The celebrated fraud called Lagos which is often summarised in the "Lagos is working"slogan was brought to bare today right in d very hrt of the city. To say that ikeja was nearly submerged in water today ll b an understatement. the most annoying part is,btw ikeja under bridge and allen junction, a route dat one cud ply in less dan 3 minutes turned to 2 hours all because it rained. So I begin to wonder...if a celebrated govt dat get over 4 hundred billion naira internally generated revenue annually cannot fix drainages for nearly eight yrs of its existence, then am really scared as to wht d future hold for us all as people. This is nt abt PDP or APC bt its abt d frustration of a tax paying lagosian.my only shoe almost got damaged in dat unfortunate episode.i cud nt just bliv my eyes.the place in question for crying out loud is nt one of d slums around bt d capital of the state.the governor sits just a few kilometres from d scene of the madness. 15 Likes 2 Shares

Politics / I Am A Member Of The Apc...convener BBOG by babyhrt(m): 11:44pm On Oct 24, 2014 |
I’m APC member – Hadiza Below is Hadiza’s full statement, “I have watched, with keen interest, recent attempts by some principal officers of the Federal Government of Nigeria to discredit me and the #BringBackOurGirls group. This is not new. It has been the case since we commenced our citizens-driven advocacy movement, which explains why my initial reaction was to ignore the chatter and concentrate on the noble work of the #BringBackOurGirls campaign. Unfortunately, my humble silence is being taken as license to further dissuade and divide the populace by spreading inaccurate information, through advertorials, thereby tagging the #BringBackOurGirls group as an affiliate of the APC. “I, Hadiza Bala Usman, the Convener/Initiator of the #BringBackOurGirls movement, is a member of the APC, and there has been no time I have hidden this fact or tried to mask it. But let’s be clear, when I worked to mobilize women, men, and Nigerians at large to come out on April 30th to protest that the Government should intensify efforts to #BringBackOurGirls, I did so not as an APC member, but first as a HUMAN BEING, as a WOMAN, a MOTHER, a NIGERIAN and an AFRICAN. It was never about politics and/or my political affiliations; it was rather about our shared humanity as human beings. As a mother, I have experienced the trauma of not knowing where my child is for few minutes; does it then surprise many why I would be moved to act on behalf of mothers who are yet to see their daughters for 2 weeks (at the first instance) and now over 189 days after? “I came out as a concerned citizen of Nigeria, one that is very interested in the unity, growth, and development of this nation; one that knows the important role an educated girl-child would play in contributing to the success we all anticipate for our dear country. That these girls dared education in the face of terrorism, intimidation, insecurity, and other life-threatening circumstances, is a rare display of courage, doggedness, and hope. This is why I, alongside other #BringBackOurGirls campaigners, daily advocate to make sure these girls are not forgotten, but that they come home to contribute their quota to national development. “This moment therefore offers for us a unique chance to stand united as a nation, whether you are in PDP, APGA, APC, or any political party; Christian or Muslim; from the North or the South. The issue of the abducted Chibok girls is an opportunity to UNITE and not DIVIDE – to unite against insurgency, terrorism, and every common enemy that seeks to divide us as a people. We must unite to ensure that every girl and boy in Nigeria has equal access to education. We must unite to change the narrative that no matter one’s tribe, gender, religion, social strata, interests, and political affiliations, we can all come together as one to transform our beloved nation for the best. “I, Hadiza Bala Usman, choose to tow the path of UNITY. I will not be intimidated by anyone, and I will continue to stand for the Chibok girls regardless of my tribe, religion and political affiliation”. Hadiza’s admission co-incided with a letter of apology by Chief Ogbe in which he told the BBOG that he did not intend to make them uncomfortable, but rather was out to show solidarity with their good works and insisted that the demand of the group must be acceded to by the federal government by taking every necessary step to bring back the girls. In a separate statement, in Abuja, yesterday, Chief Ogbe lamented that the greatest tragedy of the Chibok girls abduction was that the federal government was in denial and did nothing after it became too late to immediately rescue the innocent students. His words, “the tragedy of the Nigerian situation with regards to these Chibok girls is that from the very beginning, Government and some leading members of the POP were in complete denial. “Sarcastic comments were even attributed to a woman leader of the ruling party. In one part of this country, a group of governors at their gathering, in unmistakable mockery and callous indifference, said that if girls were missing, their names should be sent to them so they could help find them. “Since then, nothing concrete has been offered the Nigerian public by way of regular briefings about what the government is doing about these girls. It would seem therefore that the matter should be treated as another football match lost which should be forgotten. It took a 17 year old Pakistani girl called Malala within the age bracket of these girls to come to Nigeria to wake up our conscience. “But for the BBOG, Nigeria would have portrayed herself to the world as a strange society that cares nothing for human -life, especially those of the children. While the rest of the world from Africa, Europe, Asia and the Pacific rose up in shocked reaction to this tragedy, we at home here have succumbed to petty politics and ethnic chauvinism. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/10/bbog-apc-link-coordinator-admits-apc-membership/ |

