Howdy all?

Thursday 22nd Dec

Exercise: Tae bo Energise (cardio and floor work) 40mins

Food: porridge oats, pasta and mince bolognese, 1 boiled egg, plain boiled beans.

Drinks: 2ltrs + water

@HG: well done on going for the burn this morning. Buzzing girl  wink as for the light head/ dizzy feeling it happens to me at times and I always work out on an empty stomach as I exercise 1st thing in the morning. I found that if the room was not well ventilated I would feel nauseated unless I opened the windows for enough air. For me not sure it was a lack of food but I found having enough ventilation whilst working out eliminated that dizzy/nauseous feeling.

@ML: good to listen to your body, I now don't beat myself up for missing a workout if I'm tired etc.
@agaba: how far? Cant afford to get rusty o lol
@modath: how u dey?
@Ronkus: good going girl with that exercise. I have heard of that Denise babe too, like the sound of the kick boxing one (I'm a Tae bo girl @ heart wink) Will check out the revs on amazon, might add to my collection!

Sup guys <sneaks in quietly and looks round>, back from my time away. wink

Had a lot going on in my personal life the past couple of months hence the absence. Thank God things are better now.
Funny enough did not have time to check in, even to lurk so I've just had a quick browse of the last 10 pages of the thread to get a picture of where peeps are at, and I must say I'm impressed with the motivation going strong here. Well done folks!

Exercise wise, before I took a break from here I was really struggling to get with the program once again and my head was def not in the right place. Glad to say I'm getting my mojo back and my head is back in the right place. The cold winter has really kicked in here so double motivation needed to get out of warm bed at 5.30am to exercise! Also it's now dark here by 4pm so no more outdoor walking etc, so i'm really relying on my Jillian and Tae bo DVDs to keep me in shape

I first thought about coming back in January cos it's the start of a new year etc,  But like HG mentioned, it's just really another month and I don't want to eat my way thru December just cos it's a festive period and everyone here is stuffing their faces with chocs and mince pies grin  sensible eating and portion control is the way forward.

So yeah, back to logging for me. Oh and Captain HG, watch your back cos I'll be giving u a run for your money on that ultimate bootcamp Tae bo <looks at it lovingly on bookshelf> grin grin

Zumba class - 60 mins

A friend invited me to go along with her this evening to a Zumba class. It was my first time doing this type of class.

All I can say is wow! I've been missing o shocked what a thrilling time, lots of hip thrusting, waist wiggling, fast steps etc, man, sure i will ache tmrw but in a good way wink

A fun way to work out indeed. Highly recommended!
Health / Re: Daily Exercise And Food Routine For Those Who Want To Lose Weight by babs2011(f): 10:15am On Oct 19, 2011
@HG: I'm not surprised you like Billy Blanks  grin afterall you were always a tae bo queen whilst Modath is the 'shred'/JM queen and I'm a bit of both hehe  wink

My favourite Tae bo workout dvd has to be 'Get Ripped'. It's one of his early ones and you have everyone in the class to keep you motivated from an 8yr old girl to a 70 something year old mama all working out like mad. A very fun and energetic workout that targets all areas. It's about 45mins in all so not too long. Always feel buzzed when i do this one.
I also like the 'Ultimate Bootcamp' and 'Tae bo Advanced' for one when I'm in the mood for a thorough drilling from BB and want to push myself harder. They are both approx 60mins long so I do them when I have that time planned out.
My 'go to' taebo dvd for when I'm short on time is 'Cardio Bootcamp Live' at only 29mins long from start to end - it's just perfect to slot into a busy schedule.

A bit achey this morning so rest day today, although might try and incorporate some walking into my day later if poss.

Hey guys,

Great to see you are still keeping the thread 'alive' and welcome to all the newbies.

I'm still on track here but just need to get back into logging it on here consistently. I've just had a few changes in my normal routine which means I'm quite shattered by the end of the day and have such early starts. However I will endeavour to pop in here more frequently and log. I've been doing Tae bo dvds but need to get re-acquainted with my arch enemy Jillian Michaels Shred and Ripped dvds lol, I've been putting it off but need to introduce some strength training in my routine.

PA hope you are ok?
ML great to see you keeping on. Consistency pays smiley
HG, nothing do you, love your little nuggets of truth.
Modath, babe how far now?
Agaba, thats how you disappeared sha, drop us a line here also Gen B,

Good weekend to all!

Hey house, I'm here o, just been a bit low but gradually getting back that mind frame. The thread spirit has also been a bit quiet and banter not really going on, so I guess this affected my motivation to post.

