A few days after the center of a bridge leading to Ogboko, the village of out-going Governor Rochas Okorocha collapsed, another part of the same road has almost been cut off after heavy rainfall in the area.
This time the disaster is worse than the first as the gutters constructed to keep flooding away from the road collapsed with a substantial portion of the road.

Residents of Ideato South and North local government areas Imo State are about to be cut off from the rest of the state. Rochas Okorocha is from Ogboko, in Ideato South local government area of the state.
The situation is pathetic as erosion is about to cut off Rochas Okorocha from the rest of Imo State as he hands over to retire to his Ogboko village home.

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has declared his assets for the end of his first tenure and the beginning of his new tenure respectively.

The Code of Conduct Bureau in Kano State made this known in a statement by its Director, Umar Saulawa, on Tuesday.

Saulawa, however, reminded all outgoing elected and appointed political office holders to declare their assets in line with the provision of the law or face the wrath of the law, (NAN) reports.


According to him, the Bureau would not hesitate to take all the necessary actions against any Public Officer, who violated the order.

Saulawa said that the governor’s declaration of his assets was in accordance with the provision of the law as enshrined in the 1999 constitution as amended.

“This is to inform the general public that the Executive Governor of Kano state, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, ahead of his inauguration on May 29, 2019, declared his assets.

“The declaration is for the end of his first tenure in office and the beginning of his new tenure for the second term respectively,” he said

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ilorin Zonal Office on May 28, 2019 arraigned two suspected Internet fraudsters at a Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin.

The suspects, Johnson Okuselu and Akande Saheed, were arraigned on two separate charges before Justice Sikiru Oyinloye.

One of the charges reads: “That you, Johnson Opeyemi Okuselu (a.k.a Blessed Saviour) sometime in April 2019, or thereabout at Ilorin, Kwara State within the jurisdiction of this honourable court attempted to commit an offence by pretending to be one Blessed Saviour, representing yourself to be a white Woman who is capable of providing job in the United States of America to one Omni Guzman as contained in your email conversation done through your Gmail account, contrary to Section 95 and 321 of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 322 of the same law.”

They both pleaded “guilty” to the charges.

Counsel for the EFCC, A.A. Adebayo, told the Court that the defendants had entered into a plea bargain agreement with the Commission.

He, thus, asked the court to give a date for the prosecution to call its star witness in order to review the facts of the case.

Justice Oyinloye, thereafter, adjourned the case to June 8, 2019 for reviewing of facts, and ordered that the defendants be remanded in EFCC custody.

The average price of smartphones continues on a downward trajectory, as it dipped to US$ 95 in 2018, from US$ 117 in 2016, and US$ 216 in 2014, the latest report by Nigeria Mobile Report by Jumia has shown.

A former Washington D.C. police officer, who is of Nigerian descent, has been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison for sex trafficking, Igbere Tv reports.


According to multiple reports gathered by Igbere Tv, 29-year-old Chukwuemeka Ekwonna pleaded guilty to paying two teenage girls for sex while he was employed as a police officer in Washington, D.C.


U.S. Attorney Robert Hur's office said Ekwonna exchanged more than 250 text messages and social media messages with two girls, ages 14 and 15, and paid both for sex. Ekwonna was charged in April 2017 with soliciting sex from a 15-year-old girl in Glen Burnie and then robbing her at gunpoint.


A statement from the U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland stated: "Specifically, between October 2016 and February 2017, Ekwonna, who was an officer with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) in Washington, D.C. at the time, engaged in sexual conduct with two girls, who were 14 and 15 years old, in exchange for money. Both victims were students in the ninth grade at the time of the offenses."


It added: "Between December 19, 2016, and April 5, 2017, Ekwonna exchanged approximately 200 messages, both text and through the social media dating platform, with a 14-year-old girl (“Girl 1”)."


The Department of Justice release said: "On several occasions, Ekwonna offered to pay Girl 1 to engage in sex acts with him. Ekwonna met with Girl 1 and engaged in sex acts with her on at least five occasions, between October 18, 2016, and February 15, 2017.


Ekwonna engaged in illegal sex with the underage girl in different locations in the Annapolis area, including in motel rooms and Ekwonna’s vehicle. Ekwonna typically paid Girl 1 between $30 and $40 to have sex with him.


Messages between Ekwonna and the 14-year-old girl suggest that she was aware that Ekwonna was a police officer.


It added: "On January 9, 2017, Ekwonna exchanged approximately 54 messages through the dating platform with a second underage girl, who was 15 years old at the time (“Girl 2”).


The release also said: "In these messages, Ekwonna offered to pay the 15-year-old girl to engage in sex acts with him. Ekwonna met Girl 2 in Glen Burnie, where he gave her $80 and engaged in sex acts with her in the back of his car.


Igbere Tv understands that the Girl 2’s testimony at the sentencing hearing, after they had sex, Ekwonna locked her in the car, pointed a black handgun at her and demanded she return the money he had paid her. As part of his sentence, Ekwonna was ordered to pay $80 in restitution to the victim. His car and his black police-issued handgun were ordered forfeited to the government."


A federal judge Tuesday sentenced 29-year-old Chukwuemeka Ekwonna to 14 years in federal prison and also to five years of supervised release after his prison term, Igbere Tv reports.

The Federal Government (FG) is yet enmeshed in another scandal as it was gathered that they failed to pay the whistle-blower who exposed the secret $223m NNPC account. It was gathered that the whistle-blower whose name was withheld had approached the AGF, Abubakar Malami (SAN), in June 2018 and informed him of an account named, ‘NNPC Brass LNG INV. Fund’ with number 1750027157 domiciled in Skye Bank (now Polaris Bank). Punch reported that bank documents showed that the account was opened with the sum of $328, 998, 818.24 on May 31, 2014, at the Asokoro branch of the bank, and they've failed to remit the money to the Central Bank of Nigeria in contravention of the Treasury Single Account policy of the Federal Government.

The whistle-blower who was referred to the Special Investigation Panel who he briefed of his findings, subsequently accompanied officials of the panel to the bank where top officials were arrested and made statements. It was agreed that the money will be transferred by installments, as it will affect the bank negatively. The whistle-blower signed a bond along with the AGF which was witnessed by Ladidi Mohammed, the Head, Asset Recovery and Management Unit at the AGF’s office after he played his part.  However even after $30m was transferred from the said account to the CBN in three tranches on March 1, 2019, March 6, 2019 and April 25, the FG has failed to pay the whistle-blower who exposed the secret $223m NNPC account his commission, 11 months after the agreement was signed. 

In a letter signed by the whistle-blower’s lawyer, Aliyu Lemu, which was addressed to the AGF, the whistle-blower who lamented the failure of the government to honour the agreement, threatened to sue the Federal Government if he was not paid his commission within seven days.
