Maintained at 63kg this week, no wahala, im not surprised, at least its not a gain.

@HG, don't lose heart with the scale sticking at the same number. Like you said, the inconsistencys are prob to blame. , we know this drill smiley Im there myself always trying to match the two (consistency in workout and eating right hand in hand=weight loss). Btw, i also use 3kg weights for the JM 30 day shred and follow natalie! Keep on keeping on girl!

HealthRe: Daily Exercise And Food Routine For Those Who Want To Lose Weight by babs2011(f): 4:55pm On Apr 15, 2011
@ HG, ah i see so its kind of a niggling pain in the shin, After reading your posts i was a bit worried i will suffer some pain in the shins afterwards. I got a skipping rope that has a counter thing and it was really motivating to see the number rising so just kept going. Didn't know i could reach 1000 tbh as i would still class myself as a beginner in skipping. I jump both feet at a time though. I easily get bored of doing the same exercise so i try and have a range of stuff i'm doing i.e running/power walking, various dvd workouts, now skipping. Will see how i go with this.

@Agaba, why can't you skip? is it a knee problem, or you just don't like the idea of jumping lol, also you shld log your cardio too, it could give us some w/o ideas just like reading HG's log motivated me to add skipping to my routine. wink
HealthRe: Daily Exercise And Food Routine For Those Who Want To Lose Weight by babs2011(f): 3:18pm On Apr 15, 2011
Hi all was m.i.a yesterday.anyway im back today  smiley

Exercise:

Skipping - 1,050 skips (yeah was gruelling but worth it, hope my shins will be alright shocked)

Food:

Breakfast - Cereal (Special K)
Lunch- Cheese Sandwich
Snack - Cereal Bar, 4 mini cookies
Dinner - Rice with Stirfry vegetables & chicken
Drinks- Coffee, Lots of water

@HG, JM is much sterner than BB,  though her workout is short and snappy so good for those days ur short on time. Was it the skipping that caused your shin/ankle pain?
@Modath, great to see you easing into things. Never heard of that condition before so will have to check it out, I know it must be frustrating to want to do more but have to restrict it. It shall pass,
@Agaba, do you do any cardio with ur w/o, i see you do focus on a lot of strength training and abs esp (have u achieved ur siix pack ??  grin)
@HG, again- i'm here o! was just posting as your own came thru lol!

Wednesday 13th April

Exercise:

20 mins run,

Food:

Breakfast- Cereal & Milk
Lunch - Handful of Fries and 1/2 milkshake (Maccie d's, i know off plan but hey!), some dodo
Dinner - Asaro (Yam and plaintain, with palm oil)
Snacks- cereal bar, nibbles,
Drinks- Lots of water

h'm today seemed to be full of random eating and nibbling kids leftovers , these all add up in the calorie stake. So my plan going forward is to plan/set out what i'm going to eat for the day ahead and stick with it.
HealthRe: Daily Exercise And Food Routine For Those Who Want To Lose Weight by babs2011(f): 10:17am On Apr 13, 2011
@ HG, lol at the 'exercise with no name'. I'm planning on getting a skipping rope today so should be adding that to my routine. I believe it gives a good cardio workout and burn lots of cals.
Modath- you're quiet, hope all is well?

Ok back with my log for Monday 11th April

Exercise:

Taebo (Cardio) - 45 mins

Food:

Breakfast - Porridge (made with water), sweetened with 1 tsp honey, 5 grapes, a drop of milk
Lunch: 1/2 a Sweet potato & Tuna Salad.
Dinner: 1 and 1/2 portion of Rice and Beans with 1 piece of fish and a boiled egg.
Snacks: Cereal Bar (Tracker), 1 pot of yoghurt, 1 or 2 random biscuits that found its way to my mouth grin

@HG: your workout today sounds very intense, nice bit of circuit and you did the bootcamp in the morning? Go girl.
As per the running on hold for now, i agree jare, better safe than sorry.

