Family / Re: How Was Your First Year Of Marriage? by BahPulo(f): 4:17pm On Apr 25, 2012
nice thread Well my first year was nice no problems at all and still after nine years we have not had a major fight. He is just peaceful like that. We got married early I was 19 and he was 23, both of us in school so we were like boyfriend and girlfriend in a way. We lived in a school dorm, we did not cook, clean or anything that married people usually do. But when my in laws visited they said we have to stop living liking student and start thinking like adult since I was expecting our first child. so we moved out of campus dorms rented an apartment and our married life begin. we don't have family here and neither do we have friends that we hang out with often so it's only the two of us and our 2 beautiful boys. I think because of this closeness our marriage was able to survive the first year's troubles and it's still going strong.

Islam for Muslims / Re: Marriage: Hijabi Or Non-hijab by BahPulo(f): 2:43pm On Apr 25, 2012
Interesting topic. the issue of the hijab seems to come up all the time. I only wear the hijab when I am praying. I know if I were to wear my husband will be the happiest man in earth. I know he wants me to do it but I am not ready yet and like me he understands it has to come from me not him. after all when I wear my hijab I want to do it because of Allah subhana wa tallah only. Also one more thing that really worries me is corporate america, I am in the actuary field which is dominated by white male you rarely see women and minorites in this industry. I have to make sur I change field or go to a company that is open minded the ones I see around my city i don't think will accept it.

Politics / Re: Northern Nigeria Has Highest Child Illiteracy Rate In The World by BahPulo(f): 2:12pm On Apr 25, 2012
ekt_bear: Yeah it seems plausible. The other other Hausa country next to them (Niger) is desperately impoverished and illiterate. The one with Kanuris (Chad) is also desperately impoverish and illiterate.

Perhaps it is just something intrinsic to Hausa/Fulani culture...

Maybe it is their destiny to be illiterate and poor

You know I was going to read the article and move on since the issue being discussed here is North Nigeria which I must say I know nothing about. however this your post caught my eyes. I don't know anything about the Haussas so I won't comment on them but the fulanis I know. I am one of them and your last sentence that we are destined to be illiterate and poor is the biggest lie you have ever told my dear. If you don't know ask and you will be told but going around making outrageous comment is just ignorant. I was born in Senegal and my parents are from Guinea, these two countries have the highest concentration of fulanis. Not only are the fulanis in these 2 countries educated but also they are business savy, hard working, and well respected among their countrymen. Do we have issues? sur just like any other group in most of subsahara Africa. but are we what you say we are? no we are not.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Frankofone African Countries Must Drop France If Africa Is To Move Forward by BahPulo(f): 3:24pm On Apr 05, 2012
I believe so too. The francophone countries need not only to drop france, french they also need to drop the cfa. I don't like france and I can't stand their attitude we know better than anyone. But you know that won't happen any time soon because we are lazy people it hurts to say it but it's the truth. We need to sit our a$$$ down and think for ourself. for example how can we create a common currency that work for us not france, or how we can implement policies that facilitate trades btw us not btw france, china or any other outsider. any way I am so tired of thinking what's wrong with Africa in whole i's just plain annoying

Islam for Muslims / Re: How Do A Muslim Leave Life In Islamic Ways And Enjoy Life In Nigeria by BahPulo(f): 4:16pm On Apr 02, 2012
Well personally i think where one lives does not or should not dictate the way one lives his/her life. Your dedications and choices are what matter. Having live in west for the past ten years I can tell you I have seen more devout muslims than I did when I was in Senegal(which is 90% or more muslims). Alcohol, sex, drug, stealing, smoking ......... are choices one makes.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Marieme Sall, Senegal's First Black First Lady by BahPulo(f): 5:01pm On Mar 28, 2012
I wonder if this an old picture I don't like what she is wearing look too outdated I know senegal has better style than that. I am not surprise though Macky being toucouleur chances of him marrying outside of his tribe are very low. Marieme, I think is half toucouleur and wolof. I know for sur her mom is halpoulard don't about her dad.

Welcome BahPulo, I said it before that Newbies don't have to add their name. You can learn a lot about Nigerians here for sure but you might also want to read other not-so-opinionated material about Nigerians too. Don't bother your head too much about it, you will learn soon enough.

deols:

You are welcome sis. You dont have to provide any private information if you do not want to. There is no obligation on you here. I have a feeling there's a lot to learn from you too. Do share please smiley

THank you guys I am really looking foward to learning more about the sections. Lol Deols and what makes you feel like that? But you right I do have something to share and I will whenever asked. also guys do you have some basic islamic lessons threads that newbies who are not so fluent in douwah and sounah can read.

