Running/ interval sprints - 40 mins

@modath- yeah its beginning to feel like naija harmattan, though this british weather is so unpredictable- tmrw it could all be frosty and cold, then by the next day it's like a lovely summer day. we will soon be the same time zone as naija ( next week) so we will have lighter evenings. I'm a bit worried about the mornings as when I go for my run at 6am it is still a bit dark with the sun coming thru about 6.20 ish... With the clocks going forward next week it would mean by 6am it will still be quite dark, not so keen on running in the dark.. Anyway I'll cross that bridge when I get there smiley

@ ML: my dear, thank you jare. I'm enjoying the running, lest I say it is addictive too.
Good workout with the Tae bo. I have that Billy ultimate bootcamp dvd and it's one of the ones I do when I mean business, 60mins of good cardio/ toning. My little girl used to pop downstairs too when I'm busy firing kicks left and right and she tries to join in usually ends up falling over herself lol. I also have to stop just in case I mistakenly land one on her! I've had to combat these interruptions by sacrificing the extra 30 mins in bed to get a head start before the kiddies wake!

Sunday 11th March

Running/jogging/sprints - 75 mins

A new week!

Had a long running session today. Sunday is my 'long run' day as I have a lot more time in the mornings. Didnt think i could go as far as i did today so quite pleased with this. Still can't believe how quickly my fitness level has improved in just a week. I've found my skipping rope again and managed to do 300 skips yesterday. Will see if I can incorporate a few mins of skipping into my day this week.

New goals for this week:

1.Workouts- including running, some Tae bo sessions.

2. Increase water intake.


Ps: Well done HG on the loss, great to see things moving in the right direction and you are really in the zone!

ML: well done on your workouts, I see you've been 'shredding' smiley great stuff girl!

Jillian Michael Yoga Meltdown - 35mins

Yippee, it's the end of the week, tGif!
I decided to ease into the weekend with our beloved Jillian  shocked I sweated my ar*se off with this fast moving yoga dvd.
Feels good to tick off both my mini goals set at the start of the week  smiley. so much progress in just a week. On sunday I was huffing and puffing and doing lots of stop starts on the run, by yesterday I was able to run non-stop 30mins at a good pace. I already feel lighter and more energetic and I'm sleeping better at night.
Rest day tmrw.

@agaba:what's up dude? missing your workout logs on here of late,  seems to be more of cakes and other 'cough' things hehe  tongue

Thursday 8th march

Run - 30mins

Welcome back Gen. I second HG's words. I also now log my food on another site where there can be a better analysis and feedback for me etc. I find that when I workout, there is this subconscious desire to make healthy choices with my food. I have less cravings and binge episodes. Food definitely is a bigger part of weight loss than exercise alone. Exercise has far reaching health benefits though.

Uche- you are alright my dear, don't over analyse the cake! You are living the real life, not the dress rehearsal for it. The way you have chosen is a lifestyle choice, not a quick fix, so moments like this are going to happen and are factored in. You are allowed to indulge every one in while, its knowing when to stop and not doing it too much that is the key. There will always be birthdays, parties etc to attend but as long as you are in control of the food and not the other way round, you are fine. smiley

Feel great this morning smiley I thought I'd do a dvd when I woke up but opted for a jog as it's now brighter here from just after 6am. The wind was fresh on my face and I just enjoyed the nice quiet jog before most pole were on the roads. My fitness level is nowhere where it was before I took a break but gradually I know it will build back up with consistent exercise. So for today I was huffing and puffing along, pushing thru to the finish line. It's all good.

HG:hope your headache has vamoosed?

@HG, ML, Ronky, Agaba, how you all dey na? great to see you all fighting fit and continuing on your programs. Well done guys! Also big helllo to the newbies on here too. smiley

I have been absent for much longer than I initially anticipated. Thank God I am now back to health and strength after feeling below par for a while. I really needed to the rest and time out to get my strength back.

Well this week it's back to business as usual.

I have 2 mini goals I want to set myself for this week.

1. I aim to work out at least 30mins a day for six days starting today and ending Friday. By workout this could take the form of brisk walking, run, exercise dvds etc. As long as my heart rate is up for 30 mins a day.
2. Log the workout daily on this forum.

Ok so those are my min goals for the week, I will assess by the end of the week, then set new ones for the following week.

@HG: i still hate those weird side lunges undecided My initial challenge were the press ups as my upper body strength is not that great. I just made sure to do one or two more extra than I would normally. Eg I usually found myself giving up say at 5 sets, then determined to push to 7 sets the next time I did the workout etc, Hth.

@HG: don't feel bad for missing a day, like you said there is always tomorrow and sometimes the body just needs that recovery and rest. Sure you know all this already anyway but it's still easy to feel bad, Sleep well and you should be all refreshed to tackle tmrw.

I am putting taebo 3 days a week till end of this challenge.


^ snap, that is actually my routine for January - 3 days Tae bo, 2 days Shred/Ripped in 30.  I found last year when I did the Ripped in 30 everyday for like 3 weeks I lost inches but not that much weight loss on the scales. Also felt a bit bulked up sha. Tae bo is my 'go to' for cardio and helps speed up my metabolism and fitness, also mega calorie burn the longer the workout.

Alas I couldn't get my early workout in this morning, hm i set the alarm and all but tiredness and willpower sha! undecided will try and fit in some cardio during the day. So food intake has to be on point today, no wasteful cals,

So All my visitors have left this end and now can get back to routine. The baking was temptation o, but I gave most of the goodies away to family and visitors so none in the house for me to devour!
Toying btw starting the 30 ds/ ripped in 30 DVD for my jan challenge. Realised how good it is to set oneself challenges cos then you have something to work towards and motivate one. And they r not too long to do in the morning.

Ultimate Bootcamp Tae bo - 52mins

Plodding on here with the exercise and sensible eating. I def feel lighter and jeans fit better! I'm in a good place and glad I sorted it now rather than waiting till the new year.
Today has been so so busy fitting in food shopping with a quick trip to touch up my hair. Didn't want to be joining the mad rush tmrw, and will be instead be busy baking and making festive snacks and munchies etc. Now i just need to make sure I don't scoff too much of these goodies! Saving myself for Xmas day and even then, all with moderation <she says with fingers crossed heehee> wink

@HG: woohoo on completing the 30day target you set yourself!! grin It's a good achievement and shows what one can do when you set your mind to it.
@Ronkus : can imagine ur hubby shaking his head at you doing some quick exercise whilst cooking hehe, I used to do squats whilst cooking too, good to seize every opportunity ya know wink!
