Sunrisepebble: I’m not a trader. I’m a tradinvestor I think I should add to Transcorp too to be honest. The valuation is still ok at current price, but I bought quite a lot between 44-47 already Started buying TRANSCORP from the N7.5 PO and later averaged down to about N1 before reconstruction. Decided to stop the bad habit of not averaging up based on prospects. As I missed averaging up on PRESCO that my cost remain about N8. |

megawealth01: So it's a GAME A game in which every stock will return to base as you said earlier. Some will return to base within a year, some within a decade and some within a century. That’s reality. The best money made is in dividends in between. Makes dividends valuation model a lovely model when buying when front seats already taken. |

I mentioned when I sold Ellah to recover original investment while leaving more than half. Sold because the N250b acquisition looked too big for Ellah. The best way forward is for Ellah to set up an arrangement with the sellers to buy only a small portion like 5% or 10% and start building operating experience and start demonstrating responsible accounting. Do that for a year or two and buy more later. That’s if the seller is okay for such arrangement. Will be interesting to see the next moves.
It’s always good to have a front seat when one is speculatively investing. In fact in every investment it’s good to know your risk exposure. |

awesomeJ: Based on yesterday's notifications, the multiple X-ALERT Issue seems resolved. Anyone who got multiple notifications from yesterday's trading should please mention. Please note that a bid for 1000 units at 2300.00 for instance, which got filled as 500 units at 2300.00 twice doesn't count as multiple notifications. Or 200 units 5 times, . Yesterday’s trade X-ALERT were not duplicated. But came about 4:30pm. Loading more Transcorp |

EDUECO: I meant insiders are buying and not selling.
ACCESSCORP is the biggest Nigerian bank; and it is a pan-african international bank like UBA. If insiders are picking up more we’ll see some traces in the annual reports. I suspect it’s some fat funds exiting. When they finish it may go up according to how good their results and dividends are. |
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by BabsO2(m): 4:22pm On Feb 17 |
EDUECO: Both UBA and ACCESSCORP were around ₦29 in January 2024.
ACCESSCORP is supposed to be around ₦59 if not that insiders are hindering the price appreciation. It is not a good sign if insiders are selling. Perhaps a large fund is bent on exiting. Or perhaps some in the know of bad acquisitions and impending impairments is exiting. |

awesomeJ: X-ALERT bug seems even crazier today. I've probably gotten 2k alerts just for today.
They seem to be sending each alert 6 different times. I observed it for Oando purchase last Friday. Didn’t bother counting number of messy repetitions. They were just too many. Checked CSCS today and confirmed what was ordered was what was bought. |

mikeapollo: I think rhey will also raise capital through long term debt e. g. debentures denominated in foreign currency. My concern is what happens to the remainder shares for redistribution and how they will redistribute, if at all What will the qualification date be for the any other redistribution apart from the second one of last year that is still pending credit into CSCS? Further redistribution apart from this two is unlikely. Like I said previously better they sell them as rights to those interested and use it to ease financial stress. |

Those invested in Oando gather here. I have the following NAV valuation based on reserves computed as follows Company NAV per Share Oando N429 Seplat N 8,980 Aradel N997
Oando is at a deep discount based on reasons already discussed upandan here. Most especially will its turnaround succeed in view of its debt over load. This NAV of N429 is the value those lending money to Oando see and are taking a good cut of. And the market has discounted it to current price of N39 to reflect its high risk turnaround profile.
As low margin revenues from trading goes down, will management succeed in transforming Oando into 👉 A leaner upstream-focused energy company 👉 With stronger balance sheet 👉 With sustainable free cash flow 👉 With higher reserve monetisation efficiency And work towards its NAV based on reserves? |

