Calling all naturals, transitioners or those thinking of transitioning to natural hair. I'm currently transitioning to natural hair and documenting my hair journey through my blog www.knkylcs. - fun informative posts with hairstyles and pics also a sprinkle of lifestyle, fitness and well being posts thrown in. Check it out girls ! |
@Uche: I'm with you on the short intense workouts, I tend to clock watch a bit on the longer workouts, although Tae bo ones are not too bad as Billy blanks really engages you. Oh girl you really try getting in from work that late yet still managing to workout...kudos to you :! @ Ronky: great free styling there and well done on the skipping debut, excellent cardio ![]() Have a good weekend everyone. |

Wed 25th April Cathe Friedrich HIIT workout - 30 mins (talk about intense! @blabber15: welcome to the thread you are in the right place to jump start your motivation. Sometimes one can get into a rut and keep taking one step forward and two steps back. Until your head is in the right place with both eating right and exrcise, it might just seem as if one is going round in circles... Just keep logging your workouts here, it really helps keep you accountable and you would be encouraged by seeing others working towards and achieving their fitness/ weight loss goals. |
Tuesday 24th April Brisk walk/jog - 30 mins JM 'Ripped in 30' dvd (level 2) - 30 mins @HG: nicely done girl - the results speak for itself to those haters lol!@ML: good girl listening to your body, take it easy rest and soon you'll be back in fighting form! @fresh face: nice work there. uche13: Hey everyone. I can see the house is full. May it continue like this biko.@uche: Have you heard of Cathe Friedrich workout dvds? Most of them are at advanced level so would provide a challenge for an experienced exerciser and she is a really good instructor. She has quite a lot of DVDs out there but if you check amazon you should get a feel for her popular ones. I've just ventured out of my usual collection and decided to try something new, got her DVD kick max and was impressed. |
Freshface: Thank you Babs2011 and Ronkebp. The thing is that I skip dinner. So my breakfast and lunch usually don't add up to very much. I also try not to snack at all, just stick to my meals, mainly beans without oil. I try not to do carb more than once a day. The boy is 10mth, so we r not doing exclusive breastfeeding. I just breastfeed for him to help me lose wt (at least 200cal from him lol!). I want to look good for his first birthday party in may!@ff: ah, i see- thought you were doing exclusive...however personally I still think you could give yourself a little leeway with the calories. I admire your self control though, just 2 meals in the day and no dinner! I'm sure you will be a yummy mummy on your sons birthday ![]() |
@Ronky & ML: you girls are doing so great with the dedication to working out and I'm pleased that it's now showing forth in how you feel in your clothes and your bodies. Nothing beats that feeling when you can look in the mirror at your body and begin to like what you see, and ML you are indeed right about strength training helping to tone and firm the body. @HG: cant believe you are already on week 3 of your running program/ challenge, great stuff! I love hearing progress, helps keep me inspired. ![]() |
Welcome to all the newbies and lurkers on the thread today . So much activity from new posters I almost thought I was on the wrong thread! Lots of ideas on here as to exercise routines and definitley skipping is good cardio for burning those calories esp if you are consistent with it. Food intake is a major factor for weight loss so definitely monitor what you are eating so as to see good results. I'm sure some others would be along with other useful advice and links. As for the touters , pls don't come here derailing the purpose of the thread which is losing and maintaining weight loss the healthy way - exercise and watching portion sizes/healthier choices.@Freshface: well done on the loss girl, wow 2kg is a large loss ! Your daily calorie intake of 1000 seems a bit low though considering you are also b/feeding.. I would think you require a bit more calories than that, coupled with the great cardio you put in, you would still get a good and sustainable weight loss. |
Tuesday 17th April Cathe Friedrich Kick Max - 50 mins How you all dey? |
Monday 16th April Brisk walking - 50 mins Hope you all had a good day. |
@HG & Agaba (aka our house couple ): you guys crack me up with your backstage antics Even Gen B and his love of peanuts gets dragged into it..!funny enough I always assumed he is an older guy in his 60's haha (sorry Gen if you're not!) maybe cos of the 'gentle walks'...Talking about assumptions,Mr Echala I always assumed you were a girl/lady/lass, hm...wonder why i thought this, somehow your posts didn't come across like you were a guy anyway, good luck with the new challenge, its always good to reevaluate ones regime esp when things are becoming stagnant. I'm also due to start some HIIT workouts by Cath Friedrich, just waiting for them to arrive in the post!Hoping this switch would jumpstart things as my body seems to be used to tae bo etal ![]() @ML: that must have been a real ego boost and motivator when people start to see the results and comment. Well done babe ![]() @Freshface: nice work. 200 squats - good stuff! |
