alakid: As a muslim from the north and hated Hausa/Fulani extraction, I am totally behind Senator Mark on the need to end modern day slavery in the name of Almajiri system of education. It is outdated and has much more disadvantages to its few if any advantages.
That said, I would want to see a comprehensive rehabilitation and reintegration plan for the almajiris, then back it up with strong lelation to adquately punish offenders(ie parents and owners of these schools)

Nigerians do not realize that this is potentially another BH matter! Powerful elements in Nigeria are rallying behind the Fulanis and that is giving them the guts to continue to graze around, even on other people's farms. Why make money destroying other people's means of livelihood? There must be a solution.

This group would not have been if farmlands were not grazed. I dont want to take sides but there should be a solution for this grazing. The Fulanis need to buy land and keep ranches, or FG should buy for them. I also will not accept if I am a farmer and all my crop is destroyed by travelling nomads. Not in 2013, please!

The problem is over dependence on resources of other regions in far-away places,rather than developing your own resources in agricultural production.

If northern leaders concentrate today on agriculture,they will produce enough food to feed the entire African continent and make the north the richest place in Nigeria again. But,it is easier to fight for oil dichotomy and deceive their people that the more oil money they can corner via unscrupulous means,the better for the region. Very very unfortunate mindset.[/b]