@Crystal: don't get stressed with the numbers for now. I would suggest tweaking things a little, sometimes the body needs a shock as it gets used to things. Maybe change up your workouts, add more intensity? Also food portions can be a culprit of weight gain despite exercising, try to have rough idea of cals you're consuming. sorry if you're already doing the above, just thought to add my tuppence.
HealthRe: Daily Exercise And Food Routine For Those Who Want To Lose Weight by babs2011(f): 11:09am On Apr 11, 2011
Morning all!

@ agaba, ok you got me, lol i tried to camoflage it haha, it was pizza tongue so assess away! I admit the cal content must have almost hit the 1000 mark damn! i tried to make up for it in a light supper though.

My thighs and calfs are killing me this morning, the run yesterday is showing its effect, its a kind of good feeling though.

Woke up early and did my Tae bo dvd (Celebrity Get fit - Cardio) - 45 mins

Will pop back later to report my food.

Hi all,

Hope you're all doing great and enjoying the weekend?

@Agaba: I have to agree with your advice to Gen, some strength training added to your walks will boost your metabolism and help you aheive you burn off those cals more effectively.
@Modath: how far? Hope your back is not too painful,

So guys I weighed myself this morning. Last weekend I weighed in at 64.5kg, I now weigh 63kg whoop whoop! grin So glad the efforts this week have paid off. This has really helped me to remain motivated as i can see that just being that bit more careful with food choices and exercising without necessarily going overboard pays off.

With this in mind i'm off to a bbq this evening grin

No exercise log today (its my rest day on saturdays)
Breakfast: Full English Breakfast -Toast, 2 bacon slices, 1 small sausage, 1 egg, Baked beans (sat morning treat, wink)
Lunch: Chicken piece, 1 portion of Rice, lots of salad
Supper: Bbq, plan is to stick to the meat/chicken and salad and leave out the bread/rolls as i've already had carbs for brek n lunch.

Laters.
HealthRe: Daily Exercise And Food Routine For Those Who Want To Lose Weight by babs2011(f): 6:30pm On Apr 08, 2011
@ Gen: yeah the snacks were threatening to get out of control, today was rushing all about the place and found myself very hungry and was out and about so just ate what was near and available, those are the moments i need to watch out for. Todays water intake has been a bit low so will work on that. I drink straight from the tap so measure in glasses i.e aim to drink 6-8 glasses a day, not sure how much in ltres one is meant drink. I have one cup of black coffee per day. That's my hot drink for the day. (Before i was addicted to lots of milo with fullfat milk and sugar, terrible!)

@HG: yummy puff puff, one has to be careful too smiley

@Caribchick: Welcome to the thread. What exercises do you do to maintain your weight? Good advice re: cal counting, I use foodfocus.co.uk to keep track of them.
nb: 2 slices of bread could easily have more than 140 cals depending on white/wholemeal and thickness per slice.

@Crystal: This weekend has some temptation as i have an occasion to attend with a buffet, will muster all my will power and prayers to overcome the

Hi all,

Exercise

Tae Bo (Advanced) 55mins

Food

Breakfast: Cereal with Milk

Lunch: 1 Bread roll (white bread, couldn't resist tongue), 1/2 portion of rice and chicken curry, very very small avocado (Agaba don't even go there, grin)

Dinner: Pasta & Greek Salad

Snacks: 1 Biscuit, 1 Yoghurt

Drinks: Water, Black Coffee

Seems like i ate a lot today but they were all very small portions.

@ Ejadamen: Congrats on your new baby!

@ Crystal: the cable gym looks like it would give a good workout. Does it give a total body workout? might check it out online.

