2sexy: Bro, Naija people are yet to wake up.
Many are more serious about their looks, latest dance e.g Azonto, Atlanta, they want to enjoy right now instead of the other way round. I used to tell people that I do not need 1 million to be a millionaire. Just give me 500k and watch me built it into millions. Are you financially intelligent enough? some even go as far as attributiing riches to luck... i LAFF!
True talk my sis, I just finished having a conversation with two young men. They just came up with a brilliant idea and can't wait till 2morrow to start preparations, a lady in my house just started a home delivery service and she workin hard to meet demand. People are making money my sis.

Even if your employer pays you a million naira, at the end of the year that's 12 million naira which is much but its somthing you can can make or far more in my field from a single project. I'd rather wait on those kind of jobs and develop myself while waiting so when it finally comes I'll have the capacity to handle it. I know how much my ex-boss made from projects I supervised for him and no matter how much he got my paltry salary remained the same....well, at least i have the experience now.

With the bad economic situation and unemployment, people are gettin rich around me while some people are giving excuses why its not possible. I'm not rich yet but i know I'm on the right path and i know the type of people i want to surround myself with. Right now, I'm idle but I'v been readin books, planning and i'll even follow a sucessful man i know around to assist him all for free....jus to get more experience, advice and to observe how he conducts his business. I do this for a month and you think i won't be smarter? Pls, knowledge is the key. Develop a skill of value and people will pay you to solve their problems.

Self employment is for men and women of steel. If u know you can't withstand the pressure stay in paid employment.......which opportunities are reducing by the day. If only you know how unmoved entrepreneurs are when they hear about workers being laid off.
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: What's The Current Unemployment Rate In Nigeria? by ba7man(m): 3:23pm On Oct 01, 2012
Mehn, the comments some people post online ehn....Self employment is the way ooo....
I know guys that were into digital photography in school(how much is a camera that 3 ppl can't save and buy??) They were already in millions by the time they graduate and are into property development now.
A friend of mine during a strike period in school learnt carpentry, he bought used power tool with his allowance and you really need to see the creative things he sells now.
Another friend of mine studied engineering. He sent himself thru school by workin on sites as supervisor and now he collects jobs costing millions. He's built his own house, married, bought a car 4 his dad, himself and his wife.....and he just turned 29.
I don't choose mediocre people around me, I surround myself with what I want to see...Honest sucessful people who started small and grew into sucess. I'm motivated when I'm with them. N.B: I have many more oooo.....Under 20 sef and some grown men nd women will come here and start discouraging people. A lot of people need re-orientation.

I started mine with a skill I possessed and phone call credit to inform elderly people around me to spread the word.....and i haven't looked back since.

The culprit is the Nigerian educational system that teaches us to be seekers of employment rather than creators of employment. Knowledge acquisition is rarely dynamic in this country, where you can see Lacturers using books from the 70's to teach when the world had moved on over 30years ago. Imagine teaching Architectural students Fotran 77 when they'd rather be better off learning how to use 3-D softwares and Auto-Caad.

I felt bad the day i lost my job...but i gathered a few of my friends that were good at what they did and we started our own small company. Now when we have a job to execute we hire people based on contract. Sometimes there's money and somtimes its tight but i have my peace of mind that no employer can intimidate or fire me and i control my time.

madridsta007: If you recognise that there is a problem, it is only then that you can be able to confidently seek for solutions. Unfortunately many of us live in the delusional fool's paradise believing that there is no problem at all.
you are right though, but I don't really agree that some people belive there is no problem except they are reaping off the current situation the country is in.

sorry, didn't read this post, true, we should outline the problems and try to effect solutions.

To simplify my point, We complain about the cost of Governing this country and how our senators, legislators and governors with their ministries loot the country blind and some people are still proposing state creation to increase their numberhuh As a matter of fact, the number of states should b reduced nationwide. We need good leaders not states.

