feel appreciated and therefore consistently deliver good results.

Additionally, being able to unleash your own aspirations and motivation can bring about a feeling of great empowerment and work towards an effective leadership style.

4. Resilience

Facing difficult situations is a part of life that can cause a feeling of discouragement and loss of motivation that affects the quality of work.

Having the resilience to turn these difficulties from negative to positive is something that is believed to be one of the most important (and difficult) skills to obtain as a leader.

It requires creative and rational thinking to manage the feelings and emotions of other people and ensure that their place in the workplace is a happy one.

5. Enthusiasm

Enthusiasm in the workplace can enhance leadership skills and unlock the full potential of a leader.

Displaying a willingness to listen and communicate as well as showing basic enthusiastic traits like smiling, nodding and sitting up straight demonstrates a visible, inclusive and powerful leadership style.

This includes showing enthusiasm through your own ideas but also attentively listening to others ideas and making them feel valued.

Furthermore, setting goals, taking action and planning for the future reassures teams that the business is heading in the right direction.

Teaching young people these skills results in the development of a better leadership style as well as the development of general life skills, further heightening the chances of success.

Business / Techpally.com On 8 Top Ideas To Get Loans In Crowdfunding by ayufun: 9:25am On Jan 07, 2019
1. Select a Crowdfunding Platform

There are many excellent vendor platforms to choose from, at a variety of price points to match your organization's budget. Here's a list of crowdfunding vendors that would be good to consider: Classy.org, Indiegogo.com, GoFundMe.com, CrowdRise.com, and Razoo.com. (Editor's note: TechSoup also offers crowdfunding plans from CauseVox.)

2. Highlight Your Brand

When you use an online vendor to host your crowdfunding campaign, be sure to highlight your brand as clearly as possible. This includes using your logo, your color scheme, and other key messaging elements so that visitors will know who they're supporting.

3. Tell a Compelling Story

You'll only have a few seconds to make a strong impression on your visitors, so write a short and compelling description of the project you're raising money for. Focus on a strong headline that summarizes the problem you're trying to solve and the solution you're proposing. Feel free to illustrate your story with testimonials that demonstrate the impact your organization can make to address this issue.

4. Use Photos and Video for Emotional Impact

A few photos will help you illustrate your story, and don't hesitate to use a short video (under one minute) for additional emotional impact. Videos have been shown to dramatically increase the performance of crowdfunding campaigns.

5. Offer a Variety of Giving Levels

Your crowdfunding campaign will be widely disseminated, so be sure to offer a variety of giving levels. Don't turn away small gifts ($5), since these donors can be moved up the ladder of engagement over time. Be sure to describe how certain donation amounts help your project — this can motivate donors to give at higher levels.

6. Consider Offering a Gift or Premium for Different Giving Levels

Many crowdfunding campaigns offer a gift or a premium that corresponds to levels of giving. This technique can be useful when you reach out to new supporters who will be more tempted to make a donation in exchange for a small gift.

7. Do Email Follow-up with Your Donors

All donors should receive an immediate email thank-you after they make a gift. It should also suggest that they spread the word via email and social media. Don't hesitate to email your donors with an update every few weeks, summarizing the fundraising total and asking for additional help with promotion.

8. Get Creative with Your Promotion

Crowdfunding success will depend on your ability to promote your campaign as widely as possible. Get your team together and brainstorm how you'll spread the word. Create a calendar to
plot out your marketing activities: email blasts, website promotion, social media posts, flyers at your events, links in your staff email signature files. Contact your business vendors to see if they'll help with promotion (and a donation). Network in your community to spread the word.

Health / Healthpally.com On 10+ Asthma Preventive & Curative Foods by ayufun: 7:59am On Jan 07, 2019
1. Avocado

Avocado, with its high levels of L-glutathione, protects our cells from free radical damage (such as histamine). This trendy fruit can be prepared in a variety of ways, because it is literally considered “the master of antioxidants.”

