The person advising you to choose a 60k job in Ibadan over a 100k job in Lagos, doesn't like you @ all.

whenever you come to Lagos, try staying on the island alone, it'll interest you to know most graduates stay @ security houses and alot of "packaged uncompleted buildings" due to numerous real estate projects.

but when you find one, don't think that's all, you still have to work hard, but why Im telling you to come to the island to work hard is simple...

Destiny helpers don't go round looking for you, you have to position yourself where they'll easily find you and you'll have options too. don't let your pastor deceive you.

it worked for me, it'll definitely work for you too..cheers

modified: I see some clowns mentioning me saying rubbish..smh

one said rich people don't help on the island cheesy you think someone would see you on the streets of Lagos, pick u in his /her car and change Ur life grin this Life isn't ROK TV bruv...the Moto I dey drive now, someone on this forum bought it for me, yes, on this same Nairaland. If I wasn't staying/squating on the island then, I'm 100% sure I would hv missed the opportunity.

Life doesn't start and end on the island part of Lagos, but I can authoritatively tell you that it gives you a better chance or Head start of you'll prefer to call it that.

To the other guy that said everyone on d island doesn't have legit money, I have nothing to say to you..have a good life and may God open your eyes.
Abeg go siddon, stop making it look as if life starts and ends on the island part of Lagos. I was there in the past.

I know someone who got his car from someone (that is the car was bought for him) and he doesn't even stay in Lagos.
Lest I forget, he once stayed in Lagos but couldn't achieve what he planned to achieve until he moved to another city.

Another friend that we both moved to Lagos after our NYSC, left Lagos after few years because he couldn't achieve his goals, he moved to another location and from there he travelled out.

Another one was doing teaching job but later decide to leave Lagos to another city for his masters, now he is in a foreign county doing his PhD.

What do you have to say about these?

Saying someone should move to island is not reasonable.
The proper words should be we should pray to be wherever our helper will locate us or wherever grace will locate us.

If I should use myself as an example, that is, my worth when I was in Lagos and my worth now, I wouldn't advice people to go to that Lagos. Like I said, we should pray our help and grace should locate us wherever we are.

I know a lot of people that has never been to Lagos to settle down(they have been there for businesses) but they are multimillionaires.

Northern cities don't have such atmosphere for some certain thing. it is a salary base state
North?

I had that mindset in the past, after rounding up my NYSC program in a northern state. Instead of me to take time to figure out what next, I rushed to Lagos to start hustling. After few years I relocated to another state.

Although, it is a lesson learnt in life and I now see there are opportunities in other states and Grace can always locate us wherever we are, irrespective of the location.

I thought it is south, but then there are some states with good commercial atmosphere in the north.

Anyway, do what your mind tells you and be focus on it.

I wish you the best in your endeavors.

There you go
How many times do you watch southhampton vs Sheffield's game?
But they receive almost the same amount if TV right revenue with those teams that bring in the viewers. Monkey dey work, bamboo dey chop.

Do you even understand what you shared?

You are indirectly supporting my argument over yours.

OK, let me use what you shared to explain better.

We all know Liverpool, Man u, Chelsea, Arsenal, Man city and maybe Tottenham/Everton are the reason why EPL has a large viewers base all over the world, isn't it?

And we know it is because they have large fan bases, they can sign top class players etc., and these are all because some people invested billions in those teams.

But then at the end of the season you share money for them equally or almost equally... 50 percent equally and the other not equally, but still the difference between what the first took is not much from what the last took.

Now, they are asking for a form of bailout from the body or at least change some of the rules, considering the fact that they are the ones that bring views, followership etc to the league but the competition body declined.
So they decided to create a league of top teams where Evey top team can bring their own fans and viewers, merge it together and at the end of the day, share the money mom them, to help them run the clubs without issues.

Are you OK?

What is the duty of UEFA and Co?
Is it to rake in money to be shared among the members after every competition and keep mute over issues that they are originally formed/created to do?

Same way they allowed them to spend, is the same way they should allow them to do what will keep the spending going on, if they were so dumb not to know they should have come up with measures needed to put the spending in check.

Anyhow you like turn it, the fact still remains that the fault is on the side of FIFA, UEFA and other responsible bodies.

They are in such debt in normal situation, now imagine what their debt will be like during and after covid, considering the fact that their strength of servicing the debt would have reduced due to empty stadiums etc.
When you have a business and you're running into debt, do you sit down and watch expecting the situation to change so that you can clear it and if it doesn't change you allow it to pile up or you take steps on clearing the debt.

You funny, so those companies sponsoring them are on a charity mission, right?
Or you think they receive TV rights revenue directly?
Read more on how the TV right revenue is shared abeg, before assuming the money enters their accounts directly.

It's simple, the demand to spend is increasing and the income is reducing. So, they need something that can can give them such money.

Those clubs are people's businesses or investments, they have shareholders, hope you know?

Why do you think dangote is taking his time before bidding for Arsenal? If it is easy he would have done it straight-up na.

