I must say, I've never seen someone claim two things to be equal, all the while outlining, without fail, at least one of the qualities that undermine the equality of the very things they vehemently claim to be equal.

That's quite true. Equality usually refer to a state when things are the same in some particular way not all ways, apart from Arithmetics/Mathematics I don't think there's any place where the application/use of "Equality" is truly "equal".

Yep, quite the scene, although a bad way to go. It was surreal.

I hope some how you will find a way to get the migraines under control soonest.

The logic in your second paragraph is flawed, not true, and their are gradations on every sound device to highlight it. It is not the audio output mechanism itself that changes, but the higher voltage, watts, amplitude fueling it as you turn up the dial, thus translating to higher decibels and making it a progressively louder sound experience. Fortunately, it's an easily experienced phenomenon, by simply putting on a pair of headphones and listening to something from the lowest to the highest you can get it. The change in intensity or frequency you experience makes all the difference, hence 10dB is not equal to 20dB, 40dB, and certainly not 100dB, etc. Our ears, limited as they are, pick up on the changes occuring at the electrical level.

So, you believe a person may actually deserve fines, imprisonment, or even death, for speech, and is to be tried in court for expressing disbelief, disdain, desacrilization, or criticism of an ideology not their own? Wowzers.

Did 10dB, 20dB and 100dB have anything in common ?

10dB, 20dB and100dB, are all a measure of the vibration that propagates as an audible
mechanical wave of pressure and
displacement, they only represents variations (increase/decrease) in the vibration and wave pressure. And here's a more simpler parable; one litre of water is only different from two litres of thesame water only in volume (quantity). And a person that murders one person is called "A murderer" likewise a person that murder 100.

Lol, may be to you religion is an "Ideology" but to us it's not only an Ideology but a set of beliefs, feelings, dogmas and practices that define the relations between human being and sacred or divinity. So I believe a person deserves a punishment for this kind of action, and I believe in the punishment prescribed by the sharia and agree with that prescribed by the State/Federal laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Um, life? Whether they like it or not, one will hear things they do not wish to hear throughout the course of their life. And so?

Are you aware the common usage for the word "barbaric" is for what you term the "heavy meaning"? I'd also like you to notice the contrast in your statements (bold and red) on that which you first clearly differentiate as heavy and light in meaning, but in the same breathe, soon attempt to equate the two, essentially by asserting that the heavy now = the light, and thus, the action (light) equals the reaction (heavy).

So, which is it? Because it cannot be both. Either there is a differentiation between the light and heavy meaning, or there isn't, thereby making them unequal.

So, due process? That's the difference between the mob and yourself? That an authority should've carried out the killing for her actions, if wanting, and not a mob, or anyone else? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah the common usage is the heavy meaning.

There's no contrast in what I said, they're equal but different in intensity, just like you turning the volume of your Tv set from 10 to may be 100. The difference in intensity will not make them unequal just like the increase in volume of your tv set will not change the audio output you are listening to.

Yea that's the difference btw me and the mob, I don't know if the penalty for her action is a death sentence or not, but I would have agree with whatever the verdict of the court is, be it acquittal, Fine, Imprisonment, death sentence; whatever the law says.

I can't remember the last time I caught cold, but I figure with migraines and insomnia it's leveled, somewhat. No, not really. I'd prefer colds, lol. I guess a place with nice weather all year round would suit you best.

Well, traffic pretty much sums up most of what we saw. We didn't have very much time. Times Square, limited time spent at the Museum of Modern Art (would've preferred the Museum of Natural History myself), and a whole bunch of restaurants in Manhattan, Harlem, and Brooklyn. Yep, mostly streets and eats.

The traffic was terrible, actually. We landed on a busy Friday afternoon, and the first thing we witnessed along our grueling drive to the hotel was a white van combusting in traffic. Literally went up in flames right before our eyes, and caught on video as I was documenting the drive.

I don't use to have migraines but insomnia lots of it especially when am less busy. Yeah I've got a nice place with a nice weather all year round in Northestern part of Naija but I can only visit there on vacation or when I wanted to runaway from the hectic and busy life of my city.

Woo a combusting Van in traffic what a scene it would have been. With all the NYPD and famous NYC Fire department.