[quote author=brownlord1 post=27038145]If not for anything, i just like to see it on CNN breaking news " Nigeria issue traveling warning to citizens traveling to United State" that's if the hypocritical media house of them will show such news anyway. But then, even if U.S turn to liberia or guinnea with worst case of Ebola, sorry that won't stop Nigerians from lining up at embassy for visa. would so love that. |
Politics / Fg.. Issue A Travel Warning Now!!! by babyhrt(m): 10:08pm On Oct 10, 2014 |
I have been expecting the foreign affairs ministry or who ever is in charge to issue a TRAVEL WARNING to all Nigerians travelling to the US,UK,SPAIN and GERMANY as regards the EBOLA outbreak in these countries. This has become necessary for two reasons: 1.The safety of Nigeria as a country in light of the fact that we cannot reject our citizens who may be retuning from any of these countries. 2.Like they always say wht goes round come round.the US particularly have been issuing travel warnings to her citizens, advising them against coming to Nigeria at every slightest challenge that we face as a country the Nigeria Govt must officially issue a travel warning now to Nigerians going to these ebola infested countries.this at least would prevent d importation of the virus back to Nigeria and send a diplomatic msg to the appropriate quarters. |

15th September, 2014 Home North rejects INEC’s additional polling units, tackles govs SEPTEMBER 15, 2014 BY GODWIN ISENYO, KADUNA 6 Comments The North on Monday in Kaduna State rejected the allocation of additional polling units by the Independent National Electoral Commission, noting that the exercise was skewed to favour the Southern part of the country. This was the outcome of an emergency meeting between the umbrella body of the north, Arewa Consultative Forum, and all non-governmental organisations in the region on Sunday at the ACF’s Secretariat in Kaduna. In a communique signed by the ACF’s Secretary-General, Col. John Ubah, retd, and the Secretary-General of the Code Group, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the northern groups were, however, silent on whether the INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, should resign over the creation of additional polling units as demanded by the South-South leaders, led by former Vice President Alex Ekwueme and others. They were also disturbed by the insecurity in the North occasioned by the activities of the Boko Haram insurgents that had over the years crippled socio-economic activities in some parts of the region. ACF and the groups blamed the President Goodluck Jonathan-led administration for doing nothing to arrest the situation. Consequently, the North under the aegis of the Arewa Consultative Forum said it had resolved to summon its past leaders like former Head of State, Gen Yakubu Gowon; a former President, Alhaji Shehu Shagari; and former Heads of State -Maj Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), Gen Ibrahim Babangida and General Abdulsalam Abubakar. It said it planned to let them realise that they had not done enough to influence the government on the security and economic well-being of the people of the North. In addition, the coalition said it resolved to “request the President of the Senate and Speaker of the House of Representatives and all legislators from the North to note that northerners expect them to exercise greater commitment towards ensuring that President Goodluck Jonathan’s government is made more accountable to northerners and the citizens of Nigeria in the manner it handles national security and the management of resources of the nation.” It said it would “remind northern governors that citizens are disappointed with their seeming neglect of the security and welfare of the people of the North. In the next few weeks, activities of joint committees will approach governors and involve them in mobilising citizens towards supporting all measures to improve security in the North, and will inform northerners of responses of all our elected leaders.” www.punchng.com/news/north-rejects-inecs-additional-polling-units-tackles-govs/ |