2. Honey

Mixing 1 tsp. of honey in a cup of warm water (3x a day) removes phlegm from your throat and treats asthma symptoms. (It also reduces cholesterol levels, prevents and treats gingivitis and digests pre-accumulated fat.) You can even add 1/2 tbsp. of cinnamon to 3 tbsp. of honey mixed in 1 tbsp. of lemon juice.

3. Kale

Kale has more vitamin C per cup than a whole orange; this vitamin reduces muscle contraction in our airway passages. This veggie is also loaded with beta-carotene (an antioxidant phytochemical) which, among with alleviating asthma symptoms, also has packed levels of vitamin A, vitamin K, vitamin C, B6, manganese and more.

4. Coffee

The relationship between caffeine and asthma is an issue that’s been happening for a while. Coffee immediately treats asthma attacks or symptoms as they happen. How? Because the caffiene expands our airwaves, making it easier for us to breathe.

5. Spinach

Spinach is largely considered the “king of super foods” because it is stuffed with vitamin C, beta-carotene, vitamin E, potassium, zinc, iron, calcium and magnesium. Magnesium deficiency and asthma sufferers are quite common.

6. Apple

WebMD revealed that expected mothers who ate apples might prevent asthma and wheezing in their newborns. The study also cites eating 1 banana a day (along with drinking apple juice) “improved wheezing occurrences.”

7. Banana

Eating 1 banana a day reduces asthmatic symptoms. Most likely because bananas, rich is potassium and fiber, lowering blood pressure and fighting cancer – as it prevents the formation of free radicals. (Did I mention that bananas also strengthen heart health?)

8. Garlic

If you don’t mind stinky breath: Garlic obliterates lung congestion and reduces airway inflammation. This is largely due to vitamin C, which neutralises the molecules causing airway constriction. To use this:

• Crush 3 cloves of garlic

• Add to 2 cups of hot water

• Boil until 1 cup is left

• Let sit for 5 minutes

• Enjoy

9. Water

Not having enough water vaper in the lungs causes airways to constrict. This provides mucus, which (in conjunction with constriction) form asthma attacks and symptoms. Interestingly enough, coffee steals the badly-needed nutrients our bodies need from water – leading to dehydration. As your water source may be contaminated, it’s recommended to drink Brita water or water that’s been through a purification system.

10. Ginger

Aside from boosting immune systems, fighting cancer and other benefits that have been around for centuries, ginger also helps treat asthma - it keeps respiratory tracts in check. Along with airway-muscle relaxation, calcium uptake levels are regulated (responsible for lessening the asthma attack).

Health / Healthpally.com On Tips For Preventing Periodontal Diseases In Nigeria by ayufun: 2:19am On Jan 05, 2019
Brush teeth, gums, and tongue twice a day

It is important to remember to brush your teeth once in the morning and once in the evening. Make sure that you are brushing for 2 minutes every single time you brush. It is also extremely important to brush along the gum line as well as your tongue. This helps to reduce the amount of bacteria that live on the surface of the gums. Using fluoride to brush also helps.

Floss your teeth daily to remove food particles between your teeth after eating

Even though brushing is extremely important, you must not forget to floss regularly. A toothbrush is not able to get in between your teeth and clean the crevices. Plaque and food gets lodged into these crevices which causes bacteria to form in between the teeth and gums. Sticky film gets stuck onto the gums and teeth which causes the bacteria to form which puts you at a higher risk for gum disease. Make sure you are flossing once a day with dental floss or a soft pick brush.

Visit your dentist twice a year

One of the most important things you can do in order to keep your gums healthy is to visit a dentist at least twice a year. The dentist will be able to perform a comprehensive check-up in order to determine the health of your gums. You could very well be doing everything you are supposed to but could still develop gum disease. Your dentist will check your medical history, check for bleeding, as well as pockets. They will also perform a cleaning which reduces the bad bacteria on your teeth before it travels to your gums.

Drink wisely

What drinks you consume can affect the health of your teeth. Beverages such as soft drinks and sugary juices have been targeted as culprits of tooth decay. Drinking less soft drink and more water, milk and fresh juices can help protect your teeth.