Friday 12th April Tae Bo Fat Blasting Cardio - 45 mins @HG: lol at your gym workout description! Seems this your female instructor is exactly what the doctor ordered btw, what is the reference to her being 'dark in complexion' all about?? Does this make her fiercer or what? Plz explain ![]() |
Thursday 12th April Tae Bo Ultimate Bootcamp - 54 mins @freshface: welcome and well done on the workout. @house: great to see the thread active and all, keeps me motivated. ![]() |
Wed 11th April JM 30 day shred (level 1) |
Thursday 5th April Tae Bo Cardio Bootcamp - 30 mins Nice and short workout for those days when time is limited. Billy bands (elastic stretch bands which loop around each foot) are needed for this workout, although one can do it without them. Plenty of kicks and punches and a few mins of abs thrown in at the end. There is no warm up in this, but good cool down at the end. |
Wed 4th April Jillian Michaels No More Trouble Zones - 55 mins This is an intense strength training and toning workout. Lots of lunges, bicep curls, ab work, planks etc.. Definitely for when one has up to an hour for working out. Just waiting to feel the aches tmrw There is a nice warm up and cool down which is essential for this workout.@Ronky: thanks for the info on kempo kickboxing. Will try to track it down on YT. Well done on the running. @HG: that camera incident sounds freaky lol! |
Tuesday 3rd April Tae Bo Everybody Get Ripped - 55 mins @modath:lol, know what you are talking about! There is a way iru and buba looks if you are not on the larger side to really fill it up. I hardly wear it, mostly sew skirt and blouse style due to this. |
Monday 2nd April Tae Bo Energise dvd - 30 mins Nice work everyone. ![]() |
Wed 28th March Tae bo Celebrity Get Fit - 43 mins Hour_Glass: "There is a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results."I also think this is a fab quote! I had a few changes to home life in the past few days with relatives over and an impending occasion coming up which is taking over everyones time at the moment.. Anyway it was begining to affect my routine and i found it difficult to get my flow back but i had to find a way to get back before i begin to descend down the slippery slope of excuses . Thus the above quote really rings true for me. |
Friday 23rd March Jillian Michael 30 day shred level 1 End of the week, yippe! So i decided to round off with some strength training with our dear Jillian. Good stuff ![]() Wishing you all a good weekend. Welcome to the thread Loretta You are more than welcome to join in and I'm sure that after a year since your c- section you should be ok now to do some exercise. what are your current stats and what is your goal weight?Make sure you start with gentle exercise to ease yourself into the habit of working out. Activities that raise your heart rate are what you should aim for. So things like going for brisk walks of 20mins plus, and if you can get hold of exercise Dvds they can be quite effective especially if you are short on time and no gym near you. If you have good Internet access there are quite a few workouts on YouTube you can follow. The key is to start with small goals and build on it in time. Logging your exercise here will keep you accountable and there is support if you are losing motivation. Hope this helps. @Uche, well done girl on getting to level 3! As per the whole weight and scale issue with strength training, that happens to me too and I tend to loose inches rather than pounds or kgs. Not sure of the eating more etc, could be your metabolism is faster due to muscle built... ?? I'm not sure of the reason sha..Maybe someone can shed some light? |
Tuesday 20th March Running - 35 mins Hope you are all having a good day. |
Monday 19th March Compulsory rest day! I had to listen to my body when I awoke this morning -was not feeling too strong and seemed i was coming down with something. Anyway, i heeded and rested today. It did me good as I am feeling stronger now. Back on form tomorrow by Gods grace. ![]() Nice work ML, Echala Modath, easy with the strength training! |
Sunday 18th March Ive kicked off the start of the new week with my running session. It's my 'long run Sunday' workout today - 60 mins My new goals for this week: -Exercising portion control in all my main meals this week. - & Carb control. Happy mothers day to all the mummies in the house! ![]() @modath, praise God for that mighty deliverance, God is faithful. Cheering all my peeps on with our workouts this week, let's do it! Wishing you all an energetic and fulfilled week ahead. |
Friday 16th March 1000 skips (yeah, I really counted them hah..my thighs o) Right so there goes another week! Achieved my goals set this week -the increased water intake has done wonders and really helped my skin especially, never been smoother although ive had to deal with the constant loo trips! Also pleased with my w/o's this week and definitely feel better in myself, my clothes are feeling looser and the positive comments are rolling in...not bad if I say so myself eh?! Lol -as you can tell I'm buzzing here...long may it last ![]() Wishing you all a good weekend x |
@HG: right behind you girl cheering you on to finish level 2! That sisi pelebe sounds yummy... |