Response to your second point: are they asking for palliatives to keep paying exorbitant fees or are they asking for palliatives like every other tax payers that got half of what they deserved? ( I asked because I am not privy to their demands and from your response I can only infer that they want money to keep receiving fat cheques while the rest of the world are cutting down for the greater good)

To your third point: yes contractual agreement is nothing to renege on, you will face a swift push back with all sort of litigations. But let me tell you, last year a friend of mine works full time when the COVID hit, he still collects his full time pay but he discussed with his landlord that he had to work from home and was on technical unemployment ( which wasn't the case because he can do his job 100 per from home). His landlord set aside his contract and asked him to per 75per of the rent for three months. The point of this is that most contract can be renegotiated in good faith. Maybe we need to know the inner working of the club, this will give us an idea on why the player threatened to leave. Maybe management want to cut other people's pay without adjusting theirs. Have you considered that could be the case? If I have the power personally I would not give up a cent of my salary if management refused to adjust theirs as well.

How are you certain that UEFA isn't doing anything about it? I have been opportuned to be in the inner working of an organization. A times that an agreement has not been reach on how to move forward does not mean something isn't being done. I also can not say for sure whether UEFA is being unfair until we are privy to details of those close doors meetings.

My argument with you steams from closing of stadium or not which we have agreed upon.
That aside, why I think the ESL is a bad idea is that it will give exclusive access to big teams. This will not only kill talents but will affect talents from poor countries the most. Majority of the talents from poor countries started off from small team that had the opportunity to play on big stage. If the big stage becomes restricted to only the haves what happens to the future of the have-nots?

Even in business a times you have to put the overall objectives and long term gain into consideration.

Like I said in one of my previous responses, I am not a football fan I am only using common sense here. But if you are able to explain to be how ESL will not be disadvantaged to mostly talents from poor countries like African I will appreciate it.
From your first two paragraphs, I think you should let the clubs be and focus more on the players.

If the clubs want to cut but the players don't want pay cut, what will you do? Force them, I guess you would not want to try that.

If UEFA took necessary steps, there is no way you won't read about it in the news, because they will surely use it as excuse in order to make those clubs look bad and also win public sympathy.

I'm not the one you are arguing with over stadium closure, I only responded to your response to the guy that mentioned closed stadium, simply because you tried using covid as reasons while these clubs should continue running despite their challenges and you're still against their actions(ESL) to help themselves out of that challenges.
Maybe you should read on how that body against them is formed or some other football competitions, you will understand better.

Again, every industry has their working principles, there are things you don't just decide to use common sense on.

I have worked in organizations in the past, and I know what I'm saying.
Infact, I stopped working for others as a result of payment issue.
The owner called us(the top earners) for a meeting and he told us he can no longer afford to pay us since the company is not making enough money to cater for that, he said he has been running it with his own personal money, that he can no longer do that, he paid us off and everyone went their ways.

Can you use such style in football? Call the clubs top earners(who are probably the main stars), pay them off and tell them to go. Which players will they play with? Feeders team? grin

It may work in banking industry but it won't work in oil industry.

Banks can cut their labour size and operate from few branches, but oil companies can't sack their expatriates, it is either they replace them or they meet the agreed terms. I don't know maybe you get the point I am trying to make using day to day lives.

Note: By Oil companies, I mean those that do exploration not petrol stations.

After walking around the city without any serious contact, I rested under a tree for sometime, used the remaining transport allowance to refresh myself and I decided I have to stop the job.

Modified: I can't really remember, but the target should be daily or weekly I think but it is not month, because the monthly target they gave was in hundreds of millions.

Many of us own businesses that have lost over 80% revenue.

I feel they are a bit selfish. Okay, what will smaller clubs do when Mancity, Man Utd, Liverpool, and Chelsea exit EPL ?

It means EPL will be dead. Drowning the smaller clubs further into debts. They should exercise patience, nobody planned Covid.
At least those businesses are sole businesses that is they don't have anybody on their necks.
If you have any opportunity of taking actions that will direct customers to your business, won't you take the step to save your biz?

Will you tell Salah, Mane, de bruyne and Co that their is no money to pay them and they will laff and hug you?

My response was strictly on the part where he said uefa refused to allow them open stadium. How on earth would anyone with a working brain think that opening the stadium is a good idea.

Since you chose not to address the above, let me make a general statement.

Oga do you know how many people are taking pay cut in the form of technical unemployment in Europe? Do you know how many businesses are surviving on half of what they use to earn?

Please can you tell me what the management of these clubs have done (I am genuinely asking because I am not a fan of any club and I don't really follow their news) to cut cost and ensure their reserves ( enormous profit year after year) last them longer than anticipated?

If I may ask, do you think that ESL will magical open the stadium for them unless it coincide with the removal of Covid restrictions? You do you think that ESL will magically erase all the hurdles placed my Covid restrictions on business?
First of all, the clubs are not asking for their stadiums to be opened.
So, that settles your opening of stadium question.

Secondly, what they are requesting for is a form of palliative to help them run their business smoothly. At least, you know governments all over gave palliative(bailout) to their citizens and businesses to help them cope with covid effect.