Watch for signs of gum disease

Even if you take every precaution, it is still very important to check for signs of gum disease. It is also crucial to notify your dentist if you have any of these following warning signs of gum disease:

1. Your gums bleed easily

2.Your gums are very red, tender and / or swollen

3.You can see pus in between your teeth and gums when they are pressed.

4.Your gums seem to be pulling away from your teeth

5. You have chronic bad breath or a bad taste in your mouth

6. You notice a change in your bite or in the way your teeth fit together

7. Your teeth are loose or they are separating

8. The fit of your partials or dentures have changed

You have a higher risk of periodontal disease if you are a smoker, have an immune deficiency disorder, are diabetic and have cardiovascular disease.

.

If you are wondering how to go about it and have a few questions on wireless home technology, then you have landed at the right place as we have answers.

hat do I want my home automation system to do?

With a home automation system, you need to decide that which part of your home or life you want to simplify and enhance. This is because home automation systems are designed to provide efficiency and convenience to all the aspects of your home including your home theater, lighting, multi-room music, heating, cooling and security systems.
Terms like ‘smart home’, ‘home control’ and ‘home automation’ all sound same.

So, what is the difference between them?
Well, home control and home automation are those things that the smart homes do. Home control means operating the lights, locks and thermostats in your home from a single device like your smartphone. And Home automation is the process of programming those devices in a way so that they operate automatically to best suit your lifestyle.

Will Home Automation Technology Be Difficult to Understand?
Not at all! It is no rocket science and no special degree is needed to understand and use the home automation to its full potential. The control mechanisms are in the form of easy-to-use keypads, touch screens, TV screen menus and remotes. Even navigation applications for iPhones, iPods and Web browsers are also available.

Does smart home technology increase the chances of my home to get hacked?
Well, any technology that uses internet for communication etc. is prone to get hacked. However, with smart and secure home automation solutions by Sound of Music it’s very unlikely. Its advanced security framework with smart home system is sure to secure your Wi-Fi network at all levels.

Will Home Automation cost me major lifestyle adjustments?
Home automation is modular and flexible so that you can easily use automation in one room at a time. For example, wanting to watch a movie will be simpler in a home theatre system room where the automation and lighting control will all be controlled with a single remote. Also, from there you can also expand your system to other sections of your house. This will lead to a simpler life with simple control options and not costing you any major lifestyle modifications or adjustments.

Health / HealthPally.com : Teeth Whitening Questions Dat U Always Wanted 2 Ask Ur Dentist by ayufun: 5:44pm On Jan 04, 2019
Whitening the teeth has become quite a necessity for many individuals in today’s society. While it may seem like a simple thing which hardly requires any training to do, this is much further than the truth. There are also many questions about teeth whitening that you wish you know the answer to so here’s a peek at these questions and their answers:
What exactly is tooth whitening?
The basic concept of teeth whitening is the bleaching of the outer layer of teeth so that your teeth’s colour lightens by various shades. It cannot make your teeth sparklingly white but it does get the job done.
Who can I approach for teeth whitening services ?
This type of service is mainly done by a certified dentist in a dental office. Dental hygienist or dental therapists can also perform such whitening sessions. Never approach someone without valid dental certification when it comes to such services. While there are a few beauty salons offer such services they are illegal and it is advised to stay away from them.
What happens during the teeth whitening session?
Teeth whitening is not done in a single session. It is a time consuming treatment which takes weeks through a few scheduled sessions. Most dentists take an impression of your teeth and make a mouth guard out of it. Then he or she will instruct you on how to use it with a bleaching gel. After that, you will have to use the mouth guard at your home and keep bleaching your teeth as the dentists has instructed.
Another type of whitening is laser teeth whitening. This works by applying a cleaning or whitening component on your teeth and then a laser is used on the teeth to activate the whitening. Laser whitening takes comparatively less time than regular whitening mentioned earlier.
Is teeth whitening suitable for everyone?
No, teeth whitening is not for everyone. People with crowns or gum diseases cannot get teeth whitening done due to fear of the reaction with the bleach. This prevents anyone with such issues to get teeth whitening done.

