You only need to support your bank account statement with your fixed deposit certificate and a letter of confirmation from your bank that the money will be avaliable to you at short notice. Then explain in a cover letter how you raised the fund for the fixed deposit.

I have never talked about documents, I have always talked about class and account statements. I have never seem anyone that has been granted visa by any Vo without knowing what you do for a living . If your profession doesn't worth anything to the Vo you are likely to get rejected . Nobody should confuse me please . I said ladyG wants us to bring all the documents (packaging ) to get a visa . It's false and I feel scam with it . Visa is granted according to purpose of your trip and your financial capability and lastly personality(your profession) if you do not have a job in Nigeria don't hustle 300k to pay anyone for visa . It's scam .

listen I have never meet LadyG and I'm not quarreling with her . I'm telling everyone the truth . We have no reason to fall for any of scam ,if you are not eligible and don't have any good profession please don't listen to anyone telling you apply USA visa with document. Good day my fellow Nairalander. This is my 1st time of posting here, though I bumped on this forum through google in 2015. Then I was preparing my wife to go and give birth in the US. I couldn't get appointment for her before her due date so we forfeited the #32,000 visa fee we paid and saved the #2million we budgeted for the project.
Fast forward to 2018, I paid another Visa fee for myself and book an appointment for July 2018.
On the the day, I got to the US Lagos Embassy by 7:30(my appointment time) but ended up joining the 10am batch. I went through all the necessary procedures and eventually queue for the interview. I usually have this superstitious believe of avoiding women conducting interview for me. So my prayers was to be interviewed by a man. But alas when it was my turn I realised a white lady was going to interview me. I had 4 people in front of me and under 10 minutes she had refused all of them. ( the fastest was the lady before me -less than a minute, she was asked her destination 3 times but no response -though she was responding but she was not audible at all, due to fear). Then I heard Next! I move confidently to her cubicle.

Vo: continue typing for what looks like eternity and me I just rested on the cubicle for support... meanwhile people were just been refused left and right..
She paused and looked left and right...:the blue paper was at the right hand and white at the left hand...and picked the white paper and circle the address to pick up my visa. I wasn't hearing what she was saying cause I was overjoyed in my heart...just pick up the paper and thanked her.

This is my first time and I have always been praying that I should get the visa at my first attempt and God answered.

My advice are:
*One should followed this Nairaland properly, read through and digest.
*be organised and prepared.
*Dress well
*Be confident and polite
*and lastly be honest especially with your occupation.

1. Call your brother and ask him, how he got into the US, did he use a tourist visa and overstay, did he do a sham marriage for a green-card, those are some good questions to ask.

2. How did you meet your husband (to the wife). This might have to do again with your brother's case, maybe he arranged a sham marriage with an American. Again talk with your brother.

3. Your brother in the US, is a tie to the US. So you need greater ties to Nigeria.

4. Again, talk to your brother.

This embassy people are just eating our money for no reason.
Trust me those VOs are really heartless except for one young lady that stays in window 9 in Abuja embassy.
The man is window 8 uses just 15 seconds to give out pink while the woman in window 9 takes time to listen to you. She gave out to 75% of the people she interviewed while that man gave like 5% only.
My interview was on the 13th of September that's two days ago.
Before 13th other students going for this same competition about 3 that were lucky to go to window 9 were given visa. After the first the two Ddnt even need to talk much immediately they mentioned the competition the woman gave them the white print. Other students that went to window 6,7 and 8 were denied instantly. So Sept 13th we were 15 students from different schools that had interview that day. Lucky a student had gone in very early he was lucky to get window 9 he got his visa. So it was remiaining the 14 of us. We were interviewed around 11. Unluckily the woman in window 9 wasn't on seat anymore. So we were shared to different windows. I was given window 7 which had a black American.

Me: I told her bla bla bla. Told her I was in final year currently working on my final year project (note this is supposed to be something that will bring me back cos a friend of mine got his visa last year because of the project he mentioned he was working on)

Vo: can u explain it to me?
Me: I explained everything
Vo: who's sponsoring?
Me: I told her and I handed her the letter from the organization and the bank statement (last year I was rejected after handing the bank statement to the VO in Lagos cos it was as if the money in the account was too small to take care of 15 students that were going last year)
Vo: (looking surprised cos the money in the account was very big) why would they give you such a confidential bank statement. Don't u know this is very confidential, was there not a better way of them to do this?
Me: (looking surprised at the question she's asking because she seeing the bank statement is supposed to tell her I won't be stranded in US, but because she Ddnt want to give me the visa and had no question to ask again she asked that) that's the bank statement from the organization it's a prove of the organization sponsoring.
Vo: (thinks for like a minute) then gives me the pink print
All this while other VOs have already rejected other of my guys going by asking them questions like are u married? Said no and he was given pink print.
I had the longest interview
I feel nothing disqualified me they just ddnt want to give to us.
It was so painful to the organization
I will advice anyone going to Abuja embassy to avoid window 6 and 8. Window 9 woman is the best. Very generous

before you appeal what is the reason for your refusal ? you dont need their email , you will go to their office in ikoyi and submit your application again but this time you will not submit your passport if they accept your appeal they will call for your passport .

I recently had my interview, my intention was to give birth in Texas, so we applied as a Family, we were 5 in number(my hubby, me, my mum and my two kids) I decided to take my mum along to assist me over there with my 19months toddler and also when the baby is born (it would have been her first time of traveling with us eventhough she has travelled to Ghana twice). Our bank statement was way more than our budget.

20k USD may seem like an over the top budget to you. Per American standard without health insurance 20k no reach to born and take care of 5 people inclusive feeding , accommodation, shopping/vacationing.

If it was just just you, it may have been a 50-50. The fact the VO was standing, sitting, eating, you were the last or first person of the day doesn't have anything to do with the denial. There are people who have been approved and they were the last applicant still in building after closing time

congrat , someone will say they are not interested if you have money in the account or not , i have never seen anyone that will go for interview and the vo will not ask about your profession , that is even the basic question but LadyG will stil be talking from both side of her mouth because she was privileged to get USA visa one time

hmm. are you sure? because from their refusal letters that i have seen, they always include a France address to forward it to.

since you know all these why are you asking here . i said present your reasons with your letter both in french and english then go to france embassy office and submit not vfs . dont include your passport when they grant your appeal they will call you .fullstop

Go to their office in ikoyi and resubmit the letters and the documents, don't put your passport. If your appeal is granted they will call for your passport