Thirdly, most players refused to cut their pay. The recent one is Sergio Ramos, he even threaten to leave rather than cut his pay. Do you know how much Messi takes yearly?
Over there, they are bound to respect a contract until it runs out if the other party(that is the player refuse their offer of pay cut).
Kindly tell me how they will do that please. A club with monthly spending(running cost/expenses) of 50 million dollars is generating 5 million dollars, abeg which magic dem go use do am.

Those that are shouting "greed" are just ignorant of the situations. I know money is involved, Yes. Who will invest bilions of dollars on an investment and watch it not generate money for him/her and will fold his or her arms.
Do you expect them to take Liam for that or use money from their other businesses to run this one? Is that a wise business decision?

Do you know the total prized money of UCL is 100 - 120 m dollars or so?
Can that money when get a world class player this moment?
And that is just for the winner, at the end of the day UEFA will pocket the remaining money generated via the completion and the teams will now be the one to look for ways to sort the players and other staffs wages.

Since UEFA is not doing anything concerning their plea, they decided to help themselves by creating ESL, where top teams will play eachother severally in a year and that will help them generate a lot of income because they will get the returns directly, irrespective of your position in the competition.

Think of it this way,
You said you don't follow football but sometimes you watch football, right?
And those matches you do watch are big clubs matches e.g Liverpool vs Man U, Man city vs Chelsea, Tottenham vs Arsenal, Barça vs Madrid, Juventus vs Inter/AC Milan etc.

ESL will afford viewers the opportunity to watch those top matches and they will be able to get the TV rights directly to the teams.

It is been shared to them by those management. Read more on it and you will understand better.

COVID 19 regulations are made by countries. Each country has its rule on gathering it is a law that is way beyond the pay grade of football Council.

Secondly, do you guys have any idea how bad Covid is in Europe? Just to please some over paid entertainers you want to open the stadium, do you know what shit show that will be?

COVID is no joke health care system has been stretched, small businesses are taking losses and they do it quietly for the greater good, why not the big businesses.
He made sense and you made no sense.

What they are requesting for is not opening of stadiums but something in form of palliative.

UEFA have been making money from these guys for years and now this happened, they(the clubs) are now struggling, is UEFA not supposed to take actions that will help or protect them and their businesses.

Countries shared palliative to their citizens, took policies that will help/protect businesses during the period etc, but UEFA did nothing and the competition is going on even in the period and most players are rejecting pay cut option, players won't listen to any excuse of nonpayment of wages because of covid19, fans like you are listing different buy stars their clubs should sign(is it paper they will use in signing them), domestic staffs dey there, shareholders dey dia etc.

Think well abeg, Na people dey invest money for those businesses. No be charity organization na. Even charity organization sef needs money for proper running.

They still make millions off merc sales and tv rights. This is just pure greed!
Don’t let anybody tell you otherwise.
Are you OK? What is a business all about? Fans passion?
Someone will invest billions of dollars in a project and you expect him or her to make fans passion his or her priority.

Please seek Wisdom.

So, in your myopic mind, if someone is making 600 million but his/her expenditure is 800 million the person is making money.

Or let me even say if he/she is making 600m and spending 550m, he/she is making money right? Don't forget they have shareholders, don't forget they will buy players, upgrade their stadiums etc.
Don't forget as the year goes by the spending will increase but the income won't increase.
Or do you expect them to spend their personal money gotten from another investment/business on that?

These people know about economics more than you do, they have considered the future consequence etc.

Airoflaw, please don't mind that person that referred to my view as clueless. When he/she starts his/her own business he/she can go on and run it on loss alone by selling at lesser price than the amount he got the goods, rendering a service at a lesser rate than the total cost(that is cost of materials used, labour employed and other things) etc.

Change is inevitable.

Empty stadiums etc have forced these clubs into a lot of debts.
Don't forget they have players they pay large sum of money, if there are no fans to generate money from, where will they get funds to pay the players from? Owners personal money?

They complained that UEFA is paying them little amount compared to what they generate from the competition.

Reason it this way.

A club signs a big name player with many fans, the player follows the club to play in a competition which his fans will probably watch because their fave is playing in the competition.
UEFA generate money through views, TV rights etc, while the club don't because the stadium is empty, the club will be the one to pay the player, foot the transportation, lodging and other bills, pay the domestic staffs, etc

At the end UEFA pays they little amount that can't even pay off the players 1 month or 2 months salary.

UEFA is catching out where they didn't work.

UEFA should either share do one of these...
1. After removing 10 to 20 percent of the total money generated from the competition and also removing the prized money for each stage.
They should share the remaining money among all the participating clubs to help them fight their growing expenses.

2. Allow them have their own way(ESL).

You can't be catching out at the expense of these clubs and their stadiums are empty, thereby making it difficult for them to run the clubs.

Do you think if Boko Haram, iswap are after secession, by now they wouldn't have conquered the areas they want?

I think referendum or equity will solve this. If the government can do the proper thing, they will surely win people's trust to their side.

A lot of people are indifferent about the whole situation, while some are sympathetic towards ESN because they have lost trust in the government.

Lastly I don't think this is done by them(ESN). The government can do and undo when it comes to taking stupid actions so I don't trust them.