More examples: A 19yr old guy nd his friends I know come together to organize a party charging people that attend. Was present while they were counting the gate takings and it was over a million that night alone. 19-20 year olds oooo....., A 22 year old guy already talkin about doin video coverage of shows and parties, packaging it and searching for a program on TV that can give him a 5min slot. Soon, he'll be paid to cover shows and he can attract sponsors. Not even 25 yet. A gurl that's just turning 24yrs old that's already organizing classes on craftmaking and she's making money. If you ask them about the country's situation, I'm sure their answers will be positive.

@ Shaw 007. God bless you. Nigeria is heading for a bright future and if u can't catch that vision now, you'll b left behind. Some can sit where they are and complain..."The country is bad....Governtment did not give us food etc". While young students under 20 are already building sucessful fashion brands, know a young guy under 30 that sells palm slippers and exports them too, some with thriving fish farms when back in school, a friend that works at LIRS during the week and is a sucessful events photographer during weekends....the list is endless. We should decide what we want to do with our lives rather than complain, its old news that our government is messed up.
Nigeria @ 52 We have achieved so much in 52 years.. We as a country have stayed together despite our clear and ever present differences.. We survived a civil war that sought to tear us apart, we overcame military rule that had held us bound and captive for years.. Many people may see the bads but on this occasion of our independence, I have chosen to focus on the good.. In 13 years of democracy, we have moved a great distance from where we were under military rule.. Today its clear that the military is gone for good.. Nigeria @ 52, I see hope.. A bright future on the horizon.. A greater tomorrow. I see this country returning to the glory days once more.. I donsee Boko haram.. In a country of 158 million people, they are so minor, they are insignificant.. I believe in Nigeria now more than ever.. All our present problems are the fire we have to survive to get to where we want..

Happy Independence to all patriotic Nigerians around the world.. Rome wasn't built in a day.. In the end, we shall overcome..
If majority of Nigerians reason like this, this country will definitely be a better place to live.....not whinning and complaining bout problems they have no desire to solve.

ehie: I worked with a foreign company that came here to invest, they provided Jobs, paid their tax and in all respect, did their part in developing the Nigerian economy, should I tell you about the running battles they had with the Immigration, even when their papers were all in order, constant harrasment, intimidation bodering on blackmlail for legimate bussiness..was it the police, that saw Oyibo as white skin vomitting money, was it area boys that hounded them or was their own workers who would steal from them constantly.or was it the thousands they spent on NEPA...i wondered how long they managed to survive with so much working against them
You have a point there. Its actually Nigerians that make Nigeria what it is. My friend has been defrauded by a pastor, its that bad. Then when companies run out we ask "Why"??....and start screaming "Federal Government". But companies lyk MTN and IBTC Chatered are recording profit in the same environment. Its not only our leaders that can stop corruption, we citizens also have our part to play. God Bless Nigeria.
Politics › Re: Ekwueme: Additional State In S’east, A National Imperative by ba7man(m): 8:10pm On Sep 30, 2012
PointB: The problem with regionalism is getting every part of the country on board. The (core) North will not agree to it and they will use their numeric advantage in the NA, bestowed upon them by successive military regime, to block such move. The only counter-measure to this is get some of the North Central states on board such plans. Additional states in the South (East) is also crucial in balancing the political odds necessary to achieve regionalism.

Broadly speaking, Ekueme is very much on point here.
I feel your point bruv but i always feel there's a way around it. Regional state Governments can come together to form alliances with the sole aim of initiating joint projects to generate employment and boost the region's economy. Large scale mechanized farming is a no-brainer, the options are limitless. When i hear companies leaving Nigeria i see it as an oportunity for a home grown company to replace them. Co-operation between regional Governors should be encouraged. State Creation has never solved any problem.

The question we should be asking is "What have i done as a Nigerian to make my country better at 52"??....I see progress (Even though its largely from the private sector) it could be better though. I Know young self made entrepreneurs(all under 30) that have been able to build sucessful businesses and they employ people. The citizens are more aware and rather than wait for the Government to spoon feed them are already rallying round themselves to make things happen. There's this saying that goes thus "Don't complain about somthing you have no plans of doing anything about. The easiest job in the world is to Criticize. As for me, I'm off to develop a solution to a problem in Nigeria that people will want to pay for me to solve.
