Truely, the average Nigerian's purchasing power has increased. When i was younger "Tokunbo" cars were the order of the day but nowadays, cars bought brand new are plentiful on the streets. There is a growing population of self employed middle class. If you are currently under employment, you won't belive this but your boss and his friends certainly will. If you don't belive the economy is getting better you certainly will get left behind too. |
Why? At least the V8 BMW M3 engine should be on the list. |
Must be due to the auto gearbox that go wrong. Thank God mine's manual transmission and I'm loving every min of using it. Very cheap to maintain, parts are cheap too and available. |
Adequate Education and Enforcement of existing laws will ensure that attitudinal change in no time. Pick out scapegoats and deal with them in the full glare of their followers. Annointing also flows from the top so our leaders have their roles to play in realizing all this than paying lip service. |
State creation has never solved any Nigerian problem execept swell the political class so I'll pass on that. Real change starts from within a individual, that's why there's d saying "If you want to change the world/Nigeria start with yourself". |
A friend of mine that stays in Magodo GRA just showed me their monthly bill of N 40,000. They claimed tarrif had been increased and they're working with an estimate. They still have so more sacking of corrupt officials to do. |
virtuoso01: No, its actually Jason Statham and Jet Li. Rambo and Commando are now Old School. Those two you mentioned don't fight wars. Maybe I'm getting old school sha. |
odum desmond: Besides that Achebe in all his writings has never failed to clearly show the nature of an Igbo man, so he has got nothing to hide. Remember Okonkwo in "Things Fall Apart" was a very proud man who wouldn't want to be seen as weak like his father Unoka. He even out of pride of not appearing as feeble to his collegues on that mission killed Ikemefuna, the boy who called him father as decreed by the gods! That a real story of the Igbos! Pride is somwhow good, it is pride that make ibos have less number of beggars like our northern brothers, no ibo man out of pride wants to be the gateman to his fellow ibo man or shoe shinner, it takes pride and courage to take on the rest of the country in a 30months war when our Yoruba brothers cowardly accepted ministry of finance post than declare Oduduwa Republic as agreed by Awo after his release from prison by same Ojukwu. It takes courage and pride to conquer home and abroad with ibo enterprising minds! Don't u see ibos are good at anything they do whether good or bad. Ibo criminals are better organised, more daring than the rest, lol, ibo brains are stil the best black brains in the USA and Europe from where we exported the Philips Emegwahli's of this world and the rest. Hate or love them, Nigeria with the help of Russia n jetfighters and the diplomatic sale of Bakassi peninsula had to fight Ndigbo for 30months just to ensure they don't dump Nigeria, am sure if any group seeks to break away today nobody will bother except ndigbo. Call me unapologetic ibo chauvinist and I will answer you without any fearI'm not sure about these facts of yours but i gotta give respect to the Igbo importer and exporters. |
ebere1712: We should know when our pride makes other people sad and desist from showing off. It attracts unfounded hatred. That is acceptable in Alaigbo but not everywhere else. If we are proud (and rightfully so), remember that others may see it as domination and react violently. You should read up what the book of proverbs in the bible says about "pride" before glorifying it. I'm sure u're a Christian. |
To the Igbo people in the house, I'm Yoruba but i think finger pointing should end and you guys collectively develop a plan to economically and politically liberate your region. The western region isn't crying for Oduduwa republic but ACN is already trying to unify the west. Lagos and Ogun state already have a joint development plan and it can include other states in the future since they are of the same party. Talk time is over, time for action!!! |
WAR!!!!
Do you think its "Rambo" and "Commando" we're talking about? |
Did he really say this Words have life and they can either create or destroy. So far, these utterances are destroying the thin fabric of unity we have in this country. |
To the Igbos in the house, If Nigerians appologized to the Igbo race on what transpired during the civil war would it appease you all? How about a blueprint to realize a united eastern region by the creation or empowerment of an existing political party that would be an embodiment of all the Igbo ideals and core values. By electing Governors of this party into power in the eastern region, it would ensure political unity and a stronger voice in the affairs of the country. This would be similar to what ACN is trying to do in the west and the east can also replicate this. |
demmie1: it will be best if Nigeria get weaker, it would allow the regions to rise up and challenge the behemoth holding everybody.downAre you aware that people die in large numbers during military confrontations?? I'm sure you do, the only reason you're talking like this is b'cos you never witnessed one. From those who have, they never want to again.....Execpt you're one of those internet warriors in foreign countries wishing unrest on your country. I'll soon open a thread exposing that group of Nigerians. |
Abali1: ba7man,I'll definitely do that, putting in the possibility of propaganda in mind. Seems the stories i hear are kind of one sided, I would like to hear Ojukwu's side of the story. Every man has a reason for his actions and inactions. |
abouzaid: in that case, u were never here to learn. Good night and sweet dreams.I'v read a lot of books on warfare and I'm trying to arrive at where Biafra got it wrong, what allowed them play into Nigeria's hands regarding the blockade. These two points....(1) Inadequate protected supply routes and (2) inadequate Allies....,Ojukwu should have sorted this two out before making the move. |
Abali1: Please provide me the link where it was stated that( those relief) planes where carrying weapons. If am correct, it was INSINUATED that weapons was also brought into Biafra by the relief agencies/planes.You're right about propaganda being a weapon of war. Nigeria played their own sleazy tricks during the war no doubt but Ojukwu should have done his homework before embarking on that route. He knew that Nigeria still controlled important supply lines and he should have thot of a solution to that. |