Hearing that which you do not want to hear can be described by a listener as unsavory or, at worst, insulting to their personally held ideology. It cannot be called barbaric. Now, the listener slaughtering said speaker for not holding in sanctity that which they hold in sanctity, that, that is barbaric and downright maniacal.

You were attempting to equalize the action and the reaction, as you referred to it, for reasons best known to you, likely due to a shared sanctity. But simple logic and whatever humanity you have in you reject the idea, and deep down you know them not to be, which is why you at least admitted they had no right.

It's food for thought, and something to stew in...

Lol, How can you then describe the act of saying to someone that which he do not want to hear.

"Likely due to shared sanctity" Yeah I share same sanctity but I do not equate the Action and Reaction ( as I referred to it) due to that shared sanctity.

It can be called barbaric because to my little knowledge words may have a heavy and a lighter meaning (or simple and complex meanings). Here's a meaning from dictionary.com

barbaric/bɑːˈbarɪk/
adjective
1. savagely cruel.
2. primitive; unsophisticated.

The first meaning is a "heavy meaning" while the second is a lighter one.

This one is from Merriam-webster dictionary

Simple Definition of barbaric
:
of or relating to barbarians
:
very rude or offensive : not polite or proper
:
very cruel

Source: Merriam-Webster's Learner's Dictionary.

So what she said was very rude, offensive, not polite and not proper. So according to this simple definition I am right to equate both the Action and the Reaction as barbaric.

Hmmm I like the way u like taking a walk into someone's mind trying to decipher their hidden thoughts by considering their expressed thoughts, but I admitted they were not right not because "whatever humanity I have left in me reject the idea of their equality", but because I don't believe in " jungle justice", administering justice is the exclusive right of the state not individuals or groups, we have laws ( Both Penal and Sharia codes ) in the North so her penalty should have been decided by one of the courts not by mobs. I still believe both the Action and the Reaction are condemn-able.

Logically, you cannot possibly put her actions on the same plane as theirs by referring to both as barbaric. That she spoke ill of Islam, does not give them the right to murder.

Things that are barbaric , are uncivilized and brutal. What she did was uncivilized, yeah they have no such right, but out here people think otherwise that's why even the authorities tend to tred carefully when dealing with such kind of incidents one miss step and things can escalate and go out of control.

I suspect that you are either a northerner or a Muslim apologist but I have just one question for you.

What ACTION would be enough for YOU to justify a REACTION to kill a human being who didn't kill or harm anybody?

I am both ( A Muslim and a Northerner ).

I am not justifying what they did and not in support of it, this kind of events have been happening in the North for many decades with this type of jungle justice mated upon the offender, so the only sure way to stop it, is to make those that trigger the reaction to desist from such actions. My call is to condemn both the ACTION and REACTION not only the reaction. So that in future all this can/will be avoided.

What most Christians don't seem to appreciate about the Northern Muslims is the fact that they hold their religion dearly and consider it scared and their prophet more so, it happened more than once with thesame results, if you live in the North you can't touch their religion/prophet and go scout free, even the British invaders ( colonialist ) were left with no option but to rule the North through their Emirs ( Indirect rule; bc as Christians if they rule directly there would had been chaos) and never interfere with their religion.

The REACTION was barbaric but what of the ACTION that lead to the REACTION ?

Therefore, as we collectively condemn the barbaric reaction we ought to also condemn the barbaric action so that in the future the barbaric action will not be repeated by any person and this will prevent such a barbaric reaction.

But that's late 60°F, early 70's. That's great weather in my book! I don't like anything past the early 80's myself for warm weather, or anything below 0°F for cold, everything in between is fairly OK to great.

It was much nicer and more bearable during the day, except for the tourist littering you couldn't really see at night ruining the aesthetic of the city, esp in certain parts, during the day. grin

But some of it was very picturesque.

There was a CVS pharmacy with a green dome, looking like a Masjid, right across the street from the earlier mentioned Bar & Grill, Black Tap.

The next morning, we saw a painting of an African lady on a building across the street from Bubby's Highline, a restaurant we were brunching outside.

