I think they look at your resumption and your intended date of travel.

Please anyone knows how safe the inner CBD is in J'borg I got a student resident- Saragota Village @ 3900 per month. It is for UJ and Wits students. Already paid to fulfil visa conditions.

Any info about daily transit from the CBD to Wits in Braafontein-costs, safety and any concerns. The student residence address is 13 Saratoga Avenue Doomfortein and the faulty/school address is 1 Jan Smuts avenue Braamfontein.

General useful info for a new student will be appreciated.

Dumb people same Government that admitted that the cant police the borders with respect to refine oil smuggling to neighboring countries. same Government that cant tackle illegal bunkering now wants to increase tariff to protect an industry that has not even been incubated and that does not have the power to birth such industry..... more money to custom officers more money to Cotonou govt..... in smuggling we trust!

lastpage: In Diaspora,

*l speak my language, l teach it to my children too.

*Even on a cold Sunday, l dress in my "Nigerian Attire" to church and l cook and eat my Nigerian food.

*I send hard "earned money" to less fortunate Nigerian family members and l do come "home' to spend my holidays.

*I am proud to announce my 'Nigerian-ness" to anyone who cares to listen, despite all the negative info emanating from Nigeria, into the globosphere!

*If any foreigner speaks ill of my country, l defend her stoutly despite the fact that l know we are guilty of some of these ills

*I speak my "English" with a proud "Nigerian accent" and dont pretend l am now "Oyinbo"! grin

*I dont participate in scamming (Yahoo yahoo) cause l dont believe in giving my country a bad name, in diaspora

*I dont benefit from Government corruption in any way, yet even while leaving in diaspora, l still pay TAX to my Nigerian Government, l pay my Tenement rate, just like any other Nigerian.

*When things go wrong in my dear country, l contribute my own "opinion" on the way forward.
I dont mince words, l call a spade, a spade because l think that is the way forward!

YET,

*You think l am BITTER about my country 'cos l live abroad?

*You prefer l bury my head in the sand, like an Ostrich and pronounce: "It is well in Nigeria"?

*You want me to see "blackout" and say PHCN is doing a perfect job?

*You want me to see pot-holes and say our roads are well paved?

*You want me to see Hospitals that have been turned to mortuaries but say our health system is running well?

*You want me to see a government that does not care about its own people, one with a leader that goes abroad for medical check-up while millions of my Nigerian folks have no access to basic first aid?.....and say "Government is trying"?

*You want me to observe Government officials taking bribe for every "right of the citizen"......and l should say the system is not corrupt?

*You want me to see refuse everywhere and still say our environment is clean?

I speak the TRUTH about our Nation and you say l am bitter?

***You cannot distinguish between a "honest criticism of a failed system"......and bitterness?

***You cannot distinguish between criticizing "Hypocrisy, cronyism, insanity and corruption"......and bitterness?

You my friend, needs to examine your head!

The "West" did not get where it is today, by all of them being "YES MEN"....even till this moment, you need to witness the "rigorous debate" that goes on in their Parliamentary sittings".....and compare it with our own in Nigeria where it "all Say Aye" if you agree that we should "double our allowances"! All say "aye" and it is carried!
grin

Come to think of it, only a sycophant will say he or she is "not bitter" at the "state of Nigeria", a country so blessed and yet so ruined by its own people!

If labeling me as "bitter" is the price l have to pay, to get this country working again, then l will gladly pay it............but this country MUST work again, for the sake of our unborn generation
!

As a Nigerian in diaspora I have nothing more to add that to say when you have seen the light you sure must be bittered about the long years you stayed in darkness.God bless you Lastpage.

the reasons are clear-language barrier- in getting odd jobs in the uk u dont face such barriers u must be versed in the language to get any soft jobs around.
fees are a little lower than the Uk-also depends on the discipline -mostly with 12k Euros u can get into a grand ecole. Most Government universities even charge less about 3-4k Euros.=Tuition is free in Germany-caveat-if u cant cope with ethnicity in 9ja u wont be able to cope with racism there.

i see this as an urgent call for us to look at the deeper issues that has plagued us  as a country, the earlier we either go true federalism or back to regional government the better for us.
There is no way Nigeria can make it  with the present structure-all these bombings are symtoms of a failed structure-But my fear is that we might not have  the courage to face our fears
For long as we continue to pretend then as long  the cost of staying together will soar!!!