Anyway I've been doing my bits of cardio here and there. I've taken a brief break from the dvds for some variety. My neighbour decided that we should start going for our power walks again, but this time early in the morning - 6am sessions shocked! She has a big black labrador that comes along with us as our 'body guard' lol. We've done 2 sessions of these this week (60 mins per session). Its kind of refreshing to be out there when the world is still asleep, peaceful and quiet before the busyness of the day begins.

Think I need to have a personal log to note my food and emotions attached to it. Been a bit of emotional eating going on, embarassed

Agaba where you dey now and also GenBuhari?? and Toluperf? drop us a line so we know you are alright.

agabaI23:

@Babsy
Level 3 must be very hard for you to have dropped 25 minutes. Well done though.

The coiling thing is weight stuff.

It is an exercise whereby one raises up a weight from below the trunk up to the shoulder. One can do that with two hands one at time or both hands at the same time which is more difficult.

^@Agaba: I didn't drop 25mins o, level 3 is only 30 mins long. This JM Ripped dvd and her 30 day shred all contain 30 min workouts.

Thanks for showing what the 'coiling' workout looks like. It sounds like bicep curls though? Those are serious weights your carrying too, all for your bulking biceps shocked

@HG: yay welcome back babe smiley and good to see you are still on track, its good to know what ones food triggers are.
@PA: keep up the good work.
ps: pls what is cardoon? There is food i've never heard of in your logs smiley interesting!

PA1982:

Thanks for the support!

Between 1,000 and 1,500 calories.
I log everything, so you can calculate the sums for yourself, if you're interested.
Clothes are starting to feel better and I'm going to buy a scale today.
Sustainability of my 'diet'?
I'm following the Zone diet, which is more or less for the rest of your life.
You can't lose the weight you want and then go back to eating the way you used to!

And yes, lots of lofat cheese and nofat yoghurt. Cheap and easy.
And tofu. Lots of tofu.

Speaking of calries, how many calories are burnt up in one of those workout sessions?
I'm sure it's been posted up before, but I couldn't see it!

@PA: I'm not one for calorie counting so wouldn't be able to tell from your logs. It's just that from looking at your logs the diet didn't look varied enough and seemed very scanty, lol maybe its just how its logged, Anyway what i meant by 'sustainability is just that a lot of these 'fad' diets are for quick results and don't represent a good balanced diet. I notice you hardly eat grains/carbs which also have their role in a balanced diet. That's why I'm a bit skeptical tbh as to diets as really one wold get tired of just eating yogurts and cheese some day! For me the key is just to eat a good balanced diet and even with food which might be on the high side calorie wise just to learn to reduce portions, i know its easier said than done sha! The calories burnt in a typical Tae bo session vary depends on the dvd and yor own intensity but roughly around 400-500 calories per session.
Health / Re: Daily Exercise And Food Routine For Those Who Want To Lose Weight by babs2011(f): 9:36am On Aug 15, 2011
Happy new week all!

@PA: Yes its usually quiet on here at the weekends, guess pple are busy with occasions, catching up with friends and family etc.
Anyway glad to see you keeping on with your logs. How many calories do you have per day? Also are you able to report some progress with the scales and even how you feel in your clothes? That really helps to see the results of ones efforts. I must say I am still amazed at how little it seems you eat on this diet, your energy levels and the sustainability of this diet. Also it appears to consist of a variety of cheese most of the time!

@Tolu:
Tolulop001:

Hey all,
been a while sad

omo work has never been as stressful as it has been this past couple of weeks. i know i whine on here a lot but y'all have to bear with me  smiley
Asking about treadmill when there is so much work to do at the office would make one look unserious, lol. the next down time we have I'll be sure to ask him again.

General Update - just generally been good, only there was this day i had 2 wraps of semo with some kain lovely veggie soup with goatmeat, im sure that meal alone was like some 1200 calories! Never to happen again by God's grace!

In the course of all this i started to use Tae Bo Cardio. . .

babs i have to give it to you,  45 mins of that that thing is crazy, with those girls with ripped abs making it look so easy sad

im gonna try to incorporate into my every day activities, maybe 20 mins every day? I just need to put in a little everyday, everyday being the operative word.

CONGRATS ON THE 1KG!!!

^ eeyah, hope your work settles down a bit and the stress levels reduce. Glad to hear you are giving Tae bo a shot. It can be intense and fast paced but the more you do it, your fitness levels will improve and you will be sailing thru it smiley I always have to psyche myself to complete the workout as i know its more mind over matter most of the time. And Billy blanks is a great instructor, the way he encourages you to not give up. I always say this but I find that if i do my workout first thing in the morning then i know its done and then I can get on with my day and not struggle to find time to fit it in later. You have to make time for working out, it sure takes self discipline.  wink

@Gen house: hope you are all fine. Shout out to those peeps m.i.a ; GenB, Hg hope you guys are fine?
