Hi all, Hope you're all enjoying the weekend? Exercise: JM 30 Day Shred (Level 2) 25 mins Food: Breakfast - 2 slices of toast, 2 pieces bacon, 1 sausage , 1 fried egg, baked beans (aka english breakfast ), 1 cup of coffee with drop of milk.Lunch - 1 Cereal bar Dinner - 1 Moi moi and 1 handful of gari soaked. Drink - Water over 2ltrs I've stepped things up in my 30 day shred and switched to 4kg weights in each hand from using 2kg weights previously. I had started getting too used to the 2kg ones. I really felt it in my biceps (ouch). There's one exercise in the set that i had to revert back to my 2kg weights for though, its the low squat with arm raise. My arms were shaking so much. @Modath, nice to hear from you. Yeah some of the food can be so full of oil, palm oil is the worst. Anyway hope you were able to get the exercise machine? @HG, enjoy your 'owambe' party o! its all about the portions and choosing wisely. Hope you have the willpower, anyway enjoy yourself ![]() |
^^ definitely 'no'. have no faith in the Libdem at the mo, |
agabaI23:huh?? what do you mean o?? abeg you're scaring me agaba, |
Went for a 60min power walk session this evening with my 'enabler' lol. Was really good. She sounds motivated. Then i did a 15min fast sprint to the polling booth to vote (the peeps there thought i was so eager to place my vote i literally ran in ) then sprinted back home again. Yeah! I feel really good. ![]() |
agabaI23:^^ wetin happen? Still 30 push up's better than none. GenBuhari:^^ always a good test of whether its true hunger or not. Well done on resisting the binge. Food Log (cont.): Lunch -Bread rolls x 2 with margarine. 1 yogurt Dinner - chicken curry with white rice. Exercise: Will be going for a walk/jog with my neighbour. I've 'recruited' one of my former 'enablers' into my camp her hubby literally ordered her to come with me when i go jogging next, who no like good ting? Lets hope she's committed. |
Well i didn't waste anytime, have ordered it! In the meantime 'd better master the 30 day shred to be ready for the next level ![]() ThiefOfHearts:^^@ToH, I haven't heard of Denise Austin, but I've just taken a look at her stuff on amazon. She's got quite a lot of diff workouts out there. I'm a BL fan so Jillian is my girl, i like her stern, no nonsense approach ways ![]() HourGlass1:^^@HG, thanks jare. Pele o, is it the push ups etc of the other day doing your arms? agabaI23:^^@agaba, so you're 'privileged' now? thought you were a bug, anyway you're allowed to dream, Oh and no thanks to your offer. We're doing juuust fine ![]() |
@Modath & HG, have you heard of Jilians latest Dvd - 'Ripped in 30'?? Just read the reviews on amazon, apparently its on 'another level of madness'. If one is a glutton for punishment then it fits the bill. Most of the reveiwers say its their favorite of JM's stuff so far. i'm tempted o, i do love a challenge ! will keep you posted if i decide to get it. |
Morning all! Exercise: JM 30 Day Shred Level 2 (25mins) Anyway I was busy 'Shredding' this morning and felt really sick halfway through. I went all lightheaded and nauseated for a few mins, even though the room was well ventilated, Had to open the doors to get some more air. I was determined to complete it though so paused the dvd and went back and completed. Breakfast - 1 egg made into an omelette. Coffee. (@Gen, do you still have your 'egg' fetish. I read back a few pages of this thread and see you had quite some love for them at one point, seems you've switched your affections to nuts now heehee )agabaI23:^^ H'm I'm intrigued, how does one do a waist massage?! @Hg, this your 'enabler' make dey no enable you away from ya goal o! lol@Modath, hope your trip was successful? How is the back too? |
Food: Breakfast - 2 toast and coffee Lunch - Beans Snack - Yogurt, 1 Mango. Over 2ltrs Water Dinner - Cereal |
agabaI23:might even try some push ups. Breakfast eaten. I'm nice and full. Exercise: 400 skips |
agabaI23:^^ nah, i prefer 'bug'. ![]() |
modath:^^ Hope you find a suitable elliptical. Yeah I'm on Natalies team all the way. Though i notice she cheats sometimes when Jillian ain't looking The thing tough sha but it feels good after.agabaI23:^ @Agaba, your official nickname is 'bug' remember? Courtesy of our dearest HG (where you dey gan??). You are GenB's systems bug. ![]() |
agabaI23:^^ no, you no try at all, check me out at 90mins hehe! you have permission to nickname me 'the walking queen' for today. (actually it was a one off due to my car going in for servicing, had to walk everywhere today). Anyway what were you doing walking round shops? Were you window shopping? thought you yabbed GenB the other day for doing such 'women's activity' pot, kettle, hmm ![]() |
Tuesday 3rd May Exercise: 90mins Brisk Walk 25mins JM 30 day Shred Dvd Level 2 ( what a killer, ouch!) Food: Breakfast - 2 slices of toast with butter. Coffee Lunch - fist size pounded yam and okra soup, 1 beef and 1 chicken Dinner - Cereal with milk Water 2ltr + |