Go and tell that to the millions who voted GEJ and see if you wont receive a dirty slap on your face for telling them they made a wrong choice. How can someone in his right sense make a statement purporting that over 20m people doesnt have the wisdom to make a right choice? So, you know better than the millions who voted for him? If you dont like him, that doesnt mean others should not like him and vote for him.

Manyi  u better take things easy. i dont care if the whole world goes east once am convinced its west i go,so continue to follow follow and dont subject Ur self to proper reasoning.
WE ALL KNOW THIS ,THAT ASSUMING WE ARE RUNNING A REGIONAL GOVERNMENT AND THERE IS HEALTHY COMPETITION WITHIN THE SIX REGIONS IN THE COUNTRY SOUTH SOUTH WILL NEVER PRODUCE GOODLUCK AS THEIR OWN PREMIER, but we are in NIGERIA so the patrimony continues,

Obasanjo was one of the worst  of his tribe to govern this country, same with Yaradua and now Goodluck, dont worry it will go round with each zone producing the worst of his kind.-assuming we run a system in which we ar to showcase what stuff each zone is made up-THEN I CAN SAY 20 MILLION NIGERIANS CANT BE WRONG but for now  AS OF NOW I CAN NEVER BOAST OF THE INTELLIGENCE OF NIGERIANS TO CHOICE RIGHTLY- the problem might not be the issue of electroral rigging but also  have we asked ourself DOES THE AVERAGE NIGERIAN ABLE TO MAKE A GOOD AND WELL INFORMED DECISION?

The way we have run ourselves for the last 50 years does not breed a generation of people who are discerning-so i fully understand your plight-TO START WITH MOST NIGERIANS CAN NOT  EVEN EXPLAIN WHAT A GOOD GOVERNMENT LOOKS LIKE? -its only in nigeria  that university professors are quick to point out the the reason why they will vote for JONATHAN  is because there are no more fuel queues.it  baffels me alot that Nigerians cannot ask why a country the 7/8 of crude oil imports refined oil?.   I WILL ONLY RESPECT THE COLLECTIVE INTELLIGENCE OF NIGERIANS IF ISSUES SUCH AS WHAT JONATHAN WILL  DO TO THE OIL SUBSIZY WAS ON THE FRONT BURNER.( we all waiting for the bombshell very soon-i wait to see how much you will buy petrol by the end of next year)

We have dehumanized ourself and now we go to the ants-GHANA,LIBERIA,NIGER AND EVEN CAMEROON to lean how to govern ourself.if ure proud of the CV  of ur country then  i weep for you.

This is the FOURTH page of this discussion yet no one has been able to mention just a positive point about goodluck's performance in Bayelsa, very soon it will be FOUR years of his presidency-we are waiting.

I don't care who is offended but as a Nigerian I am totally ashamed that we don't have the capacity to make the right choice, even without rigging and with full electoral transparency NIGERIANS AS A WHOLE DON'T HAVE THE WISDOM TO CHOICE RIGHT.maybe in 2015 we should import Ghanaian am sure they will make a good choice for US.