awesomeJ: Yes, I didn't read your post well. @iskalamong helped my hastiness.
You're right about unrealized fx gains from 2024 becoming losses.
We'll see that in FY '25 results for those who have unrealized gains from 2024. FCMB unaudited has N5b in comprehensive statement recorded clearly as a loss due to FX Translation and another 30b due to fair values (likely FX related if one looks through the notes. But with massive growth recorded in PAT in 2025 these loses are did not impact the comprehensive income growth that much. WEMA doubled growth in PAT and comprehensive income with no FX wahala. |

unite4real: CBN supposed to share in the forex loss since they shared in the gain last time I think govt taxed only the realized gains. But gains not yet realized were not taxed. Realized gains means the Fx assets were already disposed. Hence no losses can occur with respect to them if naira strengthens. |
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by BabsO2(m): 9:11pm On Jan 29 |
awesomeJ: For most companies, their fx exposures are net liabilities. So this strengthening will translate into gains. Although this won't materialize until end Q1.
Am I missing your point though?
What I see is every company that recorded FX gains in 2025 did so on naira strengthening, more strengthening thus only translates into more gains for them.
PZ for instance will might have to value their FX Obligations below 1350 next month. Another N70 gains for them. I am talking about banks. Not manufacturing companies. |

awesomeJ: Finally: Naira closed at 1396.99 today.
🎉🎉
Next we await strengthening below 1350. This should make some already reported FX related gains in banking stocks comprehensive income turn into losses. Though the severity may be muted due to growing incomes. |

ojeysky: Yes I think you are correct. They may want to do either PO or PP at a higher price because the RI was oversubscribed and they returned back funds to me from my extra purchase during the RI which means they probably don't want to sell that low Good to hear they returned excess bid for more rights |

zendi: The sign that it was not going well was when they extended the offer period. Never mind they implied it was to give the whole world that was scrambling for it the opportunity to participate. With this development the price will likely not go beyond the previous high for a while. And will likely not fall below the PO price. Perhaps a few deeps below if there are desperate exiters, but based on prior trends this bearish streak is currently weak. |
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by BabsO2(m): 9:31am On Jan 29 |
zendi: The main question to me is the situation now of the big acquisition that should have concluded by Dec end. Is there any kind of cooking that will help them seal a transaction they have no funding for? My guess is a fluid situation where an agreement needs to be reached with the original sellers to buy back (hold) more of what they are selling. If so they will need to come to an agreement / arrangement of controls for this situation for right now and in the days and years ahead. |

iHaveMadeiT2: That's the contradiction because it has resisted the sell mode of participants of the RI from when the price was below 3. Now price is approaching 5. Correct observation. Going forwards, If the results turnaround steadily towards growth, with dividends streaming as promised in the rights marketing, the price will continue to resist falling. |

Agbalowomeri: You no talk 1B sef Na so most bidders go queue up at the upper bound price unlike the less liquid stocks. People will only buy now for dividend. What do you think they will pay as final dividend? I think most will just repeat the same thing they paid for last year First Bank needs to go up to at least N1. Preferably N2.5 UBA needs to go up to at least N2.5 |

BabsO2: https://nairametrics.com/2026/01/08/kpmg-flags-gaps-warns-new-tax-laws-could-trigger-disputes-capital-flight/
Given Nigeria’s high inflation environment, the firm warned that this approach could result in substantial tax liabilities on asset disposals, even where real economic gains are minimal.
To mitigate this risk, the firm recommended the introduction of a cost indexation allowance as a quick policy win. The proposed indexation would use the Consumer Price Index from acquisition to disposal dates, with December 31, 2025, as a baseline.
This adjustment, the firm noted, would not increase capital losses but would align tax obligations more closely with economic realities. I like the way KPMG nailed the issues with CGT |

https://nairametrics.com/2026/01/08/kpmg-flags-gaps-warns-new-tax-laws-could-trigger-disputes-capital-flight/Further scrutiny falls on Sections 39 and 40, which calculate capital gains based on the difference between sales proceeds and the tax-written-down value of assets without considering inflation.