agabaI23:^^ i echo agaba's words of wisdom though i wish i practiced it more in real life ![]() @HG, pls don't get discouraged. I've been where you're at, even slightly heavier. I started my weight loss journey at my heaviest post preg weight of 83kg. The weight was dropping but slowly. I wasn't doing anything too radical. Then it sort of ground to a halt around 73kg before i switched things around introduced more intensity to my w/o and the weight started dropping till i'm now 64kg, The time frame you have given yourself is good. This is not a sprint, its a journey. One day at a time. Ok i'll stop with the cliches but you get my drift. You might need to tweak things a bit so your body is not plateauing, this involves both your food and the workouts. It doesn't have to be long workouts, maybe just short burst of intense ones. Shock your body. As per the scales yeah it can be addictive and weighing yourself daily does not always show up much difference. I weigh weekly then keep the scales in the storage cupboard till next time! |
A positive note, i weighed myself this morning and i've lost 2kg yay! I had posted last week about how i suddenly gained 3kg in a short space of time -went up to 66kg from 63. Now i'm at 64kg so quite chuffed with that. (I now realise why the sudden large gain in the short time though, erm, ladies don't weigh yourself around totm, it makes a great difference . ) |
@Agaba well done o, cheeky, Anyways; No exercise today. Food: Breakfast - 1 slice of yam and 1 fried egg, cup of coffee with milk. Lunch - 1 Bread roll Dinner - Plantain and beans (made with palm oil) Snack- Yogurt. Over 2ltrs water |
agabaI23:^^ Take ur time o are you the 'nickname giver' or what?? I will find one for you too o, ![]() Don't worry all I didn't raid the fridge after all. |
GenBuhari:^^ Yeah i tend to drink from a glass straight from the tap and drink lots but don't actually keep track as per how many glasses i drink a day. Its usualy more than 8 sha, is that up to 2ltrs? I'm right now tempted to raid the fridge. Resist i say, resist! Think i'll head to the safety of my bed lol. |
Sunday 30th April Exercise: 20mins run, 10 mins skipping (200 skips) Food: Breakfast - Cereal and milk Lunch- Fried rice, grilled chicken, salad Dinner - more fried rice (a smaller portion) Snacks - ice lolly, 2 small pieces of choc Drinks - Water |
GenBuhari:@Gen, can totally relate to the above, its like there is this little thing possessing one to eat, eat and eat! But glad to see you draw a line under it and move on. Hour_Glass:^^ Go girl, you really pushed yourself, just make sure you have a lighter workout tmrw and then you can do it in intervals. |
yeah HG its the same here o. i don't know why the stares you know, but esp the black peeps, they look at one with an incredulous stare as if ' nawa you really have no problem in ur life for you to be running.' Also when i first started running my inlaws (they live in the same area) were driving past and saw me running they actually started horning and shouting across the road that 'what am i doing??'. Its like i was commiting a crime lol. As per the oyibo's i think its more like a novelty to see a black woman jogging esp that not too many blacks in my area. Agaba nice one though, giving them sumthing to really stare at haha |
Food log Breakfast - Full English breakfast consisting of 2 slices bread, 2 slices bacon, 1 sausage , 1 fried egg and baked beans and cup of coffee with milk ![]() Lunch - 1 slice of boiled yam and stew Dinner - Chicken piece and salad. Snack - popcorn @agaba, i already wear tracksuit, i just feel i stand out, funny enough when i see an oyibo lady jogging it just seems normal but with a black woman its like pple look twice both oyibos and the blacks hm, though maybe its in my mind . I'm getting better at not sending and just losing myself in my music and the running, though not too much so i don't get run over!@modath, was wondering where you were. How is the back? |
@Agaba, thanks for the info. Will use google maps next time to measure the distance. I also prefer waking up early to run, more to do with the fact i'm still quite self concious whilst running so prefer it if its nice and quiet. |
HourGlass1:Great to see you are increasing the minutes, good job, your stamina will keep improving. @Agaba, been meaning to ask you how you measure your running distance e.g when you run 7km do you use a pedometer or similar gadget to measure this? Also how many mins does it take you to run 6km/7km? I tend to use minutes run rather than distance as I have no clue how far a km is, lol. Exercise: This morning i went for a run, about 25-30mins in total (had to stop to power walk and catch my breath a few times). Did some Skipping - 850 Skips (about 25mins) Apart from that I've been enjoying the BH watching this royal wedding thing, i love a fairytale wedding, i pray it lasts. |
@ Gen, your food today sounds really nice and healthy. Shame about the gym though, good you're going with plan b. Just need to keep yourself motivated. @ agaba, they are indeed ![]() @HG, thanks for the encouragement. you are right, i only gained 5kg in 6mths and all of a sudden this 3kg has pounced on me. I think my metabolism is reduced or sumthing and the plain and simple fact is i have been overeating. My food logs are not saintly at all, esp when i think of the portions. I bought some health and fitness mags today whilst at the supermarket, i love reading stuff like that. Its a mental battle, this one. Hope you can start running again. |