THE WHITE HOUSE
Office of the Press Secretary
________________________________________________________________
For Immediate Release May 1, 2011
REMARKS BY THE PRESIDENT
ON OSAMA BIN LADEN
East Room
11:35 P.M. EDT
THE PRESIDENT: Good evening. Tonight, I can report to the
American people and to the world that the United States has conducted
an operation that killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of al Qaeda, and
a terrorist who’s responsible for the murder of thousands of innocent
men, women, and children.
It was nearly 10 years ago that a bright September day was darkened
by the worst attack on the American people in our history. The
images of 9/11 are seared into our national memory -- hijacked planes
cutting through a cloudless September sky; the Twin Towers collapsing
to the ground; black smoke billowing up from the Pentagon; the wreckage
of Flight 93 in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, where the actions of
heroic citizens saved even more heartbreak and destruction.
And yet we know that the worst images are those that were unseen
to the world. The empty seat at the dinner table. Children who were
forced to grow up without their mother or their father. Parents who
would never know the feeling of their child’s embrace. Nearly 3,000
citizens taken from us, leaving a gaping hole in our hearts.
On September 11, 2001, in our time of grief, the American people
came together. We offered our neighbors a hand, and we offered the
wounded our blood. We reaffirmed our ties to each other, and our
love of community and country. On that day, no matter where we came
from, what God we prayed to, or what race or ethnicity we were, we
were united as one American family.
We were also united in our resolve to protect our nation and to
bring those who committed this vicious attack to justice. We quickly
learned that the 9/11 attacks were carried out by al Qaeda -- an organization
headed by Osama bin Laden, which had openly declared war
on the United States and was committed to killing innocents in our
country and around the globe. And so we went to war against al Qaeda
to protect our citizens, our friends, and our allies.
Over the last 10 years, thanks to the tireless and heroic work
of our military and our counterterrorism professionals, we’ve made
great strides in that effort. We’ve disrupted terrorist attacks and
strengthened our homeland defense. In Afghanistan, we removed the
Taliban government, which had given bin Laden and al Qaeda safe haven
and support. And around the globe, we worked with our friends and
allies to capture or kill scores of al Qaeda terrorists, including
several who were a part of the 9/11 plot.
Yet Osama bin Laden avoided capture and escaped across the Afghan
border into Pakistan. Meanwhile, al Qaeda continued to operate
from along that border and operate through its affiliates across the
world.
And so shortly after taking office, I directed Leon Panetta, the
director of the CIA, to make the killing or capture of bin Laden the
top priority of our war against al Qaeda, even as we continued our
broader efforts to disrupt, dismantle, and defeat his network.
Then, last August, after years of painstaking work by our intelligence
community, I was briefed on a possible lead to bin Laden. It
was far from certain, and it took many months to run this thread to
ground. I met repeatedly with my national security team as we developed
more information about the possibility that we had located bin
Laden hiding within a compound deep inside of Pakistan. And finally,
last week, I determined that we had enough intelligence to take action,
and authorized an operation to get Osama bin Laden and bring
him to justice.
Today, at my direction, the United States launched a targeted
operation against that compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. A small
team of Americans carried out the operation with extraordinary courage
and capability. No Americans were harmed. They took care to
avoid civilian casualties. After a firefight, they killed Osama bin
Laden and took custody of his body.
For over two decades, bin Laden has been al Qaeda’s leader and
symbol, and has continued to plot attacks against our country and our
friends and allies. The death of bin Laden marks the most significant
achievement to date in our nation’s effort to defeat al Qaeda.
Yet his death does not mark the end of our effort. There’s no
doubt that al Qaeda will continue to pursue attacks against us. We
must –- and we will -- remain vigilant at home and abroad.
As we do, we must also reaffirm that the United States is not –-
and never will be -– at war with Islam. I’ve made clear, just as
President Bush did shortly after 9/11, that our war is not against
Islam. Bin Laden was not a Muslim leader; he was a mass murderer of
Muslims. Indeed, al Qaeda has slaughtered scores of Muslims in many
countries, including our own. So his demise should be welcomed by
all who believe in peace and human dignity.
Over the years, I’ve repeatedly made clear that we would take
action within Pakistan if we knew where bin Laden was. That is what
we’ve done. But it’s important to note that our counterterrorism cooperation
with Pakistan helped lead us to bin Laden and the compound
where he was hiding. Indeed, bin Laden had declared war against
Pakistan as well, and ordered attacks against the Pakistani people.
Tonight, I called President Zardari, and my team has also spoken
with their Pakistani counterparts. They agree that this is a good
and historic day for both of our nations. And going forward, it is
essential that Pakistan continue to join us in the fight against al
Qaeda and its affiliates.
The American people did not choose this fight. It came to our
shores, and started with the senseless slaughter of our citizens.
After nearly 10 years of service, struggle, and sacrifice, we know
well the costs of war. These efforts weigh on me every time I, as
Commander-in-Chief, have to sign a letter to a family that has lost a
loved one, or look into the eyes of a service member who’s been
gravely wounded.
So Americans understand the costs of war. Yet as a country, we
will never tolerate our security being threatened, nor stand idly by
when our people have been killed. We will be relentless in defense
of our citizens and our friends and allies. We will be true to the
values that make us who we are. And on nights like this one, we can
say to those families who have lost loved ones to al Qaeda’s terror:
Justice has been done.
Tonight, we give thanks to the countless intelligence and counterterrorism
professionals who’ve worked tirelessly to achieve this
outcome. The American people do not see their work, nor know their
names. But tonight, they feel the satisfaction of their work and the
result of their pursuit of justice.
We give thanks for the men who carried out this operation, for
they exemplify the professionalism, patriotism, and unparalleled
courage of those who serve our country. And they are part of a generation
that has borne the heaviest share of the burden since that
September day.
Finally, let me say to the families who lost loved ones on 9/11
that we have never forgotten your loss, nor wavered in our commitment
to see that we do whatever it takes to prevent another attack on our
shores.
And tonight, let us think back to the sense of unity that prevailed
on 9/11. I know that it has, at times, frayed. Yet today’s
achievement is a testament to the greatness of our country and the
determination of the American people.
The cause of securing our country is not complete. But tonight,
we are once again reminded that America can do whatever we set our
mind to. That is the story of our history, whether it’s the pursuit
of prosperity for our people, or the struggle for equality for all
our citizens; our commitment to stand up for our values abroad, and
our sacrifices to make the world a safer place.
Let us remember that we can do these things not just because of
wealth or power, but because of who we are: one nation, under God,
indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Thank you. May God bless you. And may God bless the United
States of America.
END 11:44 P.M. EDT
Politics / Re: Two Years Remembrance Of Yar'adua by babalawo(m): 3:30pm On May 05, 2011
I think Nigerians should be thankful that Yar’Adua died. His death was more beneficial to Nigeria and Nigerians than his life, but if souls rest may his soul rest in peace.