abouzaid: it's funny u failed to read up that food supplies were being flied into biafra till d end of d war.inshort biafra was flying in both food till end of d war, it's laughable that u said that nigeria could not penetrate d biafra airspace. Pls read up on d russian m16 and their egyptian pilots. I'm busy now, talk laterI only read about the ones Ojukwu rejected, Correction, I said Nigerian forces couldn't penetrate the Biafran territory for a good duration of the war not the Biafran airspace. |
sleek29: Yes Nigeria didn't fight fair, but Ojukwu had zero military intellect, he ended up being disgraced and sent 3M people to their graves, how do you go into a war without proper study of how you intend to feed your people if you depend on 1. Nigerian airspace, 2. Nigerian waterways for your supplies, allies are very important, the least he could have done was to be sure he could count on cameroon, america wouldn't be able to do anything in the middle east if they don't have the likes of pakistan and saudi arabia. Fine Nigerian government lead my Gowon caused the genocide but Ojukwu is very much culpable for being all bragging and no planningI so agree with you. Truely, Nigeria played dirty but food supply and allies are essential factors of warefare and Ojukwu ignored this and 3 million people paid the price. I have reached a conclusion, thank you. |
abouzaid: guy ur really sounding ignorant and asking for an ewar, u should read about the genesis of hunger in biafra. The first place kwashiokor occured was at asaba under general murtala muhammed. That place is not biafra but the ppl were igbos, u should also read about d genocide he committed there. Mind u they are nigerians not biafrans. Any more ignorant post from u, and u would recieve d flak ur asking forSomeones getting angry....nyways, the Nigerian troops had the habit of destroying farmlands so that resulted in the unavailability of food. My gripe is why fly in weapons only when u can also fly in food. At least I'v provided evidence that flights could enter via Cameroon. Provide me with counter points not telling me I'm ignorant, I don't think Igbo people are insultive, haughty and think people are below them but u r starting to play by that book. |
abouzaid: my friend in all honesty u don't sound like an unbiased scholar, and ur really shallow on d facts of d civil war. Educating u would need reading a lot of books, saying nigeria should fly in food through cameroon is d most ignorant post of d yr so far. Also at d time of session, nigeria have no air force pilots while biafra have both indigenous and friendly pilots, u should read up on how nigeria gained air superiority, red cross planes were actually shot down over biafra territory, read up. Biafra was invaded so stop saying that they started d war. If u know little then stop posting till u know better.I just read it up. Flights entered Biafra from Portugal via Guinea Bissau and Cameroon carrying weapons.I also read it up that planes were shot at in the Nigerian. Airspace not Biafra since Nigerian forces could not penetrate effectively. Thank God for Google. |
Mcdondayan: My brother go and read again. Why do you think Nigeria lost Bakassi to Cameroon? When you find the answer, come back.I'm back again ooo......Funny how planes were bringing in weapons but no food. Looks like a case of misplaced priority. And there was no total blockade, read these excerpts." The Biafrans were swift to understand the importance of air power and to start organizing a rag-tag air force, as well as using transport aircraft for bringing supplies of weapons into the country. Regular flights of Air Trans Africa DC-7s from South Africa were undertaken already since the summer of 1966: other aircraft operated from Portugal, via Portuguese Guinea (today Guinea-Bissau), and Cameroon. In October 1966, for example, a Royal Air Burundi DC-4M Argonaut, flown by a mercenary Henry Wharton alias Heinrich Wartski, crash landed at Garoua, in Cameroun.... |
I'm back. Been reading up on the Biafran Civil war on Google. True, a blockade was effected but why did Ojukwu reject the aids when they were later allowed in?? He seemed more concerned about securing planes for his bombing campaign and weapons. At that point, he was detached from the realities of the war. He was more adept at leading troops. I also confirmed it that it was the Nigerian Airspace that aids was attempted to be delivered to Biafra. Ojukwu should have worked out an alternate route through Cameroon (An option that's glaring) since France was sympathetic to the Biafran cause. Ojukwu was probably too focused on the war front to realize his people were dying. |
Abali1: This is why I believe that NIGERIAN CIVIL WAR should be included in our secondary school curriculum.I'm here to learn too nd I'm seeing another side to this whole thing. But are you sure the whole international community would have agreed to sit back and watch Awo carry out the total blockade? Biafra had allies too and they supplied weapons, why not food too? |
gboss4sure: Nigeria was not providing food. They banned airplanes going to biafra from flying over Nigerian airspace because Food and Aids were flown to Biafra from portugual, France and Gabon and they had to fly over Nigerian Airspace. So say what you can defend and don't say what you don't knowOOOhhhhh.....So Biafra was aware that their supply planes were still at the mercy of Nigerian airspace and expected Nigeria to allow them use it C'mon. Even the United states will bomb all supply lines, road, rail, airports etc during wars. Its warefare, its only logical. Why did it have to be Nigerian airspace they must use?? The sky is big enough for a billion alternate routes, what of the sea?? See?? I'm reasoning here not arguing blindly. |
My conclusion is this: Ojukwu might have had noble intentions in carrying out the war but it was ill planned and hurriedly executed. He should have inspired the region to become self reliant and be able to sucessfully exist without Nigeria before declaring Biafra. This process would have taken time but it would have been sure.....instead,it was hurriedly executed when knowing that the enemy you chose to fight still supplies you food. He's got you by the balls before the fight started without you even knowing it. The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. |
Pls, someone should fill in the blank. Its the responsibility of the Nigerian Government to feed the Nigerian populace during the civil war, therefore it is the responsibility of the ______________ Government to feed the Biafran populace during the war. Pls, honestly answer this in your minds before you comment. |
But Logically, I need someone to prove me wrong. If Biafra had declared independence from Nigeria during the war its no longer Nigeria's responsibility to provide food and what not to the region. I'm not supporting what was done but Feeding the populace was supposed to be the responsibility of the Biafran Government. Pls, am i wrong?? You are fighting a perceived enemy and you're still feeding them. |
