Career / Re: What Are The Career Option For Biochemistry Graduate by badaoyeyemi(f): 9:06am On Oct 16, 2016
Obi411:
I studied Biochemistry, I finished in 2013; before I graduated I knew the obtainable -- that the course has limited application in our Nigerian Society. I mean, it does not resonate with the contemporary Nigerian societal needs.
Quickly, I told myself I would switch career. By God's grace I would be finishing my entry-level training with a bank this week. The second best graduating student in my class back then in school is currently working with KPMG. Same goes to others, one I know is in Zenith Bank.

I still remember how I was advised to go back to school to study medicine, considering I was young; waste. I have learnt that experience is far better than degrees. The truth is, in Nigeria, no matter the degree just get a good grade and apply to good companies. Many years of schooling has little impact on your employability, even when you have a foreign degree, too; in fact it might be a disadvantage now that employers are seeking graduates below 26 years of age (Companies like Access Bank even have theirs as 24 years).

It's not about Biochemistry, it's about the needs of the society. And Biochemistry is even a course that sharpens a good student's analytical skills beyond average -- that which employers seek in prospective employers. So, dear biochemists, you have everything. Only wait till God perfects everything.
good point... But wait till when

swthrt bera dooo oooooo if you want a satisfying job in this country, even my roomie in 200l back then in the hostel did not even go for service after graduation, he stayed back, apply DE got med and now he is better than 90% of his mates that went for service and did msc at the same time, cos they all wasted 3yrs.
