It is in that horrific sense that APC underdeveloped Nigeria and ruined the country.

By the 'silence' of the Customs Act on appointment of the CG, he is allowed to do what he is done but by procedural administrative law, he ought to have appointed one from a rank not lower than DCG ie within the system.

It is also odd that the current CG is happy to receive all emoluments and allowances from a paramilitary agency but refuses to abide by the rules of appearance because he suddenly remembers he's a retired Army officer. It's got to be all or nothing, there cannot be 2 rules otherwise there'd be chaos.
Bros there is something called "expressio unis est exclusio alterius". I think it applies to the case at hand because since the Customs Management Act speaks, general Adminstration Law cannot cover the field.
Thank you for agreeing it is Lawful and for your insight on administrative law perspective. That fiels is general for public I think.

*WHO WILL FEED US?*

The bitter truth is the average agriculture student has a little case of inferiority complex, most likely due to the general perception that Agriculture is equal to farming and of course when you think of farming the first image that might come to your head is that of the poor old man with a muddy hoe hung on his shoulder in the last Nollywood movie you watched, "'LIKE SERIOUSLY' why waste 5 years of my life on that?".

So our Soil scientists, Seed technologists, Extension agents ,Animal physiologists and Agric Administrators all want to work in the bank or figure something else out later, *Who then will feed Nigeria?*
#SMK

lalasticlala
The persistence of the hoe holder. The persistence and professionalism of the students and graduate of Agric. The investment of entrepreneurs and the ability of citizens to demand for good governance that will ensure that the infrastructure is there for optimal harvest.
Eluwilussit should stop looking down at those in the Agric sector. Olayinkanmi and others in the agric produce sector should provide financing, since the bank are unwilling to lend.
Yes with Agriculture degree you can work anywhere, so also with law, medicine, engineering and theatre arts.
Even Lalasticlala read something like Agriculture.

Every president is the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of his country. Every president is directly in charge of the armed forces of his country but not the police, customs, immigration and other paramilitary agencies. These agencies have more autonomy from the president. They are also led by people already in the system and not outsiders.

The appointment of Ali is more of a political move than an anti-corruption move. The same thing too with whoever is in charge of NIMASA. These are professional organizations for God's sake. The Customs is more than just revenue generation.

If the presidency was so concerned about stopping corruption in the Customs, then they could have installed Ali as the head of whichever organization oversees the Customs, just as we have the Police Service Commission overseeing the police.

But bringing a non-Customs officer as the head of the Customs has been taken too far.

Would the same government appoint a non-military person to head any of the three arms of the military because they are corrupt?

The answer is no.

The Customs should not be under the supervision of an army officer.
.

You have a point there. Can you please direct me to the Law that stipulates that the CG of Customs must be in the service and that the President has no discretion on who to appoint. I am not joking nor nairalanding.
Politics › Re: Court Grants Shamsudeen Mohammed Bail For N100m by bakila:
Our problem is more than thieving idiots like Dasuki and the foolish and the criminal Bala that gave birth to him. A lor of chaps do not understand the essence of bail, you are not allowed to go, but you are released on the agreement that you will always come to court to stand your trial. If this accused does not turn up, he will forfeit the N100m and will be detained when his bail is revoked.

Dimgba seems to be a lenient Judge. His style includes bail to Dasuki and people like this. He has ruled according to his style and it is in line with the law.

A good move. How can a non-Customs officer head the Customs. It is an insult. Can a non-military officer head the Army? Even a non-combatant army officer cannot even head the army not to talk of a non-Army officer. We need to use our senses when making appointments and learn to respect the constitution.

They could have stayed and educated him on the importance of instituting the board and pointing out all his errors, then give him ultimatum to do the needful and report back later. Tell him it's disrespectful to appear before them in mufti, and that next time he should avoid that.
The arms of government are supposed to harmonize for the good of the country not to be acting childishly.
Which Board nah. The Board is statutorily constituted with officials of various government departments. The moment one becomes Minister of Finance, he automatically chairs that board, Hammed Ali is deputy chairman of the board.