Why?

If he had not died Nigerians would have been denied the year round revealing but yet interesting outplay in our polity .We wouldn’t have seen the lacuna in the constitution about deputy political holders, doctrine of necessity wouldn’t have been birthed, Iwu not Jega could have staged the 2011 elections, I wouldn’t have registered and voted for the first time in my life-Nigerian could have simply been uninteresting for the last one year.
Now we know that the North –South divide is real and not imaginary courtesy of Yar’Adua death.

While Pastors and Imams were praying foolishly for him not to die, I earnestly prayed that-Yar’Adua died -cos it could be of benefit to Nigeria. The events of the past year has brought to the fore and beyond reasonable doubt that we are a divided country and that we have not yet started the journey to nationhood. His death has moved Nigeria forward to the inevitable predicament that faces us as a people.

It is only in Nigerian that the only CV a president has is to have intension even if that person does not have the capacity to translate intension unto reality. Worse of ,even educated Nigerian are quick to say he has good intention- if it were simple intension that matters then I would probably become the president of Ghana(though am Nigerian) cos I have good intention for a black country like mine
Shame on us!!!!

I can only pray that more people die- those whose death will fast track Nigeria to the right path .I can only imagine if Good luck dies just a day after inauguration and see the way southerners will react-I guess it will be worst than what the Buhari apologist did in the last two weeks!

Then the question will be who is better than whom?

Please take time to read the question asked. I asked a specific one. No article has reported what you claimed in your post there . .  the only people who hold that view are the 'crowd' people who simply follow what they hear without even taking time to confirm it or verify it in some way.

Kindly ask your specific question again thanks.

Article reports are just one of so many information streams.  Someone just uploaded a picture showing underage voting in Abuja.  Just goggle 'underage voting in Nigeria' and get informed. Being on ground confers some advantage u know?