Is teeth whitening permanent?
Teeth whitening is not permanent. The effects of teeth whitening can stay around for a few weeks to three or four years. It is not possible for the teeth to stay in the same shade over time and especially for people who smoke, drink red wine, tea or coffee as these activities stain your teeth the most.

Can fake teeth be whitened?
No, fake teeth cannot be whitened through teeth whitening.

Are there any risks involved for teeth whitening?
Whatever dental treatment you seek, there is always a risk to your teeth and gums. If you have very sensitive teeth or gums, you may experience burning sensations and sometimes if teeth whitening is done by an inexperienced dental specialist, the tooth enamel can get damaged.
As you now know the answers to some of the questions that pertain to teeth whitening, it’s also good to visit an experienced dentist who conducts teeth whitening procedures for his or her patients regularly for accurate advice based on your unique situation.

Agriculture / FarmPally.com- How Devil's Claw Can End Pains In Dogs by ayufun: 5:13pm On Jan 04, 2019
Family: Pedaliaceae
Clinical Actions: Bitter tonic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic
Energetics: Cool and bitter
Selected Constituents: Iridoid glycosides (harpagoside and harpagide) phenolic glycosides, flavonoids, triterpenes, sterols
Parts Used: Secondary tubers
Used For: Reducing inflammation, especially with
osteoarthritis

Dose: There is a great range of dose with Devil’s Claw, and I tend to start low and work up. Most owners use a standardized extract, and my recommendation if using one of these is start with a 250 mg capsule for a small dog, 500 for a medium and up to 1000 daily for a giant breed dog.

Side effects if giving too much can include diarrhea, but I have yet to see that at these levels.
Many dog lovers are aware of the great value Devil’s Claw has as an anti-inflammatory agent, in osteoarthritis.

But it’s uses go beyond this to include all types of muscle pain, and some forms of digestive upset – although it should not be used with ulcer, it is a bitter tonic and can help dyspepsia and inappetance related to GI upset or chronic pain.

Not THE most versatile herb; just one of the best at what it does. It helps your dog feel better without NSAIDs. It works, and it’s safe. Some drug contraindications apply – cardiac medication and anti-arrythmics in particular, but also anticoagulants; check with your vet if your dog is on any of these.
The Wonders of Devil's Claw
Devil's Claw - the natural anti-inflammatory herb is ideal for stiff joints
in the colder seasons.
Devil's claw is the common name for Harpagophytum procumbens and Harpagophytum zeyheri, which belong to the sesame family. Originally from southern Africa and Madagascar, they are now found in the savannahs and on the outskirts of the Kalahari Desert in South Africa and Namibia.
Medical researchers have found that devil's claw root can reduce inflammation and reduce pain. For thousands of years the Khoisan peoples of the Kalahari Desert have used devil's claw root in remedies for treating pain and complications of pregnancy, and in topical ointments for treating skin problems.
Health care providers use devil's claw root to treat loss of appetite, rheumatism, arthritis, fever, myalgia, tendonitis, gastrointestinal problems, and liver and gallbladder problems.
Devil's claw is also an effective therapy for degenerative musculoskeletal conditions (disorders of locomotive system). It is also used as a pain reliever (analgesic), sedative, and diuretic.
Studies in animals have shown that devil's claw reduces the inflammation associated with arthritis. However, other studies have not demonstrated any anti-inflammatory properties. Devil's claw seems to work differently from most nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Its active compound, harpagoside (or a related compound called harpagide) is changed into another substance inside the body. The new substance, harpagogenin, may be the active ingredient that actually decreases the inflammation associated with arthritis.

