Greeting family. How are y'all been.

Please I wanna find out if I can safely apply for VISA with my NECO certificate instead of my WAEC (I had a Pass, D7 in English, though I have my TOEFL score of 92 to back it up if need be).

I also wanna know when appointments for winter 2018 commences as its not available right now on the booking platform.

Any prospective M.Sc. Economics (Universitat Siegen) in the house?
Thanks

Please note that we haven't seen any discrimination of NECO result in any establishment locally and internationally, as NECO is an authorized senior secondary exam and is widely accepted.

what if you are above 30years old
I faced the same situation here as my age is above 30.So I took up a private insurance for the purpose of enrollment, but my school insisted I get an exemption certificate from statutory health insurance body like BARMER or AOK. The exemption certificate is called
" Freistellungsbescheiningung" in German. I was given a deadline of 4weeks to produce it. I immediately went to BARMER's office and requested for it, and was delivered to me in 3days.

Please did Dusseldorf get back to you regarding you application for Msc mechanical engineering
Yes they did, I got a reject! Reason being that the course is restricted, and school set a CGPA of 1.5 on German scale as cut-off, and unfortunately mine was 1.8.
I have resumed in stralsund.

Hallo Leute,
Please can i book my flight through wakanow website? Or is there any other reliable Website that I can use?
Thanks !
I used travelstart to book for Ethiopian airline from Lagos to Frankfurt, and my journey was smooth. There is no harm in trying, I'm aware that wakanow has got good reputation ,just give it a try, or book directly on the airline website

Kudos to the gurus in the house for a good job done so far. I started following this thread few days ago and it has been helpful.
My question goes to this funding of a thing, I noticed guys mentioning 8,892€ and higher against the 8,000€ I have known before I begin this journey. My question is, has Deutscheland changed the 8,000€ policy to the new policy of 8,892€?
A friend of mine made her journey to Germany yesterday night, and she was asked a sum of 4,000€ to fund her block.
I really need the gurus to please shed more light on this cos I am only stock with 8,000€ at the moment - owo oniru owo alata
Thanks.
Just ask your friend how she did it, but now we adhere to the Fintiba policy of 8829euro as stated ,until the policy is changed .Once it's changed, it will be reflected on German embassy website or Fintiba website. Maybe your friend has a partial scholarship, pls enquire from your friend and let's know.

Well Said!
To me, Germany is not Nigeria where public/government schools or institutions are messed up.

When you talk of quality education in advanced and developed countries, public schools are well equipped because the government is so reliable and dependable to the extent that they invest so much to equip their public universities and make sure its of world standard.

Also, from the free tuition fees and oda benefits like duscounted meals at canteens, free transportation around d city, etc, its so clear and obvious dat d only priority of these public schools is not money making but to render good, quality and best of education.

Moreova, I believe in advanced countries like Germany, public/government institutions get some global/national license dat most private school cannot have (e.g internship with some international organizations, collaboration with international communities/organizations).

So Germany is not Nigeria where d government and d system is so corrupt, to the extent that facilities/equipments meant for the public (public institutions inclusive) are siphoned and diverted to their personal businesses/institutions, which consequently and continuously is leading to the production of poor graduates and rich thieves (in d name of politicians).

For example, my university, (a state owned university/public university), is making life more meaningful and less stressful for her students, which will directly and indirectly make studies much more interesting. Outside oda benefits like our semester tickets covering transportation within the entire state and few parts of 2 neighboring states, I also discovered recently that they offer free German classes (A1) to their willing students.

Just my point of view about my comparison between public and private institutions in advanced society like Germany, as against our usual view when comparing public and private institutions in a dead, currupt and glorified-village like Nigeria.
Well said Metabolite01.

It all depends on your motives my brother, I suspect the school that gave you admission in berlin is probably a private institution.

What you should understand is that there's a whole lot of difference between a German Public Schools and Private Schools.

Although a private skool is more expensive, but in the long run the benefits you get from attending a private skool is far better than that of a public skool.

In my own case I got admitted into a private skool here in Berlin for a masters degree, and the skool fee for the 3 semester programme cost approx 18,000 euros.

I also have a blocked account here in Germany.

My course is a very unique one and not all public universities in Germany offer it and if they do, it can't be compared to that of a private university.