@ Modath: it is quite likely that your sitting posture during the pregnancy made the condition worse esp as you had to sit for 12 hrs, I've only really heard of the sciatica affecting women during pregancy, some even have to resort to walking with crutches till they give birth, then the pain disappears. Glad to see you are seeing a specialist though. Power walking can be just as effective as running the only thing you have to go at it for a longer period to get effective results. How do you find doing JM with your back esp the squats and some of those moves?
HealthRe: Daily Exercise And Food Routine For Those Who Want To Lose Weight by babs2011(f): 9:43pm On Apr 06, 2011
@Modath: Good you are taking it easy, no point in getting an injury and then not being able to do anything at all. Btw did the sciatica come with your pregnancies or did you have it before then?
The JM level 1 i found it hardgoing men, maybe cos i've not been working out for a few weeks, my fitness level needs to increase. I stuck it out though , thats the beauty of the workout, its over before you know it at 25 ish mins smiley

@Crystal: just read ur foodlog and remembered i ate the remaining half of my plantain chips this afternoon, forgot to log that! Also what is the Cable gym workout? sounds interesting, and also what is 'white soup'? sorry so many all the questions!

@HG: don't worry won't be eating any of that soon, have to travel a distance to get such delicacies smiley
HealthRe: Daily Exercise And Food Routine For Those Who Want To Lose Weight by babs2011(f): 7:58pm On Apr 06, 2011
nawa, we should just call this thread the buhari for/against campaigners   grin

@Gen: you should watch those nuts sha, good for you butt very high cal content so maybe smaller portions?
@Agaba: you nitpicking again? where is your own food log sef, lets dissect it!
HealthRe: Daily Exercise And Food Routine For Those Who Want To Lose Weight by babs2011(f): 7:25pm On Apr 06, 2011

HealthRe: Daily Exercise And Food Routine For Those Who Want To Lose Weight by babs2011(f): 10:17pm On Apr 05, 2011
modath:
@General  & Agaba,
You are no better than my almost 5 and 2yr old!!! but i adore the camaraderie all the same.BTW i am voting for Buhari too not because he is the love of my life but Jonathan's handlers are the reason we are in such deep s*** and they should be hidden in places where the sun never shines, My 2k.@Babs,
I do two levels at once and i do it with 3kg dumb bells too as well but i don't do the modified version,i am a bad backside so i am always with  ''Natalie''.LOL,I do it two days back to back then take a rest day but this week i did it yesterday walked for 30 min today and for tomorrow am thinking of doing  level three and some skipping after.I am taking it easy for the next few days so my sciatica wouldn't flare up again.
I love bread too but i stick with wheat bread and not the bland ones,i get mine from Tesco[Abuja] bakery or Park ''n'' shop,i cant stand the awful tasteless ones.Gag!!!!
My problem too used to be overeating cos i never had a sweet tooth, cake, pies, cookies, dodo, chocolate, pastries   e.t.c don't interest me but i can eat rice, eba, pounded yam, amala e.t.c meant for two people in a seating. My parents ''encouraged us to get second helpings'' and woe betide you if you don't clean out your plate.I love them and they are wonderful people but food wise they didn't raise us right.!!!!!
@ Modath, snap! I also have an almost 5 year old (will be in May) and a 2 year old.
I will see how I get on with JM level one tmrw, might add level 2 to it if i feel i need more of a workout. As per the bread issue, it is the bane of my life. My son loves sandwiches a lot so we always have to have bread in the house and he only likes white bread. I find that I can't only eat one slice of toast, once i start its like something possesses me and i almost end up eating half a loaf, terrible! embarassed So my solution is not to go near it in the first place.

Went for a  30 min walk after putting the kids to bed. Ended up jogging back home. Feel better now about all that plantain i ate earlier lol.

@Genbuhari: a small advocado has approx 170 calories.
HealthRe: Daily Exercise And Food Routine For Those Who Want To Lose Weight by babs2011(f): 6:27pm On Apr 05, 2011
@agbaI23: lol indeed na 'small avocado day' after finding out how many cals in them i had to reduce it to 'half' sef!
HealthRe: Daily Exercise And Food Routine For Those Who Want To Lose Weight by babs2011(f): 6:24pm On Apr 05, 2011
Thanks guys for the welcome  smiley

@ Modath,  I'm still trying to conquor that issue  i.e  get out of the camp of those that inadvertedly blow all the hard work of exercise away thru silly food choices or esp in my case overeating, God help me.