I tamed the leopard of Port Harcourt – Mbu SEPTEMBER 15, 2014 BY ADELANI ADEPEGBA ABUJA 19 Comments Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Joseph Mbu, has described himself as a lion, who tamed the ‘leopard of Port Harcourt’. Mbu, who was apparently referring to his clashes with Governor Rotimi Amaechi of River State, when he was the Commissioner of Police in charge of the state, stated that it was only a lion that could tame a leopard. Mbu, who was recently promoted AIG said this while handing over to the new FCT Commissioner of Police, Wilson Inalegwu, on Monday in Abuja. He advised his successor to be firm in his dealings with policemen in his command and avoid soiling himself. “I advise you (CP) to carry the senior officers along in your administration. It is only a lion that can tame a leopard. I tamed the leopard in Port Harcourt, each time he remembers my face, he would remember how I tamed him,” Mbu said, drawing loud laughter from the audience. He advised Inalegwu to discourage policemen from going for special duties, noting that the obligation of Policemen was to the general public and not to provide protection for only VIPs. He also urged the new CP not to deal with his personnel with sentiments, stressing that he would fail if he gives unnecessary concessions to the officers and men working with him. He stated that the Force needs strong leadership to achieve results, adding that he had put the command on a solid pedestal, noting that under him, the command procured 5,000 special raincoats with assistance from the FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed. According to him, he was able to save N10m from ‘FCT logistics’ and bought two buses to transport the rank and file to their duty posts. Mbu who is now in charge of Zone 7, Abuja, explained that there was no petition against him throughout his tenure as CP in charge of FCT, because he dealt with the men fairly. The AIG said, “I have sworn allegiance to Nigeria and to this Police uniform, that anyone who stops me from doing my job, I crush him. The Police at the command needs strong leadership, the moment you started asking your men to bring building materials you have soiled yourself and they will no longer respect you.” Inalegwu in his response, promised to build on the foundation laid by his predecessor and challenged the officers to relate more with the community. www.punchng.com/news/i-tamed-the-leopard-of-port-harcourt-mbu/ 1 Like |

Politics / Ex Senate President Ebute Replies Obj's Letter. by babyhrt(m): 11:22pm On Dec 21, 2013 |
Jonathan replies Obasanjo through proxy on december 21, 2013 at 9:58 pm in news *Ex-Senate President accuses him of inciting mob action Soni Daniel, Abuja In what appears as an indirect response by President Goodluck Jonathan to the letter written him by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, a pro-Jonathan politician, Senator Ameh Ebute, yesterday, blasted Obasanjo for daring to castigate Jonathan for the nation’s woes. The former senator accused Obasanjo of instituting unprecedented corruption in Nigeria and trying desperately to illegally extend his tenure for selfish reasons, thereby lacking the credibility to accuse Jonathan of any wrongdoing. Ebute, a one-time Senate President of Nigeria, responded in an 18-pages letter to the letter fired by Obasanjo to Jonathan, in which he accused the president of failing the nation in several ways and committing blunders that threaten to destroy the country. The politician, who did not say whether he was authorised by the Jonathan or not, however, wrote as if he was a spokesman for the Presidency, blaming Obasanjo for the current problems in Nigeria, which Jonathan was battling to resolve. Ebute noted, “As an obsessed letter writer, Chief Obasanjo may unwittingly view his tirades against sitting governments as building a legacy to be celebrated when he departs; he does not see the effects of debasement, deformation, destruction, disunity, hatred and defamation in his actions. “Selfless leaders with character build peace, build harmony, build unity and build love. However, it appears our erstwhile President has lost it all. Like what Billy Graham said, “When character is lost, all is lost”. He said that Obasanjo had no moral grounds to accuse Jonathan of destroying the People’s Democratic Party, having himself been responsible for the crisis currently rocking the party. According to the politician, it was Obasanjo, who planted the seed of discord that is threatening the party and not Jonathan. “It is ridiculous that Chief Obasanjo, a self-acclaimed democrat, should accuse President Goodluck Jonathan as the one responsible for the lingering crisis in PDP, which pre-dated his emergence as the leader of the party”, Ebute said. ” President Jonathan’s alleged crime is his refusal to publicly denounce those craving his return in 2015. Chief Obasanjo further accused President Jonathan of clandestinely dictating the actions of the party Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur. These unsubstantiated claims posit a curious but intriguing parallel and calls for self-examination on the part of the Owu Chief. “When in 2002, before INEC officially signaled political activities for the 2003 elections, posters and propaganda materials adorned all nooks and crannies of Nigeria for Chief Obasanjo’s re-election, how many of such people did he publicly denounce? ” Even when it became open knowledge in 2005 that Chief Obasanjo surreptitiously attempted to use his cronies to insert in the output of the National Political Reform Conference a clause to elongate his tenure for a third term, since he thought it was only he who had the single inalienable right to rule Nigeria for life, did hereunder any public denial? “Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has no moral credentials to accuse President Jonathan of responsibility for the travails of the PDP. These crises, as earlier noted, predate the incumbent leader of the party.” Read the Ex-Senate President’s letter Fac |