A better scenario is like comparing Uni Ib
adan and Atiku Abubarka University (ABTI).
As far as I know, the motive for any private school is to make money. The motive for public schools is the passion for excellence in the various fields of human endeavor, hence public schools are the best in R & D. Mechanical engineering is Mechanical engineering, irrespective of whether you spend 1million dollars to attain it or not. Same with other courses. Nobody gives a fucking damn in the job market whether you finished from a private school or not,it is the stuff and experience you have that speaks volume. Spending thousands of euro to attain a masters degree in Germany while there are free tuition in same course in public schools is a colossal waste of resources that anybody who has worked hard to earn money will have value for and will want to conserve. But if you are from a rich home where there is abundant resources, why not!

Good Afternoon team Dutch land, I recently applied to a university in South Germany through uni-assist which there application deadline is on the 15th of February. And decision would be taken 2weeks after d deadline.... And it's written boldly on the programme fliers that the program will commenced on the 1st of March and the university programme only runs during the summer semester...... Which means if I said I shld defer I would have to wait till next year March...... Luckily I was admitted into a university in Berlin last year where I have to pay huge to complete my programme, 9,000€ and will still needs around €5000 euro for other expenses like housing and flight ticket...... Although my sponsor didn't have the money he will have to hustle for the money...... Please i need your advice if the school it worth going Because my major aim of travelling is 40percent academic and 60percent to upgrade my standard of living please i need your advise.... To pay him back the money after a year..... Thanks your advice is needed urgently
Bros I can't believe you want to waste 9000euro when about 97% of schools are tuition free. Not even your money, this is like taking Student Loan only that u may not pay interest. Read this thread well and get a better school without paying a dine, and save yourself and your family this financial stress. All you need is information, and to get informed you need to do your research. A word is enough for the wise!

Please I want to know if its possible for me to email the school telling them about how hard it is to book an appointment with the embassy becus of high demand in student application to german school so that they can back track my resumption date or give me a supporting letter so as to tell the consulate....and besides the school enrollment starts on the 9th and 28th of march......
Please I need advice as to wat to do because I learnt the applicant must have up to six weeks left before the lecture begins so as to enable the consulate do every necessary process .............
Please gurus I need advice as to go about it.....

It's possible for school to extend your enrollment deadline, tell them to extend it til April 30 with reasons .
Attach proof of ur interview date .But it's at their own discretion to extend it or not.

I want to apply to Dusseldorf but most of their masters programs are in German and require German language certificate. How do I go about this?
Only the Mechanical Engineering course is fully taught in English, others are in German. So you have to learn German or apply to other English taught programmes in other schools.

Thank you sir. I was lucky enough to book feb 9th few days ago. I guess my chances are high. Sir, which courier do you think is the best and what's your suggestion in funding my block account before friday (my interview day). Thanks
Your date is not bad but you still have limited time, hence try and fund as fast as possible so that nothing will delay their processing.
As for the courier, you can use DHL but the cost depend on your location.Within Lagos,it cost me 1150 naira to get it in German embassy 2 days prior to my interview date.If you are in PH, it can cost up to 4500 naira.
As for your funding,it depends on which method of funding you want to use ...Transfer from your domiciliary account to Block account OR Form A.
I transferred from my domiciliary account and within 48 hours it was delivered and automatically got my confirmation of block account, but also factor in transfer fees.I really don't have experience in using Form A.

Congratulations BabaEuro, please I would like to find out if I can use my IELTS result which i wrote in 2015 to secure admission for winter 2018 in Germany. Thanks in advance for the answer.
This inquiry is also for all experienced forumites, thanks in anticipation and apologies for the trouble.
NO! You cannot use your 2015 IELTS to secure admission for winter 2018, as IELTS can only be used for a maximum of 2 years from the date the IELTS result is published, many school insist on maximum of 2 years ....I will advice you to apply to schools that uses CERTIFICATE OF ENGLISH PROFICIENCY from your alma mater as an alternative to IELTS/TOEFL .Another option is for you to write another you write another IELTS.

Hello to the house. I just started following this thread and I have truly learnt about a lot from here. I finally got a date for March 21 and my enrolment deadline is April 6th and also have a funded block account. Is it still advisable to attend the interview and hopeful to get a visa before the enrollment deadline. Just curious
Why didn't you book February date? I have been seeing February dates of recent even till yesterday. Just cancel your appointment and rebook February.Another possibility is for you to inform your school to extend your enrollment deadline to April 30th and that embassy requires a minimum of 6 weeks between interview date and enrollment deadline, inform them that your admission letter either came late or the issue with booking in German embassy in Nigeria or both ( do not forget to attach your appointment booking in PDF as proof) . If you go ahead to do your interview on March 21 when your enrollment deadline is April 6th ,the probability of being rejected is close to one. A word is enough for the wise!
