TV/MoviesRe: Is Nollywood Controlled By Igbos? (Tribalised?) by babwilms(m): 2:53pm On Jul 04, 2006
Yoruba movies can't be done in English for so many reasons. One of the reasons is that we need something that can be called our own not the borrowed language. The best we can do is to give subtitles in English. Also because it will loose its value (Yoruba). There is something about the Yoruba language and movies in general.

@cjloejade. Don't get me wrong, I do like the English team, but they really need to improve to beat the likes of Germany, Argentina, Brazil. You can see from my above post, I made suggestions on how they could achieve this.

Thank you very much Akolawole. People seems to think all is well in the UK. To my knowledge because I've been in the system over 9 years now and I'll tell you everything is wrong with the UK. Except their education and transportation. I know one Indian guy (very intelligent) with a masters degree in IT or so, and he works in Tesco's. Common in the UK, unless you have the English papers.

1)How are you going to obtain your national insurance number (NI) or have you got one already? Hope you are not planning on getting a fake one.
2)Hope you are ready for a rough ride if you decide to come back to the UK. Accommodation.
3)If you are planning to stay in London, think twice because their are more no jobs, people are now migrating to other cities like Manchester, Birmigham and Leeds.
4)It depends on what degree you have? I know they are in need of nurses and Doctors.
5) The British are now complaining about their graduates moving abroad especially to USA and Asia because of better oppoutunities, so they are finding ways to keep them here.

Its better for you to come to the UK to try your luck before your visa runs out, if unsuccessful, my guy return to Nigeria or better still most companies here in UK will tell you to apply on-line. So why don't you apply on-line in Nigeria for UK companies while waiting for the Nigeria companies you've applied for.

SportsRe: England Vs Germany: World Cup 2006 by babwilms(m): 2:30pm On Jun 27, 2006
England getting to the final or beating Germany can be compared to me playing in the next worldcup. England is the most over rated team in this worldcup and they are boring to watch. I always fall asleep when watching them play for some reason.

Unless Sven Goran Eriksson follow the analysis given by Davidylan. Play Lennon, bench Lampard, bring on Owen Hagreves, Joe Cole should not under use Ashley Cole on the left flank and finally keep the ball on the grass and a bit of help from Babalawo. Then they might just!! have a chance of getting to the final or beat Germany.

TV/MoviesRe: Is Nollywood Controlled By Igbos? (Tribalised?) by babwilms(m): 5:05pm On Jun 23, 2006
@K2Dac. So Yoruba and Hausa movies are not part of Nollywood abi?. I find that statement hilarious . From your statement it shows you are not expose to Nollywood at all. My apologies if you find it offensive. You probally failed to acknowledge the publicity of Yoruba or any other tribes movies.

No, Igbo's do not control Nollywood.
RomanceRe: How to Treat a Girl: Macho Man or Mr. Nice? by babwilms(m): 4:37pm On Jun 23, 2006
Let me yarn.

I see ladies as bunch of confused species. At least 90% of ladies don't know what they want. I know some will get defensive here. But what I'm saying is true unless you want to deny it.

My advice to guys in this joint on how to treat your ladies " Be mean and keep them keen"

All my Mr nice guy (Which i am by nature), still dey leave me searching.
TV/MoviesRe: Is Nollywood Controlled By Igbos? (Tribalised?) by babwilms(m): 9:00am On Jun 23, 2006
@K2Dac. Can i ask you some questions. I think you are only judging only by the Nigerian movies you are exposed to.

1) What do you mean by Nollywood? Is it just the english home videos (mostly Igbos) or other tribes inclusive you are talking about.

2) Does the Igbo's produce more films than the Yoruba's? I strongly believe not. What about the Hausa's and other
tribes in Nigeria are thay not part of Nollywood?. Don't tell me, with the addition of these tribes, Igbo's still dominate Nollywood?. Not to even talk of Yoruba's only.

3) I see almost the same faces in English movies every time, few old faces and new faces relatively. But that is not the case in Yoruba movies, at least compare to English movies.

Peace.

fNigerians always harp on irrelevancies!
and Americans or Europeans don't harp on irrelevancies abi? What about King Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey, Chief Stephen Osita (Osadebe), Sunny Okosun, Late Paul I.K. Dairo, Orlando Owoh, Moses Olaiya a.k.a Babasala. Do they harp on irrelevancies.

Well from the list i would go for:

@Hucarson. So you are now calling us all greasy heads, just because we are on the opposition side to ur views. This needs to stop, its not healthy. We are only giving our views, but you have started calling us names. Not that we can't call u names as well.

Lets get back to the topic.

I do agree with u to some extent on the Henry not performing well enough when it comes to big stages. But you still cannot deny the fact, that Henry is the best out their in the world right now. Yes i mean that. Some might say Dinho.

I enjoy high life type of music. Kingsuuny Ade, Ebenezer Obey, Lagbaja, I.K. Dairo, Sunny Nneji, them too much. But i do not like the English ones and I do not dislike them either.
