haymekus: Greizmann was bought to score goals and contribute immensely in our attacking department, if he chooses to go back and defend, that’s not bad, but it’s not his primary role
Alba has been one of our most creative players aside Messi, but his lb position at barce leaks like a basket, does that mean we should keep praising him while his position is porous?
Every player was bought for a reason, if he fails to carry out his main objective, he should be shown the door. Simple You really believe a 100m World Cup winning, Europa League winning attacker, will choose to go and be defending? Are you bantering or what? I really don't understand o. If not until he became compelled, Dembele that hadn't won anything doesn't track back. It's a 29 year old senior player that will willingly choose to be running back to go and defend. Ahn ahn, bros. tesppidd: Here below is a good example of why you cannot just wake up one morning and be shouting; this one go, that one go. Busquets go, Pique go, Alba go, Suarez go, Vidal go, Rakitic go, Roberto go, Messi go.
You can't spend money and wipe out the entire squad and then expect them to immediately hit the ground running and coman win champions league for you.
The truth remains that it is practically impossible for all the oldies to go this summer.. Before you realise it you'd be battling for Europa league spots.
*I see Pique, Alba and Roberto staying.
*I see Suarez, Rakitic, Busquets and Vidal leaving.
If we achieve this, it would be a very good first step towards the rebuilding process.
All those here fantasizing and expecting a total clear out of 9 of the oldies is on a long thing. I don't see Suarez leaving sha....i'm not so sure. And I'm pretty sure Busi ain't quitting either |

Adiwana: Teams score goals because they want to score goals not cause of any player. Bayern knew we were at our lowest point and them at the highest point, Messi or no Messi. Taking full advantage of that also meant sending a message to the rest of the teams in the competition. Ronaldo playing won't have made no difference because Ronaldo has also been in the same field his team conceded 5 goals and could easily have conceded more. Its just how the game works.
It's ridiculous saying a team outscored the other team because they wanted to make their star player cry. If it's for bragging rights like El clasico,I could understand. It's more absurd saying that the other decided to score more goals because of the other teams players Teams and players score to send a message. A 3 - 1 win is respectable. They know, we know. But respect was never the intention. Disgrace was the intention. Go back and look at all heavy wins between heavyweight. A message was always being sent. Both 2 - 0 and 10 - 0 does the same work. But then, one is a win, the other is a disgrace. There was a reason the players were laughing there and then on the pitch, and bragging thereafter. The game wasn't about mere qualification. Stop acting like its not obvious. They intended to send a message, to make someone cry, and that they did. I'm done with this discussion, sir |

So Madrid won't have have conceded 5 at Camp Nou if Ronaldo was not there?? Lol,bro wtf Yes, presence of players motivate opposition to score more or less. It's psychology... On one end, you have a Neuer vs MATS fight, on the other hand, you have a Barça vs Bayern fight. They have a team, we have Messi. Look at the group stages ; do you have any credible evidence that we would have qualified from that group stage without Messi? and then coman even play Napoli sef Yes, I personally stated it on this thread that only Messi could ride us past Bayern. But that begs the question, how long are we going to keep relying on him to sort us out? What happens in matches that he's human and can't do anything, who would step up? Our over reliance on Messi is more harm than good. Yes, it's exhilarating watching Messi ride us past opposition, we'd forever keep relishing it... My problem is, why are we holding on to him like he won't ever leave us? Why? We haven't even started planning for life after Messi. We don't even want to have a discussion about it, because it's an insult to Messi. Shey Messi no go leave again? |