Thurday 28th April Exercise: Tae bo (Cardio Bootcamp) 30mins Food: Breakfast - Cereal with milk Lunch - 8 shortbread biscuits! ( not good i know, ), 1 thick slice of bread and butterDinner - J Rice and chicken, fried plaintain. Drinks - Water, 1 can of fizzy drink I'm sort of bordering between a 'what the hell' mode in my mind i.e knowing the right thing to do but keep finding myself doing the opposite. My main issues are still to do with food. I love food. A lot. lol, The exercise bit i've cracked it, but eating the right/healthy stuff 90% of the time i still struggle with. I try to ensure i have healthy stuff in the fridge/cupboards but i find i'm irresistably drawn towards high carb and high sugar stuff. Its damaging the results i'm meant to be seeing esp with the exercise i'm doing. I am logging this so that its 'out there' so that i'm not in denial/trying to pretend its not happening. I've put on 3kg in less than 2 weeks and i know its 100% down to what i've been consuming. I keep starting the day with good intentions and it all falls apart bfore the day is up. I need willpower and self control to fight these demons ![]() |
Wednesday 27th April Exercise: JM 30 day shred (Level 2), 20mins skipping ( 600 Skips) Food: Breakfast - Cereal, 2 slices Toast, Coffee Lunch - Beans Dinner - Rice and chicken, fried plantain. Over 2ltrs water. |
agabaI23:ROFL heehee at least you providing some drama. Gen B, don't take him to heart jare, afterall you are the only 2 active guys on here, he has to have someone to banter with at the male level. HourGlass1:all at once. I think I've just got used to doing the workouts like that. It hard but I don't feel right if i fail to complete it in one go.

I do the tae bo workout all at once. I guess i've just got used to completing them in one go. It's def hard work but i like the feeling of accomplishment afterwards.Keep going at them and trying to increase the mins bit by bit. Its all in the mind. |
Hi guys/gals, lots going on here today . @modath, nope its def not too much to ask, didn't realise it was like that babe. I like your focus and determination that shines thru ur posts. Quite infectious !Good on you HG for voting despite the hassle. @Gen, do you have an idea what sort of exercise you want to take up at home/gym? Glad to see you want to up the intensity, you shld start seeing good results soon. Exercise: Tae bo Dvd (Get Ripped Advanced Workout) - 40mins Moderate Walking - 45 mins Food: B'fast - Porridge with 3 prunes, tsp honey Lunch - 2 Bread rolls and butter (i know!), fried plantain about 10, ) Dinner - Boiled plantain and beans Snacks - cereal bar, cookies (about 5 Drinks - over 2ltrs water H'm poor planning of the day meant that i allowed myself to get too hungry whilst out and about and just opened the floodgate to overeating the carbs. Lesson learnt. |
As per this tummy issue, a lot has to do with where you naturally carry your weight and your body shape. We all know we can't 'spot reduce' with weight. Before having my kids my tummy was never really super flat at all- maybe when i was a wee child lol. Now after my two kids with the help of lots of taebo, other exercise & watching what i eat etc, my tummy is flatter than before i had them! But saying that , i don't have a washboard stomach and not aiming for one. Also i naturally carry my weight on my hips/thighs not tummy so the excess weight from preg came off easier from the tummy area. We're trying to 'love' our bodies and understand our natural rhythm not kill them. we're not aiming to go about on beaches with bikinis or wearing half tops, well im not lol@agaba,i'd like to think it was the former ! Seriously though what i went thru when i decided to shift the excess weight really opened up my eyes to human nature. Wow, some pple can be intimidated by change even at the level of someone elses weight loss goal. I was the recipient of all sorts of 'advice' and undue concern hm, in the end i told them if you can't beat me join me jare, get your trainers on, heres the dvd, abi! lol i wasn't hiding what i was doing. funny enough up till now none of them have been serious to take me on, including this 'friend' i saw today. |
Monday 25th April Exercise: Brisk Walking 50mins Food: Breakfast - 2 slices toast (little butter) and coffee with drop of milk. Lunch - Jellof rice and beef, salad Dinner - Spagetti and mixed vegatables Drinks - over 2ltrs of water, glass of lemonade Snack - Ice lolly, cereal bar Feel happy with my portion control today, ate the above but all within reasonable sizes. Hey girls i know what you mean about people not 'getting' it. Its not just about losing the weight, the journey is for life. Today a friend saw me power walking and she was like 'how come your still trying to lose weight, you're skinny already, don't over do it etc, '. I tried to explain that im trying to cultivate a healthy lifestyle , maintainance blahblah etc, but you could see it went over her head, lol |
), 1 cup of coffee with drop of milk.
) then sprinted back home again. Yeah! I feel really good.

her hubby literally ordered her to come with me when i go jogging next, who no like good ting?
anyway you're allowed to dream,

are you the 'nickname giver' or what?? I will find one for you too o,