Politics / Is The APC Corruption-tag Game On Atiku Over? US Visa Is Allowed by ayufun: 5:53am On Nov 30, 2018
Credit:
Vanguardngr.com/2018/11/2019-buhari-apc-unperturbed-by-u-s-plan-to-restore-atikus-visa-but-lai-mohammed/amp/

President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress federal government is not perturbed over claims and counter claims that the United States of America is begging former Vice President, and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, to come and collect a new visa after many years of denial, which has prevented him from entering that country.

The minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who made the position of the president at a media briefing in his office, however said that in restoring Atiku’s visa, the U.S government should not give Nigeria and the international community the impression that it was tactically supporting one candidate against the other in the forthcoming election.

Mohammed stated that while Nigerians and the world at large had not forgotten various findings and conclusions reached by the U.S Congress in relation to some financial transactions involving the former vice president, which led to the banning of Atiku from entering the country, it would be necessary for the U.S to also explain to the world and Nigeria why it is currently ‘begging Atiku’ to come and collect a visa.

The minister said: “We are not panicking over the claimed plea by the U.S to the PDP presidential candidate to come and collect a U.S visa. Although the U.S has not told us what has changed since the former vice president was investigated by Congress and made some recommendations against him, we want to wish Atiku well. We ask that these issues should not just be wished away by the U.S. But let it be said also that the Nigerian government does not want to see a situation where the U.S is seen to be endorsing one candidate over the other in the 2019 elections.

“If Atiku has a visa to the U.S; since he has been intensely lobbying for it, it would not make us to lose sleep. But countries must not take any action that would tend to give the erroneous impression that they are endorsing one candidate over the other,” Mohammed warned.

The minister also reacting to claims by some persons, led by the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, that there was a ‘fake Buhari’ in the Presidential Villa, described the idea as not only absolute idiotic but also sheer bunkum, which does not require any response from any responsible government or its agencies.

Asked to comment on the recent killing of Nigerian soldiers by Boko Haram insurgents despite the claim that Nigeria had ‘technically degraded’ the sect, the minister insisted that the sect had been degraded to a point that it could no longer hold any territory in Nigeria as it did before Buhari came into power in 2015.

Mohammed pointed out that it was to the credit of the president administration that insurgents were driven out of Abuja and more than 10 local government areas in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states, where Boko Haram not only held court but also collected taxes and hoisted their flags freely.

Describing last week’s attack at Metele as a setback, the minister vowed that the Buhari administration would certainly flush out the insurgents from Nigeria and bring an end to their deadly attacks on far-flung villages and communities in the Northeast.

Mohammed pointed out that the war being waged by the soldiers in the Northeast was complicated because of the involvement of foreign mercenaries and fighters, who cross over from the fringes of Lake Chad into Nigeria and commit atrocities and move.

On the claim that the APC government was detaining opposition figure and closing the media space against its opponents, the minister described it as untrue, pointing out that the administration had no intention to do so.

He denied claim that the government-owned NTA declined to transmit a live event on the Founders’ Day of Atiku Abubakar University in Yola last week, Mohammed made it clear that NTA never entered into any agreement with Atiku or his campaign organisation to transmit the event.

In the contrary, Mohammed explained that it was the management of the AUN, which paid for the transmission and when the NTA, which had already begun the transmission ran into a technical hitch, agreed with the management to record the event and transmit thereafter, a development, which often happens to many others including the president and other Nigerians without political insinuations.

On the arrest and prosecution of a human rights campaigner, Adejanju, the minister said that being a rights campaigner or an opposition member does not confer any immunity on anyone who flouts the laws of Nigeria.

“What Nigerians must and should know is that the law is always there to guide their conducts. So, it does not matter whether you are in government or opposition if you flout the law.

On how the APC won the by-election in Kwara last week, Mohammed disclosed that it was due to the conducive security situation provided by the government for all to cast their votes without molestation by those who had always used thugs to snatch election materials and rig elections in the state.

“We simply want to say that if given a level playing field, we will retire those who had been manipulating election results in Kwara State from politics and make them to know that the peoples power is greater than a certain individual, who uses thugs to molest and cart away election materials and declare results as they like,” the minister said.