Nayah:

Really hope because Sall has a big weight on him

Lol Nayah you right just I hope he doesn't turn arrogant in just 2 months or so, you know a la africaine. But I think if he engages in small projects like getting the standard of living cheaper (Dakar is so expensive that people now cook thiepoudien once a year a red snapper will cost you 30000fcfa~$55.00 that's lmore than NYC where you can get a midium size RS for $30 ), putting youth back to work, and fixing the education he will be fine. By the way you seem to know a lot about senegalese politics did you live there or are you a sciences politic major?
Foreign Affairs / Re: Senegal Elections: Macky Sall Leads Over Incombent Abdoulaye WADE by BahPulo(f): 3:30pm On Mar 28, 2012
Nayah:

It could be an issue sister because the real Macky Sall voting is about 23% THE OTHERS were against WADE representation NOT for SALL so, he will have to count with them or else... remember WADE in 2000 but as you said time will tell

I really don't see it becoming an issue unless Sall turns stupid and repeats the same mistakes Wade did in the past 12 years. I do remember Wade very well I might have been just a high school girl then but I do remember because I went to his rallies and convince my mother a die hard Diouf supporter to vote for Wade. Up until 2003 wade was still popular among senegaleses but he decided that his son mattered more than all those who help deliver the presidency to him even Niass whose endorsement helped close the deal. If there is one thing I could not get pass was how Wade in a way made things worst for the average senegalese. before 2000 lack of electricity for more than 4 hours a day was unheard of, same with the rise inprices of certain products such as bread, cooking gas, milk and many others. Besides the infra Wade did nothing for us like they say he likes being seen and the roads and the renaissance statut will do just that. If Sall is half as smart as I supect he is he will concentrate on small projects that will have more impacts on the people. But again we will see my hopes are just there not high nor low just hope...........

@Araboy merci beaucoup....

@Nayah Macky serving in the cabinet of Wade is not the issue here because the same argument can be made about Wade since he held some ministry post in Diouf presidency. Macky was the only opposition who ran a worthy campaign you can't win something you did not work for. He has issues i won't sit here and argue other wise but the guy advertised himself as an alternative to Wade and the Senegaleses people bought it. I myself am a Niass supporter but he did not sell himself the right way and in the second tour it's clear who btw Wade and Sall I will choose and I did just that. Beside the reason Macky left his post is because he dear to ask Karim to explain where the money meant for the Islamic conf went. Anyway we will see if Macky is who he says he is or le petit apprenti de Wade. time will tell........
Foreign Affairs / Re: President Abdoulaye Wade Concedes Defeat In Senegalese Poll. by BahPulo(f): 8:04pm On Mar 26, 2012
ochukoccna: @ gbogboti and strangest, I doubt the coup in Mali played a part seeing both countries are different case scenarios.
Also know that Senegal is only West African country yet to see a coup.
In how many African countries does the incumbent call up his challenger before the results are officially announced to concede defeat ?
We this mainly in the Occidental world.
Old man wade has his faults but lets cut him some slack and applaud him on this.
It shows Senegal is not a basket case democracy like 'giant of Africa[ undecided undecided undecided undecided]' Nigeria. wink

You right He has to be applauded but that's how he got in power when Diouf lost in 2000 he handed it to Wade without a fight so Wade has no choice but to do the same. One more thing the people of senegal are the ones to be commanded here for they didn't let politicians manipulate them for political gains. I know some high supporters of Wade were saying that the only reason Macky is winning is because the halpoulards were rallying behind him well now it's clear that Sall won because majority of senegaleses said so.
Foreign Affairs / Re: Senegal Elections: Macky Sall Leads Over Incombent Abdoulaye WADE by BahPulo(f): 7:42pm On Mar 26, 2012
I am so proud of my fellow senegaleses for coming out and sending a loud and clear message to all politicians
that if you mess with us we will deal with you not by violence but by our votes. As for Gorgui, Wade I am glad that you finally woke up from
your slumber. Macky c'est a toi maintenant better do a good job for we are watching you and we will not let you or any other politician take us for granted anymore. By the way Iam new here like the foreign affairs section a lot though a lot of fighting......