But, our hotel "view", it consisted of a giant, life-sized reminder of the possibility of getting run over by heavy NY traffic. grin

60-90°F is my ideal range of tolerance, anything above 90 or below 60 then colds will set in, its normal to catch cold at low temperatures but for me same happens at high temperatures. I see you are awed by the NYC's traffic, so the stories I use to hear about the "Big Apple's" traffic is not an exaggeration after all.

A lot of times, I'll pop a pill when I know I'm going on a long shopping trip due to getting migraines from being too sensitive to the fluorescent lighting. At work, when things get to be too much, I switch off the lights in one of the conference rooms and take a break in complete and utter darkness. Sometimes, getting a scalp massage from someone helps. I'm not good about taking supplements or OTC medication on the reg, and as far as migraine meds are concerned, the side-effects are too costly, and the pills gargantuan. I will always have migraines, I think.

I'll def have to take something with me the next time 'round. IDK why I underestimated, there's a lot going on. All of the lights...

shocked For someone sensitive to fluorescent lightning all this lightning most be intimidating, and I guess we all have soft/weak points when it comes to sensitivity. I am very sensitive to low temperatures anything below 20 degrees Celsius.

Man, but life...you don't even know.

Still, thank you, walaal. I'm fine. I hope you are too.

Guess what, tho? I finally got to visit NYC, and tho it was only for a couple of days and I didn't get to do much, or see all I wanted, it was def exciting/interesting still. Man, but it's shocking the sheer number of people that are all over the place, going every which way at all times. And people actually wait outside eateries, in lines, for hours, to get food.

Our first night there, we headed for an Instagram-famous Bar and Grill called Black Tap, which was quite a ways more walking distance from our hotel than we'd first realized. After much walking with not-for-walking shoes on, mind you, along some crazy un-even sidewalks, we arrived at the destination. Would you believe there was a line that went down and legit curled around the block, and that at the entrance stood two bouncers, like it was a goddammed club or something?

We actually thought the line (and bouncers) was for an Irish club next door, so we moved through it, at which point one of said towering bouncer duo deftly stopped us and told us he'd really love to let us through, but that there's a line, so Mr-Definitely-On-Roids proceeded to kick/walk us out all the way along the end of the block for what I'm sure looked, rather embarrassingly, to the audience like a failed we're-too-hot-for-lines stunt, feening for a number all the while.

We stood in that line for TWO hours, almost leaving every 10 mins, but hanging in there for fear of lost time without gain. When we finally got in there, I had myself an outrageously-priced shake-candy structure thing that I would best describe as "MEH" in taste. By then, I had gotten my first migraine of many more to come and couldn't even eat. And that was my first New York experience!

All the lights, noise and commotion of the city; my senses were relentlessly overwhelmed and epic migraines were had. I fear, inside, I am an old woman. It's definitely ruled out as a place to live, but I need to revisit, for sure. Substantially, this time.

Sounds like an Adventure, hopefully no "epic migraines" next time you visit.

The Muslims claim christianity was founded by Paul in Damascus. But the New testanment thru Paul was founded by Jesus. The Son of God gave the inspiration to Paul to bring people together and preach the synoptic gospels to them. When many didn't accept and sent Paul to Jail, it was then several Miracles being performed led most people back to christendom. It's a long story... can't say all as I'm running out now.

Pope Urban, did you read why he acted so?

What kind of miracles ?

yea I read why he acted thus.

" On November 27, 1095, Pope Urban II makes perhaps the most influential speech of the Middle Ages, giving rise to the Crusades by calling all Christians in Europe to war against Muslims in order to reclaim the Holy Land, with a cry of “Deus vult!” or “God wills it!”

So you see your God also orders his children to fight on his behalf. The Christians were pressurised by Muslims and that was what resulted in the crusades, thesame thing that is happening to Muslims today, but still a true Muslim leader is yet to call for Jihad. Those that are calling and fighting are the corrupt Islamic sects, that's why they don't spare even Muslims that do not follow their thinking and actions.

A true Religion where the divine would ask his followers to be at war all the time isn't a religion to me but a movement. I want you to be reasonable here.
Christians after the conquest of certain civilizations, lands and the rest, have you ever heard we ever been to war again for any reason? Let's be frank here, what would even prompt Jehovah to send his followers to Chaos??