I'm 65kg need to get back down to 60kg. Height 5 foot 3"
HealthRe: Daily Exercise And Food Routine For Those Who Want To Lose Weight by babs2011(f): 6:12pm On Apr 05, 2011
ok, back to log my food/exercise:

Exercise: Tae bo - Get Ripped 40 mins (buckets of sweat!)

Food:

AM: Porridge, Milk, Almond flakes, Half teaspoon Honey
Lunch: 2 Bread Rolls with margarine.
Super: Stirfry Noodles with Veg, Prawns & Diced Chicken, loads of dodo ( shocked it all went downhill from there, ), half small avocado!
Snacks: Half Packet Plantain Chips, 1 Cereal bar.
Drinks: Water, Coffee, Ribena

So I admit I've gone overboard with the food today esp the plantain, had to stop eating the plantain chips when I realised how many cals are in a packet(around 250 cals per packet and its not even much in it, ) Found myself feeling very hungry and I know its because I exercised , its just making sure I don't overeat the cals for the day. Also going to avoid bread tmrw, I love bread so much esp white bread but it does me no favours so trying to cut back there.

@GenBuhari, just read your food log for today- it looks like you've hardly eaten much for today, considering your long walk, or have you not yet added your evening meal? I feel like a glutton reading mine back lol!

@Modath: going to do JM dvd tmrw. When I first got the dvd I worked my way up from level 1 to 3 doing it 3/4 times a week, but its been a while I've done it so going to start from level 1 again. I use 3kg weights. My plan is to do level 1 for 2 weeks then move to the next level. How are you doing it?

Feeling mighty bloated here so might go for a short walk later. Laters peeps.
HealthRe: Daily Exercise And Food Routine For Those Who Want To Lose Weight by babs2011(f): 9:31am On Apr 05, 2011
@ HG, same here- I am definitely more conscious of what and how much goes in my mouth when I've worked out than the days i dont do any w/o.
I think its psychological as you are aware of how much effort you've put in to burn those calories only to go an cancel it out because of some extra portion of rice, calorie ridden snack etc, and i suppose one feels good and positive after exercising so it sets the tone for the day.
what amazes me is how much effort it takes to burn say 250 calories in exercise, walking etc, yet eating 2 doughnuts nicely wipes that away in one fell swoop, angry Hm choices choices. Well hoping to make the right ones today, check bk in later!
HealthRe: Daily Exercise And Food Routine For Those Who Want To Lose Weight by babs2011(f): 9:42pm On Apr 04, 2011
Hi all, smiley I discovered this thread over the weekend and I've been reading through and love this sort of accountability/motivation from seeing others progress. So I've decided to join in as I think this is what I need to help me keep my weight/eating habits on track.

I would also like to log my daily food diary here and exercise efforts. In 2010 I lost my post baby weight gain through a combination of regular exercise, healthy eating and determination (it took around 10 months in total) and I dropped from size 16 to size 10. I lost nearly 20 kg in total.

Fast forward 6 months and the current situation is I'm struggling on the maintenance path and boy is it hard! The weight loss process seemed easier when I had a target in mind but now, there is no target per se, just healthy living as a way of life so I've been trying to establish good eating habits. Its not been easy. I've been so on and off with this and especially recently I slacked off from doing exercise as I was getting bored and my eating went haywire. My size 10 jeans were getting tight and I decided to face the music, stepping on the scale I discovered that I've put on around 5kg! I know this doesn't sound like much but I'm all aware how little by little this could creep up until I'm back to where I started from!
So I'm doing recovery and damage limitation now and trying to get back to basics. I will endeavour to post daly food intake and any exercise done. My main form of workouts are exercise dvds - particularly Tae bo (Billy Blanks) which I totally attribute to helping me achive a flat tummy after two kids - it really works. I also mix it up with some Jillian Michaels - 30 day Shred, and I try to run once or twice a week. So basically I aim for 4 workout sessions per week. So will start logging from tommorow.

Have a nice evening all!
