World's largest freshwater reserve and an unimaginable potential of hydropower generation. Heck, there are some minerals and natural resources only found in Russia!

And yet, they can't lay claim to any breakthrough in science that's not military related in recent years.

Instead of fighting poverty at home, they're getting into a war they can ill afford. I really pity them.
