When these guys talk about latin america. I just wonder where they speak about. I live in Chile and I have been to over 15 african countries. I dont even live in a 1st or 2nd rate city by Chilean standards but no African country can be compared to the city I live in terms of infrastructure. The roads are good. Theres clean running water to all homes. Everywhere is very clean all the fucking time. Theres street lights and everything. Theres a lot of jobs and work for everyone to do. The funny thing is that the GDPs of most African countries aren't even true figures. I told my guy that during the PDP years Nigeria's economy wasn't even up to 500 billion usd and that was our best time as a nation economically. Chiles GDP isn't even up to 450 billion USD and I live in a very small town but this town has more economic activity than Lagos. Shops are open 24/7. There's delivery available all the time. Everything is just working at every point and it's always been this way yet their economy isn't up to half a trillion USD then Nigeria that has zero economic activity outside Lagos has a 500 billion economy. Yeah right.

Nigerias economy is largely informal, so u can't rely on those numbers,it might be bigger,besides Chile's population is fucking small so there's bound to be more wealth.

There' are few reasons why the Igbo were able to rebuild after the civil war.
It has only a little bit to do with the Igbo race themselves actually.

The reasons are,
1. The war was prosecuted by a minority ruler ( Gowon). Who strategically prosecuted the war to cause minimal damage to the igbos. More people were lost due to starvation than the actual fighting( it was mostly children that suffered from the war and died). There was minimal damage to Igbo cities and wealth.The 20£ story is over exaggerated.The igbos did not start from scratch.Gowon ,a minority man was able to apply strategic tactics to prevent serious damage to the Igbo.Infact Nigeria suffered too much losses from his methods of gentle ,careful prosecution of the war.

2.Shagari emergence in 1979 with Alex ekuweme as VP.Alex ekuweme was in charge of economy. He made policies that favoured the igbos by encouraging importation over domestic production. He knew that the Igbo domestic capacity had dwindled after the war,so the best option for the re-emergence of the Igbo was for them to be big players in the importation business. Igbos well received this economic model and took to importation. Alex ekuweme simultaneously gradually killed the domestic capacity of production in other regions completely ruining their economy by this the Igbo were well positioned to catch up with other regions despite being victims of the war.

Here's the catch.
The fact that the igbos were pragmatic enough to take advantage of the Alex ekuweme ECONOMIC model was to their credit and they deserve praise for that.

The fact that other regions didn't recognise this ECONOMIC hitjob and subsequent rulers couldnt change this model was to their loss.


In summary, despite the arrogance of the igbos it is pertinent to note that their positive re-emergence out of the civil war were more because of external factors than their quality as a people.

I disagree with the bolded... Nigeria is like huge ship sailing across heavy tides, tho the waves and tides may swerve it left and right but it's making progress.