Let me show you somewhere in the same Exodus in the bible (the old Testament you muslims make reference to all the time) you do remember the Israelis spent a number of years working for Pharaoh and Egypt, when it was time to go, God himself stood up and fought for his children and this is remembered today, haven't you read that?

Allah is supposed to protect not drive you to war.
As you mentioned above who asked the Christians to fight certain civilizations lands and the rest ? Or Was the god absent or was not abled to fight that wars that's why he asked his beloved children to fight in his stead ?

What of the fight between Goliath and David why did God allowed them to fight for him ? Or In all the cases I mentioned the fights were for material world not for the Lord.

Even by your admission in this exegesis, you have proven allahh to be a petty blood thirsty god. Or why should an almighty God be interested in retaliation? What happened to forgiveness and even doing good to our enemies like the Son of God preached? Retaliation is a crude basic instinct that humans have and you don't need a god to instruct you to. But to forgive is divine and of higher spiritual value. So in effect what you are telling us is that your allahh is not as spiritually mature as a good christian who follows Jesus teachings of forgiveness.

Forgiveness is for those that confess and mend their ways even in Christianity. If retaliation is for humans alone why would your God have a hell and wait for sinner to go back to him to be tortured and burned ?

If your God is truly spiritually mature and forgiving, then I donot have to be a Christian to be forgiven by him, bc he is mature enough and forgiving enough to know that I am weak and fragile.

Most Christians failed to understand that Islam have both spiritual, social, economic and political ways, that's why it's a way of life not only a religion unlike Christianity of today which consists of the spiritual part only.

Now from Christ to when Muhammed was born was 600 years, meaning 6 generations.

So  turn  away  from  him  who  has  given  up  Our  mention and  only  desires  the  patient  life.’

Now this part Moh'd refers to himself as a godhead

Now you can see it's been proved Mohammed =Allah

These several Billions of people are worshipping a Human being in the name of a god.

U need to go back and start reading from verse 25 down to verse 29 only then you will know verse 29 is referring to Allah (SWT). Or let me help you out

25. But to Allah belongs the last (Hereafter) and the first (the world).

26. And there are many angels in the heavens, whose intercession will avail nothing except after Allah has given leave for whom He wills and pleases.

27. Verily, those who believe not in the Hereafter, name the angels with female names.

28. While they have no knowledge thereof. They follow but a guess, and verily, guess is no substitute for the truth.

29. Therefore withdraw (O Muhammad ) from him who turns away from Our Reminder (this Qur'an) and desires nothing but the life of this world.
Donot quote ignorantly please.

Quoran 9:29-30Fight those who do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day and who do not consider unlawful what Allah and His Messenger have made unlawful and who do not adopt the religion of truth from those who were given the Scripture - [fight] until they give the jizyah willingly while they are humbled.

The Jews say, "Ezra is the son of Allah "; and the Christians say, "The Messiah is the son of Allah ." That is their statement from their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved [before them]. May Allah destroy them; how are they deluded?

Quoran 9:5 And when the sacred months have passed, then kill the polytheists wherever you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they should repent, establish prayer, and give zakah, let them [go] on their way. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

Quoran 8:39 And fight them until there is no fitnah and [until] the religion, all of it, is for Allah. And if they cease - then indeed, Allah is Seeing of what they do

You see first you can't understand the verses of the Quran just by reading their translation, you need to study their exegesis before you understand them. And you must know that most quranic verses don't stand alone, to get their true meaning you need to follow the contents of, either its preceeding or succeeding verses or both, and you must know the historical reason why the verse is revealed. In other not to lengthen my response I will only talk about. Quran 9 : 5 as for the rest be kind enough to search online for their exegesis.

Q9:5 was referring to the polytheist who breached a treaty ( Treaty of Hudaibiyya: by killing some Muslim allies) that was signed btw the prophet (SAW) on one hand and the polytheists lead by the people of mecca on the other. So Allah (SWT) ordered the Muslim to wait for the sacred months ( of dhu-hijja and Muharra ) to pass and then retaliate by killing the polytheists ( that breached the treaty ) wherever they find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they should accept Islam before or during the fight with them, then the Muslims should let them [go] on their way. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.”
