I'm not an expert in prosody but I must commend your intertwine of alliteration and assonance. SAD SMILES The smile of the weary labourer Whose toil is not feeding him The smile of the white-collared worker Whose pay does not take him home The smile of the limping old soldier Battle wearied his body writhes in hunger The smile of the man of yore His dream of heydays now but folklore The smiles of the child-beggar Nurtured by neither father nor mother The smiles etched to tired faces Those of the homeless and wanderer The smiles of the forgotten races Cut off from civilization and its aura The smiles of the stricken populaces Ailing from her very own leader The smile of the schooled job-hunting man Standing with shivers in the rain Zoom zoom goes the pot-bellied politician Exotic fleet following in his train Splash splash the squalid taint lashes on Through the glass he sees them grin His smiles all soggy and his gaze forlorn He wonders when the sun will shine on him Smiles mangled by many cheerless tears Smiles battered by several spasmodic throes The fruit of man’s unkindness to man Smiles that plaster our shredded doleful yarn Smiles that veneer my people’s reality Smiles from hearts where joy is rarity Smiles yes smiles but pain there lies My people smile sad smiles ABOUT ME: I love poetry but I don't like to call myself a poet. On the wake of a much maligned performance from the super eagles, which saw them dedeated by Congo brazaville for the first in over 20years, the Uche brothers have been given a late minute call-up by the Nigeria head coach ahead of Wednesday's Africa Nations Cup qualifier against South Africa. Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has recalled the duo of Ikechukwu and Kalu Uche to replace Uche Nwofor and David Obiazor for Wednesday's African Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa. However it is yet to be seen whether the duo will put aside their grieviances and honour the call. Is Keshi finally listening to the voice of the people and do you think Nigeria will overcome south africa? |

Bobbystanley: Is this Keshi still there as Headcoach?Just for the records, Ike Uche did indeed score 14 goals last seen but that did not place just behind Cr7, Messi and Costa. He infact ranked in the 13th position behind the likes of A. Sanchez, Benzema, Griezman, Bale, Pedro, Carlos Vela, Aduritz etc. while I agree that Ike Uche is a fine player, I do not see why he should be begged and romanced to be in the national team, whether or not he was snubbed in the past. Eric Lamela, Juan Mata, Philipe Coutinho are a few examples of fantastic players who were sometimes snubbed by their national teams but still make themselves available anytime there are needed. I think humility and patriotism should overide personal interest. Just my views anyway... 1 Like |

the Nigerian under 20 female team just defeated Korea DPR 6-2, in a match which saw Nigerian female sensation Asisat Oshoala grabbing four wonderful goals with sunday Uchechi and Courtney Dike also getting one apiece. The victory takes the super falconets into final of the competition where they will face the winner of the second semi-final game between France and Germany in a game that will be played by 1:45am (Nigerian time) tommorrow. I hope the girls bring the trophy home, their performance deserve that. |

The fact that there's only one state university in the top twenty and that private universities (Covenant and Landmark) are ranking higher than even some federal universities...does it mean our state universities are not keeping up at all and private universities are beginning to set a positive trend -perhaps justifying the exhorbitant tuition being charged? |

Pay ur acceptance fee @ UI microfinance bank. 3. Wait for a confirmation on ur fone like after 2hrs. 4. Go to 'newly admitted students should upload credentials' 5. Upload all original documents. 6. Wait for anoda 3-4days depending. U'll receive a notification dat ur admission letter is ready. 7. Print d admission letter and acceptance form, fill d acceptance form n make several copies of d admission letter and few copies of d accepatance form. 8. Go back 2 pg scool wit adm letter n acceptance form (4copies of adm leta n 2 copies of accepatnce) btw 9am-11:30am. 9. Go 2 D2 office and buy 3 copies of the clearance form for N100. 10. As u get 2 pg skuk, enter d office n submit a copy of the accepatnace form n adm letter. 11. Wait for ur name 2 b calledfor clearnace (during dis process, pg staff is verifying ur credentials uploaded on d website). 12. Once ur name is called, submit all original copies to dem wit 4copies of adm leta, 2 copies of accept leta n 3 copies of clearance form. 13. Meanwhile, also generate n activate ur personal unique no. Foolow d instructns dere. I paid my tuitn fee in wema, unilag branch. 16. Mk sure u receive a mail frm pg skul dat ur card has bin used to pay ur fees. 17. Go bk 2 d registratn portal, fill ur course form n dem send a request for accommodatn if u want. 18. Wait for a couple of days for MIS to send ur matric no and hall allocatn. 19. Lock up ur course reg form, print out n submit @ sg skul for signing. |