FirstbornWds: Brother, PasstoMessi will continue but what we need is a team that needs to understand when to shoot, pass to a better-placed player, or even knock out defenses without bothering Messi too long. If Koeman can, I'll prefer the subjects Messi, to a particular position (If he's playing the full striking position, let him stay there. If he's playing Right-wing, let him maintain there). The other teammates need to start stepping up.
Then again, Messi should start playing fewer matches. With that, other teams will concentrate on the other threats in our team than Messi. Much emphasis wouldn't be placed on him and even if it is, we'll have other players exploiting the space... Of course, we know the kind of trouble Messi brings when he can smell as much as a small space.
But asking him to leave now, under whose tutelage will those other young players grow? Nobody knows more about Barcelona and style than Messi, I feel the knowledge hasn't been impacted fully yet.
Baba still has a lot to offer. Isn't that what I was saying? Wasn't that why I said Xavi and Iniesta already had a secondary role at his age. And that he should be given such too? What did I get, Messi is not Xavi and Iniesta, Messi still has 3 more years left in him. Torrh, I kukuma shut up |

Adiwana: Nah. I agree that the whole passtoMessi was partially what brought about our current predicament but Barca has faired fairly fine in matches he was absent. We forget Neymar stepping up and the demolition of Madrid at Santiago was done without Messi,Suarez has stepped up in games Messi has missed including his hattrick against Madrid last season,Coutinho stepping up etc. The problem for the larger part of it goes to those who has seen Suarez playing absolutely rubbish whenever Messi is around and still keeps him in the team including playing him in Champions league games he went seasons without scoring. Those like Valverde who did a great job in stabilizing the team when Neymar left but decided that we will play the whole passtoMessi. Those who had seen where we were going but decided for some reason to still keep that same Valverde in his job. Messi may be part of the problem but he is not the problem I never said Messi was the problem though. Our dependence on him is |

FirstbornWds: Uncle, there's a whole difference between a guy who has the capacity to replicate every single act I the pitch from people whose capacity is delegated to a particular play. Not downplaying their prowess, but it'll be extremely off to say because Xavi and Iniesta left/allowed to go or were already being sidelined at 33, then you'd want the same to be done for Messi. My brother, these two left Barcelona at the care of a worthy talisman that had the capacity to change games in our favor.
Messi abandoning at this point will not only leave us in shambles, but it also will completely take off the entire respect (if there's any left) any team has for us.
We need a total revamp, but not at the expense of Messi. Nah, that's too extreme. I agree, you have a point. But when they were in the team, we weren't doing passtomessi. Passtomessi is what brought us to this stage, a stage where we now dread Messi leaving, like he won't ever leave. I say, let's get over it already. So long as Messi is there, we can't stop passtomessi. Even with the Koeman coming, he can't actually ask Alba not to pass to Messi. And every new signing will want to be on the good books of Messi. Passtomessi will continue, in a nutshell |

FirstbornWds: Bros, Messi is not Xavi, neither is he Iniesta. He's Messi, the greatest of all time with every characteristic that completes a player.
We still need him at Barcelona to tutor lads coming up. A single mistake of letting go will Barcelona's undoing. Of course, it's okay if he starts getting littler secondary roles from time to time but just letting him go will be outta the box. It'll be worse than a Tsunami hitting us.
And yes, he still has at least three years to offer us optimal footballing. I'm actually tired of that excuse. Messi is not Xavi nor Iniesta. That's what everyone keeps saying, but those are Spaniards who were born and bred in Spain. They knew when to call it quits despite their love for the clubs. We have a pique, busi and Messi who are 33 but still want to be starting every damned game. At 33 Messi is a bit diminished but still better and stronger than all of your favourite footballers.
Begin from 365 days back and tell me any footballer on the planet that posted better numbers than Messi.
Just 365 days.
It is preposterous for any body to suggest to sell Messi on account of the performances of the team.
WTF! I'm not asking him to be sold because of performances. I'm asking him to leave so we can face what we dread the most now. Wouldn't it have been better if we list to Bayern, 8 - 2 without Messi playing? Would Bayern have even scored 8 against a Messi-less Barça? The presence of Messi infuriated them the more, and they sort to disgrace him even more. When Messi leaves, we approach our worst fears sooner than later. That's why I'm advocating for him to leave already |
