Exactly what I imagine, but at a very huge cost.

It will take some time given that the biggest power houses in the region, UAE/Saudi Arabia, Qatar, are close allies of the US. Iran as well seems to be warming up to the US given the Nuclear Deal recently signed by both parties.

I think the member states of the region might consider Russia a more helpful ally especially with respect to dealing with the ever growing trend of radical Islamic terrorism in the region. US has a terrible reputation for training and arming radical groups and rebels all in a bid to upstage governments that refuse to be their puppets and that has created the mess we see in the region.

Still waiting to see the Chinese make their move.

Time will tell.
